Without a doubt, these are the best priced Lego 'Plates' on the net. After selling a huge amount of Lego many years ago, I've needed quite a few baseplates to keep my old Minifigures on (Lets face it, it's not the easiest task to keep them together!) and so its good to see that these are still being sold separately. Many high-street toy shops sell this product in a variety of colours, and of course Lego themselves do through their Online and retail stores, but their was no way on Earth I could pay their prices. Trust Amazon then to undercut them all by almost 50%, which means I can order twice as many baseplates and get them for basically half the price. In return, Amazon's pricing is a completely fair reflection of,what is surely, one of the most basic and essential Lego products on the market, and will continue to be so.This baseplate itself is the classic green colour, and its design hasn't changed for almost 20 years. One of the best attributes of these Plates is that if they get dirty/dusty, you can wash them no problem at all. Just pop them in a tub of warm water (with a gentle solution, if you prefer), remove and wipe thoroughly with a tea-towel, then you're good to go again!I read reviews of other baseplates (including the Extra Large version) and noted many suggesting that the plates seemed 'flimsier' now than many years ago. Just to reform this argument, the current design baseplate was only introduced in the early 1990's, and in comparing my new green one to an old 'sandy' coloured one that I got with a Pirate's set around 1991, they are both just as stiff. I would therefore suggest that the flimsiness depends entirely on the baseplates size. 'Plates before the 1990's were indeed thicker, but they were also a different design.Only improvement I would suggest for retailing is that, in addition to selling them on their own, Lego should sell these baseplates in 'packs' of 4 - thus saving shelve space and money. It would be lovely to see them either with packs of the same colour, or one with Red, Blue, Green and Grey included.

First of all, I would just like to say that the price amazon are selling these for are the best prices I have found, I have bid on baseplates on eBay and every time they've always gone up to higher prices than this even without postage. So I am very impressed with the price of 4.99 I paid.Second of all, I'm not too please with the size. This isn't Amazon's fault. Lego seems to be a bit tight these days! However, I bought four and stuck them together to get the size I want. I did look at the x-large baseplate but for the price it was cheaper to do it this way and its not that much bigger.I have to admit, although this is a thin baseplate and not double sided like the building plates from back in the day,I am shocked, I already have one of the thin baseplates from about twenty years ago and you can't see through it like these. If you hold them up to the window you can see your hand through it but this doesn't happen with the older ones. Just make sure you stick them down with tape or blue tack to avoid any damage. However, despite the few negative points, I am sooooo excited to play with this, I'm not even going to bother pretending it's for my kids or siblings because its not, it's all mine and my boyfriends! I'm ordering a set of 1600 blocks as we speak and my life is now dedicated to building something spectacular!

This is a Lego green base that is perfect for building your lego on. It is very ideal if you wish to build parks, grass, farms and so on. It keeps children entertained for ages provided they have a decent amount of bricks. The downside of this product is that it is very floppy, so be careful not to move the base about too much. Secondly, it is rather overpriced for what it is. Thirdly, it is not so big as other Lego bases. If you want a bigger sized base, I think the extra large grey one would be better but it is more duller though. However, this product is still important to have in every Lego collection. If you manage to get another base, you can join them up using bricks. All in all,its a really nice lego base to have and will really brighten up your lego building.

I'm very pleased with this classic LEGO baseplate. My kids have just started getting into LEGO, and I had read base plates were flimsier/not as good as they used to be. However, this size of base plate is pretty much as I remember - decent quality, and slightly bendable if you need to pop off flat bricks that are stuck to the plate.Only thing to watch is Amazon's bizarre options - buying a 2 or 3 pack seems to increase the price far more than just buying the 1 pack option, and changing the quantity. Wouldn't expect anyone to fall foul of that, but worth noting just in case...

A super bit of plastic that if like myself find dusting the windowsills or chest of drawers a nightmare (lots of Lego made figures and shapes. This is ideal. The plastic green base is a sound item for keeping your models made in one place, even if a little flimsy. Not like the old fashioned big grey ones from the 70's about half the thickness but even so, better to use one of these than to have to try to move lots of pieces without being found out.A great stocking filler for any Lego lover and much appreciated by most parents (less bits to get sucked up the Hoover).

This is an extremely useful addition to any Lego collection. Not only does it hold bits of Lego still making them easier to be added to, it encourages 3-D building for children who have a tendency to build 2-D 'towers'.Can be linked together with other plates of the same or different colours to create towns, beaches etc. and stretch young imaginations. Also very useful when you are putting Lego away. Just stick all the blocks onto the board and you have a solid lump of Lego, reducing the loss of small parts.

The Lego Base Plate, essential for grandchildren to build theirLego models wasn't in stock in my local store(Guiseley), however the Guiseley staff were very helpful in that they looked on-line to see which Argos stores had it in and also told me that they wouldn't be re-stocking the item before Christmas. This clarified my thoughts and I decided to reserve it at White Rose, the only one left in Leeds! This saved time looking on line and saved fuel shopping around! Well Done Argos Guiseley!

my daughter is into lego and already had a box of it but came with small base plate.and as wanted to make a loada large buildings needed a bigger plate.this is what it is , large enough to build good size stuff on but still think overpriced .just a shame other leading brands bricks which are compatiable with lego dont do a base plate as prob would buy from my bricks etc etc . but overall pleased as was what expected just bit overpriced for 1 flimsy pce plastic.

Bought for my son's birthday as he is just getting started with Lego. The board is a good size and nice and sturdy which assists with creations being built on the board and not falling apart, as they have been doing when he has been building on the carpet. He has built many things on what he calls his "grass" and it is really helping expand his imagination and creativity when it comes to playing with his Lego. All good stuff really!

I have bought this item for my three year old. It's just the same as the one my mum has had since we were young. My mum's is still in great condition and I'm sure this one will last just as long. Great for building pretty much anything you can imagine on it (although when I see lego all I can vision is walls, but my 3 year old seems pretty satisfied with them).A must have for any creator, big or little. Great value for money.

Ordered online to show it was available at my local store.Paid for it and was able to go straight down and collect from my nearest store.Even though near Christmas very speedy and excellent service.Base Plate as advertised , does the job, they are a bit more flimsy than older versions but time will tell whether they last as long.Very pleased with purchase as grandchild delighted with it to add to his growing collection of Lego.

Bought with Lego 'starter' bucket so this was an essential purchase to get the best out of it.Unlike the bases I had as a kid (and, still own) this is much larger but still of the usual excellent Lego quality.Might seem expensive for what it is but without it your child isn't going to get very far without it, unless all they want is those over-priced and boring 'one-build' products (Star Wars spaceships etc).

Bought this Lego base in the 3 for 2 so it was a great bargain and you can never have enough Lego bases when you have children obsessed with Lego as much as mine. We are going to cover it with small white flat bases to create a winter scene for their Lego Advent Calendar, so they can add to it each day with the individual pieces, great project to keep my boys occupied until Christmas Day.

This was recommended by an Argos staff member, who said it was a must have , product to accompany our Lego purchase , I feel she advised me correctly , as this enabled us to play , and build our Lego Spider-Man hideout . Without this it would have been disastrous , only complaint it was not really big enough , but overall a must have for Lego enthusiasts like us , great safe product
