I live in a northern state with snow, ice, and slush. I have boots for shoveling and certain tasks and I normally wear tennis shoes every day. I got these because they were waterproof to wear daily throughout the winter. I have to say that the soles of these shoes grip quite a bit better than tennis shoes. I feel more stable on snow and ice. (although nothing is great on ice) There are times when I am forced to walk through puddles. When I get home, my socks are completely dry.I am not sure how long they will waterproof. I have had boots in the past that were waterproof for a while.I ended up lacing them most of the way and leaving the top loops empty.I slip them on like tennis shoes without having to tie them each time I put them on. The back of the shoe is stiff and this seems to work well without crushing the back. (I have this problem with tennis shoes sometimes)I do not think they are much warmer than tennis shoes, but they definitely keep my feet at least as warm. The pattern is nice and they are good looking shoes. Great for winter or when you are off the pavement and could use some extra traction.I got them because they were waterproof but ended up liking the grip more than anything else.

This is a well made TRAIL shoe. It's not going to hold up under a heavy ruck for a multi-night trek into the backcountry, certainly not long term. The utility here is for day hikes on maintained trails or for the "outdoorsy-look" outfit around town.Performance within those limits is satisfactory. The insole is a bit more cushioned than I'd prefer, but it's not outrageous. These wear more like cross trainers than hiking boots. While waterproof/water resistant, I found the tread to be not as aggressive as I'd like through mud, though again it's not like I'm going through that mud with an expedition ruck.Fit is right to size - it fits me a little on the snug side but again...cross trainers.Decent room in the toe box helps mitigate things. My nit is the ankle - the lace doesn't use hooks for the top two loops, so dialing in the fit there is a little more casual than something specifically purposed for the outdoors. On the other hand, these aren't hard core so perhaps the design choice is to be expected. It's good footwear for light outdoors or, again, to have a particular look when walking around Normal. Outside of those limits these shoes will be somewhat challenged.

I bought this to replace an older, lighter weight Columbia boot. This is my first water repellant boot so I was a little apprehensive. Snowed 12" around Seattle and the dog walk yesterday navigated snow drifts and slush. Surprisingly, my foot and sock was dry.My one concern was the toe area (from the front part of my arch foreward) wasn't as boxy as other boots and was a tad tight when I put the shoe on. The workaround for me was now to take extra care in how I cinched the front part of the laces, single overhand to minimize lace slippage, then regular criss-cross lacing and finishing the tie with the usual dbl overhand knot. This helped to keep my foot to the rear as much as possible.the other option would be to wear thinner socks which isn't ideal during lengthier treks.I don't have large feet: 5'5" 150# and size 10.5 mens. Each time I initially slide my foot into the boot, I'm immediately reminded how confined the boot dimensions are from mid foot forward. Buying a larger shoe might help but then there would be a larger than ideal toe gap

These boots are a little snug, which you want in a hiking boot. If they are too loose, you end up with chafing and blisters after a long hike. However, these are a little too snug to accommodate my thick cold weather hiking socks. I'm thinking that they will loosen up a bit after some wear. If they don't, I may need to get a different pair for cold hiking. They are perfect right now for hiking in regular athletic socks; I got no hot sports after a 6 mile test hike. The boots themselves are excellent. I expect excellence from Columbia, and so far they have always delivered. The boots are quite light weight but tough and precisely assembled. They look fantastic. The welt is perfect looking, the laces are cylindrical and springy and they stay tied. And even though they are breathable, via the miracle of Gore Tex or something similar, they are waterproof. These are serious boots for serious hiking. You can use them for day hikes, but they are up for backpacking as well. Great boots.

This is a very nice sort of hiking/active boot that has some bounce to the insole, a comfortable fit, and appears/feels to be made very well. I’ve got somewhat wide feet but this regular size provided no challenges concerning fitment or comfort. There is plenty of great grip on the soles, I’ve not noticed any markings on flooring from the bottoms and they don’t hurt my feet after wearing them for a whole day. They are an alright value and I believe lend themselves well to some intensive outdoor activities.Pros:Fit very wellAppear to be made well, with good materialsInsole is comfortableBottom of sole isn’t marking my flooringOutstanding gripNot too heavyCons:These aren’t the cheapest pair of active boots you can find but they also aren’t the most expensive.Overall,I think these look pretty good on a trail or with jeans in a less than formal event. I’d recommend checking them out if you’re in the market.

Very comfortable hiking boot that can be used for daily wear. Made of 100% leather and textile and has nice cushioning. My son normally wears a size 10.5; but with his everyday socks, these boots fit him nicely. This kid wears shoes out! When he gets a pair that feels good, they are his everyday shoe forever! We really appreciate a boot that can be used for many situations. These boot have a nice, gripping rubber sole that works great for his needs. He is a videographer of the outdoors. You can find him filming a National Park one day and the local museum the next. He loves that these are waterproof because he never knows what type of terrain he’s going to be filming. He prefers a shoe that will hold up to his rough treatment, comfortable enough to wear for long hours and looks good! These boots are everything he needs in a good, durable shoe.

The Columbia Men's Redmond V2 MID boot comes up just a little bit higher on the ankle than the Columbia V2 hiking shoe so it adds just a little more support to the ankle. The top metal rivets and lacing aglets, along with reinforced main webbing aglets make the lacing over the instep very comfortable. After scrolling down to the measuring instructions on this page we discovered that this shoe runs about one size smaller than the usual size the Exalted One wears, so the 10.5 fits his usual 9. 5 size foot. He says they are very comfortable right out of the box so no “breaking in”. The top and tongue are well padded and a pull-on tab makes them easy to slip on. The toe and heel have an extra wrap-around protection.Non-marking rubber soles.Made in Vietnam.

The quality as expected is great, I'm already a fan of Columbia Sportswear and own a few articles of clothing from them. These shoes are pretty lightweight which is nice if you don't want heavy bulky shoes. However, the hiles up the peaks here in Phoenix are pretty craggy, tons of jagged rock/lava chunks. These shoes feel a bit underpowered for that terrain. These are best suited for trails, paths, walking in the woods, etc. They are comfortable and not bulky so these could be good everyday shoes in a casual environment as well. I actually ended up buying a pair of Merrell hiking shoes very similar in style and those are like off-road 4x4 tires, better suited for walking around on Mars... er...I mean rocky Phoenix mountain trails.

First, the shoes appear to be well-made and solid. Initially a little tight, but after about an hour of wear around the house they entered "the comfort zone" with my padded compression socks on.Second I "normally" wear a size 9 and these were perfect. The most IMPORTANT hint on sizing was paying attention to the European size, which was 42. I have other shoes which fit well that ranged from 8-1/2 to 9-1/2, but each one had ONE thing in common - they ALL were European size 42 !!So...I suggest check out your other shoes and go by EUR size and you should have the best shot at a nice fit all other things being equal.

Been a customer for around 10 years. The shoes seem to last a year, But I am downright brutal with them.My work with "throwing freight" I'm kneeling on the floor a lot and do a lot of walking. At home, I'm working on weeding and Gardening. or even working on some projects at home.Bike Riding, and hiking!Shoes also get wet when I'm watering outside. The wear & Tear is usually see is Tread starts to wear, and shoes show signs of bending stress within a year of use.

I've used a lot of hiking boots over the years. These are pretty good. By no means the best, but really nice.PROSThey are comfy - some really nice cushioning.Pretty good build - not tough, but not flimsy.Nice laces - not worried about them breaking.Good traction - Not going to rely on them on wet rock, but pretty good.CONSThey are kind of ugly - My keens look a lot better.Just ever so slightly on the tight side. Maybe my fee got fat.

I work on my feet for 12 hours days and needed something that would be kind to the feet. I ordered the size I generally wear when buying shoes and was happy they fit perfect when they arrived. Color was not as brown as I had hoped but not to the extent I would return them. The first day wear was great, I felt some fatigue in my feet toward the end of my day verses early on. Great work shoe that is both comfortable and looks good as well.

I am still in awe at how perfectly these fit my fit right out of the box and how incredibly comfortable these are!! They feel like they were custom molded to my feet. I thought being brand new there would be some break-in period - nope! They fit like a glove and are like walking on clouds. Seriously - they are so soft and so light yet sturdy and supportive I really lucked out getting these. And best part, I love the way they look.

These boots are everything that I would ask-for from winter footwear.PROS:- They are waterproof, yet breathable.- The tongue is gusseted so that the water barrier is up past the ankle.- The rubber used is very grippy... I regular step on wet manhole covers and assorted junk in these NYC streets and have not slipped yet.- My foot is held in securely but the excellent lace-up system and sturdy looking laces.CONS:- None.

23.10.2019

- Wore them for a full day of outdoor use and they felt comfortable all day!- Though the shoe is water resistant, it didn't breathe well thus feet got a bit sweaty- Excellent grip on rough surfaces, but not as good on wet solid roadways- Good ankle support, though the laces couldn't be snugged enough and had to be retied several times during the day- Wonder how they'll do in cold winter settings
