This is a very welcome addition to the Technic range - the biggest motorbike they have done yet, and a pretty accurate replica of a real-world bike. It also makes a nice change from the endless construction vehicles of the past couple of years.Build time is 1.5-2.5 hours, depending (obviously!) on how quick you go. I prefer to take my time and marvel at the engineering. It is not very functional - broadly, replicas of real world vehicles have fewer moving parts than Lego designers' flights of fancy - with just front and back suspension and moving engine pistons linked to the rear wheel. That is still pretty good for a 600 piece model, and it does bridge the gap between the pocket-money pull-back racers, and the expensive highly functional models. It is not much bigger than models with fewer pieces, which is explained by the sheer density of pieces in the core of the bike, including plenty of locking pieces which added to the disassembly time. There is a second model, with a full construction guide included - which is a futuristic flying bike. As a nice touch, the instruction book includes some photos of the design process for this model. I don't usually build the second model for a while, but this time I was straight onto it and it was worth the effort.Overall:Positive - a very good replica of the BMW bike (if you Google images of the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure you'll see this for yourself)Negative - not especially functionalVerdict: loved it!

I'm a Lego fan in general, but it's been years since I built anything from the Technic range, and this was a welcome step back into it.I would consider this build challenging, but rewarding. It has a lot of clever features (engine, suspension, steering, kickstand, panniers that open!) that make it a lot of fun - some of the parts give you that "ahhhh!" moment once you've finished putting them together and see how they fit into the bike as a whole. It took me around 3 hours at a relatively relaxed pace. This is also the first time I've used the Lego Building Instructions app, and I've highly recommend it - parts of this build can be tricky, so being able to rotate the build 360 degrees was very useful.I think younger children will definitely need some adult assistance with this.I'd recommend this as a gift for people who like motorbikes in particular, but even if you don't, it's still a lot of fun to put together.

I gave this five stars but if I could I would give it 4.5. Don't get me wrong, this is cracking Lego Technic kit but the reason for the 0.5 star is that because of the piece design it tends to be a repetitive build. And yet, at the same time, this also becomes part of the appeal, as it is quite ingenious how Lego can make so many variations with the same brick designs. Not only that, but when you have completed the build, you stand back and even though your eye sees the Lego, your brain wants to 'smooth" the lines even further and allow you to see the vehicle for as it is meant to be. With more and more Lego sets having some kind of movie or franchise tie-in these days, this kind of model makes a refreshing challenge, and possibly more of a grown up step up?

A very therapeutic three hours or so constructing this 603 piece (with thirteen spare) BMW bike, checking on the net it seems this model is based on the R1200GS Adventure. As expected wheels revolve, handlebars turn, front and back suspension and the rear wheel also engages two visible pistons making it a very acceptable model, seven inches high by thirteen long. Oddly LEGO seem to have forgotten a seat, something my grandson spotted and I couldn't give an explanation. Now he wants me to take it apart so he can try his hand at the alternative model, a sort of one wheel flying machine, an instruction book is provided for this (and maybe it'll use those thirteen spare pieces).

As a fan of lego since I was small I’ve recently picked up a few adult sets such as this.A key to a lego set comes down to the look and the build. If it’s boring to built it’s bad.I found this a little tedious to build to be honest. It took me a few hours.Negatives of it. Handlebars don’t turn too well, lack of mirrors and a seat is an oversight. The top box opening makes no sense to me, you twist it....It’s om. The random Bmw sticker 11 went on the tank area.I paid £30.79 for it when it was discounted. If you can get it for that great, If not I highly recommend the mecca o ducati monster which is a great build

This Lego BMW kit is fantastic.I haven't played with Lego since I was a kid, when I loved making models as well, and it has definitely moved on a long way since then. This is quite a complicated kit, hence the target age range of above 10 years old, and it definitely requires some patience and concentration. It took me quite a few weeks to put together though as I was only able to spend a little bit of time on it at once in a while but now it's complete it looks amazing and I am very chuffed with my efforts.A fantastic gift for any model making fan.

Brought for a friend for Christmas, she's loved it. She did say there was a bit missing, however that's an easy fix, compromise and use something else, or contact Lego and they are awesome and send you your lost part. Although, I saw how she builds her stuff might have just got lost in the room ;) it looks nice, it's quite big too. Don't know how long it took her to build as she does building in small portions of time. But I don't think it was too long! Ps she's 49 :D age doesn't matter when it comes to Lego!!

Brilliant kit but as on most of these motorcycle models the saddle leaves a lot to be desired and I think it spoils the model.I have about 6 motorcycle models by Lego and thay are all much the same (PLEASE PASS ON TO LEGO)If it wasn't for this I would give it a "5"I am 86 Years old and remember Lego when you only got blocks

I bought this for my boyfriend for christmas he's 27 and into bikes and lego and i'm not really but we ended up both building it together it was really fun, relaxing and challenging in some parts so i'm not sure if a child of 10 could do it. I'd recommend it for older children and adults of all ages

Hours of fun with this complex high level challenging Lego. You can make two models from it. In reality you choose one and build that. My son keeps the Lego model and displays them in his bedroom. It arrived quickly and was well packaged in a large box with plenty of packaging inside.

A fun evening build, typical Lego goodness. Made all the more fun knowing I got a reasonable discounted price, not Lego RRP.Only negative side, my partner doesn't want it on a living room shelf, quote, "it's ugly". I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Having received this LEGO set quite quickly, I was pleased that it could build two different models. The bike model was a little complicated and I enjoyed working on the build by following the detailed instruction manual and producing a spectacular BMW motorbike

Must admit, i built this model just for a bit of fun before the challenge of the Buggahti model. Thourghly enjoyed the build which is a fair rendition of the BMW R1200. Thought about putting stabilizers on it so as it could be powered ! Sorry, sense of humour.

I am 34 and still enjoyed building this as I have the real thing in my garage. I marked it down one star as part of the rear assembly was a very tight fit and I had to use a flat edge screwdriver to persuade it into place. Very enjoyable nonetheless.

Christmas pressie for the 2x boys in my house. Very well received. Hours of fun. Took longer than the described time to build it....how bad... more fun.Recommended especially for any big kids with a grown up GS in the same colour scheme.
