Pretty good basic kettle.'Cups' description of volume interprets into 'half a mug'. So the markers inside the kettle and on the window can be taken with a pinch of salt. As can the boiling times. However, it does boil in fair time and is relatively quiet; my folks have the stainless steel version which crackles and pops loudly whilst warming up. In comparison, this white model is much gentler on the ears.It doesn't switch off immediately on boiling but does within 5 seconds or so which is better than many other models. The flip top lid works fine for filling and the illuminated switch is functional. It is a very good pourer, too. And the handle is well positioned and easy to grip. The lead is 60cm long and can't be coiled underneath the base. The 2-tone styling isn't especially conspicuous but is quite subtle. The kettle is a squared-off conical shape and the two sides have a matt finish while the rest of the surface is shiny gloss. Perfectly acceptable.I've tried to capture the shape of the kettle in some snaps I've upped as you can't really see the lines in the product pics.

Like others, I spend an inordinate amount of time reading reviews for kettles, we seem to go through kettles a lot in this house around 6 in the last 7 years, son seems to break the flip switches, daughter the flip lids, they leak or the switch burns out. Decided to buy this one as the price was right and was fed up with our 9 month old kettle switching itself off part way through boiling. Was a little surprised at how small it was when I got it out of the box, however it likes a tardis and holds the same amount of water as our last kettle, it's lightweight, compact and easy to use. It's a nice shiny black so goes well in our kitchen, has a removeable water filter in the spout area, another plus in a very hard water area so no fir in tea or coffee, has a water gauge on both sides. It is a little noisy but boils very quickly so it's not too much of a problem. All in all, it's perfect for the job.

I was searching for a cheap basic kettle. It's surprising how difficult it is to find one. I looked at other manufacturers but I ended up buying a Russell Hobbs as I always do. It's compact, easy to clean, heats quickly and has a decent half metre cable. It is a brilliant pourer (truly brilliant!) and the on/off switch and lid release are conveniently located and secure. It's not a quiet kettle by any means and the water bubbles excitedly at full boil. The lid has popped open a couple of times when I've left it to boil for too long and my previous Russell Hobbs failed when the weld holding in the viewing window component split from the rest of the body due to me leaving it in sunlight for too long. But it's a beautiful product with a sleek design made from smart, shiny plastic and no-one would guess I only paid £16 for it. What's not to like?

Just bought this to replace my white RUSSELL Hobbs Breakfast Range kettle which after very hard use had begun to leak. I don’t like the look of this nearly as much as my old one. Indeed, if I’d been able to get the Breakfast kettle (which appears to have been discontinued) I’d have bought THAT model again because although the one I had wasn’t very long-lasting, I LOVED it’s appearsnance, it worked brilliantly and was inexpensive. This Textures model appears to WORK WELL but its lid doesn’t open very wide making it a bit less easy to fill, it’s squared off shape at the top is unattractive, and altogether it doesn’t have the pleasing curved shape of the Breakfast model although it is supposed to be the new updated version of that kettle.Think again RUSSELL Hobbs - this is a step backwards in terms of design!

Probably terrific value at £15 delivered. Contrary to a previous report these kettles don't leak but the pouring aperture is rather small so care must be taken NOT to tip the kettle beyond its ability to release water otherwise the contents WILL appear to leak. Don't overfill it. A tiny criticism is that the underside does not entirely level itself against the base which makes it wobble a little particularly when boiling. The information on Amazon suggests that it does not have an 'auto cut-off', ... but it does. The illuminated 'on' switch - orange - is a nice touch.

This is a very stylish kettle. I would normally not get very excited about such things as a kettle, but for me this really is a cut above. Two tone black, matt and gloss gives it real impact. It holds a great 1.7 litres, yet cleverly within the kettle body are 3 red marker tags, which enables anyone to boil 1,or up to 3 cups only - so saving energy, which appeals to me as I am often concerned that I may boil the kettle dry by not putting enough water in.Good long lead too.Well done Russell Hobbs - great kettle at a great prie.

The kettle boils quickly and is much quieter than my old one. It has a window on both sides and turns round on the stand so great for left and right handed people. Pours well with no spills or drips and has a nice flip up lid operated by pressing a button. It has a mat and gloss finish which is quite stylish and a nice big easy grip handle. The element is hidden in the bottom and the filter can be removed so easy to clean. It has red fill tabs inside for 1-3 cups but these are not very useful.

I love the colour and design, it looks good in my kitchen, it has a quick boil time for one cup (45 secs), is quiet and the 360 degree swivel on the base means it takes up a small amount of space. The lid lifts for you to fill the kettle but it is best to fill it slowly to prevent overspill. The kettle is light weight and the matt and silk effect of the black casing is easy to wipe clean. It comes with a 2 year guarantee. I’m pleased with this product and feel that it is good value for money.

Nice modern look. Boils quickly and not too noisy. I like the little step measurements inside to indicate how much water to boil for cups of water required. I suppose my only grips is the hinged lid. If you open the kettle when it has condensation on the inside of the lid(when it's warm), the condensation runs down the outside of the back of the kettle next to the switch mechanism.. But this may be a problem with any kettle with a hinged lid. On the whole though, I'm really pleased with it.

This kettle is shorter than most. The lid release button clicks positively and lid jumps open fully. On/off switch also clicks positively. Red marker inside the kettle helps you see water level from the top when the kettle is held low into the sink for filling directly from tap. Filter removal lever makes it easy to remove it for cleaning. Black markings on side water gauge are easy to read through condensation. Best of all, it is super fast. one cup of water boils in less than 60 seconds.

This is a lightweight stylish cordless kettle. The black version, has a two tone finish, partly gloss on the handle then over the top of the lid and down through the spout area. The sides are matt. The lid is a square shape which makes the kettle a little unusual. It has a see through water gauge on the side and a removable, washable filter. When the kettle is switched on the on/off switch glows orange. Inside there are markers for 1, 2 or 3 cups and it boils these rapidly. Good all round.

The Kettle is made of lightweight plastic which makes it easier to lift and fill .It boils very rapidly and in addition to the normal external cup indicator window it has 3 red internal “leaf shape” indicators showing 1/2/3 cup fills(see picture). It will boil a single cup of water in 45 seconds which helps keep your electricity bills low.One added bonus is that the normal 2 year guarantee can be extended to 3 years by registering online which makes it very good value for money

Bought this kettle as my mothers previous kettle stopped working only after 2 years, and she needed a lighter weight one as the other was metal and with a previous broken shoulder injury she struggled when the appliance had any small amount of water in. This Russell Hobbs kettle is little with a filter and being plastic (not great for the planet I know) it was a considerably lighter option. Boils fast, is silent and makes a lovely cuppa. Perfectly practical for her bedside table.

My original kettle has now gone to a relative whose own kettle broke, hence the purchase of a 2nd of this model. I always found the water if left in the kettle tasted odd, this applied also if I left the lid closed. I saw a review from another user to say he had a similar problem but found by removing the red plastic water level indicator inside solved the problem - and its true, remove the indicator and the water tastes fine. It is a bit noisy, but does that really matter?

Didn't realise the kettle was plastic when I bought it but at least it makes it light and easy to handle. Have often bought products from Russell Hobbs (though sadly they are not made in the UK now) and have found them pretty reliable. Water boils quickly and this is far less noisy than my old kettle The cup measures on the side are also clear and easy to see. For the price this seems a decent product though I'm not sure how long a plastic kettle is supposed to last.
