What a great little fire, love it, heats up very quickly and not to noisy, the dog loves it, it looks fab and i have added a cheap fire surround to mine from Argos of course! and now it looks like a very, very expensive fire. has a really lovely glow to it of an evening and you can choose the level of heat, i have mine going most of the day and night and it is just perfect for keeping the chill off the room and the air doesn't get dry like you get with the central heating on. wish i had brought this years ago instead of messing around with my central heating dial all the time adjusting the heat. Go and buy it now you wont regret it. Well done Argos! smashing fire for us that don't have a chimney.

Great looking and warm fire. I love the glow from the logs and the infra red bars. Some people might think it's old fashioned, but I love the retro way it looks. I personally didn't like the flickering so I unscrewed the logs and removed the spinning 'dish' above the bulb. Although I'd like to point out that it made no sound. I had a different electric fire in my fireplace, but didn't use the heater because it was just a fan heater, and was noisy. This fire fitted my bill perfectly.

Bought to replace a much more expensive fan heater which failed after 3 months.It's quiet and efficient and looks as though it will keep going for many years.Yes, it does look a bit old-fashioned but I can live with that for what it provides.It's simple and straightforward - controls are easy to use. Light and easy to move.Because stores only seem to have one in stock, I reserved to make sure I didn't have a wasted journey - reservation and collection were straightforward.

Due to our inset gas fire breaking down on us in this last bad weather spell, and unable to get the part needed for at least another 6 weeks and fed up with blow heaters etc trying to keep warm I spotted this item in the catalogue and it was the only one I could find that was free standing. It gives out a lot of warmth from the bars and the glow it gives outis very effective. As this is an occuring happening with our gas fire we are extremely happy to have this as a standby.

This fire was 3rd time lucky for us as we wanted an instant heat fire which looked welcoming when it was on but was also noiseless. As it has no fan like so many of them it is lovely & silent. The 'glow' when on isn't too daunting either like a halogen heater. We also liked the fact is was nice and stable with no worries about it toppling over. The heat it gives off with just the one bar is adequate for us so it should prove quite economic to run as well

This fire replaced my gas fire which gave up the ghost and sends out as much heat on two bars as that did. Once you have got the room to your temperature you can turn it down and it still remains at that temperature. It is a great design as well as I have it sat in front of the old gas fire on the plinth and it is just small enough for that. All in all highly recommend and the price is great as well.

I hesitated for some time before buying this fire but am glad I did. As it's not been much of a summer - I felt quite cold from time to time and was reluctant to turn om gas central heating. This fir is ideal for heating my living room and the light is quite comforting in the evening. I may eventually buy a small fire surround to finish off the overall effect but it's quite nice on it's own

Bought this for my nan to replace a similar one that broke. Does everything we expected it to , choice of one or two bars on at a time, heats up instantly and is easy to plug in and switch on but there is no way of putting the light effect on/off. If the fire is plugged in then the flickering light will be on constantly which really isn't needed on all the time.

Was looking for a 'traditional' electric fire & found this one listed by Argos. Searched for this type of fire in alternative suppliers, but nothing else like it seemed to be available. Bought at our local store, installed & working within the hour. Very easy to use, one or two bars to choose, does what it says on the box. Very satisfied with it.

Easy to set up, gives out more heat than the Dimplex Stoves with the fan heater underneath, which this has replaced.Strange because each have 1kW and 2kW settings.Only drawback that I can forsee is that when the incandesant Fireglow bulb needs changing none wil be available. I have yet to see an energy saver version of the Fireglow bulb.

I bought this just to have some extra heat in the living room when a coal fire would be too much. Im not a fan of blow heaters and prefer direct heatIt looks ok and definately does the job and the amount of heat is very good.Buying from Argos was easy and quick.Maybe a little too expensive which is why I rated 4 stars instead of 5.

Bought for an elderly relative who wanted the "warm glow" whether the heating elements were on or off. As this was very similar to one used in the past was delighted at the familiar look and similar controls to those she is used to.Ideal as a simple solution and for elderly people who are familiar with the style.

Purchased this fire for my Mum, both her and I were totally impressed with both the appearance and quality of the fire for the money. Mum has had to use only 1 bar so far and even then has to switch it off now and again as gets too hot. Also Mum has very bad arthritis and can manage to work swiches easily xxx

Our gas fire was condemned and I had very little money, I had no idea how I'd ever find a fire I could afford. But this little fire stopped all our worries. It may be a little shorter in height than I would choose but everything else I can't fault. It heats the room as well as the gas fire did, if not more.

I purchased this fire for an elderly lady who only has the option of electric heating. She is delighted with the product and commented that it is much better than the one it replaces. The instructions are simple and she manages to use all settings with no difficulty.Would recommend this fire - Excellent!!
