Tricky one to rate this. As a handheld vac it is 5 stars and as a replacement/only vacuum it is 4 stars. To begin. The manual says you will get a solid red light when charging and that a flashing red light is when in use as the battery is running low...Actually the charging light is the red flashing. Also the book says that it is a 5 hour charge time but initial charge should be 8 hours. Mine had a green 'ready; light after 3.5 hours but I was good and left it for the full 8 hours before use.The battery will only charge when it is installed in the machine. You do only get one battery, but if you wanted to buy a second for spare you would need to charge it then take it out.I will talk about all the accessories in a bit,but since most people want to know how well it does the job lets go there first. In operation this is louder than a normal handheld vac, quieter than most upright or cylinder vacs, if you have one of those VAX machines with a booster button, its like one of those without the booster button pressed. How good you think this is probably depends on what you want to use it for. I have to admit to being a lazy cleaner at home, I use my machine to pick up bits of lego that should have gone away, sweet wrappers that have gone astray and bits of tissue down the side of the sofa...This machine is not going to do that for you! That said it will pick up all the little bits off of your carpets and rugs including play sand, play dough and glitter - all of which it has done for me today, as well as hair - and a surprising amount of that! I live in a two bed flat, I have three carpet rooms (lounge and beds) and hard floors in the kitchen bathroom and hall way. I was dubious about the small canister to fill and I was right to be. Doing a full floor clean (all be it with three days of no vacuuming because I was waiting for this to arrive) did need an empty and also necessitated taking the canister out to clear the filter as not everything emptied when it was opened. Both simple enough tasks - it is worth noting then taking the canister off that the nozzle bit will come off as it is one part, you are not trying to live it over or around that).Full dust and sofa suction requires a second empty. The battery lasted for my full house clean and has not flashed.I found it a little heavy as I am use to pushing an upright rather than holding my arm in the air. I will get used to this and it's not a problem.Accessories:The wall hanger bit? I would have preferred a flat back so that command strips could be used as an option. This must be screwed to the wall (fixing provided) I tried to hook it up and it fell down after an hour. As such storage needs to be thought about as ideally you want the hanger near a plug socket to it can hang and charge....There is space on the hanger for the bag of goodies and many configurations of hanging. The main tools fit on either to the long pole or directly to the unit depending on task and preference. The 'normal' powered head. To power this up you must push a button on the main unit and a light goes on and the brush spins. This is smaller than the head on many conventional cleaners bit I didn't find this to be a problem. It did take some getting used to the flexibility of it as moving it was easy but also needed practice. This was great on the carpets and rugs and on flat bits of the sofa, it picked up lots of hair and did not jamb but I did remove the hair after as it didn't all get sucked through the unit. I will use this tool the most. I also tried it on the hard floor and it wasn't bad, not too loud some bits spat out the back but with the power mode off this stopped. I am tempted to leave it on in furutre rather than change to...Hard floor tool. I have never used a hard floor tool before. THis has rubber strips on it like a windscreen wiper. IT worked well but for me not so well as to warrant swapping over mid job. That said if I just wanted to do the hard floors I would use this.3in1 tool....This is a wedge slotted into a little brush and a flat tool, you can remove the wedge to use or use the other tool either way around. I needed the wedge to do some of the edges at the skirting etc when the powered head did not suck in. These tools worked well.Pet tool. - I do not have a pet. It worked and fitted fine I have no idea how good it will be on pet hair but it worked well on my sofas!Long reach tool. Great for cobwebs, love it! IT has flexible but preset positions so you can get to most places you need to get to.Bag - handy for the bits you don't use often.lead. Standard charger type, sealed unit plug with thin cable, about 6 foot long..Over all this is a very very good machine. As I only have old cleaners with hoses but not attachments this will be my only machine and I am happy with that, if i had a decent suction upright I would probably keep it for spares.

Out of the box the Vax Cordless SlimVac handheld cleaner comes with five different tools, a wall mounting bracket with mounting screws, a charger, and extension tube, the lithium battery, an instruction manual in English and a bag that is large enough to hold all the tool heads and charger. The version I have is the 'gold' trim. This is an unobtrusive light, caramel brown colour with a slight metallic speckle and a satin finish, plastic trim. It is not a shiny gold nor metal. The tools that are supplied are the powered head turbo brush with an easy to remove brush-bar so that any long hairs or threads can be cut free from the rotating brush; the 3-in-1 crevice tool with a clip-on dusting toolhead which can be rotated to use a hard surface head (this is a particularly useful tool for all the odd jobs); a blue, silicone, ribbed end tool useful for picking up pet and human hair and working on the stairs; an "Up Top Tool" jointed dusting tool which allows you to twist the dusting head through 180 degrees to clean on top of high shelves or door frames; finally there is a hard floor tool for working on non-carpeted surfaces. The hard floor tool allows an air gap for the tool head so that it can be moved over a solid surface easily. The SlimVac is activated by a trigger switch on the handle. On one side there is a right-thumb operated lever that will turn the SlimVac on without having to keep the trigger switch pressed on. This makes vacuuming for any length of time or with the extension tube much easier. The rotation of the brush on the powered head can be turned on and off by a separate switch on the main unit. The machine has a 22V lithium battery which gives around 24 minutes of cleaning time. The very first time you charge the battery, they suggest that you charge it for 8 hours. In a small flat, bedsit or small house, the SlimVac could meet all your vacuuming needs. If you have a lot of flat carpeted areas that take longer than 20 minutes to vacuum around then the battery life may struggle to last the job. Recharging a depleted battery takes about 5 hours. The balance of the machine makes it heavy to hold for any length of time when not using the extension tube. This is because the lithium battery is just in front of the hand and puts a turning force on the wrist. With the extension tube fitted the bulk of the weight is rested on the floor through the tube and tool head. When using it handheld for quick pick-up jobs the weight is not a problem. The cleaner without the extension tube looks like a cross between a 1930s Flash Gordon ray gun and an electric paint sprayer. The cleaner with the extension tube fitted is not self standing. You need to lean it up or lay it down if stopping and starting when cleaning. Care needs to be taken that it doesn't slide and fall to the floor when leaning it against something. The small dust collector is easy to empty without removing it from the cleaner. There is a simple clip that is pressed to release the bottom of the collector and empty straight into a bin. The collector can also be removed to access the dust filter and separator for cleaning. Again, this is simple to do. There is also a post-motor filter that needs cleaning every three months or so which is also easy to access and clean. The cleaner is stored using the supplied wall mounted bracket. Two large screws and standard wall plugs are supplied to fix this in place. If you are wanting easy access to the cleaner you need to fit the wall bracket because the SlimVac is not free standing and it is awkward to store with the extension tube fitted. The SlimVac has a powerful suction for a small machine. It is excellent for doing stairs and I find it very useful for doing the car. In use, it is noisier than I was expecting although it is not loud. The SlimVac can be a second, on-the-spot cleaner for instant karma on dry spills and crumbs in the kitchen or to clean awkward locations. I am pleased that they include a simple bag that is large enough to include all the tool heads because you do need something to keep all the bits conveniently to hand and together. For me the SlimVac is a neat and powerful machine. It has wide variety of cleaning tools and a useful bag to keep them in. I found it inconvenient that you need to screw-mount the storage holder; another negative for me is that the SlimVac is not free standing with the extension tube fitted; the twisting weight, caused by the battery position when using it handheld, hurts and tires my wrist which has not regained full strength since breaking it. In terms of the results that the SlimVac achieves, I am delighted.

I’d thought our floors and carpets were acceptably clean until using this rather smart vacuum cleaner but a glimpse towards its dust box following 15 minutes use confirmed I was deluded.A vacuum cleaner is not something I would normally get too excited about but I absolutely love this one.Following delivery, assembly is as simple as pushing the components together where they click into place and are secured by moulded clips holding them firmly in position. After an initial recommended 8-hour charge (subsequent charges are 5-hours) it is then ready for use – and what a joy it is to use. Vax have clearly given extensive thought to the design and ergonomics of this vacuum cleaner ensuring it is easy to handle in use and it can be lifted and carried around the home with just one hand.A trigger switch on the underside of the hand unit switches the vacuum on/off and, to avoid all strain while using it, this can be locked into position using the latch – rather like locking a hosepipe in the ‘on’ position, which ensures there is no strain on the user’s hand or finger. The vacuum cleaner is especially versatile. In addition to being used as a more conventional and ultra-lightweight vacuum cleaner, it can be used without the aluminium extension pole (‘reach wand’) to create a wholly hand-held vac perfect for cleaning a car, motorhome, upholstery, inside cupboards and stairs. The main default brushbar head fitted as standard is superb. It sucks up anything in its path and will twist, turn and tilt to reach right into every corner and makes cleaning very easy. Being rechargeable, it’s refreshing to be free of the constraint of a power cord and this enables complete freedom of movement around every room in the home.A full range of accessories are included, along with a bag to store them all: crevice tool for reaching into nooks and crannies, between cushions and down the back of the sofa, hard floor tool, pet hair, and an innovative ‘up top’ tool ideal for vacuuming the tops of otherwise inaccessible cupboards. I wonder how many other vacuum cleaners offer a facility for cleaning the tops of cupboards and wardrobes where dust gathers otherwise out of reach and out of sight...? This is the first I have seen or used with this feature. It works well and at just 2 kg, I as a slim-built, light-framed female have no difficult at all in lifting it and could happily swing it around if I so desired. It is also rather satisfying to watch the dust box fill up and makes me feel my vacuuming efforts, which are admittedly minimal with this vac, are worthwhile.Suction is excellent. It isn’t so powerful that it lifts carpets from the floor which was a criticism of an earlier Vax I used, but it certainly picks up everything from our carpets and hard floors including dust, grit, crumbs, pet fur, bits of paper and anything the average household drops, along with fluff shed naturally from our pile carpets. I’ve also found it good for vacuuming our sheepskin rugs which don’t get sucked up into the machine although anything tangled within the fur pile is competently sucked out.As usual the build quality of the vacuum cleaner is superb, together with the quality of the accessories. Everything is well-designed and engineered to fit together perfectly with no loose fittings, rough edges or wobbly switches. My only criticism is that the dust canister feels small at 0.6l and tends to fill twice during the 24-minute (accurate) run-time, or maybe this is just a reflection of fluff found on our floors. It is a trivial observation and it takes only seconds to empty by flicking the dirt release button on the underside. In summary, there is absolutely nothing I dislike about the design, performance or usability of this vacuum cleaner. I am using it as a sole vacuum cleaner in our 3-bed home with home office and resident free-range house-bunny (currently going through a moult) and I have found it performs well on all of our floors including tiles, lino, laminate, high and low-pile carpets and rugs including natural sheepskin. It is a vacuum cleaner I actually enjoy using and one I would happily buy myself, although baulking slightly at the cost, and would recommend with no hesitation at all.

I really like this vacuum. I usually use a corded upright vacuum, which is really powerful and which cordless vacuums (upright or handheld) cannot touch. I also use a Dyson handheld, which supplements the upright for small jobs around the house.I much prefer this Vax cordless to my Dyson handheld. On comparison, they look very similar, the Vax just being that bit bigger and heavier than the Dyson. The power and suction are also the same, so why is the Vax better?Well, the many heads and attachments that come with the Vax need mentioning. There's the big roller bar, the smaller hair grabbing stair attachment, the long pointy crevice tool with detachable and reversible heads,a funny bendy angular thing with a brushhead, and a hard-floor attachment. (With my Dyson I got a pointy crevice tool and a fluffy brushhead, and that's it.)One of my favourites is the hard-floor attachment, which I used to clean the ground floor, I usually use a broom and dustpan, but intentionally used the Vax instead, then I finished with the steam-mop as normal. Upon removing the steam-mop pad it was apparent that the Vax cleans a lot better than my broom, because the pad was much, much cleaner than usual and there were no grimy bits attached to it! It was also a lot faster than my broom, so that was brilliant news for me!I also liked the rubbery hair-collecting stair attachment - apparently it's for pet hairs, but both my daughter and I have long hair so our home gets covered! It was really handy to use, as the attachment is small enough to get into all the nooks and crannies of the stairs (my son has the attic room, so those stairs are quite small and they bend round twice, making funny-shaped stairs). I did have to use it carefully, as the rubber tip of the attachment kept coming off, as it's removable. The Vax's battery was really good, I managed to clean the whole house and there was still power left. I guess it is important to switch it off when you're not using it, such as moving between stairs and pieces of furniture. Charging time is 5 hours, so if you do run out of battery mid-way through your clean then you're stuck. The suction with the long pole attached was not too good, it is a lot stronger with the attachment directly mounted on the vacuum, but I found it was still OK when I used the long pole with the hard-floor attachment as it has two long rubber strips that kind of create a vacuum on the floor. I found the long pole with the big roller-bar was pretty much useless, there was hardly any suction and it was kind of just moving things around on the surface of the carpet. The one place where the Dyson is really better is the design of the emptying of the dirt container - they open the same way, but the Dyson is better because it pops open easily whereas the Vax needed a hand. Also, the Dyson had a smaller filter in the dirt container, so the dirt just falls out easily, but the filter in the Vax is bigger so the dirt (and all that lovely hair it picked up!) was wrapped in the tighter space and I had to use my fingers to dig it out.Overall, this is a brilliant vacuum, and I really like all the attachments. It would be sufficient to use this Vax if your home only has hard floors, but with my carpets I need a corded upright to have enough suction power for a proper clean. It's a brilliant way for quick and easy cleans, and I will be definitely using it instead of sweeping my hard floors now!EDIT: I forgot to mention the brilliant latch that you use to hold the on button down, saving your fingers while you use the vacuum. (This is definitely something that Dyson should add to their handhelds, my fingers get so tired from holding down the on button when I use it!)

This Vax Cordless Slimvac is obviously aimed at the taking on the Dyson v6 vacuum cleaner. Both are small form factor, rechargeable and come with a wand and an array of tools. I was kindly sent the Total Home version to have a look at and here are my thoughts after using it for 4 weeks. On first looks its comes in a completely cardboard box, nice from a recycling point of view and it's easy to get out of the box. Once out of the box, the instructions are reasonably okay - they actually tell you how it works and how to use it, it's not written in machine translated English, or just as pictograms. The first thing to do is to work out where you want to station the rechargeable end of the vacuum,it comes with a wall mounted holder that obviously need screwing to the wall (fixings included) or you can do what I've done and place it in a cupboard. Regardless of where you put it you need a plug socket for the charger - just a standard 3 pin plug with a thin cord - charge for 4 hours and you are ready to go.It comes with a wide array of tools, bar brush, pet hairs, and Up-Top brush (which angles so you can get it on top of things) and normal brush/thin attachment and hard floor tool. The brush bar is powered, so in operation it feels very much like a proper vacuum cleaner (you can burn the brushes off if you want. I have found that it is okay on my carpeted floor, especially where I have a rug that is currently shedding blue fluff at a rate of knots On my hard floor it is brilliant with the hard floor tool on and does a much better job than my standard vacuum cleaner. I really like the Up-Top tool, it's great for reaching out cobwebs in the corners, getting dust of radiators, skirting boards, the top of pictures etc. If you take the wand out you can still attach the brush bar and as it is still powered it is definitely the easiest way to do my carpeted stairs. On a full charge you get about 25 minutes of cleaning time, which is enough for me to do a quick once over the house, but not enough to do a thorough job. The battery is integrated into the handheld section so there is no option to have a spare charged up and then do a quick replace - once it's empty it's another 3 hours before you are good to go again! Once the vacuum is full it's easy to empty and the filters are easily accessible if they need cleaning.So-so on carpet - brill on hard floors.

The first point to note is that this cordless vacuum cleaner, technologically impressive may it be, won’t clean any better than a low cost upright cleaner. I have a Vax Nano bagless which picks up just as well, if not better, than this cordless SlimVac.However, that machine weighs 5kg, is rather noisy, fairly clumsy to move around and has a cord. This SlimVac is a dream to use. It’s lightweight, nimble, fairly quiet and the cordless operation makes it quick to move from room to room. The design is such that the machine comes in three sections, all well-made and lightweight. The handheld unit which houses the controls and dirt container (weight = 1.45kg including battery), the down pipe /reach wand (240g) and the power head / brush bar (480g for the standard carpert/floor unit. In total a meagre 2.2kg.Fitting the sections is easy via a quick release button and the machine comes with a number of tools – each of which can be fitted either to the end of the down pipe or directly onto the handheld unit – and it’s this latter feature that I find a major advantage over a unit which has a flexible pipe for the tools. Fitting a tool to the hand unit makes the machine ultra compact and great for cleaning stairs. The main cleaning head has a powered brushbar which can be switched on (carpets) and off (hard floors), and there is a 3-in1 tool (corners), pet/stair tool, multipurpose tool, up-top tool (high areas) and a hardfloor tool (delicate hard floors).Dismantliing for emptying the dust and filter is easy, battery removal is easy but rarely necessary – charging (5 hours) is carried out while in the hand unit, and the whole machine with down pipe attached can be hung on the wall with the included fixing bracket.Battery life is reasonable – I achieved the quoted 24 minutes run time – but remember to keep it charged. If it runs out mid-clean then 5 hours is a long wait. Suction with the down pipe is good, although it can’t match a 240v mains powered machine, and improves with the attachment fitted directly to the hand unit.In all, a great machine which can supplement the main vacuum cleaner for quick and easy sessions.

I hadn't used a cordless handheld vacuum cleaner like this before, so I was rather surprised at its performance. The SlimVac - weighing in at 2 kg. - isn't initially that heavy to hold, though you do notice its weight after about 10 minutes; the unit comes with a range of useful accessory tools and a neat storage bag. A wall-mount is provided so that the vacuum might be stored conveniently ready-assembled, though I couldn't make use of this as I have no spare wall space in my tiny flat. No matter, the disassembled unit is easy to store and takes less than a minute to put together. An initial charge of the Lithium battery takes 8 hours (5 after first use)and it's good to go.I found the unit performed very well; I don't have a large area to deal with and I generally do my serious vacuuming with my little Dirt Devil compact vacuum, but the SlimVac proved itself in all those hard-to-reach areas, on upholstery and general surface areas. I only did the floor of one room with it – my carpeted kitchen – and it gave a thorough and efficient clean – quite impressive. I ran the unit for just over 20 minutes on the first day, using it as I would a power-tool – short bursts of about 30 seconds or so rather than continuous running (there is a trigger lock should you wish to use it this way) and it worked fine for my purposes. Emptying the dirt container was easy; an initial clean of the filters required a consultation of the manual, but done once it's an easy procedure – after the first few uses I washed the filters out as instructed – again, an easy task to perform.I got a lot of use out of this on the first charge; the unit is now on its second charge and I've used it every couple of days or so for quick, general sprucing up, particularly on my stairs and the tops of skirting boards – I find it a useful tool indeed and am quite delighted with it.This is a terrific little vacuum; perhaps best suited as an auxiliary tool if you have a large house, as it isn`t hugely powerful, but useful for any household – it's very good for corners, hard surfaces and dealing with day-to-day fluff and dust gathering.

Put simply what I like best about this hand held vacuum from Vax is that everything you want and need comes complete with it in the box, right down to the wall mount bracket. If you are familiar with the leading brand name everything has to be bought as an extra which soon adds up.When unpacking the box it gave me chance to look at each of the parts in turn, they all seem really well made out of good solid plastic, the pieces easily clip together with a quick release system. The aluminium extension tube is something I’m missing from my current hand held and I really appreciated having it, it makes getting cob webs down from high Victorian ceilings an absolute doddle,it also make the vacuum much more useable for a small spill or under the kitchen table. Without the tube extension you have the choice of hand held on your hands and knees or get out the upright vacuum, this offers best of both.Once clipped together and after the initial 8 hour charge, came its road test. It spins up quickly as soon as the button is pressed, it’s not too loud but loud enough to reassure you of its suction power. It’s ideal for the stairs and the rolling attachment fluffs up the carpet as you clean, picking up even more dust and dirt. It's perfect for hard to reach places, curtains, under the sofa, the car......the list goes on.The added benefit of a simple wall mount really makes this vacuum, it allows it to be charged while it is being stored away, it keeps everything neat and together and because its stored upright it takes up very little space.Because this vacuum is so accessible and easy to simply pick up and use I do find myself vacuuming more than ever before, but that’s a good thing, right? As a hand held vacuum at this price point with great suction and cleaning power this is well worth five stars. However, it’s never going to replace an upright when you have large areas of floor space to cover.

I am going to put the star rating as a handheld vacuum. As such it is without a doubt 5 star, as another reviewer states, as a full vacuum replacement it is worth maybe 3.5 stars,This is a very comfortable to hold and powerful handheld cleaner. It weighs about 1.6Kg. If you need to get into tight situations or to hoover around a corner or under a bed, where the size of the unit would block access, you simply attach one of 4 nozzle attachments. There is a brush, a small extendable brush for corners, a roller brush and a narrow nozzle, You use the nozzle attachments for things like, hard floors, skirting boards pet fur and edges of car seats etc. They all come in a handy bag. There is also a long pipe that you can attach to the unit, so that it becomes more of a standard hoover or for the cornices of a room.As a handheld unit it is superb, lots of suction, quite a large dust/debris chamber. The only real downside to this product over a Dyson, it does not use cyclone technology. This means that as the dust chamber fills up, you get a loss of suction. Its not a great loss, but there is still a loss. The unit appears to be very well made and so far, we have had no issues with the unit. It comes with a 2 year guarantee, but their customer service is lousy compared to Dyson. I say this from experience, when we had an issue with a VAX upright and they could not care less. The battery lasts for 24 minutes from a full charge and takes 5 hours to charge, from fully depleted. It comes with a charger that can be mounted on a wall. Overall it is a fantastic, well made useful handheld vacuum.I am happy to Highly Recommend it as a handheld vacuum.

The Vax Cordless SlimVac claims to be a solution for the entirety of your home. The first thing to say is that the vacuum is incredibly easy to store. It breaks down into its many constituent parts and can easily fit into a cupboard. The vacuum is light and easy to handle. The real plus points of this vacuum cleaner come not within its primary floor-cleaning function but in its extra functionality. The cleaner has ,any different nozzles and attachments and can be used to clean corners and ceilings. The cleaner is light enough to lift above your head and makes cleaning in this manner a breeze. The pipe can be removed entirely and turns the cleaner into a handheld device perfect for stairs or surfaces. No complaints in that regard then, however the cleaner lets itself down slightly in its core floor functionality. The head is rather small and while flexible is slightly loose in its manoeuvrability. This means that cleaning a larger floor area can be tricky. The filter itself is rather small and will need regular emptying and cleaning. Again this is a particular issue when cleaning larger areas. The cordless nature of the cleaner gives you great flexibility, as long as you remember to charge before use!Overall therefore for a small home or as a supplementary cleaner for a larger home this cleaner is fantastic. It's flexible and light, easy to store and cleans effectively.

As a grab-it-and-go vacuum for occasional spills, and for between-cleans vacuuming to keep things looking nice, this is a really useful household addition. It's very light and maneuverable, and it will clean right up to skirting boards. The powered roller head makes it really quite effective on carpeted floors too. The waste container isn't huge, but it's large enough for occasional use, and hoovering a few rooms which aren't giving out loads of fluff (through pet hairs or new carpet). It's also easy to empty and to remove the filter for cleaning. What it is not however, is a replacement for a full sized mains powered vacuum. It just doesn't have the suction power to suck things up instantly,so you find yourself going over things two or three times where a full powered mains vacuum would grab them in one pass. For this reason, it's not really going to save you time vacuuming a whole house. It will however mean that you'd be far more likely to go and grab it to vacuum up small messes than struggle to get a large vacuum out, and I find myself using it often in this way. So great as a second vacuum - just not really suitable as a primary one, unless you really don't have the space for a full sized one. I think this is generally the case with battery powered vacuums in general though, so not really a criticism of this one in particular.

I bought this because I needed a lightweight, compact vacuum cleaner that I can quickly and easily wizz round the house with, and this is exactly what I got! I can clean all of my carpets, hard floors, and high up areas such as my blinds and curtains etc, with just 1 full charge of my new favorite gadget! The charge lasts around 25 minutes before it starts to lose power, and I find this more than enough to vacuum upstairs, downstairs and all the nooks and cranny's. It is incredibly easy to use, all the different attachments simply clip on and off smoothly meaning you can switch from handheld to full size in 2 seconds, and the lightweight design means you can use up high and down low without getting tired.I find the suction really powerful, despite what some of the reviews say my vacuum seems to pick up all dust and bits off my thick carpet. The appearance is sleek and stylish too, the rose gold is a lovely touch and it is so neat and compact on the holder that attaches to the wall too. It's really easy to empty out the dust compartment, and to clean the filter and roller brushes too. The instructions are really clear and straightforward, so you can't go too far wrong. I would really recommend buying this whilst the price is so low!

This slim, light, cordless vacuum cleaner is easy to assemble and a joy to use. Our house is on four floors, and our normal vacuum cleaner is very heavy to lug up and down stairs, so this is ideal (in fact I haven't used the other one upstairs since acquiring this). For its size, it's remarkably powerful, and the dust chamber - which is very easy to empty - fills quickly, which says it all. The attachments are straightforward and very useful, and the heads move easily and smooothly into corners and under furniture. The motor detaches easily to make it into a hand-held cleaner, and while this does feel heavy after a while, it does the job well, cleaning cupboards, ceilings, cars...in fact, just about anything. It holds its charge well while not on charge (we can't fix the bracket, which is includued, near a plug, so have to charge the motor separately). altogether, a lovely piece of kit, especailly for a small house or one with a lot of stairs. The current price is very competitive, too (there are other similar varuum cleaners on themarket). Highly recommended.

I am thrilled to bits with this cordless vacuum cleaner from Vax. It is perfect for my small, two-bedroom house and so lightweight and fuss-free.For me, the major selling point is that it is cordless, very light and takes up hardly any space at all.Vacuuming up and down the stairs, moving from upstairs to downstairs is so easy, with no plugs and long cables to deal with. The charge lasts for around 25 minutes, quite long enough for me to do the whole house easily.I was especially surprised at how much power this has too, it has left my carpets looking wonderful.I have attached to charging point to the wall on my landing and it takes up hardly any space at all, much neater than the traditional corded vacuum cleaner. The battery is good, it charges up quickly - as soon as the green light is on, you are ready to go.It comes with different attachments for different types of floors and I've used the hard floor one with success.Very pleased, I don't think I'll ever go back to a corded vacuum cleaner.

I have given this Vax 4 stars on its convenience, as a hand held it would rate 5, as a standard vacuum cleaner a 3 (against the high suction models). It is excellent for the spills and accidence that occur all over the house, having reasonable power it picks up most spillage. I have found it very good at getting round the window sills, crumbs on the floor, far quicker than a dustpan and brush. With the extension its great for cobwebs and high dust on curtains etc. (on curtains it doesn't try to suck it the entire curtain as our D' upright does). Without a cord and little weight it preforms well on the stairs. The accessories are well thought out and I have not found them wanting in tackling most jobs.In my opinion this is an excellent vacuum cleaner and will be a good buy for those wanting a second easily handled and convenient hoover, medium sized households, people who have difficulty handling the more heavy/powerful hoovers, and those who do not have a lot of fitted carpet taking heavy usage.
