A very good upright with one or two niggles that prevent it being perfect. The things I like about this vacuum are many.It is cordless (which is not that unusual anymore) and it has the same suction as the more powerful corded vacuum cleaners (which is very unusual, and a very good feat of engineering!).It also charges very quickly and has a high usable life until it needs charging again (unlike some of the cordless Dysons!).Like all cordless vacuums, the C300 is light, although because it has a strong suction it tends to stick to the carpet and can feel heavier than its physical weight! Nevertheless, it is able to easily get to places that a larger vacuum cannot. Particularly so because the handle can be horizontal, and its thinness allows you to get under sofas and beds, something a traditional upright just cannot do.So for something to be this good on suction on battery power, there has to be a compromise somewhere, and it is the capacity. To get high airflow via battery you make the amount if air being forced to move smaller, and in the case of the C300, they have done it by making the cyclone (the bit where the dirt ends up) both small and at the bottom right next to the rollers. You can see it in the product picture; its the clear round canister at the bottom right. This is a better bet than the early Dysons, where the compromise was low yse time before a recharge was necessary.Incidentally, that's why the upright part of the C300 is so thin; its basically hollow as the cyclone is elsewhere That is also the reason the C300 can get under a bed. This is of course some very good design on the part of Hoover, but the downside is that the amount of dirt the vacuum can hold before it needs emptying is small; about a large tea mug full. Not a big price to pay for the high suction and long battery life though! The other downside is less down to engineering trade offs and more down to poor ergonomics; there are two buttons for ECO/Normal (ECO = economy mode; a lower suction) and Hard Floor/Carpet (Carpet mode means the roller turns, Hard Floor means it doesn't). When you turn the vacuum on it is always set to Hard Floor and Normal. If like mine, your house is carpeted, this gets a little annoying as you are constantly selecting Carpet Mode. A two position dial for Hard Floor/Carpet would have been better. Once set, it can then stay that way.Apart from the minor niggles though, this is close to being perfect. We leave ours upstairs as bedrooms are hoovered less often and require a vacuum that can get under beds and over lots of obstacles. The C300 would also be good for a flat or caravan as it is very small and its handle can retract so it fits in a small cupboard. It could probably do an entire 3 bedroom house as well, as the battery capacity is enough to allow it. You would have to empty the dust between floors though.Overall recommended.Perfect for a flat or caravan, but good enough for a home that doesn't need a larger vacuum (because the kids have gone/haven't arrived yet), or a good second vacuum for upstairs.

I have both thick carpets upstairs and hard floors downstairs, so this machine was due for a thorough workout. I love the way it folds down to fit in a small cupboard, and yet has the reach to clean the stairs from top to bottom without having to position it halfway up. One point of immediate note is that the collection cylinder is pretty small.WeightThis vacuum cleaner is a little heavier than I expected, having an onboard battery pack, although not as heavy as my corded stick cleaner and a fraction of the weight of our standard upright. It is by far the easiest and most convenient to carry up and down stairs, especially when slotted down to half height.CarpetsHaving the brush unit and motor in the base has the advantage of giving weight to the business of sucking and beating dirt out of a carpet. The unit performed well in all areas and didn't slow down or run out of charge on the deepest pile bedroom carpet. Not surprisingly, the noise level increases significantly in Carpet mode with the brush roller in operation.Hard floorsHard floors are absolutely no problem for this cleaner.Above floorThere is a combination pipe extension attachment, having three different nozzles: a flat-sided one for stairs and upholstery, a small rectangular crevice one, and the invaluable brush attachment. The crevice one is too short to use between car seats but the soft brush nozzle is absolutely brilliant for screens, keyboards, AV equipment and for delicate dusting.I like the three LED lights along the front edge for vacuuming in dark corners and the fact that I can see the brushes through the transparent lid. It works well, but it doesn't have the suction power of a mains corded unit, and the thin foam filter pad needs to have the debris carefully scraped from it each time the collection bin is emptied.

This Hoover H-Free C300 HFC216R Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner claims to combine “the convenience of cordless with the benefits of a traditional upright vacuum cleaner”. Well, it’s bigger than a regular stick-style vacuum, and smaller than a full-sized version, but does it really combine the functions of both? There’s a choice of two operating modes – Eco or carpet. The Eco mode used on hard floors is quite impressive - the sideways suction is good, especially in corners. The suction on carpet mode is fine, but for areas of heavy traffic, or where there are cats or dogs, the performance is not as good. However, to be fair, Hoover isn’t promoting this model as an ‘animal’ version. There are three LED indicator lights to alert you to how much battery power is left.It has a much longer battery life than many other cordless machines, and recharges quite quickly. The suction on my current (non-animal version) cordless is, however, stronger – even on half power. The difference is more noticeable on carpet mode. The machine is very maneuverable; it glides easily over surfaces, and under furniture, also the accessories are quick and easy to attach. The Hoover C300 – like others on the market - tries to be both a portable stick and an upright vacuum cleaner. In trying to blend the best of both, it’s a compromise. It’s neither as portable as a stick, nor as functional as a full vacuum cleaner. However, it’s a decent machine at a reasonable price, and its functionality would be fine for the average household.

This vac is billed as light and easily maneuverable but in my experiences so far its not quite meeting those claimsIts not heavy by a full wack Dyson standard but its also not particularly floaty especially on carpets which in someway is a good sign as it implies it is sucking to the floor. What also is a little annoying is that by default the vac switches on in hard floor mode with the brush turned off.In my house 80% of the floors are carpeted and with starting and stopping it becomes a chore keep turning the brush back onA further annoyance is that the battery or the dirt container often unclip without the switches being operatedHaving said this the performance of the vac is impressive forsuch a small hoover with a small bagless container and it as pulled an impressive amount of dirt from our carpets.Another thing I like is that the brush is easy to unclip, remove and clean up - a vital addition in a house full of women. For stairs you have to remove the hose which rests over the top of the hoover, open a flap in the main part insert and twist to lock the hose then use for stairs. While its not a long job again it is a bit of an annoyanceFor extra reach the handle can be extracted and the hose inserted to it and then the attachment onto the end of that for high reach. The attachment is a neat design with stairs and brush attachment sitting around the skinny nossle on the end of longish tubeFor our first cordless main hoover I'm quite pleased with it but it could be better

This needs a bit of assembly out of the box but it is all plastic catches and pushing till it clicks with the exception of the plastic clips for holding the attachments these need a small phillips screwdriver. The battery motor assembly can be charged either in or outside the cleaner by means of a small power block.I was worried that the dust container was very small but it packs in a surprisingly large amount of dirt and is one of the easiest bagless cleaners to empty and clean that I have ever used. This is the first upright cleaner I have used, and first cordless, all my others have been drag along types which compared to this one are like trying to drag a small uncooperative child on askateboard around whilst cleaning. On the whole I found this a joy to use and surprising powerful and quiet for its size but it would not fit under all my furniture which was a bit of a pain and I found the supplied attachments a bit meh especially for clean the stair carpet the hose will not reach from the bottom of my stairs to the top so I had to carry the cleaner up with me, it is light but it was annoying to have to.For general carpet cleaning I found the eco power + carpet mode quite adequate, and the adjustable handle made it comfortable to use for all the household.Overall looking at the build quality which is very good and the ease of use I would say that if you are happy with the price tag this is a worthwhile cleaner to try.

The vacuum arrives unassembled, but putting it all together takes no more than 2 minutes and is really easy. The battery comes partly charged but it didn’t take long to charge it up to full power. There are 4 lights to show you how much battery is left to charge and how much is left to use.I first tried this vacuum on a carpet and was surprised how much fluff it picked up, as the carpet didn’t look too dirty, so this has to be one of the most powerful cordless vacuums I have ever used. This is really handy as I think it is powerful enough to replace our corded one, although the need to keep it charged will be restrictive. When cleaning carpet, you can turn the brush on and off, drpending on your needs. It's also really easy to take the brush out to clean, which isn't the case for all cleaners. This is convenient, as I have had trouble in the past cleaning the brush with hair, threads etc wrapping round it and flogging it up. The vacuum works just as well on hard flooring. The vacuum doesn’t have a bag and it's surprising how much dust and dirt fits into the little compartment before it needs to be emptied. Emptying it is also very easy. There's an Eco mode, however I don’t think this is very useful as it just reduced the power of the vacuum, kind of defeating the benefits of the powerful suction.A good bit of kit, especially as a handy alternative to a corded vacuum, when you just need a quick sweep around.

This is very flexible, but the things which make it flexible also make it a bit fiddly. Overall I think it is very good but certainly has flaws.PROSLight and flexible. It is easy to move around and a universal type joint makes cleaning in corners and under furniture easy.Powerful suction. It picks up dirt very well which is the main purposeEasy to empty. Probably the easiest of any cleaner I have used.Extended reach. Makes it easy to clean light fittings curtain rails etc.Long lasting batteryCONSInstructions. Awful. Spent ages trying to guess what various small photos meant. Parts not labelled and more assembly than usual which made lack of good instructions more of an issue. However you only have to do it once!Noise. It is not the quietest machine particularly when used for straightforward carpet cleaningNo label on charger to distinguish it from othersCapacity. Although the battery will allow long periods of cleaning it will need emptying frequently as the powerful suction is combined with a relatively small dust collectorAt £200 it seems to be positioned mid-market and has enough virtues to make it a good buy, particularly if weight and flexibility are important to you.

This cordless stick vacuum cleaner performs really well. It picks up all crumbs, glitter, hairs, etc., that your child or pet can throw at you!It is incredibly lightweight and I really like that you can put the handle right down so it makes it very easy to store in a cupboard. You can take the battery out to charge it, making it much easier to do so frequently. The container which collects the dust is small, compared to other bagless vacuum cleaners, but not really an issue for me as it's very easy to empty. You can activate the brush for carpet use or deactivate it for hard floor. There is an eco button which I don't think it's that useful. The tools included help with vacuuming the sofa and reaching for those hard-to-reach places with cobwebs. It is very easy to maneuvre as the handle is very flexible. However, we also have a Dyson cordless stick which performs better in terms of speed, so they both do well in picking stuff up but I can do it faster with the Dyson. Saying that, the Dyson is much more expensive so it's really up to you!

I have to say it, this hoover is rather amazing! It comes in a slim, lightweight (surprisingly) box, and once you take it out you get the hoover, which is all in bits. The instructions are okay, hard to understand in places, and assembly is a teeny bit fiddly - you will need a tiny star-shaped (is it posse?) screwdriver to add the cord holders - but it's not bad, just put your glasses on and take your time! It doesn't take too long to charge, I charged mine at the wall but apparently you can take the battery out and charge it wherever you like! Once it is charged, this is where the fun starts! The hoover is so, so powerful, it picked up a ton of fluff on the carpet with ease, more so than a big brand cordless hoover we currently own! Rather surprised at that as it makes the other one look rubbish in comparison! It has a load of attachments for other places, stuff I've not even tried yet, but I look forward to having a go at it! All in all, this is so good. I really love it!

I got this through the AMAZON Vine scheme in exchange for an honest review. I have now used it for a week or so before making comment.Unlike my similar Gtech this vacuum has an extension hose for high spots and other useful attachments for stairs etc. This is its main advantage and without the need for additional parts makes it to my mind more economical. As expected it is very light to handle and can get under furniture easily. It is powerful enough for everyday, household vacuuming and with a run time of about 90 minutes will cover most homes on a single charge picking up hair, crumbs, dust etc from both carpeted and tiled floors. I would mention however that for a continuous 90 minute run,the cylinder will need emptied during the run as like similar models it does not have a great capacity. To empty it is quick, clean and simple so this is not a real problem. The construction is solid and the motor powerful so I hope to use it for many years

I hoovered a “clean” room with this on receiving it and it pulled a whole bin full of dirt out....I think that probably says all that needs said! However...this was very easy to put together, clip the bin in, clip the battery in, slide the handle in. Basically three clicks and your done. If you wish to store the tools on the machine itself there are two parts that need adding, which means three screws to screw in, nothing major. It’s very easy to use, I’m using mine on both carpet and hard floors. It has a 3-in-1 tool crevice, duster brush, upholstery and an extending wand tube which easily clips into a hole hidden by a flap on top of the base unit.My only niggle, yes,the bin feels a bit difficult to click into place, I’m sure I’ll get the knack after a few tries though.Overall I’ve bern impressed with the dirt collection of this unit. I’d rate it higher than the Vax Blade 2 which I returned.

The hoover arrived in a smaller box than I imagined. After going through the (adequate) instructions, assembly was not too difficult. My only experience of a previous cordless cleaner was a Vax which had a battery life of at best 15 minutes and was for lighter duties. The C300 was a revelation - bordering on what I would expect from a traditional cabled cleaner. Yes it coped well with carpets - but the option to clean hard floors worked well. The battery life exceeded my expectations. The machine was bagless, so no additional costs. It also comes with an extended hose for cleaning things like furniture. This was a reasonably light weigh machine that could easily be stored (the handle is telescopic)and the detachable battery charged at a convenient location. If you are looking for a cordless cleaner with a good performance, then this would certainly be worth considering.

A lightweight cordless stick vac.I found it quite difficult to put together but after a lot of frustration I managed it.Very easy to use just glides across carpets and also has a hard floor switch so life is so much easier.Everything is to hand and switch not in way of fingers.I am so pleased with the power of it.It doesn`t lift the carpet threads but lifts the dirt underneath.Easy to push around. No cord to get tangled up with. The charge lasts for up to 80 minutes which I find is certainly enough for round the house twice.Enough tools to add on for cleaning above under and the charger unit itself.Only took a couple of hours to charge although perhaps it is best to run it right down to chargecorrectly. All in all a superb vac just missed a star for being awkward to fit together

The suction on this cordless vac is amazing, although it does make it a little harder to push along the carpet, but you can feel the power of the suction, it is ideal for my large victorian 1 bed flat, the battery life lasts for 3 full hoovers through, before needing a recharge, charging is fairly quick too. Very happy with my purchase, as it not only does a good job, but was one of the cheaper cordless vacs too. A quick delivery no hassle purchase.

this product is light and easy to use but only seems to clean surface only, not into the pile and is useless if you have a pet as it does not pick hair out of the carpet. Tool for stairs etc is nearly useless, hardly any power produced. Really disappointed as I think at the price it should perform better.
