Bought these for a trip to Arctic Norway - did an amazing job - never had a boot so grippy on ice and snow - the new Vibram sole for ice/snow is astonishingly good - never slipped when wearing them ( I did when wearing a pair of North Face snow boots on the same trip ).I have a very high instep and had to wear thin socks to fit comfortably in the boots but my feet didn't get cold - even out at night in temperatures of minus fifteen standing for hours photographing the Northern Lights - but please don't be put off by that - most people will be able to comfortably wear thick socks if they want to. Lacing is secure and the boot provides plenty of support and padding/insulation without digging into your Achilles as some boots do.

These are extremely comfortable and warm boots and I've felt very safe walking on snow covered pavements and the sloping pathway to my house in snowy conditions. I would not have ventured out wearing ordinary shoes or boots in such conditions and think the Vibram Arctic grip soles are just excellent. I've not tried them on ice so cannot comment. I bought them for safety and am just about to buy another pair in case Merrell ever stop making them.In addition to the fit and safety aspect, the tan ones which are the ones I have, are a great colour, with both the leather and the faux fur having a quality finish. The laces are ample long enough to do a safety double tie-up.

These boots are great in the snow. I was looking for boots that are warm and grip well. They are nice and warm even with one pair of socks and I have used them in the snow and ice for a month now and haven't slipped at all. I would have given them five stars but the boot is very rigid which has caused the top of my foot to become bruised. I find extra padding helps. I did buy a size up but really could have bought my usual size but I was worried they would be tight with extra socks on. I did slip on pure ice but I don't think there are any boots that would work well on ice except for ice skates.

I bought a 9, since reviews were saying they run small, and I normally wear an 8 wide or 8.5 when wide is not an option. They fit perfect with thick socks. The bottom up to the top of the foot is rubber over to a leather near the grommets. The bottom is rugged, with a felt type substance on the areas as colored in the pictures. This material works to give additional grip on icy surfaces. However, if there is a wet icy surface, skating is the best option.

The short time I tried these in they felt super warm and will be ideal for my trip to Iceland. Not yet tested for grip on ice etc. but tried to get them to slip on various floors and couldn’t get them to move so hopefully they will be ok but taking grippers just in case. Ordered a 5 as normally 5 in trainers but had to return as too large, my actual size of a 4 fitted just right so I would say true to size

I live in an area prone to snow & icy conditions - i needed a boot made for walking on slippery surfaces - the Arctic Grip fits the bill. Thought I’d be trading comfort for safety, but it turns out these boots are extremely comfortable - they have the Merrell air cushion.

I haven't tried them out on the ice yet, but these winter hikers seem super comfortable so far. I wear an 8 or 8.5 normally, but I ordered an 8.5 considering I'd probably be wearing thick socks, and they fit perfectly. Can't wait till next winter to walk on ice!

Needed an all purpose snow shoe. Recently went snow shoeing and loved these boots. They we so comfortable as we walked all day. It has great arch support as I have been dealing with plantar fasciitis. They grip the snow so we’ll. I love these boots!

EVENTHOUGH I HAVEN'T HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO ACTUALLY WEAR THESE BOOTS OUT YET, THEY FEEL FINE AS TO THE FIT. I PURPOSELY ORDERED UP 1/2 SIZE TO ACCOMODATE MY THICK SOCKS FOR THE WINTER. BUT I SUSPECT, ORDERING TRUE TO SIZE WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE.

I usually take a size 7 in boots but found the size 6 to be a good fit for me. These boots are very good for walking in slippy/icy conditions which is exactly what they are supposed to do. Very pleased with them.

These boots were life saving for delivering packages 15K steps a day in the cold snowy weather! Very good traction, dry, warm, and safe. Excellent purchase choice. I was thanking myself daily for buying them!

Nice looking boot and has a standard Merrill fit, which is perfect for me even with thick winter socks. Don't know yet about how they'll do in snow or ice, but worked great in rain and cold.

Great boot, did not require breaking in period. Warm and water proof in light snow and rain. Traction is minimal though on ice. Haven’t had to use in deeper snow or below zero weather yet.

I wouldnt wear these to a cock fight, i think they are ugly as homemade sin but they were for my wife and she loved them. Fit was great and she was happy with them so i guess we both win

As a person who doesn't want to slip on ice, this is the pair of boots to own! This is my second pair! No doubt that I would only order the Merrill Aurora Boot with the Artic Grip!
