I have been using this blowtorch for a couple of years now and have found it very practical as well as easy to use.Filling with butane (not supplied with the product) is straightforward - the nozzle on the canister fits easily onto a thin tube fitted into the base of the blowtorch. I check one has been correctly inserted onto the other by moving the butane canister gently sideways; if it moves, it isn't on properly, so I have another go. You get a feel for when the blowtorch has been sufficiently filled from changes to resistance and I normally stop in time, if not, a small amount of butane spills out and you can feel the cold but it doesn't hurt and quickly evaporates off.The length of theflame is controlled via a dial on the top and the flame is ignited via the red button on the side.I was wary using it at first but gained confidence fairly quickly, helped by the fact that the black ribbed plastic ensures you keep a firm grip. It also feels reassuringly sturdy, without being too heavy. Whilst it is not really an essential piece of equipment to have in the kitchen, it makes life a bit easier and I have no regrets about buying mine, even though it does not get used every day.

I bought this as a birthday present for my wife, and now that she has used it for the first couple of times I thought it might be worth sharing our experience with it. The device functions well, with the mechanical parts seeming to be well constructed and well though out. The top part is a rotating valve that has a three-quarters rotation covering from off to maximum gas. The red side button ignites the flame, which jets out to a little over two centimetres from the tip. The metal nozzle is recessed inside a black plastic cowl, which is undoubtedly a safety precaution to reduce the chance of anyone touching the heated parts, so definitely a good feature. The only negative is that the shiny silver parts that you see in the picture are painted plastic. This doesn't affect the performance (which is fine), and with reasonable handling there is no reason to think that the device won't last for a good few years. Overall it seems great value for money, and does the job nicely.

Perfect for baking or model making. I got the gas torch as an addition for the tool box. Easy to fill and use. The large knob on top is the gas flow control and the red side button is to ignite the gas. The down side is the control knob doesn't make much difference in the flow of gas, but maybe I have a faulty burner. You can also control the flame with the screw on the bottom which is part of the filling nozzle, works just like a gas cigarette lighter. On the up side I used the torch to heat a stubborn nut which was rusted solid, two minutes with the torch and the nut came away without a lot of spanner pressure. I didn't bother with the expensive gas from amazon as most corner stores sell it for under a pound. This is a great little tool for the kitchen or toolbox.Did you know that in New York USA... every place of business must have a spitoon and clean it every 24 hours.

Excellent product and as a previous reviewer has said this does more than cooking jobs. Its basically a mini blow torch so as the name suggests you can use it for pretty much anything. I have used it for all sorts including lighting coals for bakhoor (Arabic incense) Some people have suggested that the flame is feeble and couldn't be used to caramelise sugar. I can only assume they have not got around to adjusting the flame which can be turned up or down to make it more powerful. Its of a reasonable size that it can be hand held the base is a little big so it can make it a little clumsy at times. The only thing I would say that is a down side to this is although you click the red switch to turn it on there is no off switch and you just have to turn the gas back down until off.A very minor point, this is otherwise great.

I bought this for sealing the ends of nylon rope and chord.I use mine mainly for making survival bracelets using parachord. It works perfectly for this.It produces a much neater and cleaner job than using agas cigarette lighter (my previous method). With a bit of practise you can produce a clean neatglassy flat blob on the end of any nylon chord. This torch is also very useful when working on cars.I do a lot on old classic cars and undoing seized nutsis a routine problem. With this torch you can directa precise narrow flame onto a nut, get it up to red heatand crack it free with a socket or spanner. Much easierand safer than using a propane blowtorch which is justtoo big and fierce for this sort of job.In short, this is a good product with many uses.I very glad I bought it and wish I had had one years ago.

All too often we hear people offer unjustified, exuberant praise for their kitchen gadgets. How many times have I heard fellow cooks tell me, "I'd be literally lost without my die cast tungsten lobster cracker?" or exercising their shrimps in excitement over the latest rechargeable kiwi skinner? But here we have something which literally will blow you away. The perfect brulee has eluded so many of us for so long, but this little beauty will char your cap to perfection every time. You can even set it on a timer and leave the naked flame unattended, safe in the knowledge that when you return from shopping, your dessert will be crisp and nutty - as long as the kids didn't get to it first, that is!It's also handy for melting ice cubes. Be careful though: get too close and it'll take your face off.

Bought this for some small DIY/Hobby jobs where a small and precise heat source is required; I chose this item because the circular base looked reasonably stable. I would have preferred something with a bit more weight (e.g. metal), this one is mostly plastic, but for the price this is to be expected. It tested out fine, no problem filling with gas, ignites first time, easy to adjust from a soft candle like flame (air control collar closed) to a focused small blow torch flame (air control collar partially/fully open). No leaks or other problems experienced so far. Exercise great care when using, especially the blow torch flame which is not easy to see, but is obviously extremely hot.

After reading various reviews and looking at endless number of sugestions Amazon was the last place to look and the best offer. After trying it it was indeed briliant.Long burning with one charge. Nice regulation of the flame even with one hand (i guess small hands might be different story)Only thing is after igniting and ajusting the flow 5 seconds latter you need to put it up or the flame will go off. Not sure if it is a problem with my unit or just the way the valve works, and after few days it doesn't bother me much ;)Cant recomend this little torch enough !!!!!!!! For the price you wont find a better option

The torch feels a bit cheap - the only metal bit is the nozzle itself. The knob on top, the base and other parts are made of silver plastic and I have a feeling it may break if dropped. However, despite the low build quality, it works nicely. You set the power with the knob, click the red button to light it, and then it burns without you needing to hold a button you can put it down without having to re-light it.It doesn't hold very much gas so it only burns for a couple of minutes before you need to refill it, but this is easy, using a refill can of lighter fluid.Good for the price.

This is a good product which is as described. Easy to follow instructions indicating how to use for the first time, thereafter it is very intuitive. Filling it the first time was difficult because I didn't read the instructions thoroughly enough, but once I understood how it needed to be filled, it was a cinch. I have not actually used it for food preparation yet as I needed it for a different purpose, but given the excellent flame control mechanism, I don't expect this to be too difficult. Also, the man of the house absolutely loves it because it 'makes fire'.

This torch is amazing...Purchased it from Amazon's black Friday deal for half price, but would gladly pay the full amount for it.It's made from various materials that make it look very nice. The description said that you will need to fill it with gas yourself, but to my surprise on testing the item, I found that there was some gas inside the torch already.Tested it on a Crème brûlée, and it works a treat. Some of these cooks blowtorches are so expensive, but this one was perfect in every way.Highly recommended

It works fairly well, not very powerfulUpdated:Some months later.... I ended up buying a more powerful double flame blow torch (recommended)Unfortunately somehow fluff had got in the gas tank & made it's way to the jet & the unit became inoperable. Whilst trying to dismantle it to get rid of said fluff things started to fall off & now its defunct, kaput. So, surely "fluff" being an issue is an isolated occurrence, & don't try to dismantle unless your ready to do some soldering & fixing.

Bought these to perfect my creme brulee and it does its job really nicely, It looks stylish and is a very handy size. Looks more expensive then it is if you compare it to some of the more expensive alternatives. Packaging is nice also. All in all a very happy purchase and would recommend to anyone who enjoys to cook for others and wants their food to stand out, For the Creme Brulee it is sooo much easier to do then to put it under the grill, which was a nightmare. Love it :-)

I never review items on here, even if there great.I just noticed some people stating that their lighter does not produce a blow torch like flame, but rather like the flame from a lighter. There is a screw-able sleeve/nut on the arm of the lighter that when unscrewed covers an air hole which causes this flame. All the views stating it doesn't work are incorrect. All you need to do is screw it all the way back to the body of the lighter.SORTED!10/10 great blow torch

Living in Crete it's not always easy to access certain items - that's why Amazon is such a boon. This cook's blowtorch is great - it's light and easy to use at any angle. I wanted it specifically for creme brulees but have also tried dipping strawberries in water then caster sugar (holding them on a cocktail stick) and then caramelising the sugar with the torch - toffee strawberries - delicious! Well worth the money - even with the postage!
