I collect 'Fire Dept' lego, so for me it was a must for my collection. But seeing as most of the other large technics sets these days have motorised features, I was a bit disappointed that this set doesn't have any motorised bits. As for age range (this is aimed at 9 - 16 year olds); I reckon this would be good for 9+ yrs, by 16 though, if they've already had some 'Technic' experience, I reckon it might not be challenging enough.

I built this set with my 4 year old over Christmas, and he built the alternative jet plane by himself over half term. It's amazing how the lego engineers manage to put a kit together that uses almost exactly the same parts to make totally different models.I don't think 9-16 is a realistic age range. I'm sure there's plenty of budding youngsters able to build this set.

The product is exactly the same as the description. The fire plane is a challenge for solving, which is the reason why we choose technique of Lego. Anyway, this is a good product with swift delivery, thanks to the supplier.

Cannot say a lot about it as it is a present for my Grandson and it is his birthday on the 9th Jan. but no doubt he will be thrilled and will not require his dad or grand-dad to assist in the construction!

My 7yr old son is besotted with Lego and absolutely loved this model. He managed to complete it within a day and has been playing with it ever since. Also had AMAZINGLY super fast delivery!!!

Having recently celebrate my 40th with a seaplane trip this seemed too good a present to miss. So this is the permanent reminder to a wonderful experience. So thank you Wifey.

I really enjoyed building this plane, though I don't feel it was challenging enough. I was annoyed that it wasn't compatible with the motor kit. Would recommend for 9+.

Sent this to my 8 year old grandson and he's finding it a real challenge which is great because usually he finishes them in ten minutes.

Our 10 year old daughter loved this. Took her 7 to 8 hours to build herself and all the moving and working parts make it great fun.

My nephew always loves lego - this one is harder than usual as he's at the bottom of the age range but no problem for Dad to help!
