Bought this beautiful kettle after reading the -mostly- positive reviews here; keeping in mind the negative stories about rust and increasing noisiness. Our experience: after a vast period of daily use, we could indeed notice a slight brownish spot near the spout and hinge. We also noticed, the noise slowly increasing, so we were afraid we had bought -as we say here in the Netherlands: "a cat in the sack" (meaning a product with "hidden" faults). But lo and behold: all was well again after a thorough descaling session with the help of a cup of cleaning vinegar!*We've had to repeat the descaling twice now, over the past year. Others might need to do this more (or less) often, depending on the extent of use..*descaling: fill the kettle with one cup of water and let this boil. - Then disconnect the power, to prevent mistakes and add one full cup of cleaning vinegar to the hot water. - Let it rest for a few hours. - Add water to the maximum level, reconnect the power and let the mixture boil again.- Let the mixture cool down totally - Rinse thoroughlyAnd... your kettle will be as new again!! Did I mention, the kettle looks incredibly good too?

Purchased this kettle as my wife and myself were fed up having to shout or leave the room while boiling water for a cup of tea.On arrival we found it well packed and looking good especially whe filled with water the measuring viewers were on either side. After rinsing out we plugged it in and switched on, the first thing we noticed was a blue warning light telling us power was on, excellent, when it started to boil the ware we did notice a very low sound which lasted until the water was boiled and automatically switched off.The noise was very low and we could talk , lister to the radio/tv without having to make any adjustments for noise as, for all intents, there was none or very little, wish I had this year's ago.I have found only one thing that I personally think could have been better and that is the pouring spout, the angle is wrong and the water shoots out further than you would think, hot water has hit my hand twice, I am now wary of this and watch how I pour, this is the reason it only gets 4 stars. All in all, with the abo e notification, a good looking quiet Kettle that boils quick with very little noise, recommend.Read full review...

This kettle is by far the best I have had since the days of using a hob to heat a whistling kettle. It genuinely is really quiet and not noticeably longer in heating water than the quick-boil types. It seems well built and not too heavy for my wife to handle, but heavy enough to think that this is made to last longer than my recent quick-boils have done.Well done Russell Hobbs in manufactruing a kettle that doesn't deafen everyone in the kitchen and seems to be very efficient.I have used one sachet of descaler after about six weeks as advised, not because I thought it was getting noisier, however, it does seem even quieter.I reccomend this 100%

really pleased with this purchase. the best kettle I have had so far.- quiet boil- rapid boil- pours well, no drips or spills- easy open lid for filling- 360° as markings are on both sides- lights up at base, so you know it's on- small countertop footprint- nice, understated but quality modern look without looking like some kitsch space age gadgetThe only very slight niggle I have so far is that the brushed chrome exterior shows marks easily. I live in a very hard water area, and any water that splashes on exterior while filling leaves a very obvious water marks.I am hoping that this kettle lasts a long time, as I really like it.

The kettle is quiet! Did a side-by-side comparison with a standard stainless steel kettle and it really does reduce the noise level considerably. It boils quickly and as well as having water gauges on both sides (useful for left-handers like me) it has some petal-like levels within the water chamber to help with filling to the correct depth.Delighted with the kettle: my only surprise is that the blue led light does not illuminate the water chamber like some other kettles which would help show the depth on water on the gauges.I can now hold a normal, non-shouty, conversation while making a cuppa.

Great kettle . Easy to see when it is switched on with blue base lit up. A kettle that actually pours cleanly with no drips or water sloshing from the spout. It is quieter than other 3kw kettles I have had. I find it well balanced, light and easy to fill. I bought this to replace one I bought from a German discount shop which had all the bells and whistles but was absolutely useless and was returned for refund. I have had this kettle for a few weeks now and I would definitely recommend this it. I haven't found anything I don't like about it.

I had been looking for a quieter kettle to replace our old very noisy one which had broken and after a lot of searching I chose this one. It was cheaper than other websites - good point number 1! When I plugged it in I wasn't really expecting it to be as quiet as it was and actually had to lean down to hear if it was heating up. Thank goodness for the blue light showing it is in fact working. I am really pleased with this kettle. I've only had it for a week so I hope it lasts well but for now it's great.

Its such an excellent kettle! Its super quick, hot and it doesnt leak everywhere like my last one. My only blip with it would be how hot the exterior gets so if you have arthritis or problems where you cant hold things with one hand then youd have to use a cloth to steady it or pick another kettle as it wouldnt be for you. Other than that I love it and its the best kettle ive ever had. Also found no problems with the taste of the water, i boiled it a few times before use and its been fine.

Have purchased three of these kettles now but one returned. Its good looking and very effective but flawed in my opinion. The lid catch is prone to become inoperative leaving it open so if unattended water will boil away and burn out may result. Have noticed several other reviews online after the event sadly. Have also contacted Russell Hobbs who are aware of the flaw but simply said return it and get a new one. One of our last Russell Hobbs kettle lasted 14 years this one lasted three months!.

This kettle has a 1.7l capacity, so more than enough for our 2 person household. It's also quite good from an aesthetic perspective, being shorter and squatter than the previous unit I owned, with an attractive illuminated blue ring around the base when in operation too. The real selling points for me are the power and the boiling speed that it confers, with the added bonus that it's designed to be quiet. It lives up to this admirably and is significantly quieter than any other unit I've owned.

The kettle is very quiet, though I am reserving judgement as previous kettles I have owned have started out quiet then got progressively louder. It boils very fast and is a stylish addition to my worktop. I like the gizmo inside so that you can see exactly how much water to put in for just one cup. However, I did think this made the coffee and tea taste a little odd. I removed it and left it out 'airing' for a couple of weeks, before reinserting it and the weird taste has gone. Would recommend

This kettle is well designed: The water level windows on both sides allow it to be sited either way round and still see the water level. A button pops up the filling cap so no fighting a lid off or (the lazy way) through the spout. The 3 red stepped platforms inside also help getting the correct minimal amout of water. This is perfect to quickly boil just the right amount and 1 mug full in just under a minute it was quite a bit quicker then my old kettle. And quieter too. Blue light a bonus!

Having to replace my kettle was difficult as Argos has a varied choice. The brushed staneless steel has a lovely finish and easily shined up. Design is the nicest I've had, pours great without dripping, boils quickly, so quiet and an lovely blue light round kettle base when switched on is nice. You can boil as little as a cupful quickly. Was on offer which was a bonus, but you only get what you pay for, so was worth paying that little bit extra for a deluxe model. Would recommend this kettle.

The kettle itself is wireless. It comes with a stand that has a short cable. The kettle can be rotated to any direction on its charging stand. Kettle boils fast and is so quiet! Small button opens the lid and there are internal 1-2-3 cup gauges in addition to the exterior water filling indication. The blue light glows while the kettle is on. The kettle is very light and has a brushed steel exterior. Note that the matching Buckingham toaster is actually polished steel so doesn't actually match.

After our existing Russell Hobbs eventually bit the dust after many years of loyal service it was time to look for another kettle, as we were so pleased with our old kettle the first thing we did was to look for a replacement by the same manufacturer. We did our research checking out all the options available and decided to opt for this model.Boils quickly, quietly and we now have the addition of a cool blue LED light to show that's it's switched on and doing what it does best.Excellent!
