When I ordered it, I did wonder if I had more money than sense, as I saw some at the Poundshop. But when it arrived, I knew why I did not buy from the Poundshop. This is a sturdy plastic mug, and the hinges on the lids are solid. Not like the flimsy ones on cheaper items.I know it is supposed to be a soup mug, but I used it for my porridge. To heat my portion of pasta. And if needs be, for my coffee too, even though, I'd rather have my coffee in a nice china cup. But I spend quite a bit of time in hospital, caring for my son, and I need something that is practical, virtually indestructible and always on stand by. That my Sistema mug for you.I saw other reviewers have had problems with leakage,

These are so simple, yet so fantastic. I don't know how I've lived without them for so long!I've always found transporting soups etc a bit of an issue as there's almost always a leakage of some sort. I've resorted in the past to re-using those plastic soup containers from shop bought soups, but still the spillage issue.I love this cup, so much so, that I have several and even have the noodle bowls too! They have a rubber rim inside for a tight fit. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure if you tipped it upside down, the contents may escape from the 'flip' area, but oddly enough, I've not bothered to test that theory!These can go straight in the microwave,

I've got one of these in Purple and hubby has one in Red. We both love them! I use mine for noodles, occasionally I like a hot cup of noodles and I pop them in, pour on boiling water, lid for 3 minutes and perfect noodles I can eat out of the cup.I use hubby's for him to take left-over dinner into work which he re-heats in the microwave there. He's heated lots in his from home-made soup, to noodles, to casseroles etc. I haven't noticed any staining or the melting of plastic at the top where other reviewers have had that problem and I have certainly used high-fat stuff (Scottish Stovies is heavy in either Goose Fat or Duck Fat the way I make it) and both his and mine have been well used.

This is the second one of these, after my last one got lost in a move. It does exactly what it is supposed to, heat up soup in a microwave, without making a mess. It holds the heat quite well and the vent allows steam to escape during the cooking process. Just be careful not to over-heat your soup, as like with many plastics used in the microwave, you can end up with a slightly rough high-tide mark, where the surface of the liquid goes above boiling point. However, if you follow the instructions for heating your soup (usually around 3 mins on high power) you should be fine.What I can't understand is all the people complaining that it leaks, or that they took it to work in their bag and now they have soup everywhere.

Don't think this is good for soup only. The size is perfect for heating up a standard tin of baked beans, soup, stew etc with minimum fuss. Right size too for a decent portion of porridge in the morning. Washing up is easy and it's dishwasher proof. Ideal for winter when you get up feeling sluggish in the mornings, or later on come in wet and cold and just want something warm and fast. Easier to manage for anyone with mobility or co-ordination issues than a standard china bowl, so reducing the risk of scaldng accidents for the frail, children, elderly or flu victims. I chose red to avoid the usual issues with tupperware discolouration and red foods like tomatoes.

It seems from reading some of the other reviews that people appear to buy these in fours! I also have four of these and when either my wife or me have made soup we fill these up, stick them in the fridge and that's an easy meal either at home or at work for a couple of days. Anything microwaveable that has a seal that acts as a pressure release, my advice would always be to transport in the upright position as even if the seal is brilliant you may still get the occasional leak. As a result it's a problem I've not encountered when transporting these to work with me. Fantastic capacity as well, when filled to the brim 565ml is a lot of soup.These are simply the best microwaveable soup mugs you

Great mug - very convenient. Can be used to transport liquid as seals are pretty good - just don't store it upside down in your bag as the odd drip can escape if you abuse it. As others have stated - will absorb colour from tomato soups and will also retain some strong aromas - although these stay as aromas and don't taint the flavour of other soups. When microwaving, watch out for localised boiling damaging the mug at the surface of the liquid - so stir a couple of times whilst heating. If you don't stir, the mug will dance around in the microwave a bit as it boils - but the valve prevents your soup from redecorating the inside of the oven.

Useful for soups and stews, maybe a little slimmer would be nice for transportation as I wanted to be able to take to work but this is rather bulky.A few months later and l wanted to update as this has turned out (despite its bulk) to be a most useful item and l use it almost daily, either to take to work to heat up soup and such, or at home for a variety of uses; my favourite is to fill with porridge and almond or coconut milk (plus a few blueberries/coconut) which l can leave in the fridge overnight and zap for my brekkie, yum!I am about to order another in fact. Just one tip, make sure to pop out the little red steam lid to clean underneath properly, it snaps right back in.

Deserves every one of the 5 stars. It holds a full sized can of soup perfectly and shows no sign of harm from repeated microwaving. Perfect for use at work and really easy to wash.The only negatives I would say are that I wouldn't feel confident carrying liquid in the mug to work as I do think it would leak a little, but then I don't think it's advertised as a way of transporting contents anyway. Also any strong flavours do seem to linger a little on the plastic and some scratches are starting to appear inside where I've used a spoon.Would definitely recommend though and I would be more than happy to buy a replacement as and when I need one because I think I'd be a little bit lost without it

I bought one of these in asda and loved it. I needed another and found this and ordered it. It is great for stopping all those splashes in the microwave as the lid snaps on tight but has a vent to let the steam out. Its more than big enough to take a large tin of soup. I have not tried to transport the soup to work in the mug (I take the tin along with me). Saves on washing up as you can drink the soup direct from the mug or use a spoon. I love it! Only one downside from this seller was that you could not choose the colour, I had a purple one and love it (my one from asda is red)UPDATE June 2013. Now transporting the soup in the mug. If you do this, dont forget to close the vent!

I love all Sistema products, and this is the second soup mug I have purchased, as my partner and I fight over the first one! We cook all sorts in it and it's perfect. The other one we have is green, and is now a bit stained, but that's to be expected and I'm hoping the red one won't show any staining due to its colour.The lids fit brilliantly, although it did leak a tiny bit once when it was left on its side for several hours, but this is to be expected with any such item and I was surprised that it didn't leak more since it had been bashed about on its side for some time.I would recommend this soup mug, and any other Sistema product to anyone - they're fab!

My gripe about this generally good product is that the lid isn't watertight. It might be a good cover to stop most splashes and help keep drinks hot but its just a close-fitting secured cover - not a leak-proof top. The closable vent at the top is necessary because without it the expansion of the hot air at the top of the hot drinks would cause serious leakage if the mug is tipped to the point where the liquid is being held back by the lid.OK for general use but if you fill this up and and put in a pack or hamper a lot of it will have leaked out by the time you get back to it. Nonetheless my mum finds it makes carrying drinks around the house easier.

Very very pleased with this purchase. It is so much easier to heat soup in the microwave [not to mention saving electricity!] and with this item there is no worry of soup being splattered all over the inside of the microwave. I have used it for thick meaty soups, normal Heinz type soups, baked beans etc etc and have had no problems with it at all. There has been no discolouration from the chilli, curry and tomato flavours I have subjected it to and I am more than a little amazed by this as every other container I own has lost its colouring after curry and chilli has been reheated in them.Well done Sistema - and perhaps all things "New Zealand"!?!?!

These mugs are a bit pricey but, once you get over the initial outlay they prove themselves over and over. When we have a glut of vegetables my wife likes to use the excess to make soup which makes a satisfying lunch when out hill walking. Before we discovered these Sistema mugs we'd have a freezer full of pottery mugs with soup in, which led to a shortage of mugs and a few breakages. Don't forget to label them (we use masking tape) because identification when frozen can be difficult and we have thawed out gravy by mistake before now. They're useful in the fridge too, when you have half of a can of beans or whatever left over.

I brought two of these, one for me and my husband, to take homemade soup in to work. These are fantastic. We tried cheaper ones in the past but always leak or break so i was a bit wary about trying these ones but based on the reviews i thought it's worth a try. I'm so glad i did!! I also use the mugs to warm tinned soup in as there seems to be a bowl shortage at my work place, and its brilliant. I have had mine for a few months now and use it at least 3 times a week and it still works great, no broken clips or no distortion of the plastic.This is in my top 5 products i brought last year...and i brought a lot!
