For most of my life I have suffered with a severe case of OCD. It’s not something which I talk about regularly but it’s a part of my life which I deal with on a daily basis both in and out of the house. As you can imagine I like to keep things fairly organised and clean even when I happen to have a fractured elbow and be wearing a sling, I’ll still push myself to vacuum, polish and generally spruce up the house otherwise I simply cannot rest or relax.I’ve never particularly enjoyed cleaning, it’s just something that like everybody else I have to do except in my case I feel a compulsion to carry out each and every day to an extreme level, this can be quite tiresome and time-consuming.Back in the day my husband and I had a ‘hand me down’ upright Dyson vacuum which seriously sucked by which I mean in a good way. However over time despite cleaning the filters and replacing various parts our beloved Dyson bit the dust quite literally. To be honest I was quite relieved that our Dyson had died as it may have been an exceptionally good vacuum but it was also far too heavy to push around never mind to carry up and down stairs each day. I began looking into replacements for our previous vacuum in the hope that I could find a modern, lighter counterpart. After reading countless reviews and finding a good deal on a Dyson we opted to stick with the brand and bought a cylinder vacuum which we have since had for the past three years. To be honest I wasn’t entirely impressed with my replacement Dyson, it may have been lighter and easier to manoeuvre around the house but it lacked suction and given that the entire point of a vacuum cleaner is to ‘suck and remove dirt from carpets’ it frustrated me that our new Dyson left simple things which I could physically pick up with my own fingers such as cotton threads and fluff on carpets.A month or so later the handle/ wand broke, its replacement then broke and a further six months later the third replacement handle/ wand broke leaving me desperate to replace this chocolate fire guard of a vacuum cleaner with anything other than a Dyson.I was recently contacted by Shark enquiring as to whether I’d be interested in carrying out a review upon one of their ‘Lift-Away’ vacuum cleaners and I almost bit their hand off pardon the pun as I was desperate to give anything a go.Two days later and coincidentally just as I’d vacuumed the entire house using my rather useless Dyson the postman rocked up with a perfectly packaged ‘Shark Lift-Away’ Vacuum cleaner. I very quickly set about putting the vacuum cleaner together to put the brand spanking new Shark to the test on my ‘so called clean carpets’.I would like to forewarn you at this point that it has already taken every ounce of my soul to write the word ‘vacuum’ rather than ‘hoover’ so far throughout this review. Being a ‘northerner’ I’ve always tended to call what many refer to as a vacuum ‘a hoover’. In the same respect, I’ve never really ‘vacuumed’ our carpets as I’ve always known it to be ‘hoovering the carpets’. So please understand if I happen to drop the ‘hoover bomb/ brand name’ into this post accidentally, it’s not intentional, it’s simply my upbringing seeping into my writing. The Shark has several settings which can be adjusted to suit accordingly. Firstly I set the vacuum to ‘carpet’ mode then adjusted the suction to ‘high’ before beginning vacuuming the living room. I hadn’t expected for the vacuum to self propel, never before have I experienced a vacuum which does most of the work for you! Not only that but the Shark ‘Lift-Away’ vacuum features rather bright lights at the front of the machine which highlight your path as you clean. It was then that I realised how dusty and dirty the Dyson had left my carpets. After whizzing around the living room much like Mary Poppins on fast forward I took a moment to look at the waste cylinder noting the amount of dust, dirt and general filth that the Shark had picked up. To say that I’d vacuumed less than an hour before the postman arrived the Shark cylinder was now full of grime and required emptying before I could continue around the house. All that dust and dirt our Dyson had failed to pickup, for the first time in years my carpets actually looked clean. The suction which the Shark provided actually lifted the tread of the carpets springing new life into my living room and around the house as I proceeded to continue cleaning. At this point my husband arrived home and I asked him to give it a go, he too was impressed with the Shark vacuum and swore then and there that he’d never go back to using a Dyson.I then moved into the kitchen where I tested the hard floor setting upon our laminate and wooden floors, the Shark sadly wasn’t as impressive as when used on carpets but still seemed to do an adequate job. However, when used to vacuum the stairs the Shark Lift-Away came into its own as I was then able to make full use of this vacuums design as I removed the cylinder from the stand and carried just the cylinder/ vacuum pod along with the nozzle up the stairs to clean the carpets with ease. This is a feature which quite frankly makes this vacuum cleaner unbeatable. No longer do you need to lug about heavy vacuums whilst reaching to clean curtains, under beds, under tables, light shades, stairs or whatever else you would usually use a wand cleaner for, the Shark Lift-Away literally takes the weight from your shoulders as it separates into a simple vacuum pod solution. My husband and I have a rather ancient basset hound whom we refer to as ‘Molly’, she’s a fairly hairy beast and tends to shed quite sharp fur which often nestles itself into carpets and furnishings. The Shark Lift-Away vacuum is classed as a ‘True Pet’ vacuum as it removes hair, dust and dirt with ease, this has certainly been apparent as we no longer struggle with pet hair around the house. With the anti-allergen complete seal technology, the Shark Lift-Away vacuum cleaner stores all the dust and allergens inside the vacuum, this has already made a massive difference to our daughter and my husband as they suffer with asthma which seems to have improved since using this product.Whilst this is an amazing vacuum cleaner it wouldn’t be a fair nor true review unless I stated the drawbacks of this product. The only issues I could possibly pick fault with having used this vacuum for some time now is its lack of waste capacity as I’ve found we are having to empty the cylinder almost every other day. That and this vacuum has a shorter power cord than what I have been used to in the past, neither of which are really an issue simply more of an observation to be fair.We have made use of the Shark Lift-Away Vacuum on a daily basis around the house for the past fortnight or so and without a doubt cannot compare this vacuum to any other we’ve seen nor had in the past. My family and friends have already written down the details of this vacuum as they too were that impressed with what they saw that they are now looking into purchasing their very own Shark.I cannot recommend the Shark Vacuum series enough! It has truly transformed my life as I am now able to make short work of cleaning around the house, that and I have confidence that my floors and carpets are genuinely clean.Product Rating [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I have had Kirby Cleaners (2) for almost 30 years and, given their amazing suction power and lifetime guarantee, have been reluctant to change. However, the smelly bags and the weight of the machine when lugging it upstairs were always an issue for me, so I decided to try something else. I was first tempted by the Gtech AirRam but tried my mother-in-law’s and was not impressed with the suction power or the battery run time, so did a bit of research and found that Shark come out very favourably when compared to other leading makes.Reading general reviews, I realised that corded vacuums have stronger suction power and, though attracted by the freedom of the cordless, decided that the ability to clean had to be my prime concern. I also wanted to be able to shove my vacuum cleaner in a cupboard rather than have it out charging somewhere.I read about various features offered by Shark – the DuoClean, the Powered Lift-Away and the Power Pet Brush and realised I would like all three, despite having a non-shedding dog, and so settled on the NV801UKT. Shark customer service were super-helpful when directing me towards finding the product I wanted at the best price and they obviously have faith in their vacuum cleaners as they automatically offer a 5-year guarantee on their uprights without you having to register it yourself.I did consider going for the model with the larger base, as it is more like the Kirby, but felt this would not only make it heavier, but also be harder to manoeuvre. I’m glad I went with the standard base, as it keeps the weight down and, although I might have to make more passes to cover the same area, it can get more easily into tighter spaces. The suction is excellent. It does feel a bit different, as there is more weight in the body of the vacuum (all the weight of the Kirby is in the base and, when in Power Assist Mode, it is very light to push around), but I think I will soon get used to this, especially given the flexibility that the swivel head provides. It’s lighter than my Kirby to carry upstairs (I can do it one-handed), although admittedly nowhere near as light as I expected (I think an elderly person might still find it heavy, but as you can carry the Lift-Away section up separately, it should still be manageable).I read somewhere that the stick was chest height and too high for shorter people. Yes, it is high but, as you are never going to push it without the handle tilted, I don’t see why this would be a problem. The longer rod simply means you don’t have to bend as much and is better for your back.I love the fact that you can not only access the brush from the top of the floor nozzle, but there is a tool stored inside for cutting away any hair wrapped around it (great for me, as I have a long-haired dog). I also like that the brushes only spin when the handle is tilted so, when the vacuum is upright, it’s not churning up the same section of carpet. It’s a very adaptable machine. As well as the Lift-Away option, which allows you to slide the stick under furniture and do the stairs more easily, the hose and attachments (apart from the Pet Power Brush) are stored on the vacuum and it’s so easy to detach the handle (in two lengths) to reach higher up. I tried the Pet Power Brush on my sofas and it removed loads of hair – mine, not the dog’s!I haven’t yet had problems with the hose popping out of its clip as some reviews mention, but the flex doesn’t stay in the slot intended to hold it, so I end up carrying it in my left hand (I’d probably do this anyway to avoid driving over it with the vacuum). Some people complain about the size of the dust collector and it is true that it is small, but I don’t mind emptying it after every use, as it’s so easy to do and it makes for a cleaner, fresher, fully functioning vacuum. All in all, I’m impressed. I will actually use the various attachments as they are so readily available at the flick of a switch. Nothing is complicated, awkward or fiddly. I’m actually looking forward to vacuuming under the beds (I normally have to wriggle under on my stomach as the Kirby only goes so far before it tips up and breaks contact with the floor). I will keep my Kirby for its dry shampoo system but won’t be going back to vacuuming with it.

So I've waited 3 months to write this review. I'm literally going to be very detailed so skip over if you want a brief overview.I cannot lift heavy items due to a condition which means I can dislocate very easily. This has caused me to purchase 4 vacuum cleaners in as many years. Dyson, vax, Henry... Corded, cordless, you name it.I found battery ones lacked power and definitely not suitable to do a house clean in a house with 2 adults, 4 kids, 2 parrots and a dark haired mutt in a house with cream carpets. It was giving me panic attacks seeing the mess!My corded upright vax was heavy, bulky and difficult to manoeuvre. This, my OH said, is brilliant suction. I couldn't use it. Especially on stairs. We live in a town house. It didn't work for me.I was using a small battery handheld vax for the stairs, upright for floors and a carpet sweeper for a quick clean. This was first used after taking Xmas Dec's down. The upright had been over it before.. Woah. Its got up so much in normal carpet mode I couldn't believe 12 hours beforehand it had been vacuumed! The suction and brush bar literally pulls itself along taking a heck of a lot of pressure off my shoulders pulling it back and forth. This swivel head for getting around furniture was something that made it even easier to use. The dust bucket appears small, but is compacts so well.It is so simple to take the nozzle off and use the hose, especially for dusting which is a lifesaver with parrots! The dusting attachment is great, either as a short length or with the extended handle. I can get those pesky Corner ceiling cobwebs so easily! Just a simple button to lift it away rather than bending down and unplug and reattach with a loss of suction. The suction is very good. So good it has got rid of the pesky marks under the door where carpets lift and the upright never caught.Onto the Lift-Away. So, SO easy to do. One Button. I know people have commented that it topples. It can, but I use it to help me stand on the stairs. It supports me as I give my return staircases a clean. I lift it and clean the stairs as I go, then return for the lower brush bar so I can continue to vacuum the rooms upstairs. It makes it easier to do rather than lifting the whole thing in one go. It isn't particularly light as a full unit but it really has made it so much easier. It feels like I do have two vacuums in one and the suction is amazing, even compared to a Dyson without the pesky filters. They are so easy to clean.Another bonus.. I have two long pile rugs. They are great for hiding dirt, but also they are bad.... for hiding dirt! Most vacuum cleaners cannot use a brush bar over these rugs.... With suction (easily placed on the handle) opened up, THE BRUSH BAR GOES OVER! This made me happier than I actually want to admit as it makes me sound super sad! My kids bedroom rug is no longer a hidden land of debris that has to be released into the wilds of the garden after a good shake every so often! Yippee! So, yes, I love this vacuum. Only negative, slightly annoying but not really a negative, I would like the cord to be slightly longer. But let's face it, there are plugs in every room. It's long enough to plug into a hallway and do each room from there and reaches the stairs. All in all, I now have a cleaner house and less pain from doing so.

I am blown away at the power of this vacuum and very impressed with how it looks. The NV801ukt by shark has really took the lead with vacuums. The new duo clean technology is amazing technology to have, no matter what floor type I am vacuuming on the level of suction is the same, I have no loss of power vacuuming one floor to another.. the amount of dirt, dust, dog hair I have collected is crazy, I feel so shocked, it has picked up bits that you can't even see on the carpet/floor. I also love that I can go from vacuuming different floor types with the same level of suction by a flick of a button, the nv801ukt is so simple to use! Everything on the vacuum is clearly labelled so changing tools and how you use the vacuum is so easy to do..And takes so little time. The on-board storage for the extra tools is very handy to have, making it even easier when you need to use them, the only disappointment I have is there is nowhere on-board to store my pet power tool. The cable in comparison to other leading vacuum manufactures is more then long enough to vacuum more then one room at a time without changing plug sockets, in my opinion I am so impressed with the length of the cord! Shark has added some lovely little features, again making it easier to use and maintain a clean vacuum. The cake cord holder moves, making it easy to unravel your cord. There is handy led lights when using the vacuum which makes it easier to see where you need to vacuum, there is a led light indicater which lets you know if there is an issue with the vacuum and finally there is a brush roll cleaner included which does help. The shark nv801 Is very easy to use and manuvore, it doesn't feel big and clumpy, the power of this vacuum is second to none which I feel helps when it is being used. The lift away mode is a very good feature to have, it certainly helps when you are vacuuming areas where the vacuum as is can't go. Ideal when you are vacuuming places like stairs etc. Sadly I have noticed that the canister does fall over ocaasionlly in lofr away mode, however shark has addressed that and customer can by a caddy to stop this, that being said. It doesn't effect the power of this vacuum. Shark has really thought about this vacuum and added nice features on to this vacuum making it easier to use but still the amazing power remains the same. It's doesnt look of feel cheaply made, the quality is outstanding!Overall I feel this vacuum is a cut above the rest. It really is amazing. I can't fault it. Having the 5buear warrenty with shark is a bonus, it just shows how confident they are in their products. The customer service team goes sbove and beyond, helping there customers, giving it 100% to make sure all is happy. I am So happy I have converted to shark!  [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I never thought i'd ever be so impressed with a hoover in all my life. I've been a cleaner for the last 10 years and i just had to put this to the test after all the reviews. Well i work in a primary school so what better way to put it to the test than a primary school? and yes i know they're meant for homes and pets and blah blah blah... but i tell you something this hoover exceeded all expectation and more the ease of use the lightweight feel the way it glides along carpets and hard floors so effortlessly with a flick of a switch is absolutely incredible. this hoover pulled sand out of a nursery carpet that we haven't been able to get out with any vacuum or carpet wash!It pulled sand out of rugs that no amount of shaking and beating with a broom ever removed it picked up play dough and rice. it pulled dried in mud dust out of carpets that are due for carpet washing this half term to the point its only going to need a quick wash 20-30 mins max these carpets normally take hours and a couple of goes to make them clean. im in absolute awe of this hoover it picked up that much rubbish out of the carpets i had to empty it after every classroom. After all these impressive tests and passing with flying colours i thought well it can't disappoint after all that so i tried it at home now i have 3 dogs- a rottweiler and 2 short haired chihuahuas and i was right its absolutely incredible. It pulled the rottweilers hair out of my cream carpet ( yes i know cream and dogs what was i thinking) so effortlessly the attachments sit on the back of the hoover apart from the big pet upholstery head but thats okay. i used all three attachments and not once did i struggle or lose suction. The big pet head helped pull the tiny chihuahua hairs out of the sofa it looks almost brand new the only give away is the bum imprints in the cushions haha. The only and i mean ONLY issue i have is the wire placement i found myself standing on the cord a lot and having to plug and unplug to get the full room but thats because they're classrooms and not home rooms which i had absolutely no issue with unplugging yet i did struggle with standing on the cord which will take some getting used to but if thats the only flaw i can find i mean it not terrible is it. I'm in love with this machine i really can't give it anymore high recommendations. Give it a go i promise you wont regret it just remember to flick the switch from hard floor to carpet otherwise you'll wonder why is isn't picking up when hoovering as i did a few times until i realised id not flicked it back. oh and its lovely and quiet our school has noise triggering door stops and our normal hoovers make them go off not once did this hoover cause the door to shut it was brilliant. Even better i got it on sale but i 100000% would pay full price

Vax, Dyson, Hoover, we’ve tried them all. We thought we found the perfect cleaner with the Miele Dog and Cat, but ultimately it couldn’t keep up with the dog shedding, and the brush would too often pack up working. Then along came a Shark. I never believe the hype, I need to try things out for myself. Firstly I love how light and agile it is, its easy to carry, easy to push and so effortless to steer. It’s great on stairs, we live in an old cottage and there are stairs into every single room. The Shark makes cleaning the stairs a doddle. This thing has headlights! That may sound like a pointless gimmick until you try them. Even in a well-lit room it shines a bright light in the shadows and ensures you pick up every last bit.I never thought I would need headlights on a vacuum cleaner! This isn’t the most powerful cleaner out there, but honestly, it doesn’t need any more power as it works great as it is. We have two hairy dogs and a cat who likes to moult constantly, and we have pet hair to clean up every single day. The Shark is great with the pet hair, it doesn’t need adjusting and I don’t find I have to go over it three times either. If the main brush gets blocked a red light comes on, which is useful as you may not realise. It’s easy to clear the brush of any blockages and then it goes green again and starts to work. I guess this stops the brush getting damaged by any solid objects being caught in the mechanism. There are not as many attachments as other cleaners, but we have not found ourselves wondering how we will cope without a certain plastic add-on nozzle. The attachments it comes with you will use, anything else you don’t need. Less for the dog to steal and chew in our house anyway! The Shark isn’t too noisy. It’s hardly quiet, but when is a vacuum cleaner quiet other than when it turned off. It isn’t as loud or annoying as some other vacuums. Our only criticism is the cord could be a little longer, but that's because I’m lazy and wish I could do the whole house without having to plug it into another socket. My wife thinks its as long as all the other cleaners we have ever had, and she is probably right, she uses them more than I do. I would just make it a little longer so I could be lazier!Ultimately we now have three cleaners in the house; a Fax, a Miele, and the Shark. My wife doesn’t care for gadgets or gimmicks, and she would simply go for the product that did the best job with the least amount of fuss and effort. Since we got the Shark the other two cleaners have not been turned on even once. If that isn’t an indication of its quality and effectiveness then I don’t know what else to say really! Does anyone want to buy a secondhand Miele? [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Having owned a Hoover (cordless) vacuum cleaner that cost almost £100, I was very dismayed after a few months as the performance was absolute rubbish, it was easier picking bits up off the floor by hand. Then, I saw this Shark lift-away upright vacuum cleaner on Amazon at a really good price - £169.00, which to be frank, is a really good price to pay for a good vacuum cleaner.Unpacking the vacuum was very easy, I didn't even need to refer to the user manual to set it up.What can I say? I absolutely love it and I have only vacuumed around one square foot of my hallway carpet and just look at the attached images to see just how much dirt it lifted - despite my already going around with my 'useless'cordless Hoover! It looks really good, very sturdy, well made and it really is powerful. I found it hard to push initially as it almost sucked my hallway carpet up and the natural pile of the carpet has suddenly resurfaced, making it look like new again.I seriously am not joking, if this vacuum was rubbish, I would not hesitate to say so but it is brilliant, I can't believe I even dithered for a second prior to purchasing it.Just look at the dust and debris it lifted from a small part of my hallway carpet, it's quite embarrassing, perhaps not to me but Hoover, who I am afraid in this case are the weakest link.It comes with an upholstery tool and another 2 in 1 hard to get to tool to make cleaning your entire home EASY! Whether it is carpet, hard floor, curtains, under furniture or those hard to get to crevices, this Shark has real BITE!Filters only need washing once every three months but I would recommend emptying the dust after every use to keep it in prime condition and working order.I, hand on heart highly recommend this vacuum and as an added bonus, if you register it within 28 days of purchase you receive a 12 month warranty plus an additional extended warranty of 4 years that will cover you from the date of purchase making it guaranteed for FIVE years. Now that really is what I call peace of mind - plus it is made in the UK, so purchasing this product benefits the UK economy too.Additional tools can be purchased for those with pets to clean away excess hair that ordinary vacuuming might miss.Impressed is definitely an understatement. If you want a good clean, it's got to be a SHARK!One thing - I almost had a coronary trying to vacuum, it is REALLY powerful, my carpets look like new, unlike me!Go on! you'll love it and it's guaranteed for 5 years!

Wow I'm impressed so far by this vacuum, I was a Dyson fan usually, until now that is! I ordered it on a Friday and it was out of stock, said that it would be delivered when it came into stock. It arrived the Sunday, by Sunday afternoon I had vacuumed most of my house I was so impressed. I wasn't expecting it to be better than the Dyson but it is so much better. With the amount of dust that the shark was picking up I wondered what the Dyson was actually doing..not enough evidently! The shark suction is so powerful it must pull the dust and debris through the carpet. The high traffic areas such as the front hall way and entrance to the lounge were the worst affected areas, even though it looked clean, the shark pulled dust and debris through the carpet, it took quite a few attempts before the Shark stopped picking up the dust. When I say dust it is like fine dirt/dust/grit.The Shark arrived in an upright box and is self assembly, which is quite self explanatory, it comes with two accessories which can attach to the vacuum when not in use. They are easily knocked off though, when brushing against things like curtains etc. It has a light on the front which can come in handy when vacuuming in the dark, or under the bed and tables. It has a on and off switch which doubles as a switch for carpet or hard surfaces. I also like that it is not too heavy and is relatively light and it sort of takes off, moves forward when it is switched on and the brush head is down. The brush head can be accessed and removed from the top, so that when stringy things have wrapped itself around the brush they can be easily removed. The filters get really dusty but they can be easily removed washed and air-dried and replaced. It has a detachable body so it can be transported quite readily, for doing the stairs for example or the car. I also like that it is quieter than my old vacuum. It's a great vacuum so much better than my old one and I got it in the sale at £149. A couple of niggles for me are..the attachments that come with the Shark are not sturdy enough to do the carpet stairs, I will have to still use the Dyson for this. The shark accessories that come with it are suitable for curtains and possibly the sofa. I may have to purchase the pet accessory for the stairs. The second niggle is that even though it gets close to the carpet edges it doesn't get close enough, I will still need my rubber pet hair brush for the edges. However that said fantastic vacuum i would definitely recommend.

So I'm a 40 year old bloke and I don't make a habit of leaving reviews for domestic cleaning products but wow! I've had this cleaner for a good few weeks now and it far surpassed my expectations from anything that's not Dyson.Previously we had a battery powered thing from Morphy Richards which turned out to have the suction of hyperventilating gnat so we had to buy something proper and along came this Shark...My included photo is what it picked up on its first run of our living room (approx 4x3m) (I don't have any pets). Now for the past 9 months we had been using the gnat powered rubbish from Morphy but this first go at our main living area makes it look like we live in perpetual filth. We don't.Well not anymore due to the Shark! It's stylish art deco appearance looks fantastic in any man's hands and its lift away ability makes it easier to get into those harder to reach areas on your hands and knees. So the pros and cons? Please note I have yet to try this on hard flooring as we usually just sweep and mop.Pros:It feels powerful. I mean when you turn it on and the roller starts to spin the cleaner is pulled forward itself (be careful of baby's fingers on the carpet directly in front - We almost lost one!) When you pull the cleaner back the roller spin makes it feel like the carpet is being lifted. It really does get right into the depth of the carpet.Easy to detach into lift away mode and to take the handle out. Lots of satisfying release buttons. Quickly slots back together after.A breeze to empty the container although I've not had to clean the filter yet.It actually leaves those satisfying "just vacuumed" marks all over the carpet (you know like cutting your grass like a football pitch).Power lead is plenty long.It sucks up almost anything. I found a whole pencil jammed inside last week!Cons:It's a little heavy to use due to the suction so may end up being a bit of a workout. The suction can be lessened by opening the slider on the handle but why would you want it to suck less? The largest attachment (I use for the stairs) with the smaller roller inside that sounds like a jet engine when you first turn on doesn't seem to have a place holder on the cleaner so I have to keep it aside when not in use.The hose itself sometimes doesn't seem long enough when in lift away mode so need to move the rest of the cleaner around a bit more as you go.All in all I would certainly recommend, especially at £190.Best cleaner I've owned.

Wow! I seem to go through hoovers at an alarming rate, I can’t even remember how many I have owned over the past 10 years and have had several well known makes, Dyson (3 of theirs) Vax (2 of theirs) Hoover (1). We live in a large farmhouse and have lots of animals, dogs, cats in the house and lots of other animals outside, it’s a constant battle, mud, hair, dirt being dragged into our home especially during the winter. The Dyson animal died so I started reading reviews and ordered the Shark Navy. Order and delivery was outstanding ordered yesterday 4pm and delivered the next day at midday. Pat on the back all involved! The Shark Navy arrived and after reading the reviews and being a bit of a hoover (nerd)expert I was sceptical having read the previous reviews, how could any hoover be that good?! Well it is that good, the dust dispenser filled up so quickly I was in shock at the amount of mud/dust/bits it picked up as I had only hoovered with my Dyson Animal (RIP) yesterday. The most difficult task was getting it out of the double boxed amazon packing. Extremely easy to assemble and took minutes to click into place. Much lighter and easier to am manoeuvre than my previous hoovers. The cable is the same length as a previous well known brand and to be fair it would never be long enough to get from one end of the house to the other. The suction which can be adjusted is so easy to change going from room to room (different floor material). The stairs are now a pleasure to do and it takes seconds to unclip and clip it back onto the main hoover. The house did not look particularly dusty (I had only hoovered the day before) but I had to empty the Shark after each room, I was particularly impressed that I was able to click open and clean the brush roller after use. We all have long hair (apart from the husband) I cannot believe that it was so clogged/jammed up with hair which had wrapped and trapped on the roller but it was easy to clean using both scissors and pulling the hair off manually. It comes with a five year guarantee so I guess the proof will be if it survives longer than the last few models. In short, a fantastic lightweight product, easily manoeuvrable, with easy instructions, cleaning the stairs has never been so easy with the clip off container. The only slight down point is that it must be emptied after every use (it fills up so quickly) but that is such a small point considering how powerful it is and how much gunk it picks up.

The Shark glues itself to the carpet like an F1 car to the tarmac. Seriously, this can mean it just pushes bits of card around rather than admit into the intake. But this means all that suction is going through your carpet and it shows. It's pulled filth out that I don't want to think about that my old vacuum wasn't touching. I have a houserabbit with fine fur and the Shark effortlessly lifts this from the carpet fibres. The roller removes easily, allowing you to cut and remove any hair wrapped around it (but see updated comment later about the cog that drives the roller). The worst bit of the design I've found is when using it in "liftaway" mode, without the bottom roller section. You really want to hold the wand with both hands for maximum control, but without a steadying hand on the rest of the unit, as the RPM of the motor changes as the nozzle touches carpet etc. it kicks the unit over. You end up trying to vacuum whilst straddling the unit between your legs to keep it upright. You can get around this by reducing the suction from max, and that's probably still doing a great job, but if you forget to dial the suction down, expect it to have a life of its own. Another design aspect that makes the product a little awkward when using the wand detached is that the hose is quite short and not very flexible. The result of this is that it is very easy to pull the unit over.In summary, in upright mode this is a fearsome vacuum cleaner that I thoroughly recommend for carpets and with pets. In liftaway mode and using the wand, you'll ideally want to dial the suction right down and hold/carry the main unit (which is light enough), otherwise you'll have it rolling around the floor all the time. I'd prefer the greater control over the wand from holding it with both hands.Update 2020/01/07Pros: Absolutely fantastic upright carpet vacuum. 110%.Cons: Easy to pull/fall over when using the wand. It would help if the hose was more flexible, but it's quite stiff and exerts quite a pull on the cylinder. The electrical flex is, well, not that flexible; it's quite a stiff cable so can feel like you're manhandling a series of lengths of copper and the rigid hoops have more of a tendency to hook themselves together and tangle. My rabbit's fine fur says the cog that drives the roller brush is a design weakness. You'll find yourself on your knees with a toothpick plucking fluff out of it (see image).

I received this product just before christmas and have used it consistently since then. I am in love! It is so easy to set up right out of the box and the instructions are really clear. It is not a lightweight machine and I was worried at first that it would be difficult to use. I have a chronic pain condition and the other uprights Ive used have been difficult to push. We have one main carpeted room then vinyl floors with rugs through the house. I should not have worried at all! The switch to change from carpet to hard floor is simple and right at the top of the machine. Normally its down near the floor so requires lots of bending. This one is far easier to access.Switching from floor to floor was so easy. The power of the machine was noticeable. I had already vacuumed my lounge the day of receiving this but decided to go over it again. The amount of dirt it picked up made me embarrassed for my old machine! One of my favourite features of the machine is the suction adjustment at the top. Some of our floors are a thick vinyl which is quite sensitive. If the machine is too powerful it pulls the vinyl up. (Old house with uneven floors!) Being able to adjust the suction means I can clean every floor in the house with this one machine. I don't have to switch between two I had been previously.Another brilliant feature is the access to the roller. Previously I either couldn't remove it or it was underneath the machine which meant turning it over and it wasn't easy! We have 4 long haired people and three pets in our home so the roller can get quite clogged! Being able to access the roller by pressing two buttons and lifting up makes it so easy.I can clean it out every use to prevent build up and it keeps it clean. The filter is easy to access and clean and the drum is really easy to empty. The lift away feature is neat but its not the most important feature to me so hasn't been used more than once. Its a selling feature of the machine but honestly everything else is so amazing I don't need it!Overall I love this machine. Ive been searching for a good vacuum which I can use and which doesn't make my pain worse. This is it. It keeps my home, with my family of 5 and plenty pets, so clean and I wouldn't be without it. OMG! What can I say??? My home used to resemble 'Mount Snowdon' all year around with all of the 'wolf fluff' that my Siberian Husky sheds? (I still don't know how it is possible for an animal to shed this amount on a daily basis? It defies all known physics???!!) Anyways, my last vacuum cleaner (a good one, so I thought) well,.....I was forever emptying it, cleaning dust out the filter after 20 mins of use! Then......after going on a few Husky Social Media sites, I totally fired off everyone else's comments of....''Get a Dyson, get a dyson, blah blah blah'' because.... a friend of mine bought one of these just to be different? And he was gobsmaked by it's performance!! TRUST ME, I DON'T LIE,OK? What used to take me three hours to vacuum my house, took me 15 minutes first time and now my carpets, stairs have never been cleaner!! Amazing!! It's the best purchase I've ever bought!! (Apart from my rescued wolf.) The capacity of what it can hold in the cylinder is staggering! A bit lIke going out for an 'all you can eat Chinese Buffet for 3 quid' or something? I didn't even know that it had lights on when I bought it? I had moths, making their way in from my window I left open, trying to 'fornicate' with it, because they are so bright? It's got better lights on it than my Mercedes, for god's sake?!! Doddle, to put together! Build quality is excellent! (Don't listen to the 1 star comments, they must be Dyson or Hoover employees!!) It's got a 5 YEAR WARRANTY too! So easy to activate and also assemble the thing! Save yourself precious time in life, by getting this model of vacuum cleaner. I might buy another one, just out of spite!! Hahahahaha! 10/10. Honest, I've NO vested interest in reviewing this. other than.....it's brilliant!! Comes with 'more toys/add-ons' than a Maybach Limo. :) Nothing negative, at all to say about The Shark. I wished I'd have bought this years ago, then I wouldn't have wasted all my time knitting 'dog hair jumpers for people that I hate, for Christmas presents, because I could NEVER get rid of all that 'Fluffy, fluff, fluff' wolf hair off my carpets......until today! They will be getting a 'pound' selection box now like all my other close relatives do this Christmas :) Seriously though, amazing value, well made, 5 year guarantee. It's a no-brainer.

I bought the Shark after owning several Dyson models that were a lot heavier. The first thing to note is the weight, this is very light and easy to move around, there is no strain in the wrist like I found with the much heavier Dyson. So in terms of weight its a massive winner.Features wise I love this thing - you can use it as a standard upright, with the wand removed or with the ‘lift away’ you can detach the main unit from the base and you have a light, easy to use handheld with mains powered suction. Again big win. The unit comes with the long straight attachment and an upholstery attachment, pretty much standard fare but unlike the Dyson the attachments do store on the unit which is another win.The suction is very good for a vacuum this light and the sliding switch between carpet and hardfloor is built into the power button so everything is there and you won’t easily forget to switch. With the nozzle and lift away you really do notice the pull on this thing so I can’t complain there. The bin is a decent size and easy enough to empty. So why 4 not 5 stars... 3 reasons:1 - When you switch the vacuum to hardfloor mode this automatically turns off the motor brush in the base. I don’t know if this is common, but with the Dyson I had the choice to override so that’s a bit disappointing. It still works don’t get me wrong, but at this price point it should be available. If you choose to leave the carpet mode on while hoovering a hard floor, this thing bounces around and sounds like its getting ready for take off.2 - a lot of hair gets wrapped around the motor brush. This always happens I know but Shark make another model with technology to prevent this. In 2020 I personally think we should be beyond having to pay extra for this feature.3 - the Dyson I had was filterless, so I have to remember to wash it out every three months. This isn’t a major thing and the Dyson was far too heavy, but there are a lot of warnings in the leaflets about rinsing it so I’m anticipating that it is not the best of filters. All in all I like it and with a 5 year manufacturer warranty I guess you can’t go wrong. A very useful, powerful bit of kit for this price range.

As a 50 year old male whos kids have left home and my wife suffers with arthritis so I do all the vacuuming in the house. For me its always been Dyson all the way and we have had a number over the years. So after the death of our last Dyson I was looking for a new vacuum when we came across the Shark.I read the reviews like most people and thought ok lets give this a try .... WOW was I surprised.First of all the weight is very light and the suction was amazing (no I'm not being rude) it was that powerful I had to open the valve on the handle to reduce the pressure as it was sticking to the carpet. The small dust and dirt container was soon filling up "Oh gosh I kept saying to my wife we areliving in filth" !!!!Yes the dirt container thingy bob is small but its ok as normally I would wait until I couldn't cram another bit of dirt and dust in there until I emptied it. Or on a bad day I would pretend I hadn't noticed and hope that someone else would empty it (typical bloke I guess).Next came the stairs, normally this is a case of lugging the whole machine around but I could just un pop it leave the main body at the bottom of the stairs and away you go. Great !! The lazy part of my mind has been satisfied. Its got lights on the front ...Not sure if I really need them but they look great ..Yeah lights !! Its a man thing like some kind of car accessory YEAH follow the lights and see what those dark corners finally look like that we try to avoid. Then I spend the next month boring people with how great this machine is, I'm even manoeuvring the conversation to work in about MY new vacuum...Oh yeah bragging rights !!I even get in a joke or two about us living in filth ! Even phoned me mum to play up my wife. (My mom promptly told me to shut up and get on with the vacuuming). So ladies if you are looking for the perfect gift for the man in your life this is my recommendation he may not thank you at the time but in the long run he will adore you for it.Shark if your reading this do I get commission ???? :)Had this machine over a year now and I love it ... Its MY vacuum and my wife is VERY HAPPY to let me get on with it.
