I've recently bought my second pair of Merrell Intercept trainers. This time I went 1.5 sizes up as their sizing is somewhat er..wrong! I think the conversion from foreign (US?) to UK is wrong. It is an absolutely brilliant shoe though. Real leather with very tough materials inside and on the sole. This is a shoe that keeps the water out, the rubbish out and doesn't stink to high heaven when you sweat in it - which you will won't you, because that is what we humans do!The support under the arch is perfect and the foot deformation on hills, craggs and other uneven surfaces - which is paramount in a decent trainer crossover shoe - is hard to beat.Personally, I would buy these over any other trainer x country shoe.I don't even know they are on.I have an old pair which I wore for 2 years and the only bit that is truly worn is the sole. Even then it is far from burned out! I use them now for DIY building jobs and - weirdly enough - mountain biking. Yes, these are great if you don't want to go down the route of cleats and really expensive MTB kit. They are tough, sure, warm, water resistant (or water proof if you treat them nice) and they still look ok on the dance floor.(Well, maybe not. But buy them - just add 1.0 to 1.5 on to the size depending on what socks you like!!

I've had Merrell's before & was really looking forward to receiving these as I had fond memories of them. They are a well-made shoe with great grip BUT...They are much too small & seems that Merrell have goofed on their sizing expectations. I bought UK 12's, which is a US 13. However, when they arrived while it showed as a UK 12, the US size was just 12.5. US sizes being 1 size bigger for men's shoes, this meant that they are really only a UK 11.5, which is not going to work.So be prepared for this, I'd suggest ordering a full shoe size bigger here, or better yet, actually go into a store that stocks them & try them on in person before purchasing from the stockist with the best price for you. This is sadly one of the burdens of internet purchasing but it can't be helped.Luckily they DO have a size 13, so that's been ordered. Will let you know how that works out too.UPDATE: I sent the 12's back today for a full refund & after ordering the 13's yesterday, they also arrived today on Prime. The 13's are much, much, MUCH better. So bottom line is, if in doubt, then go a half to a full size bigger than usual, depending on what socks you usually wear & the intended purpose. A+

I've had several pairs of Merrells over the last 6 or so years. Half of which have been mistakes as the sizing has been wrong (as others have mentioned, you likely will need a size larger than normal!)I have found the Merrells to be the comfiest shoes I've worn in a long time. However that comfort I find comes at a price. My current shoes, the Intercepts, are less than 9 months old. They have been my daily/general shoes in that time, and have admittedly gone a long way, but the soles are fairly worn, and the rubber molding at the front of the shoes has ever so slightly started to peel away from the fabric. The worn soles are down to the softer, comfier, and more grippy vibram rubber used, but the seams coming unstuck are down to poor materials or design. Past Merrells have broken down at the heel too.My final verdict is that if you can afford them, and are happy to replace your shoes in maybe 1/2 to 3/4 the time you would normally expect to replace your shoes, then go for these. If you'd rather not have to swap your shoes again sooner than normal, maybe look elsewhere!

I'm in my late 60s working mostly abroad. My first pair of Merrells were a Continuum model bought in August last year. It is a low rise hiking/walking shoe. I got it in UK 10.5 at an airport outlet where I could try them on. This confirmed the advice of other Merrell purchasers re UK sizing: buy one size larger, so I went 9.5 + 1.0 = 10.5. That shoe fits well, but is a tad heavy. So I bought the Interceptor in Moth Brown, again 10.5.The length is spot-on, but it feels a bit tighter/more compact across the widest part of the foot. I am hoping the Intercept shoes will stretch a bit more as they are ideal for everyday work, out-and-about and travel.I will be writing reviews on two more Merrell shoes,Kicks, a chukka style shoe/boot. The dark brown pair are by far the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn since a pair of New Balance shoes in 2005. Sop comfortable, I have just bought the second pair in the same style, in 'Falcon', which is a neutral grey/green colour.I now have enough everyday Merrells to last me a long time, maybe even longer than me.

A great shoe, well made, great construction, and feels solid. As you'd expect from a Merrell. As others have stated in reviews, there does seem to be a sizing issue on these ones - with other Merrells I've had before I just order my normal UK 11 and they're perfect - but given the amount of people saying order at least a size larger, I did just that, and I'm glad I did. I went for a UK12, and they fit like any other 11 (for my feet, others may differ).Had I ordered the 11's, I fear they would have been a bit clippy on my feet. So well worth ordering a size up from your normal. This could be an issue in mis-labelled stock, or American sizes that have been shipped claiming to be UK etc.Who knows.....but you don't normally get this kind of thing from Merrell, so it must be an error of some kind. Other ones I've had before have all been fine, and sizing consistent.Overall though, sizing issue aside (which I'd averted thanks to other commenters) they're a fab pair of shoes capable of all weathers thanks to their chunky and grippy soles. Thumbs up.

I've bought these to go treking in the Amazon, after receiving, I'm not sure I want to ruin them.As others have said, they come up small, I'm normally an 8, these are a very snug fit, to the point I've seriously considered sending back for a larger size. but the difference was in mm, not a size or even a half size.I decided to risk it, and I've walked a few miles in them and there is a little stretch, they're now perfect.I really like the design, its much better in hand than in pictures and I'm really impressed with the materials and construction. They feel rugged and solid. And unlike most sneakers and walking shoes, they have excellent arch support. They are quite narrow and especially narrow around the toe,I have a narrow foot so its not too much of an issue for me, but those with wider feet might not get on with them. They are very comfortable on the whole, but could do with more support at the ankles, you can easily twist on rough terrain. All in all a very good product I would recommend.

Really grippy, even on wet and moss-covered rocks. Yet these, 'trainer style' boots, have the sole flexibility that is lacking in most traditional walking boots. The only downside to these, very comfortable boots, is that they are (obviously) waterproof only up to the level of the sides (low rise), which are lower than most boots at about 3" (7.5cm) - A walk across some very boggy ground almost exceeded this on my first trip out when my foot sank into round that was not as solid as it appeared! The internal padding looks very well made and is exceptionally comfortable while still allowing your feet to slide in and out without causing folds or friction. Usually, I would double-sock with walking boots for long walks, but I soon realised that this was not necessary with these.Overall, I am extremely pleased with these boots, with not so much choice in half-sizes, I feared I was overpaying here - but no... These are really good value and I highly recommend them.

First the size. I am a UK 9.5, or Euro 43.5 wide fit. Based on other reviews I bought the UK 10.5, Euro 45, and it was the right choice. They may be a fraction too long, but this enabled the wide part of the shoe to line up with the wide part of my foot. I was keen on the design and thought I'd order these despite not expecting them to be wide enough. But they're okay, and having had them for a year, the leather has spread nicely making them definitely wide enough. These are very comfortable and very tough. I often wear them all day, whether in town or going for a walk. They are fine on rugged terrain and way more than just a trainer. They look the part too. The perforated leather and understated colours go well together, and they age well. They're fine with shorts, jeans, outdoor trousers etc. The only part I don't like is the back, but it's a minor point.

I do quite a lot of walking and for years I've have had some really poor footwear. Not by design, simply by committing to buying without reading reviews. I bought these because a Walker friend couldn't sing their praises enough. They are excellent. One of the best buys I've ever made. They are so cleverly designed; there is no fold/leather/crease that turns into your foot as you walk. They got snuggly and are well cushioned. I've covered miles in them and although my legs have given up... my feet never have.I can not recommend these enough. They look great, fit beautifully, they are heavy duty, keep your feet dry, have great grip, give plenty of support for your heel.I really really like these things - I won't be buying any other walking shoes ever again.Anyway, I'm off for a walk ;-)

Excellent, practical hiking & all purpose quality shoe. This is my fourth pair in over 10 years on near constant wear - walking, hiking, gigging - whatever, the shoe is excellent in all informal occasions and is supremely comfortable. One point to note is that sizing appears to have changed as highlighted in some other reviews. My previous 3 pairs over the last 10 years all fitted perfectly at size 10. However on this purchase in Aug 2020, I found the 10.5 was the perfect fit.No evidence to suggest my feet have increased in size over the last 10 yrs so may be useful to consider.Overall, quality remains excellent as ever and after just returning from a few days hiking in Glencoe, the shoes have performed as comfortably and robust as ever.Totally recommended.Buy with confidence!

First, all previous reviews are right. You have to order half a number at least more than your UK number. The trainers are fantastic. They are warm and comfy and good for waking on mud and puddles, though not 10% waterproof they are alright. They tend to feels loose an the ankle at first but not after a while. Perhaps I got used to it in the end. I love the shoes. One minor issue is that the tone of brown is really brown with no hint of green as I would have expected. The insole avoids pronation of the ankle, which is fantastic for walking, but at the beginning it may feel sore at the bottom of your feet if you walk for hours, but it does not take long to get used to it. As commented before, the sole is slippery when waking for example on wet marble, but it is very good on mud.

I bought these to replace a pair of Merrell Moab shoes that came apart between the toecap and sole after just 18 months of use - Millets were brilliant and refunded the £95 after an inspection process. The Moab's were very uncomfortable out of the box and took some months to wear in but these haven't caused any problems and we're immediately comfortable and a good fit (one size up from my normal size 9). My only concern based on my last experiance of Merrell footwear is how long they will last.....time will tell.April 2018 - my concern about product quality was spot on. After little over a year one of the toe caps split and lets water in.Decided to dump Merrell after two quality failures and have gone for the Salomon brand.

Brought a pair of these for a trip to the pyrenees - expected them to be worn out after that - 5 years later they are still going strong having been worn most weekends and on trips to Snowdonia and the Alps. They are great. Order one size up from your usual size, I'm always a 9, but take a 10 in Merrell. They are narrow, so suit my slim feet better than any other shoe. The vent holes will let water pour in, but then they are designed for dry summer wear, not wet Welsh bogs - put your gore tex boots on for that walk. I shall be getting another pair once I've managed to wear the first pair out, no question about it - best light summer walking shoes I've ever had. Smart and good looking too.

To paraphrase The King "These Merrell, are TCB" (Taking Care of Business)Ordered these shoes after a bit of online research and reading other reviews, and am very impressed with the build quality and comfort / fit. I do a fair bit of walking - dogs / kids, days out etc and these shoes are comfortable and supportive throughout the day, and my feet arent left feeling tired and aching like they are when I wear normal fashion trainers. All in a great product.Originally I ordered size 11, which were a bit tight, so swapped for a 12 which are a better fit. Amazing service from Amazon, ordered at 1800 they arrived by 1100 the next morning via their own couriers - at no additional cost!

I like these but had to send them back. They are great quality, and ooze class. I ordered a ten when I'm usually a nine. Actually 9.5 or 10 these days. My feet must have spread! Anyway the 10s were a good fit, but there was a bit of slipping of the heel. Not enough to come off but more than I'd want. The fit in the rest of the foot was comfortably snug so I couldn't have gone any smaller. The biggest problem for me was the raised cushioned lump in the instep. It felt far to high and was pushing up constantly in a way that did not bode well for outdoors. If it bugged me in my living room it was likely to become more of a pain outdoors. So reluctantly they had to go back
