Well i read all the reviews on this product and most of them are very good. The only one thing i was worried about was that it was going to look too plastic and to deep for my fireplace. I was very surprised, the silver surround does not look at all plastic and it’s not at all too deep, the overall effect of this product is very good I think. It looks much better than the black colour one that i did think about purchasing [there is a identical one, all in black]. I defiantly made the right decision though. The fire is very impressive at night, I used the white stones they totally look like a real coals, easy to switch on and off. However the fan is a little nosey, but im a Electrician and I know that would be the case,

We are extremely delighted and pleased with the Dimplex Castillo Electric fire which we have bought, it was very modern, elegant looking and extremely good value for money! in fact it was a great bargain buy, because not only does it look good and creates a great focal point for our living room, it also warms it up very quickly indeed, I do agree with some other reviews in that the surrounding bit does look plasticy and would have been so much better if it was made out of chrome and infact I would be willing to pay quite a bit more on top for the chrome finish, however, this is the only compromise, as despite the plastic material, it still looks very modern and sleek and stylish.

Bought this to replace old gas fire! It fitted the gap in fireplace perfectly and looks lovely!! Agree with earlier comment that the silver effect surround looks very plasticy at first glance, however I've got used to it now and once the fire is insitu it doesn't look as bad! The flame effect is lovely and a bonus is you can have flame effect on without the heat! Bonus is also choice between coals and pebbles! Undecided as to which look better at the moment though!!! Very easy to install, literally plug in!!! Didn't think the fan on heater made much of a noise, no worse than I'd expect (as it is in effect a fan heater!!!) overall a very pleasing purchase!

I could not be more pleased. I bought this fire not only as a focal point but also as a back up for my gas central heating as if my heating broke down I now have a temporary heat source. It took me about twenty minutes to unpack and install, the flame effect is really realistic and looks fantastic and being able to have the flame effect without the heat on is brilliant. I must also say that having the choice of coal or the more modern option of pebbles included in the box gives you more scope in your future decor. Brilliant product for the price.

Despite what it says on the Argos website this is NOT an inset fire - which is just as well since I didn't want an inset one. There are screw holes so you can attach it to the wall for stability (it's a pity they don't provide a template to help you do this.)I agree with previous reviews that's it's a pity the surround is plastic not metal but it's not really noticeable and the fire looks good. Biggest problem I have is that the max. output is 2KW which isn't much; but I guess that's the price you pay for the simplicity of an electric fire.

I bought this fire in the black surround after seeing it in my sisters house.I am so pleased I did it looks absolutely fabulous the flame effect and mirrored back make it looks so cosy and effective it is without doubt the best fire I have seen.I rarely use it to heat the room but if need to it does a grand job and is quiet. I have had many compliments on it in fact three other people have bought them after seeing mine and they are also delighted with them. I would definitly recommend to anyone,

After reading other reviews which are a mixed bag, I decided if I don’t like it I can return. Mainly people don’t like the plastic outer. However, I don’t find it at all bad. It has a lovely shiny chrome frontage, the flame effect is fantastic, and the heat output is good. The only gripe I have is that the heat blows straight to the floor rather than out into the room initially. It does make the room hot eventually though. I love my fire and I’m glad I took the leap and bought it.

After my old fire didn't fit my new fireplace, I needed a replacement in a hurry. Managed to source this, by fastrack, within 2 days at a local store. The outer surround is plastic, but the rest is metal, but it looks good against the fireplace. The flame effect is LED and looks pretty realistic. It comes with coals and pebbles, both are very generous. This was definitely a bargain, as the nearby DIY store is selling the same one for nearly £80 more.Great value & does the job.

Bought this about two weeks ago and it when it came it was well packaged so there’s less likelihood of it getting damaged. I wasn’t sure about the chrome as it looked a little cheap but once the stones were on (you get a choice of white pebbles or coal- I’m using the coal for a winter effect at Christmas time) and with the glow on it gives a lovely effect. Haven’t needed to use the heating part yet but when I have put it on you get a good distribution of heat around the room.

I was on a budget, and wanted something free standing - the pictures looked good and Dimplex was a brand I trusted.I wasn't disappointed. None of the marketing pictures do this fire justice, and actually looks significantly better (and more realistic) than I expected (personally, I think the coals look much better than the pebbles). It's easy to fit as freestanding, and there are also screw mounts on the back should it be required to be fixed to a wall.

Just took delivery today, very easy to install, the surround is plastic however once on the fire hearth it doesn't look plastic. Looks absolutely fab , bought this to place in front of the open fire as have natural gas heating & just wanted a glow. It's very realistic looking, I used the stones as the wife said they were nicer , overall extremely happy with it & looks much better than than my neighbours more expensive one .

I bought this fire to provide instant heat and this it does. The fire comes with artificial coal and pebbles. You can use either. When the fire is on, the mirror effect at the back of the grate reflects the pebbles and the flame, giving a lovely effect. .Because my wall socket is behind where the fire sits, the fire is not flush to the wall. This does not detract from the look of the fire. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Unfortunately I cannot mark ease of use, fitting or performance as I had to return this fire due to the measurements in the book being completely wrong. The measurements in the catalogue seem to be the size of the box the fire comes in and not the size of the fire. The height was 5 inches shorter than stated in the catalogue. I was very disappointed as it was exactly what I was looking for.

ive read some of the reviews for this fire and they werent so good but i went on what the rest said and i will agree, its a great fire and lovely to look at. ive only bought it to use the light up effect as its just a focal point and not for the actual heat, and its great so i would definetly recomend it and it was also on offer at the time of buying it so that was even better.

Despite early doubts about this fire (burning stones (?) and possible fan noise), it soon became a welcome addition to the household. The fan is a tad noisy (turn up the TV) but the burning pebble effect is great, it looks like ash-covered BBQ briquettes. The flame effect is realistic, nice to sit in front of even without heat. With the heat turned on, you won't want to move.
