I bought these to replace a pair of Merrell Blaze Low walking shoes that were just plain worn out! I chose the Annex Trak Low as a replacement as it's a slightly lighter weight shoe than the Blaze, and I didn't need the added weight of the waterproof feature since I proof my shoes with a water repellent spray, this works fine in all but the wettest conditions. I walk 2 km to and from work each day and wanted a shoe that was also comfortable enough to wear all day at work. The first thing I do with a walking shoe is to replace the fitted insole with a good quality sports insole, and I simply reused the Superfeet Green insoles from my old pair of Blazes. The Superfeet Green is the best sports insole I've found, and although they're pricey (around £30), they are super comfortable and they last forever! I also replaced the standard flat laces with a better quality round sports lace.Fitting wise, I take a UK 10 / EU 44 and wear my shoes with a normal cotton sock. Even with the slightly thicker Green insoles, the size 10 which I ordered was an excellent fit. My feet are quite broad and the width fitting was also good. If you plan to wear a thicker walking sock then I would recommend going for a half size bigger. Note that after a few km of walking, the shoes do tend to "give" a little if at first they feel slightly tight.I own several pairs of Merrell sports and lightweight walking shoes and the Annex Trak Low hasn't disappointed me.

I wanted to wait to give my impressions of this shoe until after doing a bit of day hiking. I got these to replace an earlier, different model low-top Merrell hiking shoe. I was quite satisfied with those, so I decided to stick with the brand but try a different model. Overall, I find the Annex Trak to be a good buy, living up to my expectations from the earlier Merrell shoe. The test came in the form of a camping trip involving much walking on rough, rocky trails and slick coastal crags. The tread gripped well in all circumstances and the sole was well cushioned. The shoes didn't slip at all but were snug around the mid-foot and I felt no hot spots or irregular points against my foot.My one single complaint, and it's minor, is that the heel lifts slightly out of the heel cup when walking. There is no heel-lock lacing hole on this model. I imagine this is a common phenomenon with low hikers and if it's a key concern for you or if you have weak ankles, get the high-top version. For a good, solid, comfortable rough-terrain walking shoe, I would easily recommend this one.

I've bought Merrel walking shoes/boots several times before and never had an issue. These particular ones are very comfortable, I like them a lot. Unfortunately after only a month of regular wear they have split along the side. Very disappointing.I'm revising this review with this addition; despite the product being faulty I have received some simply superb customer service in responce to my complaint which has entirely resolved my issue. Due to this I would now not hesitate to do business with this seller again. I may even reorder the shoes as I was assured it was a one off manufacturing defect. They really are very comfortable shoes.Truely exemplary service!

Typical Merrell sizing , I'm a size 10 in Clarks but need a 11 in MerrellBought a pair of these ,worn them for 18 months ,walking 2 miles to work and back etc. most days barring depth of winter..Fully agree with the comments about the shoes splitting, mine did at around 9 months- ruins an otherwise excellent product. But here's the thing they are one of the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever bought , my trusty pair is finally wearing through the sole [still waterproof] and not a little tatty but I wont throw them out as they are used like a comfy pair of slippers for day to day wear [garden /corner shop etc.].So yes I'm buying another pair.

This shoe is excellent. I wanted something more robust than a trainer and not large and heavy like a hiking boot. It is an ideal compromise. It can be used for country walks but also would look fine for taking on a city break. The shoes are very comfortable. The instep gives good support and they fit my medium foot well. If you have very narrow feet they may not be suitable. The colour in the photograph is deceptive. The blue, in reality, is a very dark blue - almost a blue/black, which goes well with the back of the rest of the shoe. The price is excellent for a Merrell product. Highly recommended.

These shoes are great. I've owned several pairs of Merrells, Solomons, Aslos etc... Wore them the first time push mowing my lawn, over 95 deg in the Carolina humidity and feet were abnormally dry, no hot spots. Especially considering the whole leather construction. Can't wait to take these out on a long hike... more to follow. Also, usually wear a 12, downed the 1/2 size for Merrell's (typical) has once again hit the nail on the head.Lastly, have gotten quite a few compliments on the appearance (the least of my worries, but always welcome). Great all around shoe.

Excellent boot (though more of a shoe than boot). I’m size 10, with fairly wide fitting foot and these were spot on size wise with good support and excellent grip. They are watertight but not waterproof. Not an issue tbh. I’d also read reviews saying people found their normal shoe size was too tight and a half size up was a better fit. Not disputing their experience but a size 10 fitted my size 10 feet perfectly). The first time I wore them I was on my feet for 12 hours. And these fitted like a glove. No rubbing or “breaking in required”. I may buy a second pair.

I was nearly put off these shoes by the negative reviews but, encouraged by the considerable discount, I thought I should give them a try. My feet are 10.5 but I ordered 11 and they fitted perfectly. First time on, maybe recklessly, I did a seven mile cross country trek and had no discomfort or problems. On the contrary, I greatly enjoyed the feel of the shoes and their instep support. I have now walked about fifty miles in the week since they arrived and am delighted I bought them. Don't be deterred by the negative reviews!

I’ve had these shoes since June and have covered in excess of 20 miles a day every day in them mostly walking pavement but also a few muddy fields and they have been fantastic. They broke in really nicely didn’t cause me to get any blisters kept feet dry and I am only replacing now due to the padding around the heel having holes through to the outer and a small hole around the left little toe area.Build quality is fantastic and would highly recommend.

I ordered my normal shoe size and the length is good. The width feels a little narrow, however my last pair were gloves, your hardly knew you had them on, these feel tight, bulky (but light) and less flexible, but I am sure its just a matter of playing with the laces and getting used to the non-glove style. Been wearing them for a week of causal use now, feeling better. Overall the quality seems good and I am happy with my purchase.

I gave these shoes 5 stars even though they are not ideal for my feet, because my feet are the problem not the shoes. These shoes are fairly comfortable for me apart from the raised insteps which are too high for my flat feet. I can walk to the shops in them OK so they pass the test of getting me to the shops, and back. For most people these shoes will be really comfortable, and 10 years ago they would have been perfect for me too.

There's nothing to dislike about these. They are smart enough to wear out socialising and sturdy enough to wear going tramping over the hills. My original pair came with two sets of laces but sadly this pair just came with one. However it was a few years ago that I bought them and the price hasn't increased over the years.I like the fact that the laces don't come undone as often happens on other shoes.Definitely worth the money.

Very sturdy and tough shoes, I wear them to work daily, they are comfy and seem to let my feet breathe. They don't rub and feel like they will last a long time. I'm very happy with them although they maybe look a tiny bit clumsier than I thought they would, I think if you're buying them as a tough but comfy day to day shoe or as a hiking shoe (as I believe they are intended) you're going to be very happy.

Purchased these prior to heading down to Disney, and was not disappointed with how my feet felt after walking in the heat/rain all over the Orlando parks. First few days of wearing were a bit tough. Took time to break them in and get the laces to where it wouldn't hurt the top of my foot. Once worn for about a week, they were great. Held up to all the steps/concrete/etc of Disney parks and loving them.

They fit pretty cozy! But they have great foot support and almost molds to the bottom of your foot! I wasn’t quite sure hard like that when I first put them on but as I will do more and more walking I find that I like it. A little tight but cozy. Wanna thing to note is that the town has a tendency to fold you just need to untie her and straighten the tongue out and train the Shoe to stay that way
