I was excited to have the opportunity to review this as I have owned a Miele vacuum before and was very impressed. I've been using it for a few days now and I am very pleased with it.Positives:- Length of cable is very good and means that I am not having to frequently plug and unplug it. The length of the metal part of the hose is also very good for me at 5 ft 9 inches as I don't have to lean down whilst I'm using this in order to gain purchase. It is telescopic, so that is useful if you are shorter.- Another good design feature is that the top of the machine contains the small tools (crevice, duster and fabric), so they are always close at hand and also won't get lost. This compartment opens easily with a click of a button. The dust bag is contained below the hose entry point and is also easy to access. There is a light that lets you know when the bag is full.- Also useful, the machine has three slots in it that will hold the larger floor tools - two at the sides for upright storage and one on the rear so you can rest it there whilst you are using the machine.- The machine is very neat - quite small in fact and very easy to store because of this - I was surprised at how compact it is. It is light enough for me to carry upstairs easily and I have several slipped discs!- Suction is amazing of course - there are 6 settings on the dial, and these range from fairly gentle (for curtains etc), to so powerful it lifts the carpet. On this setting it is helpful to use the vent on the handle so that you can easily move the vacuum head around.- The SID head is designed for occasional use on carpets and in particular for wooden floors I think, where there are deep crevices to deal with. I have found it effective.Negatives:- No power tool for the stairs or pet hair included.- It is, of course, not bagless, so if you are not a fan of emptying a hoover bag then you might find that annoying. It is also not cordless, which means that it is more effort to use than a cordless.Summary:The price will represent quite an investment for a lot of people I think (although the other colour is much cheaper, so the price I'm seeing may not be correct), but i have tried many, many vacuums over the years and I can say with hand on heart that you get what you pay for and with Miele, I don't feel I am paying a premium for the brand name. The quality of the materials and construction on this machine put most other brands in the shade. It will last for many years I suspect. The suction is second to none. I believe this stands up very well to my corded Dyson (which died some years ago) and it has the advantage of not running out of battery - making it better than the hand held machines for doing the whole house in one go.If this is within your price range, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Miele always has great vacuum cleaners, the suction is great and the build is top quality. This machine comes with two floor heads and three accessories which are stored inside the casing. The lead is 10m long to save you from having to change sockets all the time. The metal rod is extendable so you can hold the floor head at the correct height for you.Compared to another higher end Miele vacuum cleaner that I have, the accessories are slightly smaller and there is less space to store them in the casing (for example, the round brush head accessory has to be stored twisted around into a 90 degree angle). Also, instead of push buttons controlling the suction there is a dial on this model, which is not a big problem really except that you have to bend over to use your hands to alter the suction rather than tapping with your feet. Also, the metal rod is narrower, and the cable rewind button is not automatic (you have to keep your foot on the button to rewind the cable). None of these make a huge difference, they just affect the ease of use slightly, there is absolutely no effect on the suction power of the machine. The only thing that really differentiates between this slightly cheaper model and the higher end Miele that I have is the floor head - my other one has a rotating brush head, which makes a massive difference to me as both my daughter and I have long hair so there's always loads of hair to vacuum. (This would also be important if you have pets that shed hairs).I do have to say that I wish Miele would provide more information on the different floor heads and what they're used for. This vacuum cleaner comes with two different floor heads, one of which is the Alteq - this is a dual-purpose head with a button to change the function from hard floor to carpet. The other head I cannot find any information on, despite searching online, as it does not have a name - I can only assume that it's for hard floors, but I'm not entirely sure.

I had the pleasure of trialing this machine over a short period of time whilst staying in a holiday let. Heres my feedback..The Postives:Excellent at creating a strong suction - fantastic for pet hair, especially the type that takes a number of to and fros with the vacuum usually.I don't mind the bagged vacuums too much, especially because Miele are so good at what they do. Compatible bags can be bought in bulk too, which lessens the burden of expensive accessories. We do own a number of Miele appliances, and have always found their customer support very helpful. The engineers they send out are quick and knowledgeable, should you ever need them. The Negatives:Heavy to transport up and downstairs.I had a second machine upstairs which really helped.Especially useful that you know this if you're planning to buy this for an elderly person or if you struggle lifting weights as I did when I fractured my leg.Overall I recommend this machine in this category above some other well known brands as the service is reliable, the machine is built to last and with quality parts. It feels and looks expensive but with a side of some heavy lifting, occasionally. We have been told that our Miele washer dryer is one of the heaviest too! But it's been our solid workhorse for donkeys years and still shows no signs of giving up it's ghost.

I’ve had the pleasure of owning a few Miele products before but this is the first vacuum from this manufacturer that I’ve used. I’m totally impressed. This vacuum looks sleek - all the tools can be stored on board (and they do fit and stay put unlike other vacuums I have tried). The unit is light weight, manoeuvrable and robust.I’ve tried on tiles, rugs and new carpets (which are still shedding) - this vacuum has glided over them all without too much effort from me. All surfaces have been cleaned well.I thought I was going to find using a vacuum with a dust bag a backward step however the last bagless vacuum I had was such a hassle to empty this was actually not an issue and replacement bags arevery cheap on Amazon.Very impressed - 5 stars awarded from me.

Firstly, this was replacement for my previously owned Miele vacuum cleaner. I stupidly used cheaper, ill-fitting bags on the same machine (the bag came off the seating) and debris damaged the motor beyond repair. My fault! However, I liked the old Miele so much that I simply replaced it with more or less the same, but changed from black to grey model. I didn't use it a lot (single occupancy, few carpeted areas, no kids/pets, etc), but it was a very good machine, with great suction and collection of brushes and nozzles. Flexible between upholstery, wooden floors, rugs and carpets. Compact, and stores easily. No fuss. I recommend, and would buy it again if needed. My parents have one too!

With traditional vacuum cleaners it's all about the suction power, and the Miele has heaps of it. I used it on carpet, tile and parquet and it performed extremely well on all three. The long lead is most welcome, as is the design that allows the unit to store all the accessories. Recently I've been using bagless cleaners, but this was quite a pleasant change in that the dust and dirt isn't on show and changing a bag is a much less messy job than emptying a bagless chamber.

It's a no frills very good quality vacuum cleaner - which hopefully won't ever break down unlike some of the modern machines I've had. A traditional machine with a bag that has exceptional suction on its highest setting (the highest on the market I could find for this type of machine).

Love love these hoovers! Great if you have the pleasure of dreaded dog hairs. Can be quite heavy to carry up and down stairs, but no complaints at all this is my second one and wouldn’t use anything else.

Brilliant vacuum cleaner, can’t even have it on the highest setting as it grips the carpet so well i struggle to move it! Would recommend

This is a real value for money cleaner, the bags are a bit more than I would like to pay but they are really good quality.

22.5.2020

I bought it last year. Look no further. This one or a similar model, but Miele is the best choice.
