My dyson broke, to buy replacement parts would have cost £70 so I decided that since my dyson only lasted a year I’d try something else. I have never found the ideal hoover. I absolutely hate having to empty a bag less hoover. It doesn’t just fall out like on the adverts & it stresses me out having to poke & pull at awkward parts of the hoover if blocked. Miele always seem to get good reviews & I wished I’d have got one sooner instead of the dyson. This seemed a good price & I wanted something pretty quickly. Not easy during a worldwide lockdown but this arrived the day after I ordered it. I was praying my husband would be out so I could get it in & use it before he told me to send it back.Thankfully, I’d hoovered & put it away before he got home & it was the following day before he realised. If ever there was a near perfect hoover, I think this is as close as I’ll get....To considered when buying;A little weighty-I’m not bothered about this but it could be an issue for others. The it’s strong as heck mate, on the strongest setting, I can’t push & pull the hose, only pull. That isn’t a bad thing but not always easy to handle. No matter how much I love a hoover, the cord is always an issue. They do have a cordless variety of hoovers but it’s all about the price.Pros:Price-£149 is half the price of my dyson & far better spentThe tools are hidden in the hoover casingThere is a clear indicator showing the bags fullnessThere are various settings that you can change with your foot like the on off buttonThe wire has a comfort rewind that you press with your foot & even if the wire is under the hoover as soon as you move it, it winds itself back in without whipping violently & you don’t have to keep untwisting & messingThe settings are varied & even the 1st setting is strong enough. The strongest setting is like a vortex & god help anything in its way. I can’t push & pull it but I noticed a real difference in my carpets once I’d used the stronger setting, it was bringing up bits from the base of the pile that my dyson had simply not managed to pick up. I actually had to put my carpet back under the door plate as it had pulled it away.It works well on hard floors, mattress, especially well on my fabric sofas. It has a curtain setting, handy when you have window loving pets. The bags are easy & clean to change & there is no messing trying to pull the flap thing over to close it when removed, it does it itself. The hoover feels robust & well made. The front hides the utensils & then you lift the whole front to change the bag & filter etcThe hose & tubes are a good extendable size with plenty of reachAn update: the main part I have found is a massive bonus about this hoover is changing bags & filters is mess free. You lift out the bag & there is absolutely no mess Inside the hoover, the bag seals itself. The filters don’t seem to collect any awful mess around them & either making it all stress free.I have a toddler, cat, dog & worst than all of them put together-a husband. Who leaves a trail of destruction where ever he walks & this hoover manages the level of mess I need it for & then some.It doesn’t heat up when having lengthy hoover. You can use your foot & save your back bending to change settings &turning off etc. I found this particularly helpful.Up to now I’m really pleased with it, I’d Be hard pushed to go back to dyson or any other brand of vacuum. There are the price of bags to consider but I’d rather conceal the dust & dirt hoovered up, especially with animals, than have to empty it into a bin. It’s 4 starts from me. That’s 4 well deserved stars

I love the C3 Cat&Dog PowerLine SGEF3!Without a shadow of a doubt, this hoover is simply the best vacuum I have used for getting up stubborn cat and dog hair. The name very accurately portrays what the cleaner is good for!The machine has a very powerful suction with six suction levels and you only need to move the cleaner over an area once. There are three active dogs in our household that run around the whole of the downstairs, so I've put the machine through its paces. The Active AirClean filter, specially designed to help absorb pet related odours, seems to do exactly that, and very well might I add, having not noticed any lingering odours during or after hoovering. And there is a handy colour strip to let you know when to change the filter which helps you keep track of it.Effective pet care cleaning aside, if you had no pets whatsoever, this hoover would do more than a thorough job of cleaning your home; it copes admirably with both carpets and hard floors alike. It comes with two floor brushes. Although you could use either, I think the Turbobrush is best suited to carpets and the AirTeQ head is effective for all kinds of hard flooring. On full power the Turbohead brush spins exceedingly fast so the dirt is lifted up from the carpet. Sometime this slows it down, but that's because it's doing its job well! The sliding vent switch is there to reduce the suction pressure if necessary, which I found useful on rugs that may move or pull up. The AirTeQ head glides around on hard surfaces like it’s on wheels, drawing in dust, dirt and pet hairs with ease. The hoover itself feels solid and well made, and yet is compact and lightweight to move about. It wasn't a problem when it came to lifting/carrying it about or when it came to cleaning stairs. The hoover sat firmly on the stairs and I used the Turbohead and crevice tool effectively to do the edges. The clever ergonomic design of the machine makes it very easy to use. The '+' and '-' foot controls save you repeatedly bending down, which for me is a huge plus point. The on-board accessories (upholstery nozzle, dusting brush and crevice tool) are immediate to hand, stored in an accessible compartment on the top of the machine. The electronic controls are clear and easy to follow. I particularly like (and use a lot) the 'energy-saving' setting, symbolised by an 'ear'. Also the 'boost' function comes into its own when you need to increase the power in short bursts to clean up a particularly soiled area. And both these nice design features can be operated via the foot controls, again taking the strain out of bending. The 11m cleaning radius is ample and the cord retracts well and cleanly at the end of use. I didn't need to bend up and down to coil it in, something that has always niggled me in the past!So all in all, this is a GOOD VALUE and VERY EFFECTIVE bagged cylinder hoover on ALL surfaces, and especially good at tackling those stubborn pet hairs and doggy smells. I would unreservedly recommend it to others with pets and without. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Men are probably not the main users of vacuum cleaners, but when we do commit it’s nice to have a quality built, nice looking and good feeling machine that does the job it's supposed to do. The Miele C3 cat & dog powerline has the reputation of being the par excellence vacuum for fur shedding pets (and long coiffured women for that matter!). I’ve been ‘road testing’ this product for the past 3 weeks and not really being an enthusiastic vacuumist (previously owned 3 other models over 20 years), my first, second and third impressions are surprisingly positive. ProsSleek and curvy looking. Nicely coloured (mine a red burgundy) cylinder body.Solid and well built ‘quality material’ feel with snappy and easy inter-changing of tools and wand length adjustment.Agile in driving around with body bumpers for collision control, preventing scratches to the cleaner and damage to the furniture/paintwork. Surprisingly a ‘light weight’ which is appreciated when having to carry it upstairs. Always a big complaint from the wife which is now sorted!Not overly noisy in its various power suction modes. The dogs don’t seem to mind it too much.Noticeable lack of malodorous fumes coming out of the exhaust manifold.Easy ‘dustless’ exchanging and throwing away of the dirt bag. (A previously owned bagless model invariably exposed you to clouds of dust when emptying.)Good range of easy interlocking tools, although I seemed to stick to the turbohead brush for almost everything.Generously long lead which lessens having to annoyingly switch power sockets and a ‘fun’ one touch smooth automatic lead recoil action.Lastly and probably the most important, seems to do ‘what it says on the tin’. Invariably picking up everything in its wake and impressively getting rid of the hairs from the dog’s rug and blanket. Although taking care to reduce the suction level to avoid swallowing the whole thing!ConsSo far not many, but my one little gripe (a function of its efficiency!) is having to disentangle the long human hairs wrapped around the turbohead brush. Possibly not needed to do every time after usage but probably when you replace a dust bag would seem a good idea.Replacement bags and filter (not too sure how long the filter will last but has an indicator on it to tell you when to replace) are an extra cost but has to be weighed up against the efficient odourless and dust free vacuuming operation.The initial list price (relative when compared to other brand leaders). The expression ‘you get what you pay for’ comes to mind. The build quality would seemingly give it longevity to make it cost-effective. Somehow I don’t think I’m going to mind finding out how long this is going to be. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

In the past, our two loveable fluff producing kittens have been very anti cleaning. The moment the vacuum appeared was the moment they hurtled in the opposite direction, shedding more fur as they went and would then refuse to come down from the nearest bookshelf. The Miele Complete C3 Cat & Dog Power Line has finally put a stop to these issues! The Miele tackles a range of flooring seamlessly; hardwood floors, woven carpets and thick rugs are all cleaned with ease. We are especially impressed with the light touch buttons which deftly change suction power. This has given us added confidence with regard cleaning more delicate items in the house such as curtains and upholstery. The ability to quickly switch power settings allows you to work with the machine as opposed to fight against it.The compact design allows for easy storage when not in use. There are docking slots either side of the unit which hold the two cleaning heads on both sides, so that it can be moved as one when changing rooms. The nozzles in the front compartment are neatly packed, ensuring a snug and tidy fit. The attention to detail with regard to the ergonomics of this vacuum feel very high end and the level of thought that has gone into the overall design ensure that this is a joy to use. For its cleaning ability and suction power the vacuum is incredibly lightweight and it can whip around the house with the dexterity of a ballerina! As a long term bad back sufferer I am especially impressed with how easy it is to manoeuvre when both using and carrying. The length of the handle ensures that I do not need to bend down and the light touch buttons can be controlled by feet very easily. The length of the power lead has allowed access to all areas using only one plug point on each floor level. Vacuuming the stairs is also done with ease, the telescopic hose quickly retracts to a manageable height allowing for one handed stair cleaning while the device can either be held or rested on a step. The Miele has calmly dealt with any household dirt that it has met in its path and it has impressively restored the weft of a number of rugs. We can now sit on the sofa or carpet with confidence, knowing that we will not be covered in fur! This vacuum is very well suited to a household of fluff shedding animals. The motorised cleaning head has attacked any areas covered in fur and it does so with such a quite approach we no longer have stressful moments every time we need to clean. Cat owners will also appreciate that our kittens really loved the box it arrived in as well! The Miele Complete C3 Cat & Dog Power Line is an amazing vacuum; the whole household are incredibly happy with the purchase. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Bought my first Miele vacuum cleaner to replace an aging Vax bagless model that had bits dropping off it whenever used.I debated which one to go for, having spent ages reading various web and YouTube reviews plus Amazon customer reviews on my shortlisted items (another Vax bagless cylinder [because it was cheap and I already know the brand], a Henry for legendary reliability plus the Miele range for their quality reputation). The thing that I wanted most is bagged vs bagless so the Vax was out of the window, so was the Henry as suction wasn't variable). Didn't want to spend a million pounds on a Dyson (been there twice in the past, and build quality wasn't all that). So,Miel it was - choosing a C3 rather than my first choice of a C2 because somhow the C3 was cheaper (?).Either way having unboxed it, set it up, and trialled it - I have to say that it lives up to the German engineering reputation in that it all feels very (and I mean "very*) well put together! The C3 model I went with is surprisingly lighter than it looks, not heavy but not light either - very manageable for someone with an 'iffy back like mine. The auction can be varied (as is the case on most if not all other models) and whilst the highest setting is pretty strong it doesn't start to pull up the floorboards like my old Vax did (it has a comparable power rating to this), which I'm thankful for as it used to make vacuuming difficult (I assume some power is lost because of draw of air through the bag). The metal thing the floor attachment and vacuum hose is connected to extends very far, which is another bonus as you won't be forever bending down when vacuuming.Whilest the vacuum pipe itself isn't that long compared to my old Vax one (which was exceptionally stretchy and allowed me to leave it at the foot of the stairs and vacuum almost to the top) it does seem to be a standard size. Anyway, having to move my Miel into middle of the stairs to clean the rest, and then (naturally) move it to the landing for upstairs is OK given that the cable length is such that I can continue to vacuum all upstairs three rooms of my semi detached house without having to unplug it from downstairs and plug it in upstairs!!Noise levels whilst vacuuming even on the highest setting is much more tolerable than my old Vax, so great news there also.No real issues at all, and I expect years of service - really wished I had bought one a long time ago!

My initial impression when opening the box was slight disappointment as what appeared to be just another standard vacuum cleaner with limited accessories coming as standard. There were two brush heads included along with a (good length) hose and extendable metal tube. Setting up was very straightforward and I was able to start using the device within minutes, starting with the 'Turbobrush' head. This attachment worked really well on carpets, and combined with the fully adjustable power settings (there's six levels to choose from) cleaning our hall, lounge and dining room was quick and simple, especially as it comes with a good length power cord and wheels that allow the vacuum to be moved with ease.Going onto the kitchen, I found that the Turbo brush wasn't ideal for our hard floor and so switched to the 'Allteq' head which seems better suited to this type of surface. Again there were no issues, with the head able to pick up right into the corners and against the skirting boards. The next test was the stairs, here I switched back to the turbo brush which as before worked really well even though the carpet here is a short pile. Getting into the corners was a little more difficult as the Turbobrush head is quite large, so I was pleasantly surprised to discover a set of attachments which are stowed away within the body of the vacuum (I should have read the instructions which would have told me this before starting!). The attachments are the standard smaller tools you would expect to have, but with the added advantage of being stored on the unit for easy access. With the new attachment fitted, cleaning the corners of each step was a breeze, with the long hose enabling me to reach half way up before moving the unit to the top floor to work downwards to complete the job. In carrying upstairs it reminded me that this isn't the lightest of units (I'd guess average for its size), however you tend to forget this when using as the wheels allow it to glide across both carpets and hard floors with little resistance. On saying this when you do need to carry, the front mounted handle certainly helps especially when moving between levels.Overall I've been very impressed with the unit so far, which has good suction power that can be adjusted as required, and a reasonable set of accessories supplied as standard. We are the proud owners of two Labrador dogs / a cat and an African grey parrot so this complete C3 cat and dog powerline vacuum cleaner needed to perform at an extremely high level to pick up all the different pet hairs and parrot dust/dander and cut out those pet smells needless to say it didFirst assembling of the hose and attachments was easy every component gave a positive click the stainless steel telescopic tube was a dream to use with several different height adjustments which click securely into position which I really appreciated being 6’4” tall, it comes as standard with the turbo headed brush (great for pet hairs as per the attached photos)a normal Wide head floor tool, crevice tool, soft hair tool, upholstery tool and the dust bag is already fitted in place. When reading the instructions a top tip is to use a highlighter pen on the relevant paragraphs pertaining to this model as the instructions covers a few different model variants this will save you time when referencing any information Also it’s a great time to ring up and register your vacuum cleaner with Miele to receive your two year guarantee. We set about Vacuuming The living room we were both pleasantly surprised with the powerful suction which is operated by the plus and minus buttons on the machine a light indicates the type of surface very easy to understand and use enabling a great cleaning action This is also where the softheaded brush attachment came into its own as our parrot lives in this room and there is always a fine layer of dust on the sideboard/speakers/pictures and photos this saved us so much time, The living room is 23 foot long and the mains lead had no problem at all covering this area with plenty to spare also the retractable mains plug which is operated by a foot button Worked effortlessly from any angle. The vacuum also has a non-mark bumper strip all around it which protects marking any tables chairs and speakers while vacuuming The built-in active airclean filter cuts out the dust and Pet smells which is an excellent feature we also found the park system sliding the floorhead suction tube in a groove at the rear very helpful when your called away or taking a break. We both highly recommend this model as it is well-made with great features [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Incorporating a really tidy design, the Miele Complete C3 PowerLine vacuum cleaner not only looks good but is compact, easy to store and is a highly portable piece of kit, whether being carried in hand, or trailed during operation. In terms of functionality, the cleaner is lightweight and very manoeuvrable - due to the quality of the base wheels that make operating the unit in small or difficult to reach areas, such as stairs, much easier than with other bigger, much heavier vacuum cleaner models. Versatility is further enhanced by two clever design features – firstly, the length of the retractable power cord, which far exceeds any other vacuum cleaner that we’ve either owned, or used, and secondly, the telescopic tube attachment, which we've found gives you much greater leverage when cleaning those higher level, difficult to reach areas. In terms of performance, Miele have incorporated a really powerful variable speed motor within this cleaner - giving you the ability to clean a range of different surfaces, including curtains, upholstery, hard floor surfaces and carpets. By using the buttons situated on the body of the unit in combination with the toggle switch found on the articulated cleaning head, it is easy to set the machine to the appropriate cleaning mode for your household surfaces. Thus far, the machine has performed really well in our house, which has a combination of carpets and wood flooring. Due to the power of the motor and the quality of the articulated cleaning head supplied, the machine has easily coped with all surfaces. Miele offer three additional fixed cleaning heads with this machine and get absolute top marks for practicality here, as they have also designed a concealed compartment into the main body of the unit, meaning that the these alternate heads can be easily stored with the machine at all times. Overall, the Complete C3 PowerLine cleaner has proved a good acquisition for us thus far, with the only real criticism being that Miele did not supply a spare dust bag with the machine. But...with easy to use controls and a powerful variable speed motor, the cleaner has proven to be capable, practical and versatile, and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending it to others. We have just replaced our old Miele Cat&Dog model with this new one, and I have to say it is better in several ways. One significant improvement is that it has a longer mains lead, so we can now vacuum the whole length of our upstairs corridor without having to move the plug from one socket to another.Another feature I like is the set of discrete power settings rather than the old continuously variable power. It is easy to associate a particular icon with a specific task and push a button a couple of times to get to the right one. It was a bit more hit and miss with the control knob on the old model as you had to remember the position to use - or simply judge the power level by how much sound the machine made. The main suction tube feels more solid, too. And the overall design is pleasingly modern looking.Other than that, most aspects of the machine are pretty familiar. Cleaning ability is excellent. We have a mixture of wooden, tiled and carpeted floors and it performs extremely well on all of them. You do have to turn the power down somewhat on rugs that can otherwise move about, but that would be the case on any vacuum cleaner that has a lot of suction on full power, and as mentioned above, you just select the correct setting. One aspect I am a little concerned about is that when I first opened the body of the machine to access the bag and filters, the top part that hinges up did not seem to open far enough. A bit of waggling got it to open fully, but then when I tried to close it, it seemed to get a little stuck and the same point as when I was opening it. Again, a bit of waggling did the trick, but I was worried about forcing the mechanism and I'm wondering how robust it is. Time will tell - perhaps there is a knack that I'll get more used to in time. One other thing is that we do find that we have to cut the turbo brush free of hair fairly frequently. I am sure this is only to be expected - indeed the need to do it is mentioned in the user guide - and it was the same with our previous model, but a "magic" design to eliminate this job would be fantastic!Overall, this is a great vacuum cleaner, not just for those who have hairy pets! Obviously Miele is a very well respected brand and is definitely value for money despite a higher initial cost, this is my first bagged vacuum I've only ever used bagless and preferably Dyson so this is a new one for me but I think it's a keeper for the deep cleaning. On assembly I noticed how light and easy to manoeuvre the unit is in comparison to bagless vacuums I've tried, it's designed so it doesn't bump and damage everything when being pulled about and this can be carried around with ease with my fingers and set on its bottom to make it easier to do the stairs or for even more compact storage- these are big bonus points. The onboard digital display is regarding the strength of suction (plus warning lights if necessary)ranging from very gentle for curtains to 'suck a golf ball through a hose pipe' strength for wooden floors with preset degrees of variation in between including different styles of carpet and a 'quiet' mode. I quite like the 4th setting suitable for thick carpets for mine but use the crevice tool on full suction for skirting boards and around the fiddly fittings of my stairgates which was frankly AMAZING!The extra fittings (crevice, brushy Multicool and mini turbo brush) are neatly tucked away in a compartment on board which is brilliant, other vacuums we've tried out don't have on board storage and if they do its clip on the outside, this is neater And much easier. The downside is it's not bagless which means continual purchase of bags and there's little difference now in suction power between bagged and bagless which is a shame BUT there is an advantage if you have allergies as they kick out less dust when you empty them as they auto seal. But if they are selling it on this point why not bundle every bagged with a HEPA filter instead of the 'allergy' special . Of course there's th environmental impact of such bagged disposals to consider too. It's a shame that Miele didn't go bagless as this would've been a great contender against my aging Dyson for regular use. As such this will be used semi regularly for deep treatments mostly because of the expense of bags but that doesn't detract from it being a brilliant vacuum cleaner.

I found this vacuum cleaner to be of a compact size but very powerful. It’s really easy to use, and apart from putting together the hoses it could be used straight out of the box, even the dust bag was fitted! Due to its efficiency in cleaning vacuuming itself takes much less time as you’re not continually going over the same area time and time again to pick up particles. This vacuum collects the dust the first or second time you go over the floor/carpet.The cable was of a good length and so vacuum itself was easy to move around... and I didn’t have to unplug it to use on the stairs. I found it to be much lighter than other similarly sized models. The best part is the fact that this is truly amazing at what it picks up.We have two cats that are moulting at the moment but the carpets were left looking like new with the carpet pile rejuvenated in no time. Quiet and lots of suction that may be varied at the touch of a button. I could not actually use the vacuum at its two highest settings, as the suction was just too strong on the carpets for me to vacuum comfortably. On our wooden floors it was much less apparent but nonetheless excellent at picking up all the cat hairs and dust. Another feature I really found useful was the simplicity with which you can adjust the cleaning head with the foot controls, from carpet to wooden floors as our house has rugs, carpet and wooden floors and the minimum of effort was required to adjust the brush head. The vacuum cleaner is very sturdy - the hose, attachments all excellent quality as you would expect from a Miele. The only negatives I can find are that the disposable bags are fairly expensive but on the plus side they are very easily removed without any dust escaping. The second thing is that the vacuum cleaner itself seems to attract a lot of dust and pet hair to itself. It must be creating some type of static, as the same is true of the brush head attachment. These are very minor negatives on what is a superb and efficient cleaner that look very neat too. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Having owned an older model S5261 Miele Cat & Dog vacuum cleaner, I was pleasantly surprised to find the Complete C3 Cat & Dog model SGEF3 is much lighter and more energy efficient than my previous model, without compromising the performance.Attaching the suction hose and the telescopic handle which can be easily adjusted to suit the height of the user was straight forward after reading the operating instruction booklet. The suction power selector buttons with illuminated symbols are an improvement on the suction power selector dial of my previous model. However, the automatic cable rewind and the power on/off foot switches are located just below the -/+ suction power buttons, these switches protrude for ease of use but are quite sensitive to touch especially the automatic cable rewind foot switch, these controls can be accidently operated due to their height. Also, the rewind of the power cable can be quite fierce. The Complete C3 Cat & Dog vacuum cleaner is supplied with the Allteq adjustable floorhead and a Turbobrush floorhead. I found the Allteq floorhead difficult to use on my carpets but ideal for my tiled flooring with the brushes protruding. The Turbobrush floorhead gave excellent results on all my carpets and rugs including my stairs. The swivel castors makes for easy manoeuvrability of the vacuum cleaner. The three small tools supplied are neatly housed within their own compartment on the front of the cleaner and easily accessible. I found the upholstery nozzle worked well on my curtains and blinds, the dusting brush was ideal on my skirting boards and I used the crevice nozzle around the edges of my carpets and upholstery. The Miele dustbag supplied completely retains the dust and is much stronger than average vacuum cleaner bags. The Park System for storage on both sides of the vacuum cleaner allows for easy storage of both floorheads when the cleaner is not in use.The Tayberry Red Complete C3 Cat & Dog Vacuum cleaner looks smart and gives excellent results. The C3 replaced an aging but still functional Miele S507 cylinder vacuum cleaner.Easy to assemble out of the box with clear instructions also showing the different features of the machine. Our property has a mix of hard and carpeted flooring so it was interesting to see how the Turbo brush worked, compared to the previous vacuum. On hard flooring the turbo brush is very effective at picking up debris and it has a light action pushing it around the floor, making it easy to get into the gaps between the furniture. The vacuum itself is lighter than the S507, about a kilo lighter, making it easier to carry up the stairs and also use on the stair carpet where it needs to be held whilst vacuuming. The standard vacuum head is great on carpeted floors, both short pile carpets and longer pile loose rugs. On the longer pile rugs it’s particularly effective in drawing dirt out from the bottom of the pile and leaves the rugs looking new. It’s also effective on door mats which get a hammering with muck and dirt being walked in from outside - we have chickens, so there is quite a bit of muck and dirt!Although the vacuum has multiple power settings, we only tend to use the carpet and hard floor settings, as these suit what we are vacuuming, the vacuum is quiet in operation. The vacuum comes with a good set of tools for more detailed cleaning, the crevice tool is pretty good for cleaning those hard to reach areas in my car between the seats and centre console and the upholstery tool makes short work of vacuuming the seats, having two children means the car needs cleaning quite regularly. On that note, the C3 also has a longer power cord and hose compared to the S507, so this gives better use as you don’t have to move the vacuum around so much when using it outside.Overall, I’m pretty impressed with the C3, some of the new features are a definite improvement over the previous machine we owned and we hope it lasts as long! The only areas where my old Miele S512 failed (after nearly 18 years!), were the connectors at the top of the hoover rod which eventually lost their bite/ springiness and the lid to the attachments section which eventually broke off. These have both been beefed up/ improved on my new Complete C3. Other improvements include:- no need to guess which way the attachments go in, the narrow attachment for small spaces goes in either way and the brush just goes in when it has been straightened out rather than having to guess which way to fold it to fit it into the slot.- all controls are foot operable, so no bending down required.- the retractable cord is extremely powerful and there's no need to 'pull it out a bit'to get the last bit in.- the best feature is possibly the retractable hoover rod which completely retracts into itself, saving valuable cupboard space.- the hoover itself feels sturdy but light, so carrying it around the house isn't really a chore.- the hoover usefully has a quiet mode which still offers more than enough suction at a lower operating noise.- I was worried that the new regulations as far as power usage would mean new hoovers wouldn't be as good as my higher wattage consuming older model. The suction on this is actually much better though - I'm using the vent on the hoover rod to reduce the suction a bit, especially on deeper pile carpets.- In terms of design I might have made the main on/off / cord retract buttons a little bit larger (they were roughly twice a deep on my old machine), as they're slightly raised up this probably doesn't really matter though. This definitely feels as if it will last as long as my old one, my only regret - I think I should have ordered it in Miele's brilliant and slightly kitsch 'mustard' colour like my old S512. I have had this machine for a fortnight and can truthfully say it has revolutionised my household cleaning routines. The first thing you notice is the colour, it is very pleasantly finished in maroon and dark grey. The next is the clever way space has been utilised for various attachments inside the body. Another part of the body opens to reveal filters and bag. I find the "suction release" button on the handle very useful as this machine is very powerful, when you have max suction set it is actually easy to get stuck when on thick pile carpets. A cautionary note here, it is important to read all of the user guide before you operate this machine, there are odd little pieces to remove or to set up before you start using the machine for the first time. Using the machine itself is very easy, it follows you like a small dog and there is plenty of reach in the suction hose, I especially like the easy extending suction tube, to reach the tops of curtains or picture rails. All of the controls are on the top of the unit and may be operated with your foot, the selector for suction power, the plus & minus signs, move you through a variety of settings, and your chosen setting illuminates. The main power switch is also on top of the unit together with a really useful button which rewinds the power cord, one touch on the button and the power cord retracts. There are two suction heads one of which has a rotating brush and is useful for pet hair and the other has two settings, one for hard floors and on for carpets, there are as well the usual attachments for crevices and soft furnishings. I think that sums up my thoughts about this machine, it has been very carefully and cleverly thought out, it performs well and I expect to have many years of service from it.
