As I begin writing this, I am still sitting on the fence about giving it 3 stars instead of 4.... Here is why:The electric cord is quite short, I have had to push it right up to the wall by my outlet, and cannot move the device more than an inch in any direction without it tending to topple. The design of the lid has two problematic faults - one, I have to reach over the Steaming lid to open it with force (hot!); & two, when the lid is opened after after emptying the boiling water, the steam condensed on the lid dribbles past & often onto my hand that is holding the kettle!!! (also hot hot hot!).In itself, it is a cutsey design on the countertop, lightweight, pours handily. The red button for turning on the boil is remarkable, (on my model), for requiring conscious pressure; otherwise, it will not turn on. I do not mind this personally because our last electric kettle, which died, (after daily & frequent-through-the-day use), at about two yeas of age tended to turn on with the slightest accidental pressure.I will follow up the review once this one has died... hopefully at least another two years? But next time, I intend to purchase a metal one that I have investigated the design closely for curious flaws such as exposed structural forms on the inside of the lid that can cause severe burns :-/Update: We have had the kettle less than a year by about 6 weeks (purchased 24 Sept 2016). The noise remains lite but the issue reported in some of the reviews, that the switch stops working, had now occurred. :( Quite sad about that... and cannot decide if it is worht another £10 + for less than a year.

Please bear in mind the following description is as 'compared to my previous kettle'(of which u probably were not acquainted :)) ..)Good Points:Pleasant appearance.Nice kettle, pours neatly, unless u tip it forwards 2 far.Lid is a snug fit(needs a firm tug to open same...of course there are - and + points to this feature)Grip is comfy. As others have mentioned the lead is quite short(a bonus in my kitchen).'On' switch is sturdy and lights up red wen pressed down.Automatically switches itself off.Is a fast boil.BUTAlthough here is a 'see through' panel incorporated on both sides of the kettle-this idea would be more useful were it NOT tinted 'nearly black'.I didnt realise this wen i purchased the kettle. If situated in a corner niche or a dimly lit kitchen(dull day/lo evening lights) its not possible to see the water level. Picking the kettle up and as one gets familiar with the weight of kettle + water one might b able to instinctively judge the amount of water in it but mayb for an elderly/slightly 'sight challenged' person this would be difficult to judge visually and could b a possible safety hazard. So:If ur a person constantly in the midst of an emergency... rushing in2 the kitchen for a comforting cuppa ... and r a bit of a ' glance & switch flicker' bware ;P .. and mayb choose a kettle with a lighter coloured water level panel. ... .. . . otherwise, enjoy.

Quest are a brand you might not have heard of yet they are popping up across a number of electrical appliances.Mainly kitchen based, you can collect almost every small appliance you are likely to need.I have tried their toaster, sandwich maker, slow cooker and halogen oven so far. All have performed well and were reasonably priced. This is the 1.7L kettle. Usually available in the standard Quest colour of black, it's easy to fill and has a robust feeling on/off button. This could be a very economical kettle to use. It has a 2200W element (water heater) which is a little under powered against standard sized kettles. However, if you fill for what you plan to use as opposed to filling to capacity, you will have boiling water very quickly indeed. As it's cordless, there is no unplugging, you just place the kettle on the base, switch on and wait. It's easy to fill your home with Quest products, I will certainly purchase again.

I bought this kettle because I've been so disappointed with other, much dearer brands. I've decided to go with the less expensive option and so far, so good. The kettle arrived really fast and, I have to say, the instruction manual is a joy - clear, plain, properly written English.Obviously I can't speak for durability yet but the kettle looks smart, and has a cord which is 70 cm or 23 inches long. Long enough for me, as it stands on my work-top and I just lift it to pour. Apart from that, it looks exactly like the picture on Amazon - shiny black plastic, quite smart, with a window to see water level and an easily-removable water filter. The lid is suitable for those with a visual disability as it has a deep cleft for opening, easy to find with the fingers. I shall report back with any further update, but for the present this iron gets my five stars.

This is a very good kettle. The water level in the kettle can be easily seen from both sides through large viewing windows. It is quiet is use and boils rapidly. The minimum water volume is acceptable at 0.5 lt. Why the missing star? There is a locating lug at the front of the kettle to keep the kettle square on its base. Sometimes, the kettle does not settle on this lug. Does this matter? In the longer term it probably does because a kettle that is slightly off square on its base will gently stress the electrical connections. However, one does very quickly become used to a slight twist of the kettle when placing it on its base that seems to completely remove the off lug problem. Sounds odd?In a way it is, but it so quickly becomes a natural action that it becomes unnoticed. Considering the price, this is a very good product.

The kettle is much quitter than my old one when boiling but not quite as fast. It has no lip around the edge so you can empty it out easier for descaling purposes and that's a big plus. However, the pouring will cause some people to overspill until they get used to it. I had no issues but my girlfriend made a mess the first few times as she was used to a narrower spout and because there is no lip around the edge you must make sure that the lid is closed properly or it will seep out when pouring and has no internal light to show how much water is in it. Other than that this kettle is neat and looks good but the cord is not overly long either so it must be kept reasonable close to the socket.I like it though and overall I would recommend it.

I like this kettle and was surprised how good it is considering the price.I knew it was plastic before purchasing it , I went to boil it a few time to get rid of the nasty taste from the new element but happily there was no horid taste from the first cup I had. (Boiled it 3 times)The kettle is comfortable to hold and has a nice even pour but as most kettles it's the base that lets it down. Sometimes I need to "touch" it for the kettle to sit in the base correctly and of course the cable is a bit to small but manageable.I timed it against my old kettle with 1ltr of water in each , this kettle boiled 10 seconds quicker but didn't boil as long as my old kettle.Over all I like this kettle especially at this price.I gave it 4/5

This kettle is really good, worth the price. It boils very quietly which I really appreciate, sometimes I even forgot that it was boiling. It takes about 4 minutes to boil with maximum capacity (1.7 litres) and 3 minutes with 1.2 litres of water in my case. The cord is a little on the short side but I have no problem with that as the plug is next to my counter. I like how the kettle is pretty light too and that it has a filter which is a plus. Overall, very satisfied with this kettle, the black colour is very sleek which I like, reminds me of Darth Vader's helmet hehe. Anyway, very pleased.

I bought to fit into my new kitchen which workmen are doing at moment. It has had a' baptism of fire' as I am continually making cuppas all day. I also have a smart meter and well impressed how much less electricity is uses per boil , plus boils faster than my old retired kettle! Recommend whole heartedly! Super efficient and very good looking too! Can't wait to have kitchen done and let the kettle take a breather! If this kettle can cope with these times and still look good then it will be a very tried, tested and beautiful addition to my new kitchen!

I bought this as a cheap replacement for my kettle and I'm absolutely made up with it.It's so quiet, I can boil the kettle when up late or early with the baby without making lots of noise, I had to check the kettle afew times to see if it was still boiling it's that quiet. Also the water is kept hot/warm for a long time making it ideal for my daughters bottles when she needs a feed as the water is perfect temperature even an hour after initially boiling.A must have for those wanting a quiet kettle and ease of bottle making ")

Not as quick or quiet as my last kettle, but quieter and quicker than some big name brands I've also owned. The filter is a nice touch - we have very hard water and my last kettle didn't have the filter and sometimes you'd get a bit of scale in your brew. Only downside to me is that it's difficult to see the water level - the light is coming from behind the kettle so it's not great - has never been an issue with my other kettles but this one I have to pick the kettle up to tell.

Brilliant kettle. Love the temperature buttons on the handle that tell you what temperature to use for which drink. Love the funky lid that has the folding scale filter integrated. Colour change is useful to tell when it's about to boil. Beeps at end of cycle, which is useful. All glass so no nasty flavours. Unlike my old kettle it has one press boil setting - my old kettle confused people so much. Only time will tell on reliability, but so far I'm ecstatic with my purchase.

This kettle is easy to clean and boils lovely! I almost returned this however because I thought the lead was too small until I realised that the lead wraps around underneath the kettle and extends so it can reach a high plug socket.Thank goodness because I loved this kettle the moment I took it out the box. I felt stupid when I saw the cable unwraps under the kettle after requesting to return it lol. Cancelled the return just now and I am very happy with it.Thank you!

Real bargain here folks! Our poor old kettle finally went kaput, so I explored the site for a suitable replacement, and actually wound up purchasing two kettles this time.I purchased this particular item as a "spare", but having tested it out, I have actually chosen to use this kettle as our "main" as it is much quieter in operation than the kettle I originally purchased to be our "main".Nice and simple to use - good capacity - excellent price.Recommended.

This is an efficient kettle but has one or two problems with it's design that if changed would make it even better. Firstly, it's very hard to see the water level as behind it is black so it's hard to see the water. The other problem I have with it is that it doesn't always go down on it's stand easily so it needs a bit of a wiggle at times. That said this is a really good bargain kettle which pours beautifully & is sleek & well designed.
