This is my third purchase of a pair of Adidas Terrex Swift Gore Tex shoes. First pair is around five years old and still going strong although very worn. I also have a pair of Terrix boots. This pair was purchased to replace the five year old shoes.I'm not a fan of Adidas shoes as I don't think they're consistent with the width of their trainers range so I usually go for Nike or Asics in trainers however, 30 years ago I purchased a pair of Adidas Gore Tex walking boots and I fell in love with them. They were perfect for hill walking so much so that I even blacked them up with boot polish and wore them on military field exercises whilst serving in the Army. Those boots finally gave up after 20 years of use!Yes, 20 years! So I gave Adidas another go with walking boots when I spotted the Terrex range fve years ago and again never looked back. These boots are comfortable. I usually take a size 9 and a half but go up one size for walking boots so I can comfortably wear thicker socks. These boots also have a new type of sole, a Continental rubber outsole and having walked around the garden today wearing them, this sole is very very comfortable walking on! And of course the shoe incorporates Gore Tex into the shoe lining, so keeps my toes dry and keeps the rain out. They also have the Adidas speed laces which are a great innovation and perfect for 'tying my laces' within seconds.Of course with any walking shoe/boot you need to walk them in first so don't purchase on a Friday and wear them on a Saturday to walk up Ben Nevis. That would be just silly and the blisters you'd get would be horrific!Very worthy purchase and well worth the money.

This is the third pair that I have bought. The first pair were for my son and since we share the same shoe size, I ended up using them a lot. I liked them so much, I decided to buy my own pair in 2020. The shoes were not as well made as the pair that I had bought my son, especially around the heel of the shoe, that on the original pair, was much stronger and substantial. I used them once and then did not use them for a while. I then used them three walks in fairly quick succession and by walk two I was hobbling and experienced the same problem on walk three. I then realised that not only was the heel poorly made, the stitching on the inside of the shoe was giving me a blister. I could feel a lump.I could try and cut it out but feared I could damage the structure the inner part of the shoe. But this is where Amazon is great. Even though I had purchased them a few months ago, I could still return them as a damaged item. I returned them and bought a third pair. The rear of the shoe is still not as substantial as the original pair that I bought for my son. Because of this, you always have to use a shoehorn or your finger to put them on. If you don't you would end up pushing the rear of the shoe down. But this pair is much better and I now realise that there was something fundamentally wrong with the manufacture of the last pair. Not just the stitching. The overall comfort. This pair is much better but my son's original ones without the Continental grip are a much better shoe. I tried to buy the original model but you cannot get it for love nor money.

I'll keep this simple. I've always gone for the Salomon brand in the past, however the price and reviews attracted me to try these, and one other reason I'll come around to.First of all I'm not so sure I'd call them "cross trainers", they're more like walking shoes than cross trainers in my opinion. They're quite comfortable, fit well (I went actual size and they were exactly right) and needed no breaking in. Getting a shoe that ticks these boxes from the start is very positive. The best thing about these are the grip, absolutely brilliant, and this is my one and only reason for changing from the Salomon brand. The Salomon shoe grip is, to put it bluntly, terrible.I've tried various types of their shoes and unfortunately they use the same type and therefore suffer from poor grip. However, where the Salomon excel is their comfort. The perfect shoe for me would be the Salomon shoe with the Adidas grip. That said I am very happy with these and will likely keep with this brand until Salomon decide to change the grip for something as good as these. One last thing, the lace system is great. It's a similar system to the Salomon one but needs a little manual effort (cutting the lace and typing knots) and adjustment to make them perfect.

I walk between 3 to 5 miles every day walking the dogs in field environments. I have been disappointed by every good quality trainer and walking shoe make (£100 ish) over the last 40 years, soles come unstuck, uppers leak, soles wear out, stitching breaks. Most achieve about 500 miles which is about 4 months with out fault. Usually the gortex fails first in all, the worst is merrils on all counts, (unfortunate as for comfort they are the best), they usually leak from day one and eventually fall to bits, soles separating soles and stitching splitting. Solomon's retain their waterproof nature but always split on point the sole bends. Tried very expensive Scarpa walking shoes as the boots are excellent, the soles wear out quickly and leak near both small toes.....many similar stories with other makes. My first time for Adidas, before purchasing these, (which incidentally were the cheapest I have purchased for many years) I went through many, many customer reviews, hopefully these will last a little longer. So far I am very impressed they are comfortable, soles are very grippy and most importantly 100% waterproof...long may this continue!!! Watch this space :)

April 19 ... So far wear looks good waterproof breathable a good size look coolish. Using them all the time. March 20 update .... Follow up worn these walking dog for 11 months most days rain or shine, they are super comfortable and supportive and look good enough. They breathe and are waterproof. I walk a lot and after 11 months they are looking worse for wear and are starting to leak; the sole near the big toe is starting to come apart, plastic suede is cracking a little, one of the pull laces broke, insides have not fallen apart, the soles look fairly worn but still overall one of the best pairs of shoes I have owned so have bought another pair exactly the same.AHHHH SECOND PAIR ARE SMALLER THAN THE FIRST JUST ENOUGH TO MAKE ME THINK THEY WOULD STRETCH IN, BUT THEY ARE 1/3 SIZE SMALLER THAN THE LAST PAIR AND UNCOMFORTABLE. Adidas HOW COMPLEX IS IT TO MAKE SURE YOUR MANUFACTURERS PRODUCE SHOES WITH CONSISTENT SIZES !! WASTED £80.

Best shoe I have ever owned. I wear them every day for everything, office work to day hikes. Extremely light and comfortable and I don't find the goretex hot, as I feared I might. I was skeptical at first with them being somewhat stiff/molded but have come to love the fit. That shape allows me to slip in and out without even needing to stoop over, with almost no slippage. I was also skeptical of the speedlace cord system which I had not previously used, but have loved it. Very well built- Fantastic traction, goretex performs perfectly in wet conditions, and they still look practically new with no effort after a year of use. My daughters gave me kudos for a sharp looking purchase (probably the first time ever- black on black is apparently in).A bit pricey, but worth it to me- Not since buying my first pair of Pumas in grade 5 after saving allowance money for months have I appreciated a pair of shoes as much.

Great shoes and a really good price. Have been looking for some trainers/walking shoes for a while and boringly enough I already have the walking boots version of this, so wasn't keen at first to have both the same. However, the boots are the best I have had - very well made and amazingly lightweight. These shoes are, not surprisingly, the same. However, their greatest advantage over competing products is the sole. It's one of the very few deep-lugged walking soles designed to grip on mud that will also grip on wet surfaces, whether rain, ice or snow. Salomon's Contragip is notoriously poor, you'll struggle on wet tarmac, while even Vibram isn't great. But these really do stick like that famous grab adhesive; I've walked across submerged rocks in an icy fast flowing river. Waterproofing is fine too, though of course Gore Tex linings won't last forever in footwear.

EDIT: Have boots and wellies for a lot of conditions, these are for when the going is good or just more urban dog walking. Loads of good grip, surprisingly pleased with the lacing (how long will it last, though?). For the price I paid they are excellent and durable. But it's early days, only worn them for one relatively testing walk, which they stood up well to. Overall, 5 star quality.New review: This is the second pair of these I've bought since November, so on the face of it not so heavy duty. But I've walked miles with my dog and these are comfortable and have loads of grip and dry out well when they do get waterlogged. I do like the lacing, though it's not perfect, and I do think the sole should have a touch more wear in it, but I have hammered my first pair and I can find another use for them now the grip has gone a bit. All in all, superb shoes/ trainers

These cross trainers seem well made out of the box. On first wear they do feel a little stiff & rigid. I bought them for a walking/city break initially but did not wear them much as they did not 'wear in' quickly. However, after 2 months of ownership and daily dog walks across fields/woods/paths etc they are wearing in well and get more comfortable by the day. Approximately 20-30 miles of walking before they started to wear in properly. Now I love them, the soles are VERY GRIPPY and much better than the Salomons they replaced, leaving me confident of the grip whatever the terrain. Only criticism is the lacing method/grip can be a little stiff at times and difficult to release.Overall a great pair of cross trainers, personally I rate them better than my Salomons (in grip & fit for me) and would buy them again.

After a month of almost daily use walking my dog in parks, roads and forests I am very happy with the product. they are very sturdy and i feel very confident wearing them regardless of the terrain. i have tried them on some really steep slopes in the forests near me and they stood up to the test every time.- They were stiff when i first bough them, after a couple of weeks they opening up.- Have had no issues with the quick release laces yet but it wear them quite loose so i can slip them on easily - this does mean you do get stones in the shoe though when on gravel routes.- They look a lot nicer then most outdoors trainers on the market, even my wife likes them :)- 100% waterproof- Doesn't give you any ankle supportArrived sooner then expected - I was very happy bunny.Worth the money? Yes, 100%!

I bought these as they were on offer after buying the grey version a few days earlier. I was going to keep both as they do everything I want from a walking shoe. However the grey version are just slightly smaller than the black version so don't fit properly and I could have done with a half size bigger. The black shoes fit perfectly. They are stiff when they arrive so I'm going to have to break them in but they do already feel comfy. They are waterproof, and have a fantastic sole, too many trainers now have a plastic sole which make you slip in wry weather. These have a sole like tyres.Hopefully they will be hard-wearing and last me more than 6 months of walking 6 miles daily. Will update in a couple of months as to my progress.I have bought a second pair in black for when these eventually go.

This is my second pair of this shoe after the first pair lasted three years. After wearing a range of outdoor shoes and boots for most of my life from merrel, Lowa and Salomon, I was nervous. But I had three criteria at the time and these were the only shoes that fit the bill, all black, waterproof and under £100. They have been brilliant. Comfortable and hard wearing. I used to go through a pair of merrel chameleons in 6 months. I have found I have grown very attached to the speed laces. I spent a few hours shopping to replace them before realising that they were still exactly what I wanted. Only thing close was a pair of Keen that no one stocked near me and I didn’t want the hassle of gettingthe wrong size as I find I can vary a lot between brands.

When it comes to shoes I'm ALWAYS a 9 in adidas, but normally an 8 in everything else. After ordering two pairs of Salomons that both ended up being too narrow, I thought I'd have a go with something I figured would fit. These arrived, and they're the first pair of adidas that have ever been too big for me. But as they were only just too big, and I was wearing them with hiking socks, I figured they'd be OK.And they were. Mostly. Going uphill and downhill were both fine. It was just traversing sideways across hills that was slightly problematic as the shoes had a tendency to rotate on my feet.Other than that. Very comfortable for the first time I wore them on a 7 hour hike.

I work in a hospital as a desktop engineer, we walk 7+ miles a day up and down stairs and crossing from building to building. These are amazing, very comfortable and as we bend down and go into crawl spaces they've not once cracked or shown wear and tear. If go as far as to say they are the best trainers I've had and the only footwear I've found to survive this job, they look as new as the day I got them.I will be buying these again in the future and I'm tempted to get a pair incase they no longer exist because honestly I've never found work shoes as good as these and if they are good here with polished, wet and gravel flooring they'd definitely do well in the great outdoors.

I still haven't used the product properly but it looks and feels great so far. My review is about sizing as many others advice to go up in size and so did I initially, going up 0.5 above my usual one. This is incorrect, at least in my case, as once you place your feet inside you will feel it too big.The reason why so many advise to go up is the shoe is very tight initially so it is a challenge to get your feet inside at all. It is probably the materials used, however once you manage to do it, it is very comfortable and true to size. I am yet to see how these perform in real-life conditions but they fit and look great so I hope they will as expected.
