This Russell Hobbs Luna 3000W Cordless Quiet Boil Kettle (red) comes with a base which features integrated cord storage. The immediate impression is of a well made product. The kettle has a capacity of 1.7L which is towards the modest end of the scale at this price point and features a captive, hinged lid which is opened via a button on the handle - this system works well.Inside there's a concealed element and stepped water indicators for 1-3 cups plus a removable filter in the spout. There are also capacity gauges on both sides of the kettle so you can see how much water is inside from most orientations. Unfortunately, the gauges have no indicator balls so you have to be able to discern the waterline which is okay if your eyesight is normal to good, but less so for others. When the kettle is switched on the interior is lit up in blue which is clearly visible through the water gauges. The kettle is easy to fill through the lid, although, if like me you are keen on filling via the spout, the filter slows down the filling process a bit but it's still manageable. The boiling process is quick (as it should be given the 3000W element). This kettle is a bit quieter than most others I've used but when you get close to boiling it does make quite a bit of noise, enough to challenge a conversation but only for a short while.Other features of the kettle work well, the spout pours without dripping and the kettle is easy to put on and take off the base which features non-slip rubber feet. In addition, the kettle features boil-dry protection. If I had a gripe it's that the chrome plastic on/off switch seems a bit flimsy but it works perfectly. In summary, this is a generally well-finished kettle with modest capacity, it boils quickly and has a number of convenient features. I do, however, feel it is a bit expensive at its current price of circa £85 in red (some other colours seem cheaper).

I love the style of this kettle. It looks fetching with its red chrome polished effect on the body and shiny chrome base, lid and switches. It is easy to wipe clean to keep the limescale stains off it. It does boil quieter than my previous kettle and boils slightly faster. I only really notice the quieter boil when half filling or more, then it is clearly quiet. When filling for one or two cups, I don't notice much difference.I like that it comes as left and right-handed. Being a lefty it is very annoying when the water scale is only on the left side of the handle so I can't see the water scale when holding under the tap with my left hand. This is a definite plus.I love the plastic scale inside for marking the one,two and three cup filling points. I only boil for one cup at a time, so it is perfect to have the marker inside so I am not wasting electricity. Speaking of which, the kettle does seem to take ages to turn off once boiled, it seems to overboil too much, so I end up manually switching it off to save on the electricity. It says it is a concealed element, but I expected this to mean it was a flat-bottomed kettle with the element hidden underneath the bottom of the plate. This is not the case, though, as there is something in the bottom of the kettle that will likely get clogged up with limescale quite quickly in my hard water area.Apart from that, this is a great kettle that delivers on its promise of boiling quietly and looks fetching. Very happy with it.

I'm reviewing the Russell Hobbs 23210 Luna Red Quiet Boil Electric Kettle, Stainless Steel, 3000 W, 1.7 Litre. Here are my thoughts:I love the "Boil Dry Protection" as I'm often so busy I forget to check before I flick the switch down, thinking there's more water in the bottom than there actually is.I like the button on the handle, which flips open the lid with speed, and how there's a clear line to see how much water there is in the kettle. The Luna Red colour is also a nice addition to this smart looking design. It's surprisingly small to look at despite the 1.7L capacity. At first I thought that it wasn't going to be big enough, but as soon as I used it I realised it's absolutely fine.I think it was because the large (noisy) one I had before, which I couldn't wait to bin. This kettle is faster, with 3000w power coupled with the rapid boil feature that's also very quiet to use, makes this perfect for me.Very happy to recommend. I use this kettle constantly, and it shows no signs of getting noisier or slower, like my other one did. Pours well. Easy to fill. Has a nice blue light when it's switched on. To me, it's worth the money because of its quiet operation!

This is rather a good kettle, with an unusual design. The kettle has a decent capacity, at 1.7L and an ambidextrous design, with level markings on both sides. The jug is made from metal with a plastic-feeling coating over most of the walls. There are shiny metal accent sections, and the handle is made from plastic. The Luna Grey colour is smart looking with a dark grey brushed metal appearance. The shiny metal does show every smudge and fingerprint. The jug has a round base, but over the height of the jug the shape is adapted so that the sides square off, ending in a square lid.The kettle boils very quietly, and when switched on has a bright blue light inside the jug.The kettle has an environmentally-conscious design, aimed at encouraging users to only boil the quantity of water needed - inside the jug are three red plastic level markers making it easy to see the amount of water needed for 1, 2, or 3 mugs when you're filling the jug. This boils quickly, and the spout pours very nicely. Our old kettle had been spitting quite badly when pouring, so this is now waiting to be taken to the recycling centre!

I really like this kettle, it’s much quieter than my Morphy Richards filter jug kettle, which is also supposed to be ‘quiet boil’ but is far noisier than this one.The boiling ring inside this kettle is the key to the improved noise reduction, and it works well.Boiling time is fast, it doesn’t boil over when it’s filled to the maximum line, like another kettle I tried and sent back, and the side walls remain fairly cool when it’s in use, which is definitely safer than full stainless steel kettles, which although they look nice to start with, are hot to touch and show finger marks. So I actually prefer the smart, dark grey gloss painted effect of this kettle, and it’s also a lot lighter to hold and fill up,which is a big consideration if you struggle to hold heavy thing or have weak wrists and fingers. The handle is also very comfortable, and is a sensible shape which sits nicely in your hand. There is a bright blue glow through the frosted window to show that it’s switched on, and the on/off lever has a nice solid sounding ‘click’ to it when you turn it on.5 stars.

This is a very smart and elegant kettle, but I was more interested in its boast that it was a quiet kettle than in its looks. My present kettle, a de Longhi, is about four years old. It also looks good and boils water efficiently but it is terribly noisy, drowning out the wireless and any conversation in the vicinity. I staged a competition between the two and the Luna GQBEC won easily. I wasn’t surprised that it boiled the water slightly faster – it’s new and has no deposits on the element, but I was surprised that it was significantly quieter than my old kettle. It still makes some noise, but it doesn’t sound like a train.I also like the fact that• you press a button to open the lid and don’thave to struggle to pull it open• you can see how much water is in the kettle through a window and don’t have to guess from the weight or struggle to open the lid to look. All in all, it seems to be an efficient kettle that does what it claims and looks good. At £49 it is at the top end of mid-priced kettles but if it proves durable I think it is worth the price.

Having just finished decorating our kitchen we needed some Red 'electricals' and a kettle was at the top of the list.Firstly, this kettle looks very smart indeed, not only the colour but the design is ultra modern too. In use this kettle is much quieter than our old one and it was really fast too - and I mean really fast lot of people I have trusted Russell Hobbs for years and this doesn't disappoint. The lid opens by pressing a black button on the top of the handle, so you do not get burnt - for me this is a big plus. The stand is very slim and comes in chrome, thus adding to the design. Pouring is extremely good too, indeed perfect for when the kettle is full, half full or has just enough for a cuppa.By the way there is a window on the side so you know how much water is in there. The guarantee is for two years, but this can be extended to three years if you register it online!Incidentally, for the safety conscious, there is a boil dry cut out which will actually switch the kettle off and really does work.

What's in the box: kettle, base and flex, instructions.First impressions - I love the funky look of this kettle with it's matte metal exterior. It feels well made and the switch has a good positive feel to it.The kettle sits on a 360 degree swivel stand. The lid lifts on depression of a switch for filling. There is a filter to catch egregious bits of lime scale. The element is a flat metal plate at the base of the kettle. There is a useful red marker inside the kettle showing 1, 2 or 3 cups of volume. There is also a level indicator via a clear plastic strip down the side of the kettle. When switched on the switch comes alight with a blue LED, and the water in the kettle is similarly illuminated.Io practical purpose but it looks very good. The water boils at an acceptably quick speed. The element needs regular cleaning - we live in a very hard water area and after 3 weeks use if is already covered in scale. It is easy to clean however. All in all 5 stars. Looks good and works well.

Sometimes things are over engineered and the simpler solution is better. Here is a case in point: This kettle has replaced a German branded one that boasted a steel outer and different temperature settings as well as a maintain set temperature option. The German kettle turned out to be as much use as a Chocolate Teapot. This kettle by contrast: stays cleaner on the outside, is much quieter and importantly for hot water - when pouring, the water only comes out the spout in a stream that you know where it’s going, unlike the German predecessor which spat hot water out at you from all round the seal between the lid and the body.Boiling is quick and the internal markers to boil just one,two or three cups of water are used often and are accurate when combined with standard sized mugs.No competition - I’d buy this kettle again over any of the “ more advanced” ones anytime.

Read a lot of reviews and opted for this kettle in the end, was looking at the AEG one with the square base and different boiling temps along with the Bosch similar spec but neither got the great reviews this one did. For me, this is much noisier than or previous Philips kettle which lasted over 7 years and only just developed the common lid fault and it rocks near boil point, which I hadn't anticipated. Other than that I can't fault it, at 3 days in, it pours excellently and boils water, flavour is fine, reasonable for the price. It looks very nice, (still missing the Philips though), is lighter than the previous kettle... just makes a racket but from the other reviews that is just 'a thing'nowadays with most brands of kettle, shame really! Update:. Just noticed once it's boiled there is a small amount of steam coming out the on/off switch, which is concerning!

I love this kettle. It has an unusual design - it's almost square, and the metallic red finish is very pleasing to the eye. It is quite short but has a deceptively high capacity (1.7 litres to be exact). But what I am really loving is the extra quiet boil. I figured this was just a gimmick and didn't expect to notice any difference, but it really is far quieter than our old kettle. This makes a big difference as our downstairs is open plan and the sound of a boiling kettle in the kitchen can at the wrong time be very intrusive in the living room. On first glance I thought it was pretty expensive despite its virtues, but having had a look at various other kettles I was surprised to find that this is a pretty fair price for a brand name kettle.I am dead pleased with this acquisition and would highly recommend it.

Our last kettle sounded like a rocket preparing to launch mixed with all the windows in your house cracking. Not ideal when you work shifts and are using it at 5am and would like to leave the house without kids waking up and begging you not to go. So when that one was on the way out I researched a quiet one. Ta dah! This one came up. Ordered it and lo and behold it is indeed quiet! I wouldn’t say you can’t tell it’s on like others have said.....it’s quiet but not magic. However compared to our last one, this is amazing. It’s also really quick to boil, it doesn’t drip at all when you pour it and it also feels solid. So far, I’m still quite excited about our new kettle. It’s an embarrassing admission but as a nearly 40 something Mum, I have to get my kicks where I can. And this kettle is it for now.

We had a cheap supermarket brand kettle which lasted a number of years but started leaking recently.Replaced with this RH Luna Quiet Boil in a nice Red and very happy.Rinsed them out first 2 times to flush out any smells and there is no plasticky smell or anything anymore.Internals are stainless steel but there is a level indicator and the side indicator which are plastic (former can be removed but you cannot remove the side levels obviously). It boils fairly quickly and is slightly less noisier than our previous one but you would not notice any difference unless you went looking for it. A bit pricey for a kettle but paid more for the Red finish as we preferred it and hope it lasts! There is an extra year of warranty on registering the kettle (instructions in the box)- off to register it now!

Very attractive RH kettle, available in two metallic colours Red and grey. Features 3000W rapid boil element, is considerably quicker in boiling than my old kettle. The concealed element makes for easy cleaning and maintenance and less build up of limescale. An internal marker allows easy measure of 1,2 or 3 cups. A clear measure window allows for quick inspection of how much water is in the Kettle. The good 1.7 litre capacity ensures you dont need to keep filling it each time. The spot allows easy and accurate pouring of water. The boil dry safety protection makes sure that even if you try to run the kettle without any water the kettle will switch off.Overall functional well designed and rapidboiling kettle with a good water capacity.

Needed to replace a kettle where the water level window had shattered and was falling out. Wanted something on the quiet side and had read articles with suggestions of kettles that were much more expensive. Also looked at a cheaper model with reviews suggesting it developed problems fairly quickly. Decided on this one. Have used if for a couple of weeks now. Works well, is quite quick, good noise level and pours very nicely. Has quite a flat square looking top, so perhaps not the most aesthetic, and the 1, 2 or 3 cup level indicators in the kettle not so helpful for us as we deal in mugs rather than teacups. However a couple of days trial and you’ll sort out the amounts you require for regular use.Altogether very pleased.
