The blowtorch I've just bought is to replace an identical one that has given me trusty service for at least 10 years: probably longer as I can't remember not having it to hand. This blowtorch has more power than some smaller versions on the market, which is what I need for burning off the fine feathers on poultry that are difficult to remove with tweezers. For example, I like to make sticky chicken wings, where the skin is an important part of the pleasure, but bumper packs of chicken wings often contain wings with lots of feathers left on as it is assumed they are for stock-making. After pulling out the bigger feathers with salmon tweezers, I run over the skin with this blowtorch that quickly singes them off.Creme brulee, blackening the skin of red peppers or even browning the potato slices on the top of a Lancs hot-pot are all easily achieved.

The torch produces a good, strong blue flame (adjustable with bunsen burner type screw valve - for air supply) -> to lower orangy flame. The torch comes empty so you'll have to fill it yourself - but that's not much of a problem. The base of the torch has the standard needle valve found on small gas containers. All you need to do is connect a gas cylinder to it and transfer the butane.1st time I guess my connection wasn't tight enough so I noticed a bit of gas leaking into the air out of the sides. Did it again and made sure the connection was on a bit better and there was no problem. - just try to listen for when it's getting full- They do say to do it in a well ventilated area if you're notsure of yourselfAll in all a good well made/sized torch with all the features you'd need for kitchen (and other minor household work) jobs

I received this item hours after order and it worked for a week and sadly died at the dinner party I bought it for. We had grilled cream brulees instead of blow torched, the grill actually worked well lolI contacted Amazon and received a returns service that was awesome. I reported the fault on Sunday evening and the new product arrived monday morning?? How does that work? Well impressed. The new torch is still going strong a year later and comes in useful for anything from cookery to lighting the BBQThanks very reasonable price and good quality item

I bought this a couple of years ago and use this constantly for lighting the fire, lighting the chimenea and burning documents. Who needs matches? I have also used it for creme brulees! The blow torch is turned on by a rotating knob which is also used to adjust the length of the flame. It has a lovely fairly powerful, narrow yet long blue flame . There is also a safety lock on the side. It always worked well but recently I had difficulty filling it and it failed to ignite until I shook it. I have been very pleased with it though.

I bought this along with the suggested butane gas lighter refill. Super simple to use, refilling was not a problem for me. Really easy to do. My only fault with this product is that it requires 2 hands to use it. I assumed it was triggered based on/off. This isn't the case. You need to turn the knob at the back first to release/stop the gas flow. The trigger only provides the ignition. To stop the flame you have to turn the knob to stop the flow of gas. Apart from that it's great.

No problem in refilling this product. If you refill lighters you will have no problem with this product. NO leaking of gas and when safety catch is on this product is safe. The flame size takes a litle more adjustment care and getting the correct angle needs care so as not to burn. Top Tip: Turn what you are trying to glaze around rather than attempting to alter the angle of the blowtorch, it is a lot easier and you get a more even melted glazed effect.

Bought this for my husband as this was a recommend from Delia Smith's wrbsite. Not knowing whether it would be any better than the others on offer, I thought well, if Delia recommends it then it must be good. And she didnt disappoint. My husband did the best creme brule he's ever done. The flame was really hot and fierce but it could be directed to create the best caremelisation we've ever achieved.Very recommended.

After looking around and reviewing many of these, as i had heard you can buy cheap and then they dont work very well, i came across this one which once recieved i loved it and so did my husband, price is very good as well.My husband filled it up with out any problems, so i dont understand the negative reviews about that side of it.Would definately reccommend getting this blowtorch

The seller was responsive to all my queries. This is a good product with a poor instruction. The manufacturer was not helpful. Once the gas was inserted (I needed to use an adaptor), I struggled to get it going so asked my friend who's used a blowtorch before. She ignited it straight away and said it was a better product than the one she used at home (her family runs a luxury hotel).

This is a nice little Chef's Blowtorch, well weighted and very easy to handle making it a doddle to get the crisp browned sugar finish to a Creme Brulee. The only slight negative is the small safety slide switch on the side of the blowtorch which is a bit of a fiddle to operate (but then that might just be myfingers are too big).

Great product. Safety features 100%. Great flame and easily adjustable. Not too heavy and not too light, it is just what I would expect in a product like this. Very fast delivery and well packed. Fills from a normal butane gas cylinder, available from newsagents and supermarkets. It looks good too. The base is detachable.

This is a superb piece of equipment. Filling with gas was easy (following the instructions carefully), and using the blowtorch is very straightforward. It's certainly very powerful - my first attempt with it produced creme over-brulee! I'm beginning to wonder how I managed without one for all these years.

Ordered this before christmas as a present for the husband, arrived very quickly, good price, better than on the high street. haven't used it yet as i forgot to buy the gas for it, but i suspect being Master Class it will be good - have used their products before and been very impressed.

Bought this for my Husband a few years ago and still going strong. Not had any issues. Been used for lighting candles, making creme brulee's and lighting the BBQ. Many different applications and good control of the flame strength and size. Would definitely buy again or recommend.

I bought one of these as a gift for my boyfriend and it worked great but a few weeks after he got it, he noticed it was leaking. Amazon sent a replacement blow torch right away and it's been fantastic. Now we use it for everything from blow torched meringue to making toast.
