For years I have had Salomon walking boots. They were never brilliantly comfortable but as a touch of arthritis has developed in one big toe joint they have gradually become totally unwearable. What to replace them? I have 2 pairs of walking shoes, both Merrell and both GTX: a pair of Chameleon Arc, and a pair of Siren Sport. My husband and son both have had more than one pair of Moabs and have been very satisfied. So that was the choice. Good price on Amazon, too. They took about 5 days to arrive. From the moment I took them out of the box and put them on they were absolutely PERFECT! As comfortable as a pair of slippers and an exact fit.I have to say that I am a size 5.But all my Merrells are 6s and that for me is exactly right. The Moabs are roomy enough for an extra pair of socks or a gel insole if I want, but are fine without. The Siren Sport and Arcs will only take one pair of sports socks and no more. The Moabs are well made and robust but I have yet to test them in really grotty conditions. If they wear out I will not hesitate to buy another pair. And with free returns neither would I hesitate to buy them on-line.If I find a fault I will write another review.

This is a 4x4 walking boot! Have gone through several pairs now and have always been really pleased, but have found them VERY generous to wear with normal socks, so this time in stead of ordering size 4, I ordered size 3, so could wear with thinner every day socks. I usually buy size 4 in all Merrell walking shoes and boots, but these are better in size 3, than size 4, as they tend to come up bigger than other Merrell shoes. However, if always wearing with thick walking socks, I would probably have bought a size 4. Hope this makes sense! They really are excellent low ankle walking boots, which seem to breathe well, keep feet dry through wet ground and have excellent grip on all surfaces. They are wide fitting I find too, not narrow. They look good too and if they get muddy, they cope well with a hose wash off and still remain dry on the inside.

These boots are everything that all the reviews say they are! They are super comfortable - just like putting on a nice cushy sneaker - yet, they have all that wonderful ankle support and fabulous traction with the vibram sole. I just love the feeling and haven't really had to break them in at all. The only thing that I seem to need is to get my ankles used to the additional support. It's a funny feeling at first, but I'm sure that will go away with use. I highly recommend these mid-boots for any hikers out there. Thank you Merrel!

I have a tough time finding boots/shoes that fit and that are comfortable. The Merrel, Moab Mid Gore-Tex boot is great because it's comfortable, waterproof, plus it looks great too. This boot is not stiff like some. It has a some flexibility when you bend your foot, but has great support. I find that some hiking boots are so stiff that I can hardly walk in them. I have worn these boots all day with no problem. If comfort and support is what you are looking for, I would definitely recommend these boots. I would purchase them again.

Just spent a week running through mud and they kept my feet perfectly dry. Lightweight. No break in period. I'm a little klutzy and they definitely gave my ankles the support they needed - so slips, trips or falls. :) The only problem I had was that I have a bone spur on one foot and they rubbed that spot a bit... just needed to place a bandaid over the area and I was fine. No problems on the other foot... so I'm going to say that was a "me" problem, not a problem with the shoes. :)

Fabulous comfy boots, love them. I walk my dog every day and so have worn these pretty much every day since I bought them almost four months ago (or to put it another way walked about 250 miles in them). They were so comfy right from the start. The sizing is a little small so I went for a half size more than my usual biggest size (7 instead of 6.5), perfect fit. Warm, waterproof and more substantial than they look. I'm so impressed I'm about to buy another pair just the same.

I recently purchased these shoes for a two week jaunt around Europe. I needed some comfy shoes that I could walk in all day, every day and not have to worry about rain if it started to fall. These shoes were perfect for my trip! They were the only pair of shoes I took and in city after city they held up. Definitely a worth while purchase! Now I look forward to using them locally as I hike the hills and trails around Los Angeles.

I have worn a women's size 8 in this model boot (without the Goretex feature) in the past, and the fit was very comfortable. A size 8 in the Goretex version seems to have less padding on the inside, so I have to wear extra thick socks in order to achieve the same comfort level. Note: I normally wear size 7.5 in sneakers.Unlike the pair I used to have, this version actually is waterproof.

Have had 3 pairs of these boots now, they last and as I walk my dog 3 times a day in all weather's I can say until they wear out my feet don't get wet.Would have liked to have got them in a size 6 but none in stock,so got the 6.5 which I have put an extra insole in so they fit better,I find these boots easy to get on and off and I find the laces in them stay tied..some laces don't.

I am a long distance walker and have been wearing Merrell walking shoes for a couple of years now, always purchasing from Amazon. This winter as it was so wet I decided to try a pair of boots. From the moment I put them on they fitted like a glove and were so comfortable. Despite walking through puddles and mud I have never had wet feet so for me these are the perfect boots.

When I first put these boots on they felt like lovely comfy slippers, since then I have been out a for a couple of longish walks and have covered about 30 miles and they still feel like lovely comfy slippers and my feet have stayed dry, fab slipper, sorry I meant boots well done Merrell, I look forward to completing wainwrights coast to coast next June in them.

Finally, I have found the right walking shoes for me. I bought this shoes and used it when my husband and I went to Somerset for a week holiday. We explored Exmoor everyday for a week wearing this shoes and surprisingly, not a single blister or sign of any discomfort. It's light and durable. I will certainly recommend this product.

These boots are very comfortable, warm and waterproof. They provide good support to the instep and comfortable around the ankle. I have a fairly wide foot and found my normal size just right after adjusting the tightness of the laces when they arrived. I wear them every day for walking my dog and would definitely recommend.

I got this for my trip to Peru 8 months ago but unfortunately got sick and this trip never happened. Last Thanksgiving we went to Yosemite and I had a chance to try my new Merrel boots. I have bunions, hiking always a pain but boots are so comfortable, that didn't feel my feet at all. Very happy with this purchase. Thanks

I needed waterproof walking boots to take my dogs out twice a day, although I have not had them very long yet, they are comfortable , they did not rub or need "breaking in", and more importantly they are completely waterproof, I have walked through puddles and long wet grass and have dry warm feet at the end of the walk.
