I never thought I would want to wax lyrical about a kettle. It just has to boil the water right?! But the fact is that after owning many different kettles of many different styles, tall thin, short fat, stainless steel, plastic, cordless, non cordless etc. I now realise that it is in fact an important item in the kitchen that has to fill a lot of criteria, boil the water, not be too noisy, easy to keep clean, easy to pour etc, and I have to admit it has to look nice. It's not an item you put away after use is it? It stays out all the time and therefore you want it to look o.k in your kitchen.I am very sick of trying to keep a stainless steel kettle looking clean, and equally sick of bad pourers and kettles that seem to drag the cordless base with them.So on to this kettle which I now call `The Jewel of the Kitchen `I have owned it for a month so I cant honestly say it has stood the test of time but so far it has been worth the extra money. It fits on the base perfectly, the lid fits to perfection, it looks fabulous with its faceted exterior and I have not had to wipe the outside at all thus far. It isn't the quietest kettle but it is also not the noisiest , ( you can still have a conversation when you are standing quite near it. ) It pours beautifully! Filling a hot water bottle is the test for this aspect and just for this reason alone it is worth the money, a wet hot water bottle cover is a very annoying thing and this is happily now a thing of the past.It is my favourite kitchen item. I am now saving up for the toaster. An update! May 2017. I have just bought another one, the old one still worked but had started to look less like a 'jewel' and cleaning it wasn't helping. So four years of kettle for 45 pounds . I am happy with that, you can buy a kettle from a well known supermarket for a fiver but you will probably buy three a year or a better one for twenty pounds and buy one a year. This one works out at just over eleven pounds a year. My 5 star review still applies.

While raising a family I have gone through a few kettles. I have tried many makes and designs but never spending more that around £25. All of them eventually dribbled from the spout and all of them were noisy, and became worse as time went on. Recently I went on a search for a new kettle as the one I was using was driving us insane..It sounded like a threshing machine and we had to mop the worktop after pouring into a cup. My search still had the spending sum of around £25 to £30 in mind but I ended up very impressed with the reviews on this kettle and of course it looks gorgeous. I decided to dig a bit deeper and buy it. We have only been using it a few weeks but we are glad we bought it.Its worth every penny. I sleep in the room above the kitchen and my husband used to boil his very early morning water for his cuppa in a saucepan because the kettle was so noisy. Now he can use the new kettle and I don't hear it at all. This kettle is definitely worth paying the extra money for and on top of all that, its a real eye catcher. People comment on it. Mindyou, De'Longhi is a good make. I have had a mini oven of theirs for many years and its still going strong.

This is the second DeLonghi Brilliant Kettle I have ordered. The first was 4 years ago, and its just given up the ghost, so if you want an average lifetime on this product its 4 years, which I think is quite good. Its a very good looking kettle and pours well. Not overly noisy whilst boiling either. I have de-scaled this regularly, as I live in a high scale area. It does not lose its colour over time, leastwise, not in the 4 years I have owned it. Infact, aside from the fact it doesn't work, the original still looks pretty good considering its had 4 years of use.The main body of the kettle is made of plastic so there is no paintwork to chip. I have used other metal based DeLonghi's in the past,(like the Icona I think its called), and within 6 months the paintwork has begun to chip, and they start looking tatty. I have not experienced this with the faceted kettles, they seem to look good for longer than the metal based ones. Slight colour loss on the chrome trims, which are again plastic, but nothingmuch. Aside from the fact it doesn't work, the old one still looks good.

This was one of the presents I gave my girlfriend for christmas, a kettle.See ours leaked and she coveted this thing the day she saw it. It's twice the price of a long list of decent kettles but it is purdy, incidentally when the harsh winter sunbeams hit it in the kitchen it reacts not unlike a disco ball, which is nice, I think. It boils quickly, like well, a 3 kilowatt kettle does. It holds a goodly amount of water but it does have two things that are a vast improvement over the kettles I've had and used. The spout is controlled, even when you're getting the last out of it - this is something you'd never care about, unless you have a whole bunch of stuff to measure out every day, which my dear daughter provides so efficiently with her formula consumption. The other improvement being the nice way the switch clicks up, it makes the normal thunk seem kind of trampy. So it is just a kettle, but it's pretty and seems to be made well, it makes my girlfriend happy and while it was stupid at its original price, I can live with £45 for a good kettle.

We, like probably most people have had many kettles and although it is just a device for boiling water, this De'Longhi Brillante looks fantastic, very modern and does the job nice and quick with not as much noise as all others we have had in the past. After searching various stores we found that you could buy this for up to £60 and would still be very happy with it, but we saw it on Amazon and had no hesitation in buying it. Delivery was quicker than stated and was packed reasonably well.It has a nice lid which you don't have to be the Hulk to remove and with the metal mesh filter, it will not perish as all other kettles with plastic of fibre filters tend to. Because of its shape, you have to tip it more than usual but with the nice sharp pouring spout you can easily control the flow of boiling water into your nice lovely cuppa. Our Verdict = 100% satisfied.

I was looking around for a kettle, and when i saw this one i fell in love with it, but i still looked around as it was a bit expensive, and i was waiting for it to go down in price, but it didn't and i could not find one that compared. i am glad i read all the reviews so to find out that it was plastic was not a shock. it really is a nice kettle, it looks attractive and what i like about it the most is that it pours like a tea pot. I like it so much that naturally i had to get the toaster too. it makes my kitchen look rich and expensive. but be warned do not fill it past the marker as it will boil over, it boils really quickly and it's quiet, and for the price i paid for it, i am hoping it lasts a life time,as De'Longhi is quality.

I've had this kettle for nearly three weeks now and I'm very pleased with it. There are much cheaper kettles of course (and dearer ones) but this for me, is value for money. It boils quickly having a 3kw element, it's very light, being plastic (don't let that put you off), and it looks good. The water gauge is an integral part of the casing so there are no joints to leak. It's very easy to clean having a high-gloss finish and there are no nooks and crannies to harbour dust and dirt. The lid has a nice weight and solid feel to it to and it engages with the kettle giving a good fit without any force. Overall this is an excellent kettle and I highly recommend it.

Good looking, modern with a hint of retro. Quality manufacture and finishing. Quick boil and the quietest kettle I have ever owned. Full 360 degree swivel base. The lid is a good fit and there is an indicator light on both sides of the kettle. The water level indicator is under the handle. The kettle pours slowly, so while this may be annoying, I haven't been splashed by boiling water, so a safety bonus! I was sceptiical, usually only buying at the low end of the market. A kettle only boils water and usually dies on me within 2 years. I had to be convinced this was worth paying for, all the reviews were 5* and no wonder. I am delighted with it.

i must admit i really ended up buying this kettle because of how it looked and not because of its features.i read many reviews about it on line and in Which? so i knew the down sides but it just goes so well in my kitchen i chose to ignore them.down sides are: the minimum boil amount is a cup but the minimum water level you can see is about 2 which isnt economical.it also pours very slowly which has taken a while to get used to. you literally have to tip the kettle upside down. it boils really quickly which is great but then you spend twice as long pouring a cuppa!overall i am happy with it! It's so prettty!!!!

Luuuurvvvve this kettle. It matches my toaster and I am so glad I bought the two together. They sit in my kitchen like a newly married couple still in their white tuxedo and floaty wedding gown . They look shiny and new and still in love long after other kettle/toaster pairings have lost the honeymoon feeling and have got bogged down by calcium furring and burnt crumbs. These two shine on like little love beacons urging you to have toast and tea at midnight after you've had not one but two Mojitos on your own ...you know you shouldn't do that !!! But that Brazilian Cahahahahahaha rum is just soooo nice !

I am really pleased with my White De'Longhi Brillante Faceted Jug Kettle, 3KW. The lid fits easily and snuggly and I am confident that it will not move or fall off when pouring hot water out. It boils quickly enough. It is light to hold when empty. It pours out slowly enough that it doesn't splash about all over. Another nice feature about it that I like is that when the sun shines through the window on the kettle, it throws out all faceted lights (like a crystal does)all over the kitchen. It looks fantastic and I bought it at a cheaper rate than the shops. I love this kettle and would recommend it.

Kettle is lightweight but looks heavy. It has a really nice stylish design which would be very at home in both the most modern and also retro kitchen. The element is enclosed so no need to worry about scale all over the element which is hard to clean like in some other kettles. The lid lifts off rather than being hinged so ensure it is firmly on the kettle before pouring hot water or you could have an accident. The water gage is placed by the handle which some people have complained is hard to see when they use it, but I find it fine. De'Longhi Brillante Faceted Jug Kettle KBJ 3001.BK, 3 KW - Black

Lovely kettle, quite different to any other I've seen. Very sleek and stylish. Boils well and isn't overly noisy. Very small spout for pouring and small fill hole but fits with the design. The filter can be removed and cleaned quite easily. One thing I would say.. when filling with water, it's quite hard to see how much you are putting in as the handle and your hand completely cover the water fill level on the outside so I always overfill a little just to be sure its not under the minimum line. Otherwise great buy, great price. I bought the toaster to match.

Bought this to replace another DeLonghi kettle which, sadly, was broken when it was knocked off the kitchen counter to the floor. Had it for years and ot worked faultlessly. This replacement is very stylish and super quick at boiling. Just wish I'd known how much of a cheaper feel it has. Old one was made completely of metal and had a robust feel to it. This one, being almost all plastic, just feels cheaper made, even though it wasn't that much cheaper. Kept it because it looks good but don't expect it to last as long as the one it replaced.

Love the design. I think this is what must be called a Marmite product in that either you love or hate the design. Personally I love it. It is best to fill by removing the lid rather than spout fill which can splash about a bit and it holds masses of water. The clear measure gauge is under the handle and very easy too read and fill to the required level. Switching on and off is easy with the quick flip lever under the handle and it is very easy to wipe clean to show of those facets. Loved it so much I ordered the matching 2 slice toaster.
