I've struggle for years with many different egg poaching thingy's none of which have ever been even marginally successful. I kind of resigned myself to just using a standard saucepan and hot water; nothing wrong with that of course other than the clean up afterwards, especially if you break an egg.I read the reviews, just like your reading this one and looked at the price wondering whether this would be just another waste of time and money and thought, well, just go for it - so I did.It works! I'll just type that again cos I've just eaten two of the best poached eggs I've ever made - It works! It arrived via the speed of light amazon service - still don't know how they do that - and on taking it out of the box what a bright shiny quality looking set - yep,I'm swayed by shiny things sorry - so putting its looks aside it has a real quality feel about it. The lid is good and heavy and fits well and the stainless is good quality. Everything fits and looks likes it will do what they say it will do.The cups are metal and have a non stick coating but, like everyone else and knowing how awkward eggs can be I still buttered the inside. Take the cups out for filling - and here's the only bind, they're a tad small or, maybe the birds out here in the country lay whopping eggs but either way you may not get all your white into the cup but no worry, put it in one your not using. The pan only needs a couple of inches of pre boiled water and off it goes.I wasn't sure how long they would take. Cheap purchases in the past and I've still been waiting after 10 minuets but this is a much better quality and after a gentle 5 mins on a gas hob voila, two perfect poached eggs. You will need to remove the cups with a cloth after you have switched the heat off and simply pour them out of their pre buttered 'nests' onto a lovely slice of wholegrain toast .......simple things eh!I have read that the handle can get hot? I have to wonder how long people have left the pan to boil for? If you used it for other cooking then yes, it would get hot and require a cloth but for five mins on a gas hob? Mildly and comfortably warm - perfect for a cold kitchen like ours. All in all a nice addition to the kitchen which works! At last!

What an excellent pan. I've had it for 18 months and cooked dozens of eggs to perfection (5 minutes for soft yolks, 7 minutes for hard). It works brilliantly on our induction hob. The handle does not get hot - I can only imagine that other reviewers have gas - I'll never go back to gas now I've used induction! Of course the egg-cup handles get hot: these are immersed in steam so this is to be expected; and even so, I can pick them out with my bare fingers (quickly). The cups are metal, which speeds up the cooking time (but also makes them hotter to touch). They appear a little thin and cheap, but actually work just fine. The non-stick on the cups is thin (scratches easily - don't use metal on them),and I need to oil the cups with olive oil to achieve true non-stick, but this works really well. I use a plastic picnic knife to loosen the edge of the egg, which then falls out easily. This seems reasonable to me - does anyone have non-stick that works any better with egg white? It's great to be able to cook 6 eggs at once, and just as easy to cook one or two (but I'm buying a smaller egg pan too to make washing up easier when cooking just 2 eggs, and because with a growing family, sometimes 6 is just not enough!).The pan looks great and the glass lid is a bonus to see cooking progress without releasing the steam. Contrary to other reviews, steam does not escape if on a gentle boil - of course at a rolling boil the pressure builds and the steam will escape around the lid; but this just wastes heat and doesn't speed cooking. Perhaps I get more control with induction than others do with gas cookers? The pan itself has a reasonably solid feel, but is not too heavy to lift one-handed. The handle could be heavier gauge, but is OK.I recommend this pan, and would definitely buy it again (in fact I am - the 4-egg poacher)!

This is the same review I wrote for the four poacher pan, although I actually bought (this) the two cup one. I did that to correct a misconception some may have from a reviewer who complained that the handle gets too hot when the pan is in use, and she has to wear oven gloves to lift it. I can only think the handle must have been over another source of heat at the same time. Like many pans of this kind, the handle, though metal, is hollow, and I have never had a problem with it - at the most it gets slightly warm. But something that does get really hot is the metal knob on the glass lid. I do need "protection" therefore to take the lid off when cooking is finished - shame that doesn't have the black "phenolic handles" that the poaching unit itself has.All that being said,it's a great small saucepan, very solid and sturdy, and it cooks poached eggs perfectly, which turn out fine with just a smidgeon of oiling first (I use a low cal spray). The glass lid helps you see how things are progressing too. In fact the pan is so nice, it has become my favourite for everyday use as well as I live alone and it is a perfect size, and I like the fact it has the glass lid and a small vent to let the steam out, so it doesn't boil over. And don't forget the 15yr guarantee!

Although I bought the same pan but with only two poaching cups, I am writing the review on here as well, to correct a misconception some may have from a reviewer who complained that the handle gets too hot when the pan is in use, and she has to wear oven gloves to lift it. Sooooo. This four hole egg poacher works fine as long as you don't forget how to use it. Pro-tip, make sure to put the lid on when poaching your eggs otherwise you might become the second person in the world ever to burn poached eggs. Also, take extra care when removing the little cups from the top to remove your eggs otherwise you might also burn your fingers because of the terribly placed air holes that happen to be where the finger grabs are too. Hot steam will be invisibly waiting in that little hole and will shoot out and get you like a cat waiting for it's next boop victim. Now I am a dab hand at poached eggs with this thing. No longer are my eggs willowly and looking like an orange sun wearing a massive wedding dress.Nope, they are perfect round circles with nicely soft cooked egg white with a spendidly solder dipping ready yolk. Clean up is also a doddle as its just water! Pro-tip number two. Oil these a little bit before use and always use relevatively fresh eggs to ensure a stable egg white and strong yolk so you won't end up with scrabled egg disks. No more pro-tips.... Just get poaching!

Having poached eggs for years, my old cheap poaching pan (which was rubbish but all I had) finally gave up the ghost in October and I searched high and low for replacement. The Clearview poacher seemed ideal and could cope with mass egg production.....who only has one egg each when you're a family of four? Having six poachers is perfect and still fits nicely over the gas ring. We've used it regularly over the past two months and it has worked perfectly every time. Another reviewer's suggestion of using oil not butter works brilliantly and EVERYTHING goes straight into the dishwasher once used, coming out spotless every time! The heavy glass lid works well with its small ventilation hole and the eggs are easy to remove once cooked. The non-stick poaching cups do what they say and the pan is easy to hold and not too heavy. It took a couple of uses to work out exactly how long to cook the eggs for but we find 4 minutes cooks the white and leaves the yolk slightly runny. Just how we like them! One great way of getting an egg into each of my kids! Thanks Amazon :-)

Bought this as I have a new induction hob and my old egg poacher was not induction compatible. So I bought this although there were a few mixed reviews about it. As it was one of the cheapest induction compatibles around, I decided to just go for it!Firstly, it works perfectly well with the induction cooker. The pan itself is deeper than the one I had been using. So you only have to fill the pan a little more than half way and it is enough to get beautiful poached eggs.Secondly, some reviews said that the handles on the egg cups were small. To be honest, they are no smaller than the ones I had been using before. It’s not too fiddly....but enough to get the cups of the rings without burning your fingers. As the cups are non- stick, cleaning is a doddle, although I do prefer to add a teeny tiny amountof coconut oil so that the eggs are fragrant and also makes it just slide out of the cups. All in all, great buy. Why buy a super expensive induction compatible egg poacher when this reasonably priced one is great?

Bought this in June 2013; & feel this is the time to make comments about the item ( not within a week or so of purchasing ) this poacher must be one of the most used pieces of kitchen ware in my kitchen. Yes I did buy it as a poacher but use it more as a sauté dish; its ideal to casserole meat etc. Lovely & deep holds plenty of veg' & it is so easy to wash. After over two years it's still looking like new. With regard to the use as a poacher you do need to be careful on removing cups, best to remove from heat & then take the eggs out to avoid the steam from burning you. I still prefer to poach my eggs direct into water, when you can add salt, but my husband likes his eggs looking neater; the perfect round which you obtain with the poacher. So in our household it gets plenty of use. I can certainly recommend this as a most use full piece of equipment and would not like to be without it. Have now purchased another one for my daughter. Incidentally it can be used on induction hobs.

This is the best little egg poacher I have had.I'm not usually great at poaching eggs but this is very easy and out of the eight times I've used it I have had perfect results. Can't comment on its longevity because I have only had it for two weeks but it is a sturdy little pan.The inner part, cups and lid fit perfectly, the handle doesn't get hot at all although the knob on the lid does so you do need an over glove or similar to remove it.I fill it about two thirds full of boiling water from the kettle and as soon as it simmers on the hob I put the eggs into the cups, let it cook for around 3 minute and I have had perfect soft yolked eggs each time.I did grease the cups with butter for the first few uses but one day I forgot and after that I haven't greased it,it is definitely non stick.Easy to clean and the see through lid lets you see how well done your eggs are.I only use medium eggs and they fit perfectly so I would imagine that large ones would overflow.

We have tried several different designs of egg poachers and egg poaching gadgets without success, eggs stuck or water got in etc etc. As a final effort we bought this one, I thought it was a bit pricey but it is worth every penny! You do need to 'grease' the cups (I use butter on a small piece of kitchen paper) and then the cooked egg just slides out. If you have huge eggs (our hens do lay massive eggs at the moment) I find it useful to crack the egg over a small jug to catch some of the white and then when you're done, top up each cup with the white in the jug to a sensible level and, if you're cooking less than 4 eggs, you can have one cup of just white! I have also used the pan to cook other things,it's a good shape and has a well fitting lid so is multi-functional. We've had the poacher for a couple of months now and there is no discolouration on any of the parts. Overall this pan excellent is value for money and highly recommended.

Great egg poacher. I have poached eggs on toast every morning for breakfast and I have the timing right now for perfect (to me) eggs. I actually read someone else's review on that so can't take credit. I like the poached eggs to be semi soft, so that it runs a little and so once the water boils, I transfer the tray holding the cups into the pan, and then let it run for exactly 4 mins (add or subract 1 min if you want them harder or runnier). Even though they are supposed to be non stick, I grease the cups with about 1/4 of a teaspoon of butter/margarine as when you are ready to transfer the eggs to your plate, they slide right out.The only criticism I have and it seems to be common with a lot of these poachers and pans in general,is that the handle is all metal and it gets too hot to handle. Even though the cups have small non metal handles, I still need a towel to pick them out of the tray in the pan when I want to transfer them

At long last a brilliant bit of kit for poaching scrummy poached eggs? Very impressed and satisfied with this product. On unpacking the product I realised this was a high quality well designed piece of kitchen equipment.Fantastic quality and beautiful polished stainless steel.I used this for the first time and was very impressed.Amazingly fast heating on induction hob. Eggs cook surprisingly quickly. The non-stick egg holders are amazingly high quality, and have clever little handles for lifting out of egg holder.I placed a small amount of butter into egg containers prior to cooking process-DELICIOUS!!!TIP: Crack egg in to a small ramekin before putting into egg container.Boil 1 litre of water in kettle rather than boiling on hob.15 Year Guarantee included as well.Very pleased I spent a little bit extra for this superior quality product.I will no longer bother trying wasteful messy poaching in saucepan method!!!

Look & Feel - It feels like it is solidly made (and it is) and it has rather nice professional stainless steel look.Ease of Use - Very easy to "install", the eggs poacher cups have one screw (each) with a black nob. They all needed to be tightened up before the first use. While on (electric) hob the handle of the stainless steel pot and a little nob on the glass lid did not get hot.Preparation of eggs - The lid did not get very misty (like some do), so I could still watch my eggs cooking. :) They did not stick and all I needed was to slightly push them with a wooden spoon.Washing after use - the pot can be put into the dishwasher, however I did not use it heavily the first time so I simply gave it a rinse with a warm soapy water. There were no water marks after drying with a cloth. The egg poacher forms are also very easy to clean, just by rinsing. To conclude, I am very satisfied with this product.

Very happy indeed with our new Kitchen Craft egg poacher which I bought from Harts of Stur. It poaches 4 eggs simultaneously, and to perfection. I can't believe i've waited so long to switch from swirling a raw egg into a pan of boiling water, and switched to this simpler safer and way better methods of poaching. One small issue, the central knob on the poaching insert (into which the four poaching cups sit) came adrift after the 3rd time of using. The screw simply wasn't long enough to hold the knob in place. I called Hart of Stur, and spoke to a very helpful person in customer services who investigated the issue, then called back to say they were v happy to send a replacement knob. The new knob is slightly bigger, with a longer screw, but fits perfectly into our poacher, which is now even better than before. So overall, if you like poached eggs, or want to try them, get this poacher. Its brilliant!

Received the two-egg poacher, which was well packaged and all is as was described in the 'Amazon' item. I do like the fact that the pot can hold a more reasonable volume of water in order to do the the steaming of of an egg's upper surface properly. I've given up on all the gimmicky silicone things and the godawful microwave egg poachers ( who wants a poached egg with an overcooked yolk and albumen that is still runny on the outside ) so I've gone back to using one of these more proven designs - with actual metal cups that do conduct heat properly. As a retired widower a two-egg poacher is all I need. My only criticism is that the handle could do with a bit of heat insulation for when lifting it off the hob.It doesn't get red hot but uncomfortably warm, which could be dangerous with a pot of boiling water having to be moved around. Always keep a tea towel handy is my tip.Eamonn
