Introduction: As part of the 'Super Car' family, Lego sure gave the Chiron the VIP treatment; very big and very expensive. Building Process:Just like the real Chiron, this Technic set did a very good job recreating the building process, the 'marriage' process is especially well done, is a quite an accomplishment when the two halfs of the car comes together and all the axels and gears connects perfectly. The builder will spend about 80% of their time building the internal structure of the car, and is a trully beautiful thing to watch the car taking shape piece by piece. The transmission is the most complex part of the vehicle, is no small feat for Lego to design such intricate structure within the space available,enjoy the interactions of the gears while you can, becasue once the body panels are on you will never see those gears again, and this is one of the down sides of the recent 'ultra' realstic Technic sets. Features:Cars always have a special spot in Technic history, the Car Chassis, Test Car and the legendary 8880 Super car were all technological marvels at the time, each one packing more features than the last, however the reccent 1:8 IP/OEM car line seems to be going on a different direction than before when it comes features and functions.For a flagship Technic set such as the Chiron,one would expect a lot of functionalities from all those (3600-1) bricks, but the result seems a bit lacking when you compare to super cars of the past. The car comes with 4WD, working steering, pedal shifters with 8 gears, and last but not least the adjustable rear spoiler. Impressive as those features are, nothing is trully revolutionary, you would think for a super car such as Chiron there would be at least some kind of power function/lighting effects support, not only there is none it doesn't even have a door latch, is a huge step backwards as set as old as the 8448 Super Street Sensation (1999) even had spring driven doors! Overall Impression:With everything been said, the Technic Chiron sure looks great upon completion, however aside from sitting on a shelf or inside a display case, its complex gear box and mechanisms won't have much chance to demonstrate their interactions under 'play' condition, as most of the gears are covered under the intricate body panels, unless you are using a power function motor and the speed computer, you won't be able to tell which gear you are in, and whether the car is in Drive or Reverse(it doesn't even inlude sticker for the drive mode lever!). When a Technic set lets you build a completely usless mini handbag with the OEM logo and a fake 'Top speed key' to open the rear spoilers, you know this is no play set, but rather an expensive 'luxry' decoration for your room. The included Technic functionalities are more likely just used to justifiy the hefty price tag, rather than add play/education value, this set is way too big and heavy to be played, even if you do you will get no satisfaction by just rolling the wheels and see almost nothing moving inside. I appraise the Chiron's design and the efforts that the design team put in, however I do not like the direction Lego is taking with the flagship Technic Super Car series. Is becoming more like an IP/OEM showcase rather than technological testbed, looks are everything and functionalities comes second, you are paying more for the brand than actual play experience. If you ever had the chance to build the classic Super Car sets like the 8865, 8880, or the 8448, you would understand where my frustration is coming from. I know Lego's goal now is to make profit, but it shouldn't make its flaghsip sets as luxry goods, is just a betrayal to the Lego name, you should be able to play well without a heavy cost.

I'm an adult Lego fan and a car enthusiast, so this purchase came very natural. First of all, this is a really great LEGO design. I can appreciate the work and effort that went into it. It took me about 20 hours and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of the building process. The car is massive and looks very impressive from every angle. It was an amazing experience putting the engine and transmission together and also covering everything up to give it the Chiron shape. Here are my impressions. I'll give it 5 stars for what it is and how I enjoyed it, but I'll also list what I think could have been done better. what I liked: - great building experience. enjoyed every moment of it.- impressive size and weight. I can't believe how massive this beast is! It is a 12 pounds hunk of plastic once assembled! - awesome exterior to make it instantly recognizable. Yes, the back looks more complete than the front but I believe it was much easier to design due to less curves and easier geometry. If you are looking for a 1:1 reproduction you shouldn't be looking at lego. - awesome interior with great seat design and console. It's a great bonus for a technic set and I'm glad they added that extra detail. - genius shifting mechanism in the cockpit- nice looking, absolutely massive WR16 engine. Looks awesome in motion. While you can't see the gearbox in action, at least you can remove the engine cover and see all 16 cylinders firing!!! - great rear wing mechanism. Now to the things that could have been done better: - Suspensions have a hard time supporting the weight of the car. Need stiffer springs to bring the thing back up. - headlights don't look like the real thing, which are square halos with black in the center in the real Chiron and give it a characteristic agressive look. I feel this was a missed opportunity to make it look even more like the actual car. Could have put black square stickers/printed elements at the back of the lights to achieve that effect. - Cylinders only move immediately when you move the car in the reverse gear. In forward gears you have to push the car 1 foot until you see cylinders moving, making it difficult to spot gear shift impact. - Changes in cylinder firing frequency due to the gear shifts are almost impossible to spot when shifting through the gears due to the previous issue of the cylinders not moving right away when moving the car and the gear ratios employed. - It is impossible to know which gear you are in since the sequential gearbox just keeps shifting 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-1-2-3 ...…. Would be nice if it would stop you from shifting beyond 7 or lower than 1. - turning radius could have been improved. While not cheap it's still a highly recommended set. But when was a Bugatti ever cheap ...

Having built the UCS Millennium Falcon some time ago, I was ready for another challenge and this model has become my favorite Lego build. While working on it I was inspired to learn about the real Bugatti Chiron and I was blown away by all I learned, from Buggati's history to how the vehicle is assembled and it's capabilities. The car is an engineering marvel. As I proceeded through the build, I could see the level of detail that the Lego designer put into this model. The bags are numbered which increased my enjoyment. However, after the "marriage" part at stage 6 I tested the wheels by spinning them by hand and noticed they would spin only a turn or two and then stop.I disassembled most of what I completed and located that my mistake was in the gearbox with the orange pieces that engage the various gears. I didn't have those orange pieces sitting correctly so there they would be able to engage the gears. Based on some similar problems I've seen builders have on YouTube who unfortunately discovered a problem with the wheels not turning after the model was completely finished; I recommend testing the wheels to make sure they spin after the marriage where you join the front and rear halves of the model. The wing was also a bit of a challenge for some reason, but it ultimately came together perfectly. My second suggestion for builders is to take their time and enjoy the process. I've seen several videos where people try to rush assembly and ultimately make a mistake. Even with my mistake this was a great experience and I enjoyed putting the model together and learning about the real Chiron. The model looks great and the more you learn about the real Chiron, the more you will appreciate what went into designing this piece. I enjoyed the Chiron so much, that I ordered the technic Porsche which I had to get from a third party because it is a retired product. From what I see, the Bugatti blows the Porsche away, but I got addicted to the engineering that goes into these models.

This kit is unlike any other (unless you happen to already have the gt3 RS, it is quite like that ;)) The finished product is absolutely beautiful to look at and forms a real centrepiece due to it's massive size.There are however several mechanical flaws.The gearbox must be built super-carefully to ensure 0 friction is present. If done correctly, it works really well. What doesn't work really well is the entire drivetrain. For the wheels to get to the engine, the drivetrain goes through the gearbox, then up to the forwards/backwards selector, then all the way back to the engine. This 180 degree switchback at the forwards backwards selector introduces so much friction that the clutch gear engages and nothing moves.I tried multiple times to rebuild and reduce friction but to no avail. In the end I bypassed the reverse selector and joined the gearbox straight up to the engine, and the result was a massive difference, totally worth not having reverse for.The other major flaw is the suspension. It stands up, but when compressed doesn't spring back. The car is simply too heavy. I solved this by attaching horizontal axles to the suspension assembly to create far stronger force as the weight of the car tries to (but doesn't) bend the axle. Instructions to fix most flaws can be found with google searching.Considering the fault in the gearbox and the fact that it doesn't even hold it's own weight, why do I give it 4 stars? I simply can't argue with the looks and beauty of it. It grows on you more and more each day, trust me. And any faults you find are easily fixable, due to very well designed chassis structure, it is quite editable. Mainly it is just a warning I issue, not to expect everything to work perfectly no matter how careful you are building it. The building experience is absolutely unrivaled by any set I've ever built too. Savour it; you fingertips will thank you later.

This is an amazingly detailed model, faithfully recreating numerous iconic aspects of both Bugatti design in general, and the Chiron in particular, including the horseshoe grille, the sweeping exterior curves, and the custom pattern wheels. The build itself is rather long and involved, taking me almost twelve hours over the course of two days, though much of that time is spent assembling the rather robustly designed frame and undercarriage and the intricately modeled seven speed dual-clutch transmission and monstrous 8 liter W16 engine. However, despite how complex the build is, the instructions are well designed and mostly pretty easy to follow barring a few places where it's easy to misssmall pieces being added to much larger assemblies.The transmission in particular is extremely impressive, both the internal gearing and the shifting mechanism make inventive use of individual pieces to produce a remarkably complex and thoroughly robust system. It's honestly a bit of a shame in my opinion that there's no way to see most of it once the model is fully assembled.The design is rather sturdy (more so than I would normally expect for a LEGO model, though this is the first Technic model I've built that's on this scale), though some of the exterior modeling is a bit less robust than I would personally have liked if I hadn't bought this as anything other than a display model. The detailing relies heavily on carefully placed stickers in some places, which I'm not hugely fond of but can understand given that custom printed parts would have significantly raised the price of the model.Overall, this is a great model for the value, especially given the history of models like this becoming valuable collectibles once they're no longer being produced. I would highly recommend it for both fans of complex LEGO sets and fans of sports cars.

This is my first Technic build (well since the late 70's when they first came out anyways). It was great fun - I spent the week between C-mas and New Years building the Chiron. It was definitely more fun than I anticipated and the level of detailing is really nice. The engineering that went into the transmission, suspension, drivetrain, engine, etc is quite impressive. The hood design is a little disappointing while the rear end is really nice! Overall I found the instructions to be pretty good. Unfortunately I did make a mistake and had to do a partial tear-down which was a pain (see below). I believe in step 187, part 2, I reversed the small pin and this was impinging on the gears outside the motor.Somehow I missed this and had to go back from the end of Book 1 where the "marriage" process occurs. Some thoughts:- No missing pieces. I had the usual extra small pieces at the end too.- The transmission uses rubber bands to hold the gear selector. Inevitably these will dry out and break. It would be nice if Lego could figure out how to use springs instead.- If you need to tear down and re-build the model some of the pieces are brutally hard to remove. A great example would be the long gray pin pieces that slide into a blind hole (e.g. you cant push them out from the other end and the head of the pin is flush w/ the beam so you cant really grab onto it). See step 467 for example. I had to remove all the structure around the pin(s) and then twist all the parts until I could a grasp on the pin. Ideally Lego would add a slide on sleeve at the end of the pins so that there is some exposed length to grab onto. With this in mind moving forward I will probably never push blind pins in all the way until I'm 100% sure the build is correct! All in all an amazing build that I would recommend to anyone.

Right away when opening this set you can tell Bugatti and Lego put their all into it. It is presented with so much more prestige than your typical Lego set. Inside the box is a collection of smaller boxes and the instruction manual that make up a picture of a Bugatti. The reverse of these has another picture as well. So right away you can tell you are getting into a set that Bugatti and Lego put their all into. There are two instruction books included and the division of bags into different numbered boxes makes it easy to follow along and stay organized. It took me around 12 hours to put it together and it was quite enjoyable. There is a podcast they suggest listening to while building.I did not listen to it, mainly cause there was other content I felt like having on. One of the more difficult steps was when you need to merge the front of the car with the back. You have to line up the drive shaft and a few other moving parts. The instructions tell you to make sure certain moving parts are placed in a certain direction but there is not much guidance on what to test once these are together to make sure everything is working. I would suggest putting the wheels on at this point for testing on a flat surface. The wheels should rotate the drive shaft and if you move the shift knob towards the engine, then the pistons in the engine should move when the car moves (I believe the shifter is on at this point). After you test take the wheels back off. It looks amazing when put together. I don't think I will take this set apart or rebuild it like I have with others. The long tube pieces that make up some of the curves of the car seem like they could get really messed up with repeated builds. Overall, it is a set I would definitely recommend to anyone that enjoys both cars and Lego.

Where do I begin?! This set was an incredible experience from start to finish. Opening the box to see the mosaic of images on the front of the smaller internal boxes was a very nice touch. The instructions manual is incredibly sturdy and has some incredibly appealing extra content inside, including some beautiful photos and informative passages as you move through each section of the build. As for the actual build experience, it was easily one of the most challenging builds I have ever embarked on, however I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would say to make sure that you are double checking every step you do, because as the build progresses it becomes quite challenging at times to see what goes where.However, overall i was very pleased with how clear the instructions were, and how much fun it was to build the set. Now on to the finished product. Well, one thing that I was no expecting was the absolute size of the thing! It was huge when I was done. The bodywork is very well done considering the limited range of the technic panels, especially on the sides of the car. One complaint is that there are many quite noticeable gaps, however I understand that without creating new panels and pieces, it would be impossible to fill them in. I think my favourite part of the model is definitely the back. It recreates the actual car incredibly well, and also has some very nice functions such as the spoiler and the moving pistons in the fake engine. Overall, I think the functions are great, however I have had a problem with the suspension sagging when you push it down instead of sprinting up. However, everything else works flawlessly and I would definitely recommend this set to anyone who has the space for it!

Don't let the price scare you: this set is expensive, but worth it. No, I'm not getting paid to write this. I am just seriously impressed by this set.Don't let the build time scare you either: it took me five days in total to finish the build, but obviously I did other things, too. I know, crazy isn't it that there is life outside of Lego? (And no, I'm not getting paid to say that either.)Let me explain.This is a challenging build, but designed and constructed with such an attention to detail that it was an utter joy. First of all, the packaging. Inside the box you have six separate boxes. Inside the boxes are numbered plastic bags. What this means is that you can build the Bugatti in separate sequences.Also, there is no confusion as to where the required parts are, as the bags are numbered sequentially. This is all clearly marked in the building instructions. You begin with box one, bags marked one, and move on.This takes the irritation of searching for the parts out of the equation, while keeping the challenge of the build itself high. It's also pedagogic, as you have eleven instances of having accomplished something before you reach the final phase.And the packaging itself... just beautiful. And I love the fact that when you open the box you are met with the front of the Chiron, and once the build is complete and the empty boxes are back inside the main box, it's the rear of the Chiron that is on display. Genius.All in all this set just blew me away. After the Porsche 911 GT3 I thought there was no way I could feel as excited about a Lego set, but I was wrong. Like many of the others, I can't wait for the next one.

This LEGO Chiron kit is STELLAR. It took me in total 18.5 hours (12 late evenings sessions) of getting these 3.5k+ pieces built together to this awesome looking display model (actually this is my 2nd one following the Porsche kit which also is an outstanding piece of art and of engineering craftmanship). It takes more than just the playful skills of a kid to build this Chiron kit and this work provides a lot of sweat even to the more advanced builder. The best advice is to follow each and every single step in the two manual books in order to avoid any frustration when it comes to the marriage and to the very detailed body/frame.I took pictures every time I finished with one of the 13 bags,so I could show my building progress step by step to family and friends (besides slapping my shoulders what a great result I accomplished with my own two hands...)The engine with its 16 pistons/valves is my favorite (zero flaws!), shifting the gears is quite challenging, but who dares to critize anyone who was involved in this professional engineering project process? Certainly not me. LEGO and BUGATTI both did a great job on the design of the kit and of the box(es). Superior quality materials result in an adequate price tag, so anyone who wants to buy cheap gets cheap, of course. The body shape and color looks authentic, the interior and wheels too. The plastic parts which form the horseshoe on the front is indeed the one and the only thing that looks cheapish to me. I am confident that LEGO is on the right track by having invented this supercar series within their Technic sets. Looking forward to the next exciting one (in 2020?)!

Another instant classic from my favourite toy maker, a brilliant collaboration between Lego and Bugatti I ordered mine a couple of days ago and am also most drooling at the thought of the epic challenge , my wife has bought me the all terrain crane for Christmas but I got a bad case of FOMO and had to buy it , I may be almost 60 but I have never grown up ( and never will when it comes to Lego ) I have watched the videos on line and looked up the build plans on the Lego site in anticipation , most recommended and I have not even got it yet.It arrived ok today and almost mugged the driver , believe me when I saw the box it was so exciting but only till I took the lid off and looked inside ,exquisite is all I can say and any person with experience of technic can see this is on such a different level from other technic builds , I am going on holiday till new year so when the build starts I will update MERRY TECHNICMAS TO ALLUpdateSo much has happened I actually forgot I had this in the loft so in these strange times building this was a great distraction, this is not an easy build in any sense the parts are the usual technic parts but with a much tighter fit than others I have done , also some of the instructions can be a little shady as to where some smaller assembly’s go, I got caught out a couple of times with the rear wing and other bits that I had thought I was in the right place which involved some deconstruction and some angst , but in the end the final outcome was impressive let’s face it this is the closest I will ever get to a real Bugatti anyway

It never stops to amaze me the engineering and imagination that goes into designing this beautiful kits. I have built the Carrousel, the Roller Coaster, the Ferris Wheel, the Star Destroyer and the Millenium Falcom among others but when it comes to detail and ingenuity, this kit has it all. I am taking my time building it to enjoy at its fullest the intricate details it has. Yes, there are some minor flaws in the instruction books but I use those to enhance my ability to build. I still have some work to do, the kit is not finished. But I had to to write this review. The way the engineering of parts and how the power train and front section mate, so perfectly aligned parts, incredible!If I was to find a real flaw, it would be that the kit is not motorized. But needles to say somebody will find a way of doing so. The box is a work of art! The way the different parts boxes are printed and placed to simulate the rear of the car (one section) is great. I plan to use the box to showcase the kit. I have pre-ordered de Lamborghini Sian and expect delivery within the next days. My only hope is that the kit is as challenging or better than this. Thank you for keeping me active through the pandemic with the kits. They helped my household stay calmed and at ease. Yes, I recommend Lego kits to any and all my family and friend's. They keep your mind active, help keep your mechanical and motor skills active and in shape and are a very good promoting family playing together. P.S.: As a general comment, it is sad to see so many excellent kits “out of stock”.

This set was my last hurrah before I deploy overseas. I have the 911 GT3 RS, and this set acts as an excellent companion to it. The color is perfect, it’s a great contrast to the Porsche’s bright orange, and the two tone gives the car a certain pop I really enjoy. If you are a fan of automobiles, or machines in general, this set was made for you. It features the 16 piston engine like the real thing, a manual transmission with paddle shifters by the steering wheel, working independent suspension, and steering. While some would find the complicated mechanical functions a chore to build and a nightmare to get right, I love it.I would even go as far to say it’s my favorite part of the build — all the little gears and sprockets coming together and working perfectly is a satisfaction I never tire of. Putting the body panels on is just the icing to a delicious cake. Everything about this set screams quality. The beautiful rims, the passenger cabin, the engine cover — even the packaging is oozing class. It’s the kind of box you’ll keep just because it looks far too nice to throw out. The set will look great on my shelf, and I can’t wait to show this and the Porsche off to all my friends and guests. The price tag is definitely a hurdle many will not want to leap over, and I wouldn’t blame them. But for an enthusiast of both cars and Lego such as myself, it’s worth it. I love this set, and I can’t wait for the next technic car. Fingers crossed for an NSX, Viper, Corvette, or Demon! ✌️

I was completely blown away when I opened this box up as it is all sectioned up in to individual boxes which are then printed to make up a view of the actual vehicle this set is based on. Even better, you can change the boxes up to make up a rear view. The inside of the box lid is also printed with concept drawings of various Bugatti vehicles. Simply gorgeous packaging that I will be keeping intact and not folding down for flat storage.As anticipated the build itself is complex and you really need to concentrate. So much so I spent 4 Days constructing this vehicle and really immersing myself in the whole build experience.The upshot of this was that I had no functionality issues when it was built and the drive train seems to work well with the gearing. There are some tricky sections where you have to work from underneath - so much so my husband asked if I wanted him to build me an inspection pit.I cannot say enough good about this set. I was so disappointed to finally finish the build and I would happily start it all over again right now with the hugest grin on my face. Definitely one for the Lego Addict though as it is not going to be quick to construct no matter how experienced you are and it WILL challenge you. I was so impressed with how it all went together I actually took progress pictures of how each box broke down in to construction.Number Of Pieces: 3599Approximate Price Per Piece: £0.09Build Time: 15 Hours
