I've worn Tim's Euros for as long as I can remember, and my first pair took about 6 years to finally wear down enough to need a replacement. I'm planning a decently long trip that kicked me into gear with this. I wanted a better ankle and arch support, and no matter what I looked at I kept coming back to things like my old pair. If it's relevant- I'm also lusting after Lowa Renegades, but I'm happy to replace my old daily boots regardless and see how they handle before I jump a few tiers in price range.I've not had much chance to break them in yet, but on initial impressions:1) Standard size + the amazon recommendation was a half size too small. I'm an 8 in everything, always, including multiple styles of Timberlands the past decade and still am an 8.5 length (and probably width practically, but I'm narrow so it works there). If I planned on these for a winter trip instead of summer, I'd easily say a whole size to acccomodate for better socks, but for these I'll use mostly thin smartwool, more than likely.2) Ankle feels more snug and stiff than I remember my old Euro's being, but it's shorter/lower as well. We'll see how that plays out for actual support later I suppose.3) Support is decent, but my original plans to sub out with better insoles if these made the cut for my trip is going to be impacted by how much smaller the cut is. Make adjustments accordingly.

I honestly love these shoes. I wear them for farm work on rain, mud, or dry soil for about 8.5 hours a day. After the sixth hour my feet start hurting. It has somewhat wide toe which fits perfectly my foot and still allows for think socks. The thing has been water resistant and keeping my toes dry, cannot say waterproof because I have not tried them yet in heavy downpour. First time I ordered Amazon send me a pair of used shoes and I almost cried, but they replaced them for new ones free of charge thanks lord. The color is super attractive, they break in right the way. I have used them for farm work for two months five days a week, they are looking almost new and the sole feels good.I would have liked a little bit more arch support. I took them hiking once on moderately steep terrain and they preformed beautifully, hiked for two hours and no pain, great stability, had to adjust the ties once though which I am not used to. In a normal working day I would adjust the ties at least four times. Also hit them a couple of times with a very sharp farming knife and only scrapped the toe part, did not cut through which was AWESOME (for my toes). I have a couple of screws in one ankle which makes it painful almost any ankle high shoe, but these shoes hug jut right that my ankle is not painful for about four hours straight of work.

These shoes. I LOVE them. For months out of the year I live in these shoes 16 hours per day, seven days a week without fail. I have dragged several pairs of these across the country, trampled them through salt/fresh water, have scraped them to heck on Maine coast rocks day after day, and basically put each and every pair through the wringer. Not only do I hike with these, but I kneel, crawl, gouge them on rocks, walk on slippery sea-weed-covered rocks in the ocean carrying 50lbs of baggage, and sit on the couch with them. They are perfect. My only complaint is that the sole tends to wear out way before the rest of the shoe, probably because of where I am hiking with them. If you hike on well-maintained trails,no problem, but if you scrape them across rocks all day the soles are going to wear out fast. As a plus to the sole, and this might be a weird thing, I find that they don't track a lot of filth into the house. They don't get a lot of things stuck in them, and dog poo is easy to clean off!I have been very impressed with the waterproofing of these babies. Even when the leather is cracked and gauged deeply, my feet are always dry, except when it's hot, then they're just sweaty. Honestly, I take very poor care of my boots, but these don't seem to mind. They just keep on plugging away.

I owned a pair of these boots once before and found them to be the best hiking boots I've ever worn, so after trying another less expensive option, I came back to the Timberland Cochura's and am so glad I did. I actually do hike 4-6 day/s week on step, rocky county - full of prickly pear cactus, loose rock (scree) and large areas of rocky shelf- and I go out in all weather (including snow storms), so I put many hard miles on hiking boots. I find these to fit perfectly, with just the right contours to keep my heel in the boot and not rub; the arch support is perfect for me, and the insole provides great shock absorption while also being a firm foundation. So far mine are waterproof, but full disclosure: whenever ANY leather boot product is listed as waterproof, I read "water resistant" and give the boots a couple coats of silicone water proofer. The quality, craftsmanship and durability with these is excellent, and they arrive perfectly laced and ready to go on my feet and out the door. I wore the first pair I had for two years before I had to finally replaced them (again, 2 hard years). think these are a great value for the money, and I'm not sure a much more expensive boot would be an improvement.

Although I have to admit that I haven't done a full day hike in these boots yet I have done several longer, up to a couple of hour walks and also use them for my daily walk as well which is usually between 40 minutes to an hour. Most times I don't even take them off when I get home as they are so comfortable. They are surprisingly light for a boot that uses a fair bit of leather. I did buy a half sized bigger than I normally would based on some other user reviews that said they were a touch on the smaller side and the fact that even though US and AUS sizes are meant to be the same I do find the US sizing a touch smaller and I also wanted to be able to wear them with thicker socks.I love the way the leather has a cool slightly vintage look after a few wears. Haven't tried them in full on wet weather yet but they handled a light shower just fine and kept my feet toasty warm and dry. Shipping to Australia was amazingly fast and I thought quite reasonable considering they are not a small item.

This is my first real pair of hiking boots and so far I love them! I have a wide foot with a very high instep and it's difficult to find comfortable, well fitting enclosed shoes. With my family planning a couple of wilderness adventures, I felt the need for a good pair of hiking boots. Given the looks and reviews of this Timberland boot, thought to give them a try in 7 1/2 W (my regular size is 7W). Boots were delivered timely and they looked so nice out of the box that my daughter wanted them. When I first put the boots on, they felt a little snug at the widest part of my foot (the edges above the balls of my feet). At first, I was pondering a return but decided to give them a try and wore them for a full day, which included lots of walking the dog. By the end of the day, I forgot I had them on! They're very comfortable and support my feet very well. I'm hoping they'll be just as comfortable with our trips next month to Zion and Bryce National Parks in Utah.

I bought this boot for my wife who works in the deli of a grocery store to replace her worn out Timberland Pro Titan series steel toe work boots. The trail boot is very comfortable right out of the box and weighs a lot less than the Titan work boot, however we found out that the trail boot does not have the same kind of anti-skid soles as the Titan work boot. The trail boot is too slippery to wear working in the deli, so I purchased another pair of Timberland Pro Titan's at a work boot store. The Trail boot is better suited and great for normal wear in cold, wet or snowy weather outdoors. The Timberland Pro Titan is also a very comfortable work boot but is better suited for working long hours on your feet in wet or cold conditions or on slippery floors.I should add that I have been wearing this same boot in men's for 4 or 5 years. With minimal care you can get many years of wear out of these boots. They are a very good buy.

I don't hike in the winter, so I can't say about "all day wear." I got these for walking around on steep, rough back roads and also city winter slush and snow. I am extremely pleased with the fit, especially compared to the pair of Keen's I bought that I finally threw out because after a few hours walking, or just going down a steep hill, they pinched across the outside of my foot at the widest part on the top of my foot, and down steep hills, I felt pressure on the front of my big toe after a while. These Timberlands do not pinch or rub or press at all anywhere. They hold my foot in place without being tight. Love that! I don't really have wide feet, but just wide enough that if a shoe or boot doesn't fit just right,it is uncomfortable. Also I have a narrow heel, so that combination is a problem. I sometimes take an 8 1/2, sometimes a 9. I ordered 9 and it fits perfectly.

I have to say first, that these boots are quite nice and light, and extremely comfortable. However, I did buy a size larger than usual (I normally take an 8, but bought a 9, as someone in their review did say the sizes were a bit snug. Sure enough, the size 9 fits my size 8 feet perfectly! Considering these are not a cheap item, Timberland could be a bit more generous with the coverage around the top of the ankle: with thick socks on, I actually have a small gap either side of the tongue, where it doesn't meet up with the leather of the boot. I probably have sturdy ankles, but I have not ever had this happen with any other boots. BUT the good news is that, even taking this into account,I would probably buy them again, as they are so comfortable. I just have to be prepared to get maybe a little wetter around the ankle than I might have, with no gaps!!

These boots are super! I have week ankles and they support without pinching or making my ankles ache. The first pair I've had for about 8 years. The metal broke on the first shoestring holder and one pull strap is torn, but I still wear them for yard work. Other than that the soles and stitching are fine. I will wear them until they fall apart. The new boot was comfortable the 1st day I put them on. They have good arch support which is important as I have a constant battle keeping plantar fasciitis at bay. They are roomy enough for thick socks in the winter but will tighten up around lighter socks for summer hikes. I have several pair of more expensive hiking boots in my closet pretty much collecting dust. They don't compare in comfort and performance to these Timberlands. They are my "go to" hiker. I hope Timberland never quits making them.

I am a Boy Scout leader and needed hiking boots for camp to keep my feet dry. Although I haven't worn them to camp yet, I have worn them. They are very comfortable. I will probably use an insole with an arch though, but I do this with all my shoes. I went on an all day shopping trip and have not complaints about their comfort. However, I typically do not wear boots and had on short socks. I got a rather nasty irritation around both of my ankles that lasted quite some time. Not really a fault of this boot..user error. Just a heads up. As far as how waterproof they are, I choose these because they are Gore Tex. Typically you can trust the waterproofness of Gore Tex. I had a really bad water leak. The pipe burst due to freezing and it was like a geyser. Water was coming down on me and I was standing in a large puddle. My feet were still dry.

I usually wear 8.5 and ordered 8.5 in these. The good thing is that they are just a bit bigger, or more precisely -more spacious, so they are great with thin socks and thick as well. The test for them was a 10 day intensive and strenuous hiking trip outwest, including walking for 2 days in Grand Canyon. And they did great! Good support of the feet, comfortable, sturdy. And the color, in my opinion, was ideal, because if you hike in the mountains/sands, you'd better have something like this. I'm glad I didn't buy other brands which had "fancier" colors. The only thing that made them uncomfortable, which I guess all shoes in general have, especially waterproof, is that the feet don't really breathe in them,so try to take them off from time to time to air the feet.Otherwise, a very successful purchase!

This shoe is extremely well made and has a great support. I have arch problems so I had to insert an arch support what could have brought the shoe to be a little tight to me. I will keep it hopping it will loosen up with time. I have a wide feet also. My feet is #7 and I ordered a #7 wide. It is just perfect on the foot besides what I had said previously. The toe area is very supportive and it’s very important to me when hiking, so I don’t think I would have a problem in that area. It felt uncomfortable tying the laces until the top, didn’t provide good movement to the feet, then I tied only the four bottom lace...it would have been good if I had more space on the ankle part to tie everything to the top. That was my star deduction...otherwise very good shoe.

I bought my first pair of Chocoruas on New Years Eve day five years ago and fell in love with them immediately. I needed a pair of boots to wear to First Night in Boston, where it was very cold and very snowy. While still in the mall where the Timberland store was located, I decided I should take them for a test "walk" to make sure they'd be comfortable to wear all night walking around. I was just amazed to find that I didn't even notice that I was wearing "new shoes". I wear these boots every day December - March and they are still in perfect condition. I loved them so much that since I bought mine, I have bought nine more pairs for members of my entire family. They all agree - These are the best boots ever !

I needed a pair of hiking boots for an upcoming trip. I tried a different brand before I landed on these, but even after trying two different sizes and they didn't feel right. So I decided to try these Timberlands and I am so happy I did not settle. They are sturdy, but lightweight. I was surprised how light they were when I picked up the box.If they seem tight at first, they will stretch. My left pinky toe didn't feel like it had enough space, but I took them to work (I am always sitting there) to break them in and as the day progressed I felt them loosening up.If the toe box creases and nudges your big toe, make sure to tightly lace around at the toe area and it SHOULD help.At least it did for me.
