[Update: Dec 2018. Were managing to get at least one walk in a week since buying these averaging 6-9 miles now. Both of us find the boots supremely comfortable. My wife had some minor pressure under one toe on an 11 mile walk, but nothing major. We've not been out in downpours but wet grass and the odd stream splash has not been an issue. I would add to my review below that the soles are good and grippy, but not as stiff as a heavier boot, so you will feel a rocky surface through them slightly. Not a problem, just trying to give a better impression of what these are. We have not done any walking with more than a day sack so far and no scrambles yet either.]Bought for my wife after I bought a men's pair. Both of us found the boots comfortable out of the box. My wife has quite a wide forefoot and a bunion on one foot, but no problems so far. I bought mine after having to give up walking for a while because I developed an issue with my heel rubbing in my (well-known major brand name) leather boots meaning I had to pre-pad or put Compeed on after about a mile on the trail. I spent ages travelling to specialists (Alt-Berg/George Fisher) trying to get a solution. Different lacing, socks, insoles did not help. I tried all the boots I could in store but no one could tell me whether or not I'd be OK with them.Rather than wasting a pot of cash on boots like that, I went for these as they were a little bit less of a financial disaster if they were no good. Glad I did as I've had no problem with the heel in these. We've just got back from a few days in the Lakes where we used them everyday for moderate walks over mixed ground including some rocky sections. Did a great job. I developed a slight pressure on one little toe towards the end of an 8 mile walk on which I'd done some sections as fast as I could over all terrains. I'd say that's not bad at all.My wife mentioned some damp feeling on one boot after crossing a shallow stream, but we're not sure yet if there was any leak of if this was just the damp cold feeling you can get with most Goretex when the outer gets wetted out. Being a fabric/mesh I suppose this is more likely to happen quicker than a well-treated leather. There doesn't seem to be any kind of DWR on the outer on these. But there's always the Gore-tex guarantee to lean on if needed. We both found the soles made crossing rocky sections quite comfortable, easy and fast. So far so good - will update if any issues (I do actually update my reviews if things change ratehr than just say it :-) ).

These are great! I took on board the previous reviews and ordered a half size up. I'm glad I did; it leaves me with about a centimetre from my big toe to the end of the boot. I also need to wear wider fitting footwear (bunion unfortunately) and these are perfect. These boots have been amazingly comfortable from the minute I put them on. I've been able to wear them out on several muddy dog walks with having to 'wear them in' first. They were a little tight around the back of the ankle to start with (I seem to get this with all boots that come up and over my ankle), but that only lasted a few minutes. The tread is great; I feel safe in them (very wet and muddy ground is quite slippery!).I just rinse the bottom of them with the hose when I get home as its much easier than letting the mud dry and then getting to clean it off. Occasionally when doing this I can feel cold where the water splashes on the top of the boot, but so far my feet haven't gotten wet.All in all, I'm so pleased. They are bloody brilliant, really comfy and do exactly what I wanted them to do.

I’ve never paid so much for walking boots, but me and my pooch do lots of walking in all weathers, and I find I’m buying lots of walking shoes! I went for a gait analysis for running and found out I over probate, so put a bit more research into my walking shoes. I bought a size up after reading that walking boots should be bigger. They’re very comfortable. Straight out the box I did 6km in them with boot socks and they didn’t rub at all. They’re firm in the heel but because of the pronation I need that. On doing research I found out that these and Siren in the same brand are for over pronating. They have more support. I normally hate walking boots and get shoes, but I’ve recently been walking on more uneven surfaces. These are very comfortable around the ankle area. They have a lot of padding. I walked over severe uneven ground and I didn’t feel any rocks under the sole. In a different brand in my old shoes it was very uncomfortable. Hoping me and these boots get lots of miles in....

Previously I have only bought a cheap pairs of walking boots from sports direct. Which I regretted instantly. Every time I wore them I had blisters. I had sore feet.So after much reading of reviews I decided to buy these. Although I am an average every day person and actually would never dream of paying almost 90 quid on some shoes for myself. I decided to bite the bullet. I walk 4-5 miles daily with my dogs and wanted something to keep my feet dry and comfortable. After reading all the reviews I got half a size above my usual size 5. Also purchased some waterproof spray.I used these the very next day they arrived and have been amazed. They are very comfortable and my feet are wider than normal.I used the waterproof spray so dont actually know if they are waterproof but my feet have been bone dry. I've not had a single solitary blister and have worn these almost daily since I got them. I actually doubt i will buy another make now. So its 5***** from me

I could write all day about these boots but sometimes it is better to keep it short. I have been badgering my better half to get up in hills and outside with me for years and she has been bemoaning how she would if she had a decent pair of boots. I had had a pair of Merrells since uni a couple of decades ago and though they were still going strong they had lost their comfort and my feet had over time changed shape so I was also in the market for a replacement. It was in that vein that I undertook my usual days of research and bought what I thought would be the best pair of Merrell ladies walking boots available outside of specialist snow, ice & crampon range ie professional or winter boots. These boots appeared to tick all the boxes but after day 1 of her wearing them on a short 10km trial my good lady wife simply said, “ These are the best pair of boots I have ever put on my feet. I love them. I will never buy anything else ever again!”

I've got the low-rise version of the Moab 2 and found them blissfully comfortable straight out the box for long walks and 10 mile hikes in the Lake District during the spring and summer.I wanted a higher boot for the winter so automatically turned to these. My low-rise ones are true to size (4) and fit perfectly with an ordinary cotton sock and a trainer cut wool walking sock, but due to reviews saying to go half a size bigger, I tried a 4 and 4.5. The 4 just felt slightly too small all over, the 4.5 was perfect. Odd as the insole is exactly the same as the low-rise one. I've got quite wide feet and need decent width in the toe box.First time out in them did a 5K walk and they're amazingly comfortable and cushioned.Plenty of space for my toes to move around, nice and secure and no rubbing anywhere. I'm confident I could walk for hours in them.

These had their first outing yesterday on quick 5 mile forest hike. They were super comfy right from the off with plenty of room in the toe box and a sung fit around the ankles and heel. I did apply nikwax before I used them to offer extra protection knowing that the tracks would be very muddy after days of rain. They were perfect, my feet stayed dry and cosy throughout, this is my second pair of Merrell hiking boots, I use my others for summer walking and they are both superb. The vibram sole meant that I had excellent grip on slippy and uneven terrain and whilst I was not walking through rivers I did ford some streams and they performed beautifully.I have very narrow ankles and heels and the padding in these sections meant that there was no rubbing. Amazing boots!!!

After buying three pairs of the wrong style of hiking shoes, we finally asked my daughter's scoutmasters what they wear. Both male and female leaders wear Merrell. So we purchased multiple Merrell styles (two years ago) and daughter selected this model as best everything. She has completed three (3) full adventure weeks, plus two-years of hiking, canoeing, white water rafting, caving, etc. One shoe was damaged by a rock cutting the edge of the sole just recently. So her second pair of these shoes have just arrived for summer 2019 and heading off to college in the fall! Shoes are treated but we carefully re-applied water repellant sprays about every 3-4 months to keep the shoes scout ready. This is a quality shoe worth the price.

This is the 2nd pair of Merrell MOAB's I've had and I can highly recommend them. When my first pair wore out I was bought a pair of Salomon's as a present and whilst they have been good boots, I needed to replace them as they'd worn out (over 2 years though:). I had no hesitation in replacing them for Merrell's again. As soon as I put these MOAB's on I was happy - much lighter than the Salomon's and far easier to walk further and longer in. My boots are used everyday for walking dogs and hiking at weekends so they get a lot of wear and tear but I won't move past Merrell's again. Great, comfy, sturdy boot that's happy on the beach, on tarmac or clambering up hills.MOAB really does stand for Mother Of All Boots!

I absolutely love these shoes. I bought the low-rise shoes for dog walking in March and was so impressed with the comfort and fit of them that I bought these high-rise shoes for longer grass and hiking. The shoes are extremely comfortable and really well built. I can commonly get foot pain in the ridge of my foot, but the support in these soles is really good and I don't get this wearing these shoes. I saw people had said to get a half a size big, however, i found the low-rise shoes i previously bought to run half a size big so bought 5.5 when i am usually a 6. The 5.5 in both the low and high rise fits perfectly. Even with my walking socks. Definitely recommend getting these boots. You won't be disappointed!

I put these on, and started walking. Not one blister, sore bit, aching anything. I bought half a size up from my shoe size to allow my toes plenty of room and that was a good move. Uphill, downhill, through cold, wet, mud, rain, these boots are fantastic in my opinion. They are also supportive, and not too heavy at all. I have a pair of leather walking boots that can make my legs ache, but I feel like a spring lamb in these Merrell Moabs. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about them at all - I would highly recommend them.Oh, where have I walked? Up hill and down dale, on tracks, off tracks, in heather, grass, stone and rocks, woodland, bog, farmland, chalk downs. Marvellous, marvellous boots.

I tried on every shoe that REI had on the shelf. I have a wide foot with a shallow arch and these fit like a dream. I have previously had the size 5 non goretex brand of these shoes. I lost them and thank goodness that I did because even though I had them sized, they were too small in the toe. They fit the width of my foot better than any other shoe which is why I ordered them again. I have heard rumours and seen for myself that these shoes do not hold up to everyday field work. I hope the goretex will be a longer lasting and better waterproofing than the previous non goretex ones that I had. I ordered a 6 this time and they fit perfectly with regular socks and wool socks.

I am a Bunion sufferer who does a lot of Walking, bought endless walking Shoes, which all hurt my Feet.I googled walking Boots for ladies with Bunions and decided to try these.Best thing I have ever bought,I went one half size bigger so I could wear thick socks,I’m a 6 so went for 6 half. They are so Comfortable and Snug, plenty of room to accommodate my Horrid Bunions. What I was concerned that I have a very skinny foot so thought they would be a bad fit around my ankle, but they are so snug as you can tighten them as much as you want.Sorry I’ve gone around Jerrico to explain but I absolutely Love them and walk every day about 10 KLM’s also they are Waterproof.

I am a delivery driver in Ohio. I ordered these boots and put in over 13,000 steps the first day wearing them. I couldn't be happier! They are everything I could possibly want in a boot and my feet feel great! I have a little wider foot and they are plenty roomy. I have flat arches and these provide great arch support. I've sprained my ankle twice in the past 6 months and the boots feel super supportive in the ankle area. They keep my feet warm enough without sweating because they allow airflow. And they are completely waterproof and snow proof. I seriously can't think of anything I would change that would improve these boots. They are fantastic!

I have spent years looking for some nice walking boots that fit well and are not too expensive. I did not want to spend over £100 for a pair of boots. I have worn these boots twice now, hiking up hills and across fields in the rain.I just want to say, "They do not leak!" They are GTX, water runs off them. I read the other reviews and quite a few people said that they ended up with wet socks at the end of a walk. I made sure that I tied the laces up tightly and pulled the ankles of my trousers down over the boots. They are comfortable and did not rub my heals. Highly recommend Merrell Women's Moab boots, good value for money as well.
