I previously owned an electric stove, it was cheap and cheerful and did the job. I hadn't seen a Dimplex Opti-Myst stove until recently, and when I did then I was sold. I bought a Dimplex Gosford GS 020 here from the Amazon Warehouse. It was a "used like new" offer with a significant discount from the new price. Delivery was very fast, just two days and it appeared at my door. Setting up was a little more complicated than expected. It isn't quite plug and go as advertised. First unpack carefully and make sure everything is intact and present. Place the stove in a suitable position allowing sufficient ventilation. Dimplex provide excellent instructions with diagrams which I found very helpful.

Had this fire a couple of days now, and over all it's really good but there's a couple of minor niggles that I have with it that's stopping me giving it 5 stars.*With the heat on, the fan noise is pretty noticeable - not ideal when watching TV but it's not 'too' bad - just need to turn the TV volume up more than usual.*For a (rrp) £500+ fire, there's more plastic involved than I'd have liked. The main case is metal and decent quality, but the door is plastic and feels cheap (although 'looks' decent) and the remote plastic has that really lightweight made in china feel to it.*The remote only works at very precise angles, so can't use it from our sitting positions, have to get up and walk over to be in front of fire,

We had originally wanted a real log burning stove, but it was not possible, given the difficulty of installing a chimney. We wanted it primarily as a focal point, but also to provide heat.Instead, we sent for this Dimplex stove.The stove is quite heavy - as a log burner should be - and was easily assembled.When the reservoir has been filled and the stove turned on, the effect is very realistic. Visitors are mesmerised by the flames as they would have been with a real stove.The advantage of the Dimplex stove is that, besides filling the reservoir with filtered water, it has no requirement for maintenance. It can also be turned on, and off, in an instant using the remote control.The stove itself is really excellent,

Brought it for show only, haven't used the heat setting as yet. Had damaged logs but I emailed the supplier and a spare was sent straight away, but actually seems to still work as it is unnoticeable. Looks nice . The water steam setting needs to be set low or it just steams up, see photos, I've also taken out 2 of the bulbs as I think it's too bright with all 4 in,I left the 2 outer ones in as they do get really hot, see photos to see if you notice the difference last photo is with only two bulbs. I have a set of bulbs on order that are LED so if any good I will update my review. We got this on offer at £389. Personally I wouldn't pay anymore for it. But we do love it only had this a few days,

I bought one of these for my dad two years ago so giving it a considered review. The first unit arrived with a broken insert but Amazon sorted it out pretty well. My dad had been used to an open fire and enjoys the wood burning stove in our house so was anxious to get something that was easy to use.Long story short. He loves it. He does have to fill it with water every other day but despite his advanced years does it without difficulty. He gets a great kick out of been able to start it with a very simple and big button remote control and enjoys both the very real looking flame and the heat. He has it on all the time during the winter when he watches tv and gets great pleasure out of the visual

Brilliant wee fire. Did a lot of research before buying it and considered all models and other makes. I’m so glad I bought this one. It looks real as other people have stated. I bought the pipe for added authenticity and everyone has been fooled into thinking it’s a real stove. Was simple enough to set up and I had it unpacked and up n running within 10mins. I will probably only use it lit up for aesthetic purposes, although the heat option is handy. The only very very small picky gripe I have is I can sometimes hear the water gurgling into the chamber that turns it to steam. It’s faint, but I can hear it. I may also add that I bought this fire through the Amazon warehouse and secured it for £50 less than normal due to some small mark on it...

What can I say but WOW! This fire has exceeded my expectations in every way. Setting it up is not too difficult if you read the instructions well. I filled the water tank once and it lasted for five hours on full "flame". The fire shuts off when the water tank is empty , just lift out the log bed, remove the water tank, fill with filtered water, pop it back in, and switch fire back on. All in it took about one minute to have fire back on again! Effortless compared to the attention a real wood burner requires. Any condensation disappears if you leave the door open slightly for a minute or two. I had my doubts about how effective this would be as a substitute wood burner and I can honestly that I think it is the "bees knees"!

I researched and visited a whole load of fires before purchasing this one. Obviously, I've always wanted a log burner. However, it's not suitable for my apartment. I considered a Bio-ethanol fire which does have a real flame, but ruled this out due to the cost of the fuel and uncertainty over air pollution. I saw the opti-myst stove in a shop working and thought the flames look so real. Other reviews I read said the same. It was easy to assemble. It's comparatively cost effective and it looks fantastic. I am currently changing my decor from country coastal to Nordic, and this is perfect for Hygge living. I love it. The one downside is when the door is fully closed and the flames are going,

Got one of these a week ago, massive improvement over my last Dimplex fire, which had opti flame technology, Opti myst takes it to a whole new level, combined this with a plastic stove pipe from B&Q and almost looks like a real log burner.Seen various complaints on reviews regarding condensation, we have had no issues although we keep the flame on the lowest level as it looks more realistic on that setting.Also seen complaints regarding the routine cleaning, again this has been no problem and takes a couple of minutes every couple of weeks. This is an expensive fire but is a fantastic focal point in any living room and is worth every penny, I haven't even mentioned the thermostat controlled heater element of this fire,

This is as good as all the reviews say. I had a real stove in my last house and I am fussy about thinks looking fake but am delighted with this. The smoke really convinces and the yellow bulbs are good, not too orange or red. If the smoke control is set in the middle range no condensation seems to form at all.Easy to set up although take care to put the log tray on with the slit opening towards the back of the fire or the smoke cannot work. I found this out by experience.Yes you can hear the fan heater when it's on but it's quite low and voices, music, tv, traffic etc will make it less than in a silent room.Remote control a nice wee extra but manual controls very easy to operate.I bought the

We bought this to go in our fireplace after our chimney became unusable. Also wanted to be a bit greener and have an electric fire over burning wood etc.Very realistic for a fake fire, the flames and fake logs are pretty good and you wouldn't realise its fake unless you focused on it. We have to refill the water about once a day if we have it on all day - which is a small inconvenience but nothing compared to having to add logs to a real fire. Using filtered water is pretty important so there is no limescale build-up. The fan is quite noisy but not too bad if playing music or chatting etc - only notice it when the room is quiet.Overall a great fake fire and really pleased with it.

Ordered this stove from France as not available here. First stove didn't arrive, I contacted Amazon after the date that it should have been delivered and they immediately sent out a replacement which arrived within four days - thanks Amazon.Stove not yet in situe but tried it out to make sure it works. Found the bulbs a bit difficult to insert but otherwise the assembly was OK.Flame effect is as expected, we would prefer it if we could use the fan heater independently of the flame effect, but the fire will make a cleaner replacement for a log insert. Did notice a slight noise with the fan, and a dripping sound, but still quieter than the turbo fans on existing fire.

I have my fire on almost all day every day in the winter months as I am a therapist and work from home in a draughty house. Lots of my clients have commented on how lovely it is and many have been surprised the flames are not real. It has a slight noise but not enough to bother my work and is much quieter than my old electric heater. The only downside is that my remote control stopped working after only a couple of days. That aside, I love it and whilst I think it is quite expensive for what it is, if I could afford it I would buy another one for another room.

Although the log assembly arrived in many pieces, Dimplex replaced it without question, arriving in two days.The fire itself is excellent with the Opti-Myst feature being exceptional, providing a fine focal point and plenty of heat. The half-heat setting has proved to be very adequate for these milder days. I am awaiting the arrival of really cold N.E winds to really test the fire. The room has large picture windows facing N.E. and was a severe test for a gas fire as most of the warmth that provided, went straight up the flue.

I bought this fire a couple of weeks ago. It arrived within 24 hours, excellent service Very. As for the fire, it is remarkable. The most authentic electric log burner stove I have ever seen. Every body who has visited has commented on its appearance. It is so realistic. I bought a filter jug so I always have water to fill the tank. I fill the tank once a day which is easy and quickly done. I also bought a decorative outlet pipe which really gives it authenticity. A really really good purchase. Thank you Very.
