I thought long and hard about buying this item, I wondered what the real difference or benefits between my normal plastic dish rack and this stilt-house style dish rack but when I took the thing out of the box, put it in my kitchen and put it to work I really did love it.Firstly it looks great, really adds a bit of style to the kitchen, but the rack is also very practical and sturdy and the raised legs and drip tray are just genius. So much water goes on your work top and scum builds up under a normal dish-rack and this prevents this from happening. There is also a cutlery compartment which slots onto the rack in the corner and is removable, a nice touch, and the rack itself is 360 degrees so can be moved around to suit where your sink is or where it looks best.It is called 'compact' and this would be quite correct, some reviews complain that it does not hold enough items but I have piled this thing high with plates, bowls pots pans and it holds the lot, it does not look neat but the washing up never did and I do not have OCD so this is fine by me. I do live in a two bed flat, just the two of us and the rack holds just the right amount even on the busiest of dirty dish days, but maybe this is made for just two people rather than a 5 person family.I have given it 4 rather than 5 stars purely because large round dishes often sit at a tilt rather than straight up (as noted by other reviewers) this may be a problem for some but used correctly stacking dishes from the back to front it does work for me and because all the other features are so good and it looks great I am very happy with this dish rack.

Ideal for small kitchen sinks that may not have countertops, the simplehuman Compact Dishrack is worth considering if you have a small household and perhaps not so many dishes. It’s a deep sided plastic square bowl with a compartmentalised rack inside and a sensibly sized utensil holder.I’ve found that dishes do dry quicker than our previous £2 plastic tray job.The drain sprout can be turned in any direction and dribbles water out from the centre of the tray absolutely fine but I found the spout to be too short. If it was longer, the water could drain straight into the sink bowl and not the countertop. The second problem is the rather unusual 2” gaps for plates, plates will not stay standing up,everything just flops! I just don’t understand why they are like that and sometimes we just dump plates in which may not be space efficient but gets the job done. Some folks mention that the centre hole gets bunged up with grime/mould overtime and requires the screw to be removed each time you want to clean it. This is a long term problem and whilst we’ve not suffered from it, it might be come a huge annoyance in the future. It’s a great idea but there’s a few issues to consider. You might want to consider the

And advantages. Yes, plates aren't really stable; dishes don't fit between the supports of the rack and it isn't large enough for saucepans as well as crockery, glasses etc. However, the depth means that you can prop things against the sides and therefore get more in than you might think. For me, the main plus points are that it drains itself, and that I can move it easily. My last one had two tiers so stuff up top dripped onto stuff below, and the size and shallowness of the tray made it impossible to lift without spilling when it contained more than a few drips of water. And it quickly discoloured and then began to rust.I'm aware that the screw of the draining channel is self-tapping and might not stand too many undoings for cleaning, but I'll deal with that when and if.I'm considering getting a second one because even if it stands on the draining board itself it'll suit me better than using the draining board for saucepans etc.So all in all I'm pleased with this. It seems quite solid and well made even though there are flaws in the design all of which have been pointed out by other reviewers.

It fills up the space on the side of my sink. The size and shape could not be any better.Having a dishwasher, this dishrack gives me just the space I need for whatever gets washed in the sink every day and needs dripping. It does a very good job.The only trouble I was not aware of, before buying it, was the fact it doesn't take long for the black plastic to look extremely messy... simply because my water is very hard and the chalk makes annoying marks on the black plastic.I should have thought about that point before buying the item, so, it would be unfair to remove a star to an excellent product.Up to me to put up with the nuisance, or, to get used to dry the dishwasher as often as possible (Hmm,will I do that?).I think I'll take my time to look for a different model of the right size and, as long as I haven't found a good replacement, I will stick to this dishrack for as long as I have to.

I live in an area with very hard water and was sick of seeing the streaky draining board and metal racks going rusty and being awkaward to clean. I waited until I had a voucher to purchase this as it is more expensive than your average rack but I think it has been worth it. We have quite an awkward size sink but this fits perfectly and is well designed. Easy to clean and I haven't had any problems with screwing in the drain as some others mentioned. It sounds quite sad but lots of people who come over comment on how its a great design! It's true that the plates don't always stand upright but I don't mind them leaning over.It is probably not suitable if you have a lot to do but there are only two of us and if we have a big meal then I just place it to the side of the draining board with the spout over it to create extra space.

My draining board beside the sink goes flat if there's any weight on it so water just lies there rather than draining into the sink and the draining rack I had would then just sit in that and grow things unless it was cleaned after every use.So I was looking for something that would stand clear of the draining board and I could then wipe underneath it. But I found this and it's even better. It drains straight into the sink from any direction. It stands high enough that I can clean underneath it without having to move it although I've not really needed to.There's plenty of room in it, it looks great, far prettier than the ugly plastic thing it replaced, it's robustly built and easy to clean. It costs more than those flimsy wire or ugly plastic things but it's absolutely worth it.I love it.

My kitchen is a long and narrow galley kitchen in a small mid-terrace Victorian house, with the combi-boiler over the drainer, so when I saw this compact dishrack, in black to match my worktops, I had to have it.It was here before the ETA, and I just had to pull it out of the box and it was ready for use - no assembling, nothing. It is in a lovely shade of black, that is almost a mix of shiny and matt, and the cutlery drainer bit can be moved to any of the sides. I cannot believe how neat and compact it is, and it fits perfectly into the VERY small space (there's barely 12 inches between the drainer and the bottom of my boiler's boxed-in unit, and there's even space to spare)that I have, and now, there's no accumulation of suds or limescale.Worth every penny I paid.

After months of looking for a new dishrack, all that was on offer were cheap plastic or stainless steel racks. I wanted something black to match my kitchen. I then spotted the Simplehuman Compact Dishrack on Amazon. I immediately liked the look of it, especially having the cutlery container included. So I ordered it and I am so glad that I did. The advantages of this dishdrainer is firstly, the cutlery rack can be positioned on any one of the four corners of the rack (it just slots in). The excess water does not spill onto your draining board it, drains away through a central hole onto an adjustable arm so the water goes straight into your sink and it is very sturdy. It also comes with a great guarantee.I love it.

This is an excellent dishrack, BECAUSE OF ITS DESIGN IT ACTUALLY HOLDS MORE DISHES THAN THE STANDARD 4 PLACE SETTING. Its a box shaped design so all the dishes can be piled on top of each other and fits a suprisingly amount of dishes into it. The water drains away like a dream and has saved me and my husband a fortune as we thought we would need to replace our worktop due to water damage after all the drainage problems we had. (We have a belfast sink)The only criticism is the black colour shows up a lot of water marks making it look dirty and having to clean more often! Also the legs are slightly slippery so if you knock the dishrack accidentely the whole thing ends up falling into the sinkdishes and all!!

Comes in Charcoal or white, Charcoal Brilliant with my black sink unit, white looked cheap.High sides makes for tidier look to sink area, if like me you like to leave some items to air dry. Easily rinsed after use. Useful both in sink and on drainer as spout can fold completely underneath rack. Wire crockery rack and plastic cutlery holder both removable and easily cleaned. Moveable spout turns to both longer and shorter sides to suit your sink. Metal legs and spout means no puddles under it to be wiped up after use. Great for a single person or couple all the time, or family to augment a dishwasher e.g. for supper dishes when washer is already on.

Why is it that landlords always make bizarre choices in rental apartments? We just moved into a tiny London apartment with wooden countertops surrounding the sink. I didn't want to risk damaging the surface, so I looked for a dish drainer that would protect the wood from water. This is a very small dishrack, which makes it great for tiny kitchens, and it also looks better than most dishracks I've seen. The adjustable spout sends any remaining splashes back into the sink from whence it came. Sadly, it won't do the dishes for you, but it does make doing the dishes just a little bit more elegant and thoughtful. Worth the £24 or so.

We have an under the counter doublesink and just wanted something unobtrusive that would fit in the second sink and do the job. This item is perfect - fits perfectly (would recommend measuring your sink before buying if you want it to sit in a sink to be on the safe side)and does the job beautifully - is sturdy, well designed, sits off the bottom of the sink and has its own drainage which is fantastic. The cutlery holder doesn't stay in its slot perfectly but doesn't really bother me. Have had this product for several months now and very happy with it. Would thoroughly recommend.

The kitchen in my chalet did not have a draining board as the previous owner used a dishwasher. I hate those things so needed somewhere to drain washing up prior to drying butIi did not want to install a new sink unit as existing was put in just prior to my purchasing the property. This little bit of kit is big enough to hold the washing up for 1 meal and it's makings yet small enough to pop under the sink when not in use! Very sturdy, robust and I have no problems with the plates falling over (as said in previous reviews.) Expensive but i can see it lasting years

This is a nice sturdy drainer - I don't worry about resting my cast iron pans on it - and the swivelling drainage chute works really well. Two small criticisms: a little small, it's OK for my two-person household, but would soon get swamped by family quantities of washing up; the supplied plastic cutlery drainer is very tiny and doesn't fit anywhere sensibly (it would be nice if it clipped onto the outside of the drainer) so I don't use it.Apart from that, it's all good. I'd buy another one if this one were lost somehow.

This is an amazing little dishrack, it looks fantastic on our black sink as it fits perfect as if it was made for our sink. The drain on the rack is excellent as all the water runs into the sink and doesn't sit on the drainer. The plate rack is big enough to store your plates and pans and it has the cutlery holder which you can position on various sides to suit.It might seem expensive for a dishrack but it is money well spent and I love it.Delivery was very quick and it was free, what more can I say :)
