I originally bought two of these - one for my daughter's partner to take to work - he puts it flat in the bottom of a plastic carrier bag with his other gear on top so it stays level. He'd take left over casserole or such from evening before to eat at lunch time. The other I used for all sorts of things.Later I bought three more so we could take them on picnics for the 4 of us - storing individual foodstuff items each with a lid on and later share the contents out on to the four plates. They have all been used frequently with no problems both in the microwave and out.One thing I did find though after I microwaved some "cook in a pouch" long grain rice in it's own pouch and then replaced the pouchwith the Sistema 1.3 Litre plate with curry just on one side of the plate - lid on and vent open - to heat up the curry and keeping the rice on the worktop. The curry had more body than liquid and stayed on the one half of the plate where I placed it.I like to heat the rice in its own pouch or similar and not have the curry and the rice mixing together while cooking. On taking the plate out of the microwave after 3 or 4 minutes and removing the lid I found the base had warped - not cracked or damaged except for being bent. I can still eat of it and I use the bent plate whenever I heat curry these days.I can only assume that having the curry on just one side of the plate meant that side of the plate had got hotter on that side than the other - THOUGH THE LID STILL FITS ON SECURELY.This has not happened with any of the other plates or Sistema products probably because I now make sure the food is evenly distributed or at least foods with a fat content are spread out over the as they tend to get hotter.Already pleased with the rest of the 4 plates - I bought another to replace the damaged one so I had still had four perfect plates and so keep the warped one for similar heat-ups.

Nice for poaching fish. Keeps the flesh moist, cooks through in minutes and is so healthy because you don't need fat. Add spice mix or citrus to the fish before you cook for extra flavour. Try and use pieces of fish with the skin attached. The skin keeps it in one piece and stops it breaking up and falling into the water in the base. Much cheaper than buying 'fish in a bag' and you know it's fresh.I did have to practice though before I got decent results. Put in too much water or microwave for just a few seconds too long and you'll find the fish dry or water logged. You'll also need to adjust your timing according to the thickness of the fish and the age/power of your microwave. The plate measures approx.880ml. That's about enough room for two pieces of fish. There isn't enough room here for two dinners or even one full sized meal if you want veg. and all the timmings. Don't try and cook small potatoes on the plate, unless you're really careful, they explode. The poaching/cooking plate is easy to remove and insert. Four clips, one to each corner, make it safe to life the plate directly from the microwave without scalding yourself. The steam vent can be used to release steam depending on what you're cooking.I've used the plate for vegetables, asparagus and broccoli, but I didn't like the results and went back to using my steamer.Nice idea, great for fish, but you're not guaranteed good results every time.

I have quite a few of these Sistema products. I've been reluctant to review the deeper ones because I always take the plastic tray out which comes with them. The tray is supposed to be the science behind the steam cooking, but I don't want extra washing up of hard to reach lines and crannies, so I take it out.But with the flatter models, without the tray, these things cook brilliantly and evenly. I like to microwave jar sauces (curry, chinese etc) with frozen veg, and frozen prawns added. I freeze the contents the night before, and take them to work for night shifts. 10 minutes in the microwave, a quick stir and another 5 minutes, and a decent meal on the go is piping hotIf anyone is in the office late, they instantly are drawn to the smell and are envious of what you're eating, like I've prepared a great dish. All I've done is added ingredients which cost about 2 pounds, and makes for a better night shift over putting 2 pounds in a vending machine on crisps chocolate and cans (or takeaway)I do have a 3 litre Sistema plate, but the depth and the distance of the food to lid, mean it becomes a chore trying to get everything even. I know I don't use the aided plastic tray, but with the flatter models, you really feel that the heat is trapped over a wider area and is properly pressure cooking your meal

I love my Sistema items and have bought a few more, only to find they have updated them and made them better. This plate at the 1300 size is great for cooking 2 large pieces of meat, leaving them juicy, but no sloppy excess fat in the meat, due to the grate you sit the meat on making it a healthier cooking method also. The improvements I have found are to the hinges and the steam vent. The hinges fit better making closing the unit much easier. Due to proper closing the meat doesn't shrink.Still wash all the components on the top rack of the dishwasher for longer life and cook either at a lower % or on reheat- for same reason.I have so many red Sistema products now, it's like a parting of the red sea in my kitchen ?.Very pleased with this dish and it's updates. Will buy again

I bought this so that I could have a convenient way of cooking frozen fish and broccoli for my evening meals and it does the job pretty much perfectly. Since I cook it so often I like to have a means of cooking it that keeps cleaning time to a minimum. I find that the food comes out palatable if I microwave it all together for 11 minutes. The water that comes out of the food while it's cooking collects underneath the steaming rack, which prevents the food from being too soggy. I don't even bother to transfer the food to another plate. I ditch the water and then eat it from this plate. Once I'm finished I put some washing liquid and hot water in it and let it soak a while and then clean it off and it's ready for the next day. It's really easy for everyday use.

The build quality of this is very good and up to the standard of other products in this range. Probably the best quality microwave cookware I have owned. This plate fits just nicely in my microwave and is about as large as I would want to put on the turntable without the risk of catching. The slotted insert is good for draining excess liquids or for putting a little water in for a steam effect. I mainly use this plate for reheating meals and I find by putting a small amount of water in the bottom it really helps stop the veggies from drying out and the gravy from turning to rubber where it has coated the food.I am sure you could use this plate for lots of different things but for me the ability to reheat my Sunday dinner is all I need it for.

Interesting, I purchased this with a view to cooking bacon in the microwave (it did come up in the search for microwaving bacon). When I looked at the instructions that came with it they said not to be used with fatty foods such as bacon. Hmm, anyway as we buy lean cut bacon I thought I would give it ago - perfect. There was no distortion of the plate or rack and the bacon was cooked in about a minute - no spitting cooking oil/fat and no frying pan to clean, just a quick wash in hot water. As to cooking fish, I tried small salmon steaks (I'm not that rich) and they were perfect in about a minute, still soft and flaky, without too much fishy smell lingering about for hours.I'm really pleased with this purchase and would recommend it.

I’ve used this at least 3 times a week since July 2017 and it’s still going strong. I use it to microwave fresh veg and fresh fish (separately not together!). Great taste. Steaming is better for you than frying. Usually takes only 2mins in my 900w microwave (for a tray full of veg or two salmon fillets. I leave it to steam / cool for a minute or two before serving. This helps retain the shape. Also only wash it when cold.————————————————I like to research before I buy. Pet hates = fake reviews and reviews based on initial impressions rather than tried and tested experiences. So I decided to write my own frank and honest reviews based on at least two months usage.Let me know if you find this review useful.

The first thing I must say is that I just bought this today - and not from Amazon! I'm gutted as it is £2 cheaper from Amazon than the price I paid.So far I've only made one thing - steamed tuna with broccoli and carrot - and it was perfect and only took three minutes to cook (plus a couple of minutes standing time). There is no recipe book but the Sistema website has loads of recipes and ideas - I can recommend people at least look at the recipes. Doing that meant I cooked my meal for half the time I intended to. After all, you can always cook something another minute or so but you can't take away the cooking you've already done.I love this, it's just big enough for a meal for one.

It's simply the best microwavable plate/box that I've used.It has a good seal all around it so if you put it in a bag (provided you keep it flat) is spillproof, inside is a loose white plastic grid which can be used for steaming veg, but for heating a mean just take it out.Pop the little red flap at the top, reseal the box/plate and heat in the microwave, if you are going to heat food which will stain it, you are advised not only by me, but the little booklet to spray it with some oil, however I found that if it does get stained just use some Milton fluid (baby bottle sterilizing solution) and that gets rid of tomato based stains.Very happy with the product so far.

I have searched long and hard for decent microwave dishes and am glad to say that I have finally found them.Yes they don't seal 100% and may leak but at the end of the day I was not looking for travel bowls I was looking for microwave dishes. All you have to do is keep them upright. The vent delivers the perfect amount of steam to allow my sensor microwave to work perfectly and the clip on lids are a fantastic feature preventing accidental spills from happening. The colour is sensible as it doesn't show stains and they are easy to clean as well.I also like the fact that you can freeze, transfer to microwave and eat from the dish all in one.

I am always worry about using plastic in anything, but as I am now in travel and need something fast so I knew this technique for the first time in a deal of the day offers, so I decided to give it a try.So my first try was 0.300 kg salmon fillet ( I spiced it with a spoon of olive oil with black pepper ) , 200 g mushrooms and 300 g broccoli.I added 50 ml of water first then the salmon then the other ingredients.I set up the microwave into 900 and I guessed 13 minutes will be enough. The result was unbelievable :juicy delicious with the whole flavor.I was so sorry that I didn't know this before.

Great items. Freeze any left over food as individual meals so all I have to do is lift container out of freezer and microwave. All the convenience of microwave meals BUT with the taste and quality of home cooked meals. The kids love them and tend to eat straight from the plate (plastic doesn't hear) - less washing up I suppose ??.Although some find them expensive, I think with this item you def pay for what you get. The quality is obvious immediately and despite repeated use the colour/shape has remained exactly the same.

3.5 stars This is a shallow plastic plate with a lid, shallow being the operative word. It was too shallow to reheat new potatoes and a salmon fillet, which was a disappointment. I could steam some veg like asparagus spears and green beans in this, but not much else.I hate waste, and I will probably use this as a freezer box for various things, like slices of cold meat, or, having just ordered a dehydrator, to store dehydrated fruit and veg.Not as versatile as I had hoped, not quite a white elephant, but not far off it.

We have now bought a number of products from this Sistema range and they are all proving useful, particularly when you need to heat a light snack such as soups. In addition to being purpose made for micro-wave use, they are very convenient as you can often consume the food straight from the Sistema plate, dish or mug so no need to use separate plates. I find one of the soup mugs really useful to keep at work to heat up a range of food products for "on-site" consumption.Good products, highly recommended.
