I needed a pair of comfortable, water proof shoes for dog walking. I've had Merrell before but either they have changed their sizing or my feet have expanded as I ended up needing a half size up from normal for these shoes.The shoes themselves are great. I have a broad foot and these fit well. The shoes are well made and comfortable on first wear and, importantly, so far waterproof - they have been well tested across fields of long, wet grass and muddy trails and my feet have stayed dry. I don't think they would necessarily stay dry if I stood in water, but I don't plan to test that.My only issue with them, which I think was mentioned by another reviewer, and is the reason for four stars,

I found these a bit chunky for a mesh/gortex shoe. Whilst I appreciate these are an athletic shoe Merrell manage to make other waterproof shoes which have a smaller profile but are equally functional and robust. Unfortunately, the more feminine designs are destined to be too tight in the toe box for me, at least they fit and are comfortable with plenty of internal padding. You won't find any of the usual fashion flourishes in this design, it's pretty much identical to the men's version. The only gripe is the big roomy toe box and extra width comes with a bigger than normal Merrell heel cup but it's not as big as the same size in TNF.

These walking shoes are so comfortable and they are waterproof. I am normally a size 6.5 wide (at M&S for example), but ordered size 7 in these and they are a really good fit when worn with Bridgedale Coolfusion walking socks. I had terrible trouble finding walking shoes which were wide fitting and finally came across these. Was able to wear them comfortably from day one - bliss! Really pleased and would buy them again.

These are my shoes of choice - the fit is brilliant and they are extremely comfortable. I don't drive so I walk when I'm not on buses so good footwear is important in my life - comfort in all weathers is what I need. With Merrell's I just have to try and find a pair each time that is as close to plain black as possible - these were the best so far...

I wore these shoes on holiday with a lot of walking and they were incredibly comfortable. The thickness of the sole meant my feet were cushioned from impact. They are waterproof and great for most terrains. I would certainly recommend and would look to purchase again however, the price has increased significantly since my purchase.

These are the best walking shoes I’ve ever had. Comfortable from day one (I walk around 7 miles a day). Great support and I feel as if the shoes are helping me to walk. The price is very reasonable for the quality. I replace my walking shoes regularly and I will definitely buy Merrell’s again.

Wearing them for a week now. Have bought them before and they feel the same. They are comfortable. Don't know about waterproofness of this pair as I haven't been walking in wet conditions. Negative: the laces are too short to tie properly, the old ones had laces that were longer.

I can only wear Merrell boots because of Arthritis so I have three pairs on the go at any one time. The fit differs slightly depending on the style and shape. They are a little on the big size, but with thicker socks in the the winter, they're great. Completely water proof.

This is my 4th pair of Merrells. They are so comfortable and although I have only had them 6 days they fit well supporting my feet and ankles. I have had my left ankle fused and suffer with osteoarthritis in my right ankle Merrell shoes are perfect for me.

Comfortable, supportive, robust. I wore them on two hikes 15 km each / 9 miles and my feet were warm and dry. Going through mad was easier in them as they have enough wide sole and very well ribbed. I would recommend them.

Very high quality shoes!! Vibram sole, goretex covering, perfect on wet and muddy floors, very durable, really rain-cold & wet resistant, excellent finishes and seals!! I bought it at 59 £...great deal!

Good quality but the insole just under the heel seems to be quite hard. It's never happened to me before with Merrell. I decided to use some gel insoles and they seemed to have solved the problem.

Good support for the instep, excellent grip. Usually go for a full boot, but these are comfortable, robust and light so I may be converted into using these and gaiters for the future.

These shoes fit me very well, the quality is great, they are light and comfortable and I'm sure they will last a long time, so I would recommend them even though they are not cheap.

Wear these for about 8 hours every day, love them. The waterproofing eventually went on my first pair after about 6 months of non stop wear. Just bought my 2nd and 3rd pairs
