For a moderately inexpensive and simple vacuum cleaner, this is quite good. It has a similar look, feel and cleaning mechanism to the Dyson ball upright, one of which I used to have. It has a conventional pair of wheels, however, rather than the ball. It has a cyclonic action which is more powerful than I had anticipated. It is certainly very effective at lifting pet hair as well as dust and debris. I did find the air vent adjustment a little laborious and tricky, but with practice, it will probably get easier. The air vent needs to slide left or right depending on the thickness of the carpet/flooring. The control for this is on the front of the machine head so that you have to lean down to manually adjust it each time.I found that travelling over fine carpet onto a thicker rug and back on to the fine carpet was hard work to maximise effectiveness. I have a dog rug which sheds its own fluff when the dogs dig in it to get comfortable. If the vent is not precisely correct (for me this was not quite on the hard floor setting), the fluff is not picked up.It is important, to ensure that the brush is set to the correct position for hard floor versus carpet/rug. This is controlled with a button in front of the on/off switch. There is no indication which way it is set, but as it is on or off, you just have to switch it until it is correct. I can't say I like that. Some sort of indicator would have been helpful.Quick tip: you may find the cord to be a bit of a pain and have to keep moving it around as you work. There is a hook on the handle. Pop the cord into this and vacuuming suddenly becomes much easier. :)The instructions are 'thin'. They tell you how to undo something, but not how to reassemble correctly, so pay attention the first time you remove the top of the container to take out the HEPA pre-motor out or you will have to take some time to work out how it lines up for reassembly. It's not rocket science, but until you are familiar with it, you may find it's tricky. It is lightweight, so easy to move around up and down the stairs. The included tools work reasonably well, but I was not convinced by the supposed ease of attachment to the tube or the hose. All in all, impressive suction, but a little tedious to adjust. Good value compared to a Dyson, but unsurprisingly not as good.

I loved my old Vax upright that I've had for a long time and still works extremely well. The only problems I've had with it were due to dropping it down the stairs a couple of times. I was thrilled therefore to update to a newer, more complete model!Once again, as a vacuum cleaner, this one is the business. Really great suction, clears stuff out of the carpet you could never imagine was there. It's a reasonably lightweight, though the suction is strong making it harder to push when working. Nothing unmanageable though. The flex is long enough to do a complete flight of stairs, though it's not as long as my previous Vax, which is a shame. I used to be able to do most of the upstairs rooms from the downstairs plug, but now I can't go much beyond the staircase. Similarly, the hose is shorter on this model. Vax have models with longer flex and hose, and personally, I'd prefer one of those, but for the price, this is a really great cleaner. The attachments don't clip into the clip on the body of the vax very well, which is a shame because otherwise, this is an excellent vacuum cleaner. The "bag" is easy to change and the brush easy to access, to clean out hair that gets trapped around the brushes. Cleaning the filter on these machines is easy too. I know Dyson is the brand everybody loves, but Vax quietly (well, there's still lots of whirring) gets on with the business and costs significantly less. Highly recommended.

Living with a red carpet is an absolute nightmare. Out of all the other colours, red is the worst for showing dirt meaning a regular hoover is almost a necessity in our house. In 5 years I've been through more hoovers than I care to admit mainly due to not wanting to splashing out big money for a decent hoover with good suction and just picking a cheap option and hoping for the best. From bagless to cordless to upright and cyclindrical (is that a word? Probably not, let's pretend it is.) hoovers are a constant thorn in my side. What a surprise then that this Vax Mack Air Energise is one of if not the best hoover I've ever used. The suction is impressive, the design sleek and you can visibily see the dirt sucked up making for an incredibly satisfying hoover. The cord is long enough to to be able to hoover most areas and although this can be difficult to get dirt from the edge of the room, this Vax hoover is an absolute beast at everything else. Emptying the cylinder is easy and slots into place nicely with the various parts of the hoover working well. If there's one complaint it would be with the bottom cylinder that tends to get stuck at times, especially if you live with women or girls with long hair everywhere so worth taking that into consideration.Still, for the price I cannot recommend this hoover enough and absolutely recommend this one.

This Vax Mach Air Energise uses new powerful multi-cyclonic technology which means no loss of suction across both carpets or hard floors. The Vax vacuum cleaner weighs only 4.9 kg, making it easy to lift up and down stairs, although I have 13 stairs in my house and by the time I get to the top, I feel like I've done a good workout. I wouldn't say that I'm an unfit person, so be aware that although under 5kg, is not like a stick vacuum. I have found that the Vax Mach air has very good suction and easy to empty and clean the brushes that get entangled with hair. The vax has a large 1.5L dirt capacity, but I find that empting it often reduces weight therefore making easier cleaning. The Mach air includes a 2-in-1 dusting brush or crevice tool and a fur & fluff tool, these work well but the Vax has only space to keep the brush or crevice tool on board. If your like me, you put them in "that" safe place and that's the last time you see them. I would have liked enough space to keep all tools together on board vacuum. The Vax has no cap on the top of the handle , where you attach the hose to in order to do stairs etc.. I have found this catches on the inside of my wrist when hovering and would have preferred a cap to cover this void. I like this Vax, its easy to use and for the money it's a good buy, therefore it's 4* from me folks.

I have been very impressed with this Vac Mach Air Energise Upright Vacuum. It is much lighter than any other upright I have used - which is great for taking up and down stairs. There is a simple on / off switch for the brushes. There is a 2 in 1 too which fits on board (probably the one you would use the most - for on stairs etc) - but weirdly there is another tool which doesn’t ....There is a slider switch on the base of the vacuum which adapts the height for different floor surfaces - I’ve noted other reviewers have found this difficult to use but all my floors are either low pile carpets or hard floors so I’ve not experienced this issue - once set I’ve not had to bother moving it again.I foundthe vacuum picked up well and was easy to empty.7 metres of flex - there is never enough length of flex in my opinion but this one is longer than my last vacuum.Quite compact for storing. All in all a great light weight vacuum which picks up well and is easy to use.

I've had Vax vacuum cleaners before and they've generally been excellent. However, I've never had an upright vacuum before so this was a new experience. First off, its a nice looking, fairly light cleaner with an excellent long power cord. My last cleaner had a ridiculously short lead! The suction power is great although it will diminish with wear and tear, as filters gradually block up. Just keep on top of the filter situation and watch your tubes! One thing which I'm not too keen on. The flexible hose is a bit short for fitting on to the solid metal stem/tube.As such I find myself bending a bit when using the attached tube which slots in the top-see photo-and usually acts as the main handle.I wish it had a longer flexi hose so I didn't have to bend.Overall though, I can't complain. It has great suction, a large cylinder and is more easily stored as an upright than a cylinder model.

Powerful and Lightweight?Yes it is.Very good suction and a good spinning brush - with a separate on off button - so it givesgood results and is quick and easy to use with a good long power cable – it reached my carfrom the front hall.It did take me a fair while to appreciate this machine because string or threads tend to stallthe spinning brush and had to be picked out. And initially I thought the detachable handleand hose were fiddly. But the more I used it the more I liked it. When stored it stands upright and takes littlespace, it can be moved easily. The cylinder is easy to detach and empty, the machine sucksitself tight to carpets and glides easily over wooden floor. And for the price,I’ll give it 4

This is a great machine. I was very impressed by the suction power on the carpet, much better than my previous vacuum cleaner, and proved the point by using the older machine first only to find the vax picking up even more for the surfaces. The additional tools for corners etc work very well and the only thing that I question is the description of it being quite lightweight. I didn't think so anyway. Easy to use around the house, but carrying it although it works fine does not seem particularly lightweight to me. Just a small grumble, but the machine itself really does the job and I am very impressed with the results.

It's still early days using this vacuum and my big worry is about durability but it has many good things going for it. The main advantage is how lightweight it is. In day to day use this is obviously really important and the fact that it's lightweight and yet powerful means that it ticks two very important boxes. The question is whether this lightweight character means it won't last the course. Time will tell. Now that the price has come down a bit it seems closer to decent value, I think it was over-priced initially.

This is a good quality budget vacuum cleaner.Suction-wise, it's not the best and noise-wise is quite bad. However, on the plus side, it has a large collection bin and it is compact enough to tuck away in the corner. It's quite effortless to push around too, so overall a great choice for the price.

23.2.2018

This is a good, lightweight, upright vacuum cleaner. Sold build and performance but second rate ergonomics and overall design is weaker than market leaders. It's good value but slightly less optimal to use, with some of the design notes like switch positions and sliders being pretty poor.

Seems this hoover is quite good as some reviews I read dident rate it but up to now I find it good it’s not a bad price so no problems
