The OXO Good Grips All-Silicone Sink Mat is another fine product in the OXO line. Just be sure to clean it on a regular basis. To start, I removed the packing tag and sized up the mat in my sink. I have what I believe to be a standard-sized ceramic sink and the OXO had close to perfect surface area coverage. Cutting out the drain hole was easier than I thought it would be with a just few scissor snips. I used the middle cut-out, but there are guidelines to cut the top or bottom drain holes that work just as well. Be sure to make the right decision of which hole to cut, as your choice will obviously be a permanent one. The gray silicone kinda looks cool in my off-white sink and adds a little bit of flair to it.Working with the mat is great. It's nice to be able to place dishes down in the sink without worrying about chipping them. The silicone material is naturally a little sticky and prevents cups and glasses from shifting too much while moving them around while washing. The only caveat with the mat is that you have to make a conscious effort to wash the underside of it on a regular basis. I'd recommend at least every 3 days. All it takes is some soap and 30 seconds of scrubbing with a sponge and the mat comes clean. If you don't do it, bits of food collect in between the silicone slats and can get moldy and gross, which could also lead to discoloration and stains on your sink basin. Since cleaning the mat is pretty easy, I think the benefit of protection for your dishes and glassware outweighs the hassle of the extra washing, hence the 5-star rating.Overall, the OXO Good Grips All-Silicone Sink Mat is a stylish way to protect your dishes in your sink, but only buy it if you're going to be committed to cleaning the underside on a regular basis.

I did not expect to like this, BUT, I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this and wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone! I'm a traditional old stock reliable tools fan, so once I find something that works well, I'm a die hard fan. I WAS a die hard fan of the Rubbermaid real rubber sink mats which, is no longer available. So I reviewed what seemed like many different options, going back and forth, and finally decided to take the plunge on this OXO Good Grips All-Silicone Sink Mat. (Note: I had previously tried the OXO sink mat with the white and gray combination material because it was prettier but thought better of it and returned it because the combination of the two materials made me worry about food debris, mold or bacteria getting stuck in between.)1) This does not stain, like the Rubbermaid sink mat did which I used to have which required soaking in bleach to remove the stains and get it back to white. It must be silicone in this one that resists stains.2) As to the design and structure of this silicone mat, this mat is sturdy and there are little "feet" every so many inches on the underside, so it keeps the mat surface off of or rather, raised above the bottom of the sink which prevents debris from getting stuck under the mat, allows for air circulation making for easy cleaning and more sanitary.3) I also appreciate its heat resistance properties. I know longer have to remove the mat when I pour hot water down the drain, AND I can set a hot pot directly on to this in the sink.4) As to the color, it's a dull medium grey, but that's how silicone is...it has a dull finish. I've learned to accept it and more than anything, am appreciative of how well this mat performs and for its reliability.

I used to always use those plastic sink mats in my old house. I had a porcelain enamel iron sink and was always afraid of chipping either the sink or the dishes. In the house I live in now, we have a big stainless sink, so I skipped the mat. I thought about it a few times and even bought one once to help cut down on the noise. However, my sink is the type where it is larger and the disposal is right in the center. None of the mats I found fit it correctly so I ended up not using them. This one is NICE!! I love that the holes are not cut out, so you can choose where to put yours. I actually haven't cut mine at all. I don't use the disposal much and I don't fill the sink with water to wash (most things go in the dishwasher...and what I do wash is done under running water.)I like that there are little feet on the back so the thing doesn't sit right on the sink and get all creepy. Most particles just go through the cracks and wash right down the disposal without moving the mat at all. I also looooove that it is silicone because it rinses of beautifully every single time. I haven't gotten it super dirty yet, but I imagine you could stick it right in the dishwasher too. None of that scrubbing with a toothbrush stuff! yay!! It is a nice gray color that really complements the stainless.I wish it was just slightly bigger, (but I have a weird sink.) I may end up cutting the drain hole if I feel that it is in the way, but honestly, I like having more room in my sink to set things. I would totally buy another one of these! it is honestly the best mat I have ever used.

This review is for the OXO Good Grips All Silicone Sink Mat.We bought this mat a few months ago for our new stainless steel sink. We bought it mostly because we didn’t want our new stainless steel (beautiful) sink to get scratched and such. We saw this had pretty good ratings, and it hasn’t disappointed us at all. This has kept our stainless steel sink beautiful and pristine. Plus, dishes are a little less noisy going into the sink as well, and we don’t have to worry about our dishes getting scuffed at all either. This mat looks and feels like it’s made out of good quality material as soon as I took it out of the package. It feels good and stable in your hands. This mat does not seem to grow any mold at all.We had it for a couple months before we threw it into the dishwasher as well and never did anything to it. It still looked good and clean, but we threw it in anyway just to kill some baddies on it we knew were there from raw meat in the sink. After coming out of the dishwasher, it was still good as new. It did not warp or melt or change its shape in any way. We were able to put it right back into the sink and be good to go for the next long time before it got thrown back in.Pros: Good material, feels sturdy, looks close to the color of our sink, so it doesn’t stand out too much, cleans easily in the dishwasherCons: None that I have seen to this day after having it several months.

This is the perfect fit for a double sink. So if you throw dishes into both sink basins, get two of these. Its made from that heat resistant silicone, so a hot pan isn't going to melt this. Its pretty flexible, so unlike lots of plastic sink mats is shouldn't crack or break. You get a choice of three openings for the drain. Personally I don't want to tear open the drain hole, coz I'd rather just lift it out of the sink, when or if I have to clean out the drain. I have to clean the sink anyway. Sink mats are very practical, since they keep your glasses from breaking, when the dishes in the sink move around. Since its silicone, you can either boil it in water for five minutes,or use Clorox to disinfect and clean the thing.Another nice thing about this sink mat, is that its also a drain mat for the kitchen counter. When I wash out my blender, which I use a couple of times a day for smoothies, I used to prop it up on a dishtowel to drain. However, I've been using the skin mat. Since its so heat resistant, its also good when you take hot dishes out of the oven. It protects the counter top, both the Formica counter, and the wooden chopping block counter top too. So its really a kitchen sink mat, a drainer for pots pans and your blender, and a protective surface for hot dishes out of the oven. That's versatility.

Love this thing! I have a single stainless steel undermount 23 x 18 sink, and the mat fits perfectly. Prior to this I went through two stainless steel bottom grids. Whenever I'd take a close look at those stainless grids, I'd be shocked by how much black gook had amassed on them, and dismayed at how long it took to get them really clean. And although they were high-quality stainless, they did rust after a year or so.The silicone mat is a great idea. It protects the sink, and is SO much easier to keep clean. Because it's flexible & light, it's much easier to pick up & rinse the mat & sink bottom than with the rigid stainless steel grid. The sink stays cleaner because 1) food doesn't stick to it as much, and 2) it's so easy to clean, I find I rinse it down more often. And the mat stays MUCH cleaner because 1) it's made of silicone so things slide off it, and 2) it's a breeze to wipe it down or toss it in the dishwasher.(I haven't been this excited about a new kitchen tool since a friend introduced me to select-a-size paper towels years back!)

I ordered this to try in one side of my double sink, to prevent the stainless steel from getting scratched up and to prevent my knives from being dulled due to scratching against the sink. When I ordered this, I was concerned about cutting out the drain opening in the mat, but was happily surprised when I received the mat and discovered how simple it would be. The design of the mat allows you to easily select 3 options depending on the location of your drain within your sink. I snipped 14 small pieces of rubber to remove the piece of rubber to allow for the drain opening. It took maybe 2 minutes and looks great. All you need is a pair of scissors or a razor blade. The mat does slip around in the sink because there is no real suction, so I would advise not to get this product if your sink is much larger than 12 3/4" x 11 1/4" which is the size of the mat. Overall, I believe the mat cushions well, protects your sink surface, and is aesthetically appealing. I would recommend this product.

Bought this to replace a very tired and warped mat with circular holes that came with the house. A few times a week I would flip the old mat over and run my OXO dish brush over it when I'd do the sink. In between washings, I would just hose off both with the sink sprayer. It doesn't seem odd to me that it wouldn't be prudent to give this one a once over as well. Of course it and the sink basin under it would need cleaning. (If you had no mat, would you leave chicken soup fat clinging to the basin? No...) It's only downfall is that the slits are wider than my table knives and plastic knives. Your knives may be wider. Just ordered the OXO strainer to keep them out of the garbage disposal. It's not like the mat has suction cups that would make lifting up n edge to clean under or empty the strainer be a chore - just a flick of the wrist. So easy, that even though I'm placing the OXO strainer under it, I have no intention of cutting out a drain circle at this time.

If you look in my kitchen (and bathroom) it is fairly obvious I like oxo products. This product did not disappoint for me. To start with the grey color blends beautifully with my stainless steel. I was sent the small sink mat and it fit in both sides of my double sink. My sinks measure 14x16in & 18x14in from wall to wall with the drain centered in the small side and a little off center in the larger side. I am able to line up the center cut out for my mat on both sides, but I chose not to cut a hole in my mat. I have disliked mats in the past because glasses would fall over into the hole and sometimes break. This mat makes a nice surface for me to to place items into my sink without worrying about breakage. The mat also stays in place well. The bottom is raise enough that I have not had a problem with mold or slime. I will update if this changes. I just popped it into he dishwasher for it first cleaning. Very happy with the function of this matt.

Purchased this a couple of weeks ago. So far I love it. Purchased this because it was a silicone mat and not a "plastic mat" and also because of the excellent reviews. While I could of used a slightly larger mat this one is working out fine. The cutout at the top fit my drain opening perfectly. Has not stained no matter what I put in the sink. Will update my review in a couple of months.Update: I have had this now for over a year and still love the product. While it does not stain, over time it will get mildewy especially on the bottom of the mat. I wasn’t sure if that would happen with silicone since it definitely happens with vinyl. Not a big deal if you periodically clean the mat top and bottom with a toothbrush from the dollar store or whatever brush you have on hand and a cleaning agent of your choice (I found gritty cleansers like Bob Ami work well for many things and usually have one under my sink) you won’t have the mildew problem.

I was excited about receiving this dish mat to help protect my glass dishes from chipping with the porcelain sink in my apartment. It has fit the bill nicely, and there's certainly less clanging going on when I set stuff down in the sink. After a couple weeks' worth of use, the silicone mat does easily stay clean -- food does not stick to it easily. You can also put a hot pan directly in your sink this way, since it will dissipate the heat from the sink's surface. It was easy to cut out a section for the drain (mine is in the dead center), but the biggest negative is that OXO doesn't offer an "extra large" size that's a few inches wider since I only have a single basin sink.Using the mat does make one's sink a little bit harder to clean, but that's moot because the mat can be easily removed at anytime (it's never permanently affixed to the sink.) I recommend the product highly and I expect it to last a long time.

This is the second one of these mats we have purchased for our sink and we really love them. I mainly picked this version out so that we can put hot pots/pans in the sink and not worry about messing anything up. It also is really nice to help prevent more delicate items from breaking (our cat routinely knocks over dishes into our sink from the counter when we leave something out). It is easily cleaned with a quick scrub in dish soap but if you don't clean it regularly you may have things begin to grow on the underside. I have found that hand scrubbing the mat is more effective for removing grime but it also can be run through the dishwasher many times with no issues. The previous mat we purchased lasted for over two years and was still in good shape but we had neglected it for too long and were uncomfortable leaving it in our sink with the layer of grime that had developed on the underside.

The price seemed a little high to me for a bit of silicon, but when you look at what else is out there more closely you realize the cheaper version of the same product are all plastic junk and will just slide around. I'm happy I got this. It doesn't float, it stays in place, it's easy to clean (I throw it in the dishwasher to top off a load every now and then... a big plus over a large metal rack style sink mat). I use it in my Ikea HAVSEN Apron front single-bowl sink, and it fits perfectly front to back, with about an inch of space at either end. It really does the job of protecting the sink while I have a pot in there for scrubbing. My sink marks fairly easy so without this it wouldn't be long because my sink looked terrible.I haven't bothered to cut out the hole for the drain. I just don't find it necessary. When I need to access the drain I just fold the mat over. Works great.

RE: OXO Good Grips All-Silicone Sink MatThis mat is a little too large for our standard, generously sized sink from Lowe's. I guess you could cut it to fit better, but then you'd lose the nice thick, border. You might want to check measurements more closely. They recommend cutting a hole so things can go into the drain, but we left it as one uninterrupted sheet so it can perform the function of a trap or sieve. Larger items that do not go down can be more easily removed by hand. This is lightweight, doesn't slide, and has great flexibility as it is made of silicon. It's a soft landing for ceramic and stemware-avoid chips and breakage more easily. Our sink is the standard metal.Nice to have some protection. This mat is a good and necessary addition to your sink.************************************5* overall form and function4* fitRating: 4.5*So, 5* rounded up.

The two best things about this sink mat are: 1) it's very easy to customize for your particular sing configuration, and 2) it works as a trivet in a pinch. I never really knew I needed a sink mat until I tried one - it makes washing dishes by hand much easier. My lack of manual dexterity sometimes means I drop glasses. This has helped with that, and I haven't broken anything in weeks (a minor miracle, I assure you). I've managed to avoid chipping mugs and glasses, somewhat miraculously. It fit in my generic apartment sink well, though it's a bit smaller. They also make larger sizes if you require a different one/have a larger sink. The grey color does not stand out badly against a stainless sink, and subtly rests there until you use it. Being silicone, it means you generally don't need to worry about tossing hot pots in the sink, either.
