I really like the color, style, and especially how lightvthey are. I ordered a half size bigger than I normally wear. They are still too small for thick socks. I tried them for the first time last night with medium socks and by the end of the might my left foot was killing me. Now, I need to preface this with the fact that I have three layers of orthotics in there. One is a gel insert that goes from heel to toe. Another is a Dr Scholls hard insert. The last is a Dr Scholls half length gel insert. So yes, a lot of room was taken up with those. If you have plantar fascias just know that out of the box these won’t work. But, with all those inserts my heels were fine after the evening was over. The sore part was on the top of my foot where one of the shoelace thingies rubbed. I have ordered longer shoe laces in the hopes that being able to tie them a little looser will take care of the problem. I really want these shoes to work out. I will update this review when I receive the longer shoelaces.9/28/18 Update — I am glad I bought the longer shoelaces (54”). By adding arch support and the longer shoelaces these shoes are very comfortable. They should provide lots of support over uneven surfaces, something my tennis shoes couldn’t do. I am a very happy customer now. I am upgrading to 4 stars from 3. I am not giving 5 stars because they should have provided more arch support without me having to put in more.

First, I'm using these in a suburban environment. I cannot comment on using them for true hiking, but my kids and I do a lot of urban exploring which involves both paved and natural ground, dry and wet with algae surfaces. The fit of these is nice, with a wide rounded toe box. They aren't super padded and cushy (which I like), but they have a firm supportive sole that provides some give on hard surfaces. If you like a really cushy shoe, you probably won't care for these. I would describe the experience of walking on pavement as similar to walking on a lawn barefoot. The thing that is my favorite, though, is the tread pattern. They have great grip, are nonmarking, and don't squeak. But the treads are broken up in a way that allows my foot to flex and bend naturally without the shoe getting in the way.A bonus I didn't really expect is that they breathe nicely and even in 100* temps, my feet aren't uncomfortably sweaty or hot.TLDR; These shoes meet all of my needs for urban exploring adventures, while keeping my feet and ankles happy.Edit: I'm going through my reviews and I honestly still love these sneakers. Repeat everything I said before but after regular use for years.

I've never been a fan of hiking boots or shoes but I needed something besides my running sneakers for a recent trip to Peru and Machu Picchu. I knew I wanted Merrells but was torn on which style to choose. After reading all the reviews for a few styles I settled on these. So glad I did, these turned out to be perfect! For reference I usually wear a 7.5 - 8 and went with the 8 in these. They were comfy out of the box and required very little, if any, breaking in. I hate bulky socks and wore these with thin athletic socks (like I would wear with running shoes). I had only worn them around the house for a few hours before making the trek up Machu Picchu!I also wore them for 24 hours straight during our travel home to the US from Peru - that included 3 flights/11 hours total time on planes plus a 3-hour train ride. Don't get me wrong, I was happy to get them off when the time came but they never hurt me in any way.I have read some reviews that question the durability of these shoes over time. To be honest, these are the most comfortable hiking shoes I have ever tried on/worn and will gladly repurchase these over and over as needed.

Merrell products do not lack in quality or comfort. I've had a different pair for years whuch have been the best all-around walking, hiking, every-day shoe. Now that I need to replace my current pair, I've tried 2 different Merrell models which both ran about a 1/2 size too big - Tokota 2 Hiker & Moab 2 Vented Hiker. Even my hard plastic orthidics did not compensate for it. The Women's Siren Edge Hiker arrived today, and feel perfect (even with my ortodics inserted underneath the removable sole inserts) as I walk around the house to test them out. The toe box is comfy because of the soft, flexable material; heel fits good; and ankle cut-outs are perfect for me - no rubbing. These shoes will be doing double duty as sneakers & hikers. The color is true to what's puctured on Amazon. It's listed as bright red, but the main fabric is more of an orangey-pinky-red in my opinion. I do like the bright colors. Hope the pictures help. I would highly recommend this shoe. No, I was not paid to do a review - I'm an ordinary customer.

I recently wore these on 2 very different terrain hikes. The first was in the mountains also navigating water, level of hike was moderate not extremely steep inclines but enough that good traction was necessary and also in the desert with sliding rocks. I have a slightly wider foot but not enough that I need a wide shoe and these fit perfect. I'm between an 8.5-9.5 women's depending on brand and I went with the 9.5 so I could add inserts and accommodate thick socks. I think for a lightweight hiking shoe these did quite well. They don't fully cover the ankle so if you're looking for a higher shoe with ankle support you'll need to have additional ankle brace. They are not water proof but somewhat water resistant, dry quickly although once they become wet they are slippery and lack good traction! Overall I'm happy with my purchase and will definitely recommend these especially as a summer hiking shoe.

I don't think I've ever reviewed a pair of shoes, but I feel compelled to review these. I LOVE THEM! First of all, I am tall and have proportionally large feet. This means I often end up in men's shoes for running and hiking. Thank you to Merrell for making large enough shoes that I could order these in a women's size! So that was exciting. I bought these for a trip to Africa where I wanted something sturdier than my running shoes but less bulky than a hiking boot. These were perfect, plus they are cute! I wore them for hiking, for climbing on boulders, for walking around town, AND for a two-day mountain bike race. I didn't break them in at all before the trip, and they far exceeded my expectations. My feet were happy and the shoes have so far held up under a lot of abuse. I'm going to order at least one more pair sooner than I need to in case Merrell ever stops making these.

I’m not a regular hiker, living in flat-as-a-pancake Illinois, but with a hiking weekend in Sedona on the horizon I needed something better than my slip-on sneakers. After shopping at all the outdoor/sports/shoe stores, I just couldn’t justify spending upwards of $100 on an unattractive pair of hiking shoes I’d likely never wear again. Enter these beauties...I shipped them straight to Sedona and thankfully the size 8s were a perfect fit (I’m usually a 7.5/8). But even better, they were absolutely amazing through the different terrains we hiked; sandy paths through the woods, rocky paths through the red rock and even up the face of Bell Rock! My courage failed eventually, but my Sirens didn’t slip once. And the best part is that they are a great, comfortable, good looking athletic shoe that I’ll be happy to wear any day at home. Money well spent!

I have flat feet and bunions. We planned a vacation to several National Parks where we wanted to hike. My feet often hurt from shoes that have too small of a toe box, too much arch support or not enough. I read the reviews for these shoes and ordered the Merrill Women’s Siren Edge Hiker. These shoes gave my feet great support, never slipped on rocks and never hurt. The toe box was wide enough to not hurt my bunions. The shoes were not heavy or bulky. We hiked for many miles and these shoes never caused me pain. I wore them even when not hiking. Even when roots and rocks were on the trail, these shoes supported my feet. They didn’t slip or roll.I am very impressed with the shoes and recommend them for hiking or if you are on your feet for long periods of time. Great support, comfortable and stylish. Great shoes.

I am not a hiker but look for quality shoes as a nurse on my feet for 12 plus hours a day. I wore these shoes out of the box for 2 shifts in a row and have no complaints. They are not a cushiony shoe, which I prefer because the cushiony shoes hurt my knees, so if you’re looking for a soft feel this is not the shoe for you. I’ve worn Shox for the last 15 yrs to work and am used to a stiff heel/non cushiony foot bed and these were a somewhat comparable feel. (Can’t Find Shox anymore). The ball of the foot could use a little more padding for my liking but I was used it the feel by day 2. The tow box is very roomy. I normally wear a 6.5 and bought a 7 based on reviews but feel that a 6.5 would have fit me just fine.I’m really liking these and will purchase again. Not dissapointed!

I had my fingers crossed when I ordered this shoe. My feet are difficult to fit, sometimes a 6.5 other times a 7. Then you add in scars on my heels, bunions, and poorly healed broken toes - you get the picture.I ordered these shoes because someone wrote about a wider toe box, and compared to a lot of Merrill’s it is. But while the toe box is wider, the heel isn’t, so there is no slip and slide. The cushioning in the heel stops any rubbing on my scars and the material that the shoe is made of doesn’t rub on my bunions. I bought a size 7 and with socks it will be perfect. The soles of these shoes will give a lot of traction and while not what I would call stylish, they are a nice looking hiking shoe.I wouldn’t hesitate to buy these shoes again.

I needed hiking sneakers for a trip to the Catalina Mountains in Tucson, Arizona. I'm not a hiker so I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm normally a 7 1/2 in shoes and sneakers, average width, and I chose the 8 to be safe from other reviews. The 8 fit perfectly. I got a slightly thicker sock because I was nervous about wearing them for the first time the day of the hike but I think they would have been fine with a regular/thinner sock. There was no rubbing on my back heal or toe bumping the front and being uncomfortable. The one tip I have for people - they do "squeak" if you're walking on hardwood/tile floors but I took a nail file and "filed" the bottom soles for a good 5 mins and the squeaking was gone.Hope that helps!

Another win from Amazon.com! Love these shoes. I work in a school cafeteria lunchroom and needed some good "slip-resistant" shoes and I am not a big fan of the ugly, plain-bulky-black, boring, uncomfortable shoes the school offers for their employees, instead I purchased these and they work fantastic for me and are very comfortable. Being on my feet, standing/walking all day, 7-8 hrs. these are great! Highly recommend. I have purchased a pair of Merrells at a shoe store before I purchased these, so I knew they'd be great. And yup, these didn't disappoint me. I plan to purchase another pair soon just to have on hand for next school year.Runs true to size.....I wear size 8 in tennis shoes and they were perfect fit.

I bought these shoes for hiking in Peru. They fit amazing and didn’t need any break-in period! Runs true to size, spacious toe box, and comfortable to wear everyday. I’ve hiked the Sacred Valley & Machu Picchu in two days - total about 14 hrs, and my feet feel awesome!! Only problem, DO NOT wear on wet surfaces. That’s worth repeating, AVOID wet surfaces! It’s like trying to walk on ice with dress shoes. I brought these shoes for hiking & city exploring during my travels (they are that comfortable), but it rained last night and it wasn’t pretty. I’m hoping no more rain while I am in Peru, or I will need to purchase another pair of shoes. I recommend these shoes and would buy again ,but only use on dry surfaces.

Yay! I have been looking for lightweight, comfortable, sturdy-yet-not-clunky walking shoes for years. I wear a size 10, I'm 58 years old, and I like to be active but often find that the shoes I'm wearing aren't right for the situation. I have plenty of comfy loafers, sandals, cute winter boots with heels....but when I want to go for all long walk, or a moderate hike, I don't want to wear my heavy hiking boots, and yet nothing else seems supportive enough. These, though, are fantastic,. When I opened the box I was afraid they wouldn't fit - usually a 10 looks BIG, but these didn't. However, they fit great, have excellent arch support, a nice firm rugged sole, and they're lightweight. And they look good.

I ordered a size 9 as I always wear darn tough socks with my Merrill shoes (for street shoes I wear 8.5, but you should always size up with hiking and running shoes to accommodate thicker socks and your feet expanding). These fit perfectly. I can see why these were rated number 1 in hiking shoes for women. LOVE the color too- it’s more of a deep pink vs. bright red.I was surprised at how LIGHT they are. Not clunky or heavy. They are so SO comfortable too!! I’m really glad I bought them. Already used them for hiking and they have excellent grip on rocks and rough terrain. Keep in mind these are not a hiking boot- much different. You could definitely use them for trail running in addition to hiking.
