I didn't know what to expect when I was given this Shark DuoClean to review. I hadn't even touched one before, so opening the box was exciting. I was amazed at how well packed it was, and that most of the packaging, with the exception of a few plastic bags, was able to go in my paper recycling bin, as there was no polystyrene - a big plus in my book. I like the colour I received, white with bronze-orange highlights. It was easy to put together as it comes with a 4 page Quick Start Guide, and everything you need to know to get it working is in it, there is also a larger instruction booklet with a more in depth look at how it all works. I clicked all the sections together, pressed the power button and off I went on a mission to clean the whole house. It is so simple to use - there's a really easy to use surface selector switch on the handle that allows to to easily change from Hard Floor to Carpet, and when you do you can hear that there is a change in power to get better suction. There's also an easy slider that allows you change the suction level, great when cleaning fabrics. The handle itself has a soft rubbery grip which makes it easy to control. I especially like that the boxy bit on the front, that houses the motor and Dust-Cup, can be lifted off the long arm with the push of a button, which means that I could get the roller head to go directly under my couch by just lying the arm and roller section flat, oh and it has headlights, which meant I could actually see the dust under the couch, which wasn't good, as the only way I could clean underneath it before was to use the suction pipe on my old one, which was so much of a faff that I never did it! That leads me to the long arm (the Wand) and pipe set up which is so easy to use. Press one button on the wand and the whole length releases from the motor and roller section which is great for getting to those skirting board edges without having to bend down and up to those high cobwebs, or press the other button near the handle, and just the smaller handle nozzle releases which is perfect for getting into those couch corners, or for cleaning your car. You can connect the head attachments that come with it, an upholstery tool & the 2-in-1 crevice tool, to either the wand or the handle nozzles. A big bonus for our family, both being 6 foot and above, is the nice long length of the wand. In the past the short wands have meant that I have to stoop to use it, and with this I didn't have to.What's even better is that you can remove out the wand and lift off the motor (easy to do with one press of the Lift-Away button), and connect the handle directly into the roller section for doing the stairs, and you can just use the handle with the crevice tool attached to get directly into the edges of the stairs. I hate doing the stairs, so making it so simple has made me love the Shark. My old cleaner is a Vax, which I bought because I don't like a weighty machine (I actually returned a Dyson because I felt like I needed to be an Olympic power lifter to use it), so I was concerned that the Shark would be too heavy, but surprisingly it is around the same weight as the Vax, so all is good there. I've never had a cleaner with a pivoting head before so it took me a few seconds to get used to it, but when I did it was a fun experience, and it's quieter than the Vax too. I had vacuumed a couple of days before with my Vax, so it was really interesting to see the amount of extra dirt that the Shark picked up. "WOW" is the word that both me and my husband uttered when we saw what was in the Dust-Cup, closely followed by "YUK!" when we realised how much the old cleaner had left behind in the carpet. I have wooden floorboards in the lounge, and when I used the Shark in there I actually called my husband down to hear the noise of the dirt being pulled up from between the floorboards. I cannot fault it's suction!!The only thing that could be improved is that it doesn't seem to have an edge-to-edge feature which was handy for doing the kitchen kick-board edges, but as the wand is so easy to remove and use, I can easily suck any wayward bits up.There is one thing that I really have to highlight and applaud - this Shark has 'Anti-Hair Wrap Technology'. Now I don't know what that means, but I do know what it means for me - with my old cleaner, I was forever having to dismantle it to get at the rollers which always ended up clogged with swathes of my long hair, so much so that I'm surprised that I have any hair left on my head. The only way to sort it would to be to grab some small nail scissors, cut the hair bits and pull it all out with my fingers (not a pleasant experience). After a week of running the Shark all over the house there isn't one hair wrapped around the roller (see the photo I took to prove it), so whoever came up with 'Anti-Hair Wrap Technology' you are now my personal hero.Overall, the Shark may be a bit more expensive than some other machines, but they have thought about how people actually use a cleaner, and have come up with ingenious ideas to make everything work just right. You are paying for ease of use, stylish design and, as they give you a 5 year guarantee upon registration, you are also getting a quality machine, built to last. ♦ Introduction ♦Sharks 'NZ801UKT' model is a modular vacuum cleaner in the sense that it's not limited to just being an upright vacuum; in-fact you can take the main unit off and have it handheld which makes it a bit more portable (despite the fixed wire, of course), there are also a variety of attachments to use with the nozzle. The other additional benefit of this model is if you are a pet owner, it's made to handle picking up hairs and preventing wrapping around the roller. This vacuum is completely bagless which also means no having to worry about spending extra money buying bags; just simply open the hatch and let it drop into the bin.♦ Ease of Use & Manoeuvrability ♦I would recommend reading the instructions, despite it being a fairly easy vacuum to use as there are a couple of buttons which may not be obvious otherwise. When setting the vacuum up, each part simply clicks into another part, they've done a great job of making this hassle-free to use, even when switching from an upright position to handheld. The cable length is very generous being roughly 8m in length, if I measured that correctly; in my house the cable can reach from my front door all the way to the rear. The cable is a fixed and loose cable, not retractable, so will have to be wrapped around the cable latch on the side of the vacuum when not in use. When in the upright position, the vacuum I found to be easily manoeuvrable as it works on a pivot system and is helped by the fact it's not overly heavy. It also has some lights on the front which some might think is a gimmick, but when cleaning under a table, having the ability to see if where you're going or whether there is an item on the floor that you may not want to get sucked up, is a nice feature. When used off the base, it becomes even lighter which makes it simple to carry around and can be placed in the ground if need be, just will need picking up again when moving position as there are no wheels on that part.♦ Suction & Results ♦The suction on this vacuum is incredibly good, it was picking up a lot of dust with ease and left a nice clean line across the carpet compared to the part which hadn't been cleaned yet.I was pleased to find an easy to reach switch that allows you to quickly switch between hard-flooring surfaces to carpet. When I used it on the hard-floor mode, it once again did a great job and left scratches on our vinyl flooring. One thing I did notice when vacuuming, there is enough of a gap to suck up cables, so do ensure there are no loose cables or items around, otherwise there may be an issue. There are a couple of things that I found it not good to vacuum when in the upright position, which were rugs: Our thick rug made the vacuum go into limp mode, which I think this is a safety measure as it was back to normal after turning it off and placing it onto a more appropriate surface; the second was mats which it liked to gobble up the edges, so use the appropriate attachments to clean those, not the when fully set in the upright position.Other than the couple mentioned above, I was extremely pleased with the cleaning ability and how easy it was to empty the debris into a bin.♦ Final Thoughts ♦This is a very robust and convenient vacuum cleaner to having in the home. I love how easy it is to switch from one mode to the other and it does a great job altogether. Would definitely recommend.

I bought the Pet version of this vacuum cleaner only a few days ago. Firstly, a big 'Thank you' to Shark customer care. I'd ordered, taken delivery of, assembled and tried the NV700UKT cleaner before I realised that it didn't have the powered lift away feature that I wanted to vac under furniture. A quick call to customer services, and all was resolved. I packaged and returned the cleaner and was refunded within a week. Excellent. Now, onto this beauty. Importantly, it was easy to assemble and everything went together with a reassuring, quality 'clunk'. Although heavy-ish, it is very well balanced and carrying it is easy. I had worried about the flex length of only 8 meters but, so far, this has not been an issue at all. The stand out feature for me is the ease and speed with which I can un-clip the handle, attach one of the tools and crack on with the cleaning. All other vacuum cleaners I have had have required some faffing of re-routing pipes, or taking out the whole handle assembly, or both, in order to use the tools - so they never got used as often as they were needed. Also, the handle is comfortable to use; so very much better than having to grip the attached tool as is the case with other cleaners I have had. I've got arthritis in my hands, and this comfortable handle has made a huge difference. The tool features on the this cleaner are a game-changer; particularly as there are tool storage notches on the body of the machine which accommodate the upholstery and nozzle tools . (The turbo tool cannot be housed on the machine, but not really a problem). The next 'wow' factor is the powered head for going under furniture of for manoeuvring in tricky spaces. Believe me, I never knew how important and labour-saving this feature is, until I had it and realised how much easier stuff is to do. Oh! the Shame!!! With the neat little headlights and the ability to vac under solid and heavy furniture, I'm going to leave it to your imagination what horrors were revealed... The lift away feature is truly great for the stairs, high places (the spiders don't know what's hit them) and tricky corners. The turbo tool on the stairs - so easy with the comfortable handle - is jaw-droppingly good and very effective at getting into that awkward angle between the step and the riser. Now, just how good is this vacuum cleaner as an upright? Well, I trundled around with my daughters new Vax - which I had thought was a marvel and a wonder. Then went over the same area with my new Shark. The Shark pulled more debris from the carpet pile and more dog hair from just about everything (three Labradors all shedding more hair on to every surface than they retain on their bodies) I was amazed. Switching to hard floors is a breeze; simply slide the switch on the handle. Likewise, adjusting the suction is no longer a faff at the brush head; a neat little slider again on the handle, so you don't have to break off but can cruise seamlessly from carpet to hard floor and back. All little touches, but they mount up to make vacuuming so much less effort and far more effective.

I'm not massively into the habit of naming my household appliances, however I am naming my Sharktimus Prime, because it's a TRANSFORMER. It has headlights, balljoints and multiple configurations. In addition to that, following my first go round my carpets are now probably the cleanest they have been since they were first laid! (Not to say I don't hoover - but the amount of cat hair and dust this pulled out on minimum setting and first go is phenomenal and puts my previous hoovers to GoT level SHAME, SHAME, SHAME *bell ringing continues ominously*) - this was what I put on my social media after my first run around my flat. After finding out my delivery date was the same day I was due to go away for a couple of days,I had my fingers crossed it would arrive with enough time to put it together and have a go - it's probably the most excited I'd been to receive a delivery in a while! Unfortunately, the cleaning gods were not smiling upon me, as I left shortly before it arrived, but 48 hours later I was back home and opening a box!The packaging was well thought out, with no dead space, and nothing difficult or stuck in the moulded bits. A quick read of the assembly instructions before putting it together, wasn't strictly necessary, as it was a lot easier than I thought it would be - and also gave me a good understanding of the different ways I could use it even before giving it a go! I had it assembled in under 15 minutes, which was fantastic. I have mobility issues so for me it's important to have options that suit, and this vacuum certainly has that. The ball on the upright section makes manouvering it easy, and the simple press and release with things clearly labelled make changing configurations a breeze. This meant I could get into awkward corners, under chairs, and grab cobwebs with ease, and without having to stop, and move things around to then continue. It isn't too heavy, making it easy to wield and move around, and the release system for emptying the contents is quick and easy. The only minor issue I've found as a whole is I keep hitting the 'liftaway' button instead of the 'release' button - which is down to it being in the same place as the release button on my previous vacuum. Having had a few goes round with it now, I'm still amazed as to how much this picks up in comparison to previous vacuums I've had, but no complaints over that at all, especially as my cat is moulting, so the anti-hair wrap is amazing when I'm using it on carpet. Swapping to hard floor is a breeze too, as it's simply a toggle. Not only was I hugely impressed by this as a whole, but my parents had bought one within a week of seeing me using mine, (which of course I helped to put together!) and I was told yesterday my sister has now followed suit too! Vacuuming a room now takes me five minutes maximum and looks great, rather than 20 mins, and a few declogs. So not only is my vacuum a literal transformer in terms of set up, but it's transformed my cleaning routine - definitely a convert here. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I am an elderly pensioner and i can say i have purchased many types of vacuum cleaner over the years. There have been all types of cylinder, upright, corded and cordless.Over time i have progresses from unwieldy machines to cordless because of my age and the need to have a machine which is easy to handle and manoeuvre. The Shark has very much surprised me in its ease of use and suction power and the anti-hair wrap facility. Having 3 dogs this anti-wrap is a god send. No more tipping vacuums up and having to often use scissors to cut away the hair from the brush at the front and the rollers, which in itself is a massive chore. The Shark on arrival was easy to extract and assemble from the packaging and after a quick read of the instructions, the machine just clicked together. The connection hose pieces were the best i have ever experienced in terms of positive click assembly and ease of removal, some other manufacturers need quite a force to get the pieces together and apart again, which is not good at my age.I first of all decided to vacuum using my present vacuum and remove the normal daily dust and hair from the floors. I think used the Shark to repeat the clean and i was slightly shocked and disgusted at how much dust and dirt remained and was picked up with the Shark clean after my initial vacuum with the old machine.1) There is a switch on the handle that allows you to swap between hard floor and carpets, this feature works well and with the suction control switch allows you to get the right amount to deal with long and short pile carpets without the difficulty of lifting carpets and vinyl flooring with too much power2) The facility to be able to easily lift off the motor power unit and then clean stairs under furniture and other difficult to reach spots is a amazing3) The accessory tools are easily fixed and removed, and the power brush is amazing for removing pet hairs and grime from upholstery4) The dust container is easy to empty and actually has the facility to empty from the top or bottom which i personally like for ease of cleaningAll in all the Shark is an easy to use vacuum with its articulated steeering and bright headlights to locate items on the floor. The suction power is very good without being too difficult to use in certain situations like vinyl flooring. The anti hair system works extremely well especially for anyone with pets in the house. Connecting all of the hoses and cleaning tools is easy without any difficult pulling and pushing. Lifting the motor unit away is a great idea, letting you clean those high and low areas. The only downside we have found so far is the attachment button which locates the hose into the handle keeps popping out, but that does not in anyway effect the use of the machine.

This Hoover has a versatile design that allows you to transform it from a traditional standing upright hoover into a portable one that you can move around with easier, that makes hoovering upstairs or hard to reach areas a lot easier. This particular model is the Pet variant, that includes a couple of extra attachments that makes pulling suborn pet hair from sofas and carpets easier. The hoover uses a different type of roller style with an anti-hair wrap, that stops the rollers from getting tangled with hair as easily. I find that it works well but some thicker and longer hairs still get trapped between the rollers, which is inevitable. They do pull up hairs well and fortunately they are easily accessible so it’s easy to clean them. When the hoover is locked in and standing upright the floor rollers are disengaged. You can engage the floor unit rollers by unlocking the hoover from its upright standing position. There is a green LED on the top of the floor unit that lights up when the rollers are active. When powered on, there are two LED lights on the front of the floor unit which are surprisingly useful, especially when hoovering a dark corner or under a sofa. The overall weight of the hoover is fairly light when everything is attached, but as mentioned you can disconnect the bottom floor cleaners and simply take the hoover with you. That’s not to say it’s a featherweight though, but easy to carry around with good rubberised groups on the handles. To remove the hoover from the floor unit you just press a button and it lifts away easily. As a few examples, for high areas like ceiling corners to get cobwebs, you can use the orange metal extension bar with the detailing brush, or for hoovering your car you can use the hose and mini brush-head.One thing to note is the cord length, it’s been increased to 8 metres long (I believe other models have a shorter cord) but there’s no feature to detract and retract the cord, it just hangs freely off the hoover and you have to wrap it around some pegs manually. Also, the dust collection bin is quite small and the maximum fill level is about halfway. The filter is washable and needs to be cleaned every 3 months otherwise you may experience loss of suction. The overall noise is acceptable and not overly loud for this type of hoover, especially with the level of suction you get out of it.Overall, this pet edition of Sharks Duo Cleaner range is an improvement over the standard range and is really effective at pulling up dirt and stubborn pet hair. I got this vacuum to replace a 6 year old Dyson.Initially I was surprised how small the unit was, considerably smaller than the Dyson it preceded. As a result the whole thing is lighter, however it actually feels heavier when pushing it around the floor. It's certainly manageable for me, but my kids struggle with it a little, something they didn't with the Dyson.Putting the vacuum together was simple enough. I was up and running within a few minutes. Initial impressions were positive. It's much quieter than my old vacuum but is even more powerful. The amount of fluff and dust collected on my first run was quite astonishing. The photo attached shows the results of once over our downstairs carpet (about 30 metres squared).Although the compartment for holding the dust is small, it was still quite a considerable amount that was taken up. The difference the vacuum made to the carpet was noticeable. The pile was less flat and had a spring to it similar to when it was new. After using the vacuum for a few weeks I did start to worry that perhaps the suction was too powerful, or the bristles were too aggressive and I might end up with a bald carpet. it is possible to quickly switch the vacuum into hard floor mode (which spins the bristles less) and I now do this for most of my vacuuming just in case. The way the vacuum breaks apart to allow you to detach the hose, or the both the hose and the main compartment is a really great feature. It makes cleaning the stairs really easy. I was considering getting an additional handheld vacuum specifically for the stairs, but this vacuum means there is no point. We have some hard floors in our house and the vacuum performs equally well on those. The front roller is soft and thick (a bit like a paint roller in appearance) and this is effective on hard floors. In general I am very happy with the vacuum. A couple of minor downsides; there are a couple of attachments but nowhere to put them on the unit itself. Also the dust compartment is small and needs to be emptied a couple of times when vacuuming the house.Good points:+ Powerful suction+ Quiet motor+ Adaptable (removable dust compartment) - makes vacuuming stairs very easy+ Very easy to adjust to remove hose, main compartment etc.+ Good rollers work well on hard floors and don't get tangled up with hair+ Long power cableBad points:- Small dust compartment- Nowhere to put the accessories- Feels a little heavy when pushing aroundOverall:A great little vacuum. I am very happy with it and I would definitely recommend it to others.

Before this I’ve used a Dyson DC01 and a very good Bissel ‘Pet’ upright cleaner. My new Shark is better than either of them. It’s lighter and quieter (much quieter), and more versatile and clever. It does a slightly better job of cleaning than the Bissel, which in turn did a better job than the original Dyson.I like how the brush head steers as you tilt the ‘wand’ (that’s what Shark calls the handle), so it’s extremely easy to swoop around corners and among the furniture. It picks up right to the edge (I did the Shake’n’Vac test along the skirting), removes cat fur neither of my previous machines could handle, and so far the roller has no hair wrapped around it, as promised.Clever.The fan-powered pet attachment for furniture works much better than the similar attachment on my Bissel. It uses rubbery ‘paddles’ instead of brushes, and perhaps this helps it get my dark blue sofa cat-hair-free like never before. Very impressive. The ‘dust cup’ (Shark’s words) is pretty small, but it seems big enough to do the house once. I don’t find it a problem and you can usually empty it without touching the dust. I like how every part of the cleaner is accessible and unclips for cleaning. Even with the base, you only need a coin to unfasten it and get to tricky orifices where something might get stuck. There are four filters you can wash out, but two only need doing once a year. It’s super versatile. You can use the wand in short or long mode, even with the main brush section, which looks odd. And you can take the motor and dust cup off and use the long wand and brush section to get under the lowest furniture, or leave that behind and go up the stairs with the dust cup and a short hose. The variable-suction lever is great for doing curtains and cushions. I love the headlights too.So they seem to have thought of everything. But nothing’s perfect... One design flaw is the ball-and-socket clip to stop the hose flapping about. It falls out all the time, which is irritating. The cable for some reason seems to get itself tangled more than others I’ve used, and the narrow brush head that makes it easy to get between furniture means more passes on wide expanses of carpet, so this isn’t ideal for palaces. It won’t touch really thick shag-pile rugs either – a red light comes on and the rollers stop. And you can only fit two of the three supplied tools on the machine at once, and they fall off when you crash. But overall, I really like this vacuum cleaner. It’s the best I’ve ever used. The five-year guarantee is the icing on the cake.

The detail on this vacuum cleaner is great with small notches and buttons in varies places too allow you to tweak different things. The handle for example has a suction control lever allowing you to adjust this as you clean. There is also a switch to change between hard floor and carpet (I think it just raises the base slightly). The machine provides considerable suction and made the carpets look like new by giving them a lift. It collects a large amount of dust due to its suction power and the small reservoir to hold the dirt is quite small to keep the shape small. This means that it requires regular emptying but this isn't too bad because the emptying mechanism is efficient and can be done quickly. The body can also be removed from the main stem which is great to be able to do awkward places like the stairs and corners of the ceiling. This isn't a very light vacuum cleaner though and some people like the elderly may find it hard to get this around. The floor head is very unusual with the hair being able to be removed with ease and the mechanism is hidden under a flap cover. The different rollers under the head allow you to use this on carpets and hard flooring without having to change the head which I have always had to do on previous machines. The switch to change between hard and carpet is on the handle which makes changing between it a switch flick away. All aspects of this hoover can be disassembled allowing you to replace small parts if they become damaged which considerably boosts the life of this. It also works for better cleaning of the insides to ensure that the suction is never lost. There is a filter in the hoover which has instruction to be cleaned with water and let air dry every 3 months to prevent suction loss. This isn't a bit deal but is something to keep in mind and maybe pop in the calendar? The accessories that are provided with this machine are complete and what you would expect from a vacuum cleaner. The long attachment is combined with the brush which I think is a bit better as I am always looking for separate attachments. They also fit nicely on the handle which although adds to the bulk, saves you having to find them.Great vacuum cleaner that has put detailed thought onto the different problems that we face during cleaning. If you require strong suction power and have pets/shedding family members than this is the one to go for.

We really like this Shark Upright Vacuum Cleaner. It has great suction, which is easily adjustable with a slide on the handle, there is a good length of power cord so you don't need to plug in and unplug every time you change rooms (we've had a couple on which the cable wouldn't even reach across a large living room), and the light is bright enough to illuminate even into the darkest corner or under furniture. It's relatively easy to manoeuvre, but I wouldn't recommend it to a frail or elderly person as it is quite tall and heavy and at times takes a little bit of effort to change direction, especially on the highest suction setting, although it's a lot easier the less suction you use. We've found it to be very efficient on all kinds of surface, ranging from wooden floors, woollen rugs and deep pile synthetic carpets. It was very easy to assemble and once you've got the hang of it it's very easy to empty. The hose is again very easy to attach and unattach as are the various heads for it. The clear plastic drum makes it easy to see how full it is, but this is a little misleading as the actual capacity is only about a third of what it first appears, although we've found it's enough for cleaning all the rooms either downstairs or upstairs. The main body comes away easily so that you can use it with the hose to clean the stairs or under furniture and it's fairly lightweight, enough that my wife can use it without much effort. Overall, build quality and construction look and feel very good and I would expect it to last well.We have two dogs, both of which shed a lot of fur, and they have the run of the house so we need to clean upstairs and downstairs 3 or 4 times a week and after a month the brush head is still hair free and the drum doesn't smell and it has seemed to pick up all the pet hairs from the floors and furniture very efficiently. It is also blessedly quiet for the size and efficiency of it, about the same volume as a cordless cleaner we have. It is quite expensive but apart from the sight lack of manoeuvrability for some people neither my wife nor I can fault it and would definitely recommend for anyone with or without dogs.

Excellent for pet hairs, and great on the stairs - the suction is really good too. It's very easy to steer, and the lights help you see where the dirt is when you have to get into dark areas. I would say that if you need powerful suction, it's best to stick with a vacuum with a plug rather then a portable one - this really has power. Open the vent if the auction makes it difficult to move on carpets. The two motorised rollers on the main head really don't get hair tangled in them, which is impressive. The lift-away function is great, with the main tank detaching with a simple click, so that difficult areas like stairs can easily be accessed. The only slight niggle is that the tank contains the motor,so it isn't light - perhaps between six and ten kilos? If course, you can put it down, so it's not like you have to keep hefting it around.Conversely, it could be argued that is a sign of good construction and quality materials when something has a bit of weight - anyone infirm or suffering from ill health might not find it ideal, though. If you're cleaning high areas it's not so bad, as the wand itself is adequately lightweight, and you can leave the motor/canister on the floor. The main shaft can be unclipped and used in lift-away mode, with the brush head of choice. It's a very quiet machine, which is good if you have pets of a nervous dispositionThe HEPA filter is an obvious necessity when dealing with pet hair and dust, and thankfully it's really good, and easy to access when it needs to be cleaned (the instructions state that this needs to be done to keep the suction strong). You get the usual crevice nozzle and an upholstery brush in the box - if you want other heads, they have to be bought separately. I found the cable to be sufficiently long too - roughly six meters or so.Overall, this is an excellent cleaner that is really good at steering flexibly - the suction is great and it seems to be built to last. Its easy to remove and clean the filters and rollers, and very good at dealing with pet hair. The lift away function gives it another dimension, but I would prefer it to be a little bit lighter.

This is so much more than a big, upright cleaner - which is what it says it is on the box! When I first used it as an upright I found it a little on the heavy side, as it has a multidirectional foot I was worried it would swing and pull on my (weak) wrists like some other hoovers have - but I was wrong. This cleaner is very easy to control and direct and isn't heavy on the wrist at all.All new cleaners seem powerful and suck up a lot but this one continues to impress after several uses. One of the selling points is the uniquely designed anti hair wrap roller. This feature works like a charm - I have long hair and two dogs and this hoover never seems to get clogged at all and the rollers remaincompletely clear of hair.I absolutely love the Lift Away feature which allows you to remove the cylinder and wand to clean the car or stairs etc. The wand lifts away at two different points which is also useful if you want to switch between a long or short reach. The attachments are spot on for stairs, upholstery and car cleaning also. The very easy, highlighted switch on the handle allows a quick shift between hard floors and carpets and allows you to see which function you are using at a glance. Similarly the switch to control suction is visible and easy to reach to adjust during use. The cleaner is easy to empty and has a clear tank so you can see when this needs doing.I thought the headlights on the foot were a super cool gimic but it is actually quite useful when you're hoovering a dimly lit area or under furniture. I know what you're thinking, but it really is! Speaking of which, the very slimline foot slides neatly under quite a lot of my furniture allowing me to hoover under without using attachments.I think the only negative thing to say about this cleaner is the storage height. This wouldn't necessarily be a problem for other users but my cupboard is only 95cm tall and the unit stands at 120cm! It is a shame that the wand doesn't retract into itself, that would be the only design feature to add that would make this fabulous cleaner absolutely perfect as a corded upright in my book!

Seems to be powerful, picks up a lot of dirt, feels very solid and all buttons and connections for tolls and lift-away etc intuitive and easy to use. However, much heavier than my previous two vacuum cleaners (both VAX, including a high end and budget model) so harder work to use though it is surprisingly manoeuvrable due to the tilting joint at the base. Width for dust pickup is at least an inch less that my previous vacuum cleaner which presumably means it will take longer for the same floor area though maybe helps with getting into tight spaces. LED lights on the front are a daft gimmick and for an already well lit room seem to make it harder to see what you are doing due to the over bright light pools, only useful if you like to vacuum in the dark! The powered liftaway function is useful for the stairs compared to lifting an entire upright machine but the liftaway part is still rather heavy - I'm young and fit so can manage it but it may be too heavy to use easily for an older person. The most annoying feature is the size of the dust collection cup - it is absolutely tiny. Even vacuuming a single bedroom I had to empty it multiple times and twice on the stairs. Maybe that is a reflection of how poorly my previous vacuum had been working once the brushroll had broken when tangled so maybe in future there won't be so much to pick up but you certainly need to plan on emptying after every single room., though at least it is very easy to empty. Feel like I'll be getting a workout every time I use it though both due to the heavier unit than I'm used to and running back and forth to the bin.Key feature I bought it for is anti hair-wrap. Hard to judge that at the moment. There is certainly some hair wrapped around in the middle of the brushroll but the instructions say that is expected and it will slowly get fed into the machine, especially when cleaning hard floors which slowly spins another softer roll. Only time will tell on that one but it certainly hasn't entirely clogged itself up in the way that caused the roll on my old machine to fail.Read full review...

I am absolutely enamored with this vacuum cleaner. I didn't know that a household appliance could make a person so happy lol. My previous vacuum cleaner was a Henry and I absolutely hated it. It was annoying to move around, the hose was too short which meant I was always bent over, the cord tangled- it was generally just the most annoying appliance I have ever used. I saw this vacuum cleaner on a deal and thought I would give it a go, the reviews were good and it looked slick and like it would tick all the boxes for me.It works so well and it is so so nice to use after using a Henry for several years. It pulled so much dust out of my carpets it was disgusting.Since purchasing this vacuum I have noticed the overall level of dust in my home has reduced significantly. When we used to clean the house within a few hours you could see dust settling on glass surfaces etc that is no longer the case and I've only vacuumed my full home about five times since purchase.I thought the anti-hair wrap technology was a gimmick but actually it works really well. I have nearly waist length hair that gets everywhere and I was forever having to take scissors to my Henry to cut the hair out of it. When I check the head for this vacuum cleaner there is nothing wrapped around either of the brushes, which is fantastic. It is slightly heavier but it is easy to manoeuvre, it doesn't feel heavy unless you actually lift it up. The lift away and all the different ways you can use the vacuum cleaner make cleaning your home a slick and easy job. I love that I can vacuum the floors and then pull out the handlr to do the baseboards and easily lift off the canister to clean other places all with the click of a button.I really can't say enough good things about this vacuum cleaner and I would wholeheartedly recommend it. Saying that I wouldn't pay £300 for it, it might be worthwhile but that just seems like a lot of money for a vacuum to me. I purchased this for around £179 and it feels like an excellent value for money at that price.

I've been struggling with my "old" vacuum cleaner for a while now as it just isn't as effective as it used to be. I got it in 2014 and I still think of it as being new and top-of-the-line. My carpets have been suffering and were honestly quite disgusting in certain corners with cobwebs matted onto the fibre. Even my sofa was like something you'd normally find abandoned in an alley with dozens of fallen peanuts seemingly permanently wedged into the folds and voids. The arrival of this Shark model (a company I had never heard of but they are here to give Hoover and Dyson a run for their money) was an enormous relief and I unboxed and assembled it as soon as I could. Fresh out of the box, there are about 4 component parts that need to be clicked together, but it's all very easy and shouldn't take you more than a minute. The chamber and nozzle can also be detached from the base, which makes reaching high shelves or awkward spots a lot easier. The nozzle, which detaches from the top, not the base, was perfect for jamming down into the sofa to suck out all of those crusty bits and peanuts as well as clearing all of the dust and cobwebs from the edges of the carpet and the inter-room thresholds, which are often tricky under the rollers. After just a minute of use I was amazed at how much dust it had managed to suck from the carpet, even rejuvenating it by tugging on the fibres hard enough to make the ancient carpet have a tiny bit of bounce once more. Considering how much dust was trapped on my floors I was a little disappointed at how small the chamber is - you'll have to empty this more often than a regular vacuum cleaner, but it keeps the size down. The device isn't small, but it is thin instead of being bulky. Also, it is certainly the quietest vacuum cleaner I have ever had. Since I work a lot of awkward hours it's hard to find the time during the day to switch on a loud vacuum cleaner without irritating the neighbors. No such problem with this one.Extremely pleased with this and heartily recommended.
