My gas fire broke, and it was awkward to switch on. So scanned E bay looking for aGood quality, reliable, economical to run, and to fit over existing fireplace. I decided on this model and it would cost £240. Had to wait until payday, glad I did as it was in AO black friday sale for £154 absolute bargain.Delivery no problem, I am a pensioner and managed to set it up , not too heavy.VERY PLEASED top switches or use of remote, u can hear the fan heater but it's covered by the TV sound. 10 out of 10

This fire is easy to fit,just place and plug in! The immediate effect is quite amazing.On these dull winter days I leave the flame effect on and when you walk in the room it has an instant cosy feel to it with the flames and the coal effect twinkling as though burning.At night,when the main light is off,the flame and coal effect is even more effective, but still works well in daylight. I have gas central heating so bought for the feel of the fire,however the fan appears to throw out good warmth.

The firelight is what I wanted. Really matters, rather than the heaters. The fire light is bright, with realistic flames at the back. The fire bed has REAL coal, for the authenticity. There is orange lighting underneath the coals which moves slowly, giving the effect of burning embers. NOTE. Before you put the coals in the tray, my advice would be to put them in a sieve, and brush them off, then place them, leaving all the tiny bits in the sieve. It is filthy. I love this cozy fire. Pure class!

I don't like to speak to soon as this is the 6th fire I have had since just before Christmas (not this model) all the other fires had noise issues that really bugged me, but so far this one is quiet you don't hear it at all, I have not used the fan heater as yet as central heating is on although I did try it out when I first got it. the flame effect on it is the best part 'so real' and with real coal, it makes my small dull living room look really warm and cosy. I love it, what more can I say.

Stands in front of unusable inbuilt gas fire and looks great. No fixings or fittings as it is free standing, just plug it in and switch it on. Problem with original as the fan wouldn't always work but Argos replaced it straight away and the second one is brilliant.There are 2 very efficient fan settings but the real charm lies in the flame effect feature which uses real coal. Even without the fan, the glowing coals light up the room and make a big difference on cold evenings. Would recommend.

Bought this as all the reviews raved about how easy the fire was to take out of the box and plug in to use! That maybe so but my plug socket on the hearth is only one inch above the surface and the plug attached to the fire has large rigid plastic from the plug which prevents me from plugging it into the socket. I await an electrician to assist with the problem, no mention on the description of the item about the plug and how much room would be required to plug it in, very disappointing. :(

The elderly lady I support had to have her beloved gas fire removed, it was leaking! She had a one bar old fashioned electric fire in its place. Informed she could not have a gas fire anymore we looked for a replacement. The Argos catalogue came to the rescue, I ordered it on her behalf on 22nd December, we were amazed it was delivered the next day, right on time. She was absolutely thrilled, it fit in place perfectly and offered the warm glow she missed. Saved Christmas for 92yr old.

Ordering and collection could not have been simpler. The overall impression - it does look good. Dimplex have got it right. It has two individually switched one kilowatt heating elements.. It has a remote control which selects the fire's flicker-effect simulation which uses just four watts. The imitation "coal" plus red background is really effective. The surround has a plane rear and will stand against any flat surface. Particularly effective against marble. In all, a good product.

WIFE JUST PUT THE COAL IN TURNED ON AND THE FLAMES LOOK SO REAL EVAN THE COAL LOOKS HOT SHE TOOK THE COAL OUT BAG BY HAND SO THE COAL DUST STAYED IN BAG THE REMOTE CONTROL IS JUST FOR TURNING FLAME ON / OFF-- SO OK WIFE WINS THIS TIME SEE I SAID IT WONT LOOK AS GOOD AS A REAL COAL FIRE OK I WAS WRONG?-- ONE OTHER THING IT LIGHTS A LOT EASIER THAN A REAL ONE LOL JUST LOOKING AT IT MAKES YOU FEEL WARM . O WELL TAKE CARE LOOK AFTER YOUR SELF AND RELAX BY A NICE DIMPLEX FIRE.

Moved into new place but no fire or fireplace. Bought this as a focal point and for extra heating when I do not want to use the central heating. Free standing and surprisingly fairly realistic. As in middle of heatwave have not put the heating side to the test, but like the fact that the fans point down to warm from the floor upwards. If you have no existing fire place recommend you buy the base too, as it finishes of the effect. Parent bought it as housewarming present.

We keep finding that fires last us just beyond the one year guarantee period. Argos offered us a 3 year guarantee on this fire which is why we took it. It was also a very reasonable price. So far everything has been trouble-free. The fire looks good. It is slightly noisier than we would like but we were warned about this and you soon get used to the noise. The flames look very realistic. We are pleased with our purchase and the Argos delivery service was excellent.

I really love this fire . It looks really nice in my fire surround against the black marble. The flame effect is very good and you can even see them through the coals. Installed in a couple of minutes, just put it in place and plug it in. The coals are nice and small , It is real coal so I gave them a good rinse in the sink and let them dry. I like that you don't have to have the heat blower on and you can just enjoy the cosy flame effect if you wish. Excellent!

This free standing fit just pushes back against a wall or a fire surround and looks warm, cosy and inviting. Okay, so it isn't 'real' but my mum was delighted that it made her room look warm and welcoming. The real coals flicker with a red glow and the flames are pretty impressive as well.It can be plugged in to a wall socket, but that leaves a trailing, visible cable . So we got an electrician in to set it up inside the fire surround so no visible wires.

I bought this to replace an older version that I had purchased many years ago.That one is now in another room.The new version is superb with some minor changes to the switch controls. The fire performs really well and the flame effect is very real and attractive. Easy to install and silent in use except when the fan is used and even that it not over loud.I ordered in the morning and it was delivered a few hours later. Excellent service.Highly recommended.

Initially wasn't sure about colour and whether it would sit as flat against grate. Was well pleased once unwrapped and placed in position. Slight caution lay done some protection when putting coals on colouring will get everywhere if not careful, and you may find as I did you won't use all coals. Flame effect is good makes room feel warm even without heaters on. When tested Heaters very strong and would keep most rooms warm even without central heating.
