Isn't it amazing just how many kettles are not up to the task for which they are created - boiling water to make a simple cuppa! Too, noisy, too cumbersome, too small a reservoir and so on.I recently fell foul of the temptation on looks. Yes, I was the muppet who purchased a kettle based on how it looked and how well it would go in my kitchen. It seemed like a good idea at the time and I justified this act because it was a reputable brand. Hah! It looked good but even that did not last as it was constantly requiring cleaning thanks to very visible water marks which just didn't want to come off. It didn't hold much water so needed to be filled each time I made a drink for myself and hubby. If you filled it to the max then it spat scalding water out of the spout as it boiled and splashed dangerously as you tried to pour and finally it was noisy, I mean REALLY noisy, there wasn't a room in the house, or the garden for that matter where you couldn't hear the damned thing! It looked great though...Anyway less of that complaining and on to this kettle. I admit that I pondered on this purchase for a while because I didn't much like the look of it. Eventually though, after scalding my hand for the umpteenth time I decided to get it. it was cheap and reviews were good.Looks. The picture does not do it justice at all, it actually looks much nicer in reality, it is neat, tidy and quite graceful.Cleaning - The design is such that it really doesn't need much attention with regards to cleaning but it is very easy to just wipe and leaves behind no residue or staining.Noise - This is nicely quiet, you can hear it if you stand next to it but not at a distance or in another room. Just right in my opinion.Speed - I have to say that I think this is the fastest kettle I have ever owned. Even filled to max it boils in no time at all.Pour - An odd one but it does matter. The pour is comfortable and easy. The design is such that you would not spill when pouring and it is not an effort even when filled to max. It's actually quiet comfortable.Taste - Another odd one but some kettles possess a strange metallic taste to the water. I'm pleased to say that this is not one of those.Overall - Cheap, reliable, well made, extremely easy to use. Feels good to hold/pour/fill, looks good and is quiet and fast to boil.Be silly really to debate it any further. Just get one.

Excellent! Possibly the best toaster I have ever owned!Get this, it actually toasts evenly! I know, amazing right? Funny how many toasters are capable of this though isn't it?I have to say that the 'dial' feels a little flimsy and poor quality but despite this it works perfectly and performs well.UpdateSince writing this review my Husband informed me that he thought this toaster was "utterly useless. The crappest toaster ever". I was somewhat confused why he would think this when I was so very impressed by the even coverage of toasting, the speed and the fact that it pops up enough to retrieve bagels without burning fingers too. I put this to him and he responded by reiterating how useless it was."I have to put it in 4 or 5 times to even begin to get any kind of toasting". At this I knew something was very wrong so asked him to show me. After the ensuing domestic covering issues such as "Do you think i'm an idiot? I know how to use a toaster!" and "Why can you never just believe me?" he agreed to show me. He fetched it out of the cupboard, plugged it in, etc and then placed a piece of bread in it and pushed the lever down to begin toasting. I noticed that it was set as low as it goes so pointed this out to him 'No it isn't! It's under the button that says 'toast', the other ones are defrost and cancel". Trying not to laugh or show any amusement I informed him that he was wrong. Cue domestic "I do know how to use a toaster" take 2. I shall not bore you with the details but lets just say that he now agrees that this is actually a rather glorious toaster!Tip.1. Always check you have the toaster turned up.2. The slider is independent of the 3 buttons above it!3. Men may require supervision.4. Men do not apologise, especially when they are proven wrong.

Stylish looking kettle, I also have the matching toaster. Looks aren't everything, of course but the operation is fine too. Boils quickly, not overly noisy and doesn't produce excessive amounts of steam. It can be rotated either way on the base and has a hidden element inside. I'm not a fan of stainless steel kettles, due to the build up of limescale, so this plastic kettle, with chrome effect trim and handle, wipes clean very easily. I didn't notice any plastic tasting water from this kettle at all, but best to boil and discard the first few times to be sure. There is a water filter inside the spout which pops out easily for cleaning, it's well made and not flimsy like some cheaper models. It also has an illuminating water window and on/off button which turns blue when boiling. The only small negative is that the water level indicator is situated behind the handle and it is marked 3 - 8, I assume that means cups, but is not clear. Anything below 3 and you are guessing how much water is in the kettle as there is no indicator. It really could be clearer and a minimum level marker would be more helpful for those who only wish to boil enough for 1 cup, we are always being told to save energy after all! The price is ok for what you get, I wouldn't pay any more just to boil water, but if you want something to look good, as well as just being functional, then I would recommend this kettle

Really like the look of this set, the style of both is fantastic. The kettle has it's own little base with a plug on so it's very easy to fill the kettle up. This is done by popping the lid completely off (rather than it hinging open as our previous kettle did) and this makes it much easier to fill up.There is a red backlight to indicate the kettle is on and it shows how full the kettle is via a transparent section. Our kitchen and living room are open plan and the kettle is louder than I'd like. Probably not an issue if you're kitchen is it's own room, but be aware you'll likely want to pause whatever you're watching to ensure you don't miss out on some vital dialogue thanks to the kettleboiling. The matching toaster also looks lovely. It has 4 toasting slots and you need to remember to use the 2 right hand slots when only wanting one or two items. This feels a little counterintuitive, I'd prefer the 2 left slots to be the main ones in use, but one you get the hang of it it's not a problem.Does good toast and crumpets, although there have been a few times when the crumpet has become stuck to the toaster. Fortunately if using the large version it's easy enough to get them free.Has crumb trays which are kept hidden out of sight.

My wife really likes this kettle, it is jug like and plastic with a slightly retro look in keeping with our toaster and kitchen aid. It has a large capacity and actually quite a bit of dead space at the top to allow for boiling without overspilling. Although it has a retro look it has modern touches, the element inside is hidden and there are two blue LEDs to illuminate the water when it is heating. It has a base that acts as the power supply for the kettle with a reasonably long chord. It is a trivial note, but it is pleasing that the chord and plug are white as our coffee machine and milk frother have black chords and it means we know which is which now.The kettle boils much quicker than our old one and in use for about a week has taken me by surprise on being done as it is so quiet. It is quite light too and handled easily by our daughters aged 10 and 12. The instruction booklet says it can be handled by 8 years and over. The kettle has a small lid that can be removed rather than a push button sprung lid with a catch. As these mechanisms often fail I think the pull of lid is probably no worse.

This 'Breville Impressions Kettle' has most of the modern features we've come to expect from mid-priced kettles, such as LED backlighting when boiling, a limescale filter and a hidden rapid boil element. All serve their purpose and are working as expected after several weeks of continuous use. What makes this kettle a little different is the nice little touches, like the pop-off lid which comes off completely, making the kettle easier to fill and clean, and the sturdy but lightweight design which makes it easy to pick up and move around. With a healthy capacity of 1.7L, the kettle is large enough to make six or seven normal sized cups of tea (or two or three builders sized cups of tea),and will boil enough water for two normal sized cups of tea in about 60-70 seconds. The kettle is made from plastic and finished with chrome effect handle and trim. Some may argue that this makes the kettle feel a little cheap or flimsy but I would disagree. The retro design is simple but elegant and would look as much at home in a modern kitchen as it would a 1950's kithcen.

I purchased both the kettle toaster to match as I decided to change the kitchen appliances to match. Thought I would try Breville as I liked the design. The only thing I'm not too sure on is the fact that the kettle is plastic rather than stainless steel. My last kettle was Bosch which was stainless steel and lasted me a good 5 years no problem and was working fine still. I'm hoping that this kettle will have the same longevity. Note the kettle illuminates red rather than blue, but that doesn't bother me too much. Also it boils quietly which is nice and I have had no issues with the water tasting funny either. All in all I'm happy with it it matches the toaster and my new coffee machine.I just hope that being a plastic kettle rather than stainless steel it will last. I'm glad I paid less than £30, I don't think K would have paid the orginal price of over £50 for it. Overall I like it so I guess it will do to make a nice cuppa!

Needed a new kettle because the last one over two years old and a different make, was leaking. Chosen this kettle because it is plastic and weighs less, we think. We prefer a removable lid as opposed to a hinged lid because, many attached lids of other makes, have broken in the past.We use the spout for filling the kettle, and this design has a good spout. The handle placed on the side of the jug, allows more leverage and control when pouring.Being factory fresh, the kettle tends to taints the water; boiling up about five kettles of water, seems to have got rid of the plastic taste and smell. The blue light, which lights up when the the kettle is switch on, is quite pretty and more noticeable than the usual small, red, dot indicator.Overall, this kettle is recommended because it is made by a reliable company.

I wanted a cream kettle to match our Wickes Tiverton Bone kitchen and this matches perfectly; it isn't too cream or too beige. In addition, my ovens display the time/cooking temps etc in red and the dishwasher shines a red light when in use so I wasn't keen on having a kettle that was illuminated in blue when boiling- like some of the nice looking ones are. I was really pleased to find that the on switch on this kettle has a red light and the kettle glows red when boiling. Perfect. There is one thing to point out however-the kettle wouldn't work when I first tried it but on investigation I found it had been fitted with a 3 amp fuse.Changing the fuse to a higher amp solved the problem and saved me from returning the product.I also bought the matching Breville Toaster. I'm really pleased with both items.

First of all, this is a great toaster. I like being able to pop the bread up whilst it's toasting, just to have a quick look to check progress.Don't ignore the part in the instructions where it tells you to run the toaster empty once before you actually toast anything. Gets rid of any plasticky smells. What is less impressive is how hot the casing gets. Don't touch the top half of the outer case when the toaster has been on a short while. There are some odd little 'standoff' devices around the top edge, presumably to keep the plastic casing from touching the inner metal and (I guess) to keep it from overheating and melting. They add a bendy look to the casing.Overall aesthetics are still good though and this does appear to be a decent device, especially at the low price (I paid £29).

This Breville Impressions 4-Slice Toaster in Black is a replacement for our Russell Hobbs 4-Slice Toaster that has decided to stop working after a good many years.I did some research first, and came across this Breville Impressions Toaster with the colour I was looking for as an added bonus to suit our kitchen, which was also on offer - How could I resist! It works really well with some great features including lifting the handles without interrupting cooking, to check how it is browning and then you just pop back down to continue cooking should it not be brown enough, plus other features, and not only that, but it looks really stylish with its sleek black and stainless steel colours. So a great Toaster at a great price that looks absolutely great!

I bought this for my kitchen and also bought the matching kettle at the same time. Firstly, it arrived in enormous packaging which was far too big ... amazon take note! The toaster was very easy to set up with the removal of small parts of plastic before firing it up for the first time. As with any toaster the first toasting session emitted a strong chemical/plastic smell as the elements were used for the first time however there was no smoke and it did not happen a second time. It has 4 slots for toast and it appears that if you want only 1 or 2 slices that you need to use the right hand slots only ... the left hand slots seem to be an "overflow" and can only be used when the right hand slots are also in use.The matching combo with the kettle look great

Really lovely kettle. First of all, aesthetically it looks lovely - nice white design, silver trim details and the blue light that comes on glows nicely. Secondly, it pours really well. It has a large water capacity but even when full, when you're pouring, it balances nicely and evenly in your hand and doesn't feel too top heavy. The spout is well protected inside by a solid filter, and the spout itself is a good shape for pouring (the water comes out neatly). As other reviewers have said, it is a bit noisy when boiling (see the video - i had to raise my voice to be heard over it) but personally it doesn't bother me. No plasticy smell or taste as others have reported, which I was concerned about.Love it.

Bought this kettle and thought it might be a metal one but it's plastic. With past experience with plastic kettles they can make the water taste awful. After boiling twice as directed you could still taste something and there was a smell to it as well. Filled the kettle almost full of water and added some bicarbonate of soda and let it dissolve and stand for a while. Then boiled the kettle let it cool and emptied the water then rinsed the kettle out a couple of times. Found that this done the trick. Plastic kettles especially that are new do taste strong. Apart from that it looks stylish is lightweight and is quick to boil. Decent limescale filter. We use a filter jug as well to reduce the limescale.

Our expensive kettle that we had gave up the goose and broke after just 2 years of having it, so we needed a quick replacement and I searched to see what was available on Prime. I came across this kettle and decided to buy it as it was a nice shape, size and colour. We are really pleased with it, not only is it lighter than our old one (which is great for my bad back) but it is sturdy and a really nice shape and size. It has a nice light at the side that when boiling lights up in a red colour, and it is also quieter than our old kettle too, which used to rock on the sideboard as it reached boiling point as if it was about to take off to the moon.Very happy with this and would definitely recommend.
