When I first tried on a pair of Brasher supalights eight years ago I was amazed. No sensation of hauling bricks about on your feel like other leather walking boots: light, soft amazingly comfortable from day one and with a fine leather lining, it was the kind of boot I always wanted but nobody had previously made. Eight years on aside from the times when I waded through marsh above the boot depth, they have never let in water ever. I had never previously found boots that kept my feet this dry: even Goretex ones would start to leech water in a short space of time. I can only imagine that the soft leather inners of the Brashers protect the Gortex from damage. Thats the amazing pluses but yes: one big downside .The soles were rubbish. Even from new Brashers soles had poor grip and when slightly worn were downright slippy. without spike grips mine were latterly downright dangerous so it was off for a new pair only to find "MY" Brashers were now Berghaus.Ok. they looked similar...same one piece leather upper...same fine leather lining.. so I bit the bullet. The Berghaus version has a new lighweight Vibram sole! hurrah! so far.,, not a brilliant grip but a big improvement as far as I can see. It givers a slightly firmer harder feel to the boot so not quite as comfy as the old ones. The uppers likewise feel slightly narrower and slightly too tight on the instep (the top of the foot) so I remedied by removing the crap hard boot liners (same design as the old ones) and replacing them with a softer but thinner insole to give more room, and missing a row of the hooks on the instep arch on lacing up which seems to work. The tongue seems thicker and less pliable thn the old Brashers, so you might want to adjust that a few times till you get them sitting comfortably. Other negative? Yea same as everyone else says: the laces are too short! Get a grip on the details Berhaus!! Anyway I just walked about forty km in the last few days in them from new. Final verdict? Not quite so comfy as the old type: lots of adjusting to get them right but no blisters or soreness, so all in all I'm a happy walker and glad they still make them.

I get a bit fed up that nearly all footwear for men these days seems to be a wide fitting. Thank goodness for these boots. very comfy, lighter than my trainers. Did a three mile country run in them to see how they were at cushioning footfall. Just like running in trainers only without the wet feet! Which brings me onto waterproofing - no problems at all, and they all keep the feet nice and warm. they are made from a very soft leather, however i did get a blister on my left heel after the run - might bet more to do with my odd feet than the boots though.Cons: not sure about the height of the back of the boot - its kind off cut back. Def not a high top.On steep declines the back of the boot presses onto my achilles in a not too pleasant way. Never had this issues with high top boots. All in all a good buy. Once the back of the boots soften up, and my left foot toughens up, they will be spot on

Firstly, the leather - it is very soft - I just hope it is tough enough for hill walkingI have fairly narrow feet and with walking socks, these boots (out of the box) are snug. I expect them to relax a bit with wear.I ordered the 9 (43) as per my usual shoe size - I then ordered a 9.5 (44) because I wasn't sure about the snugness of the 9/43. In the end I sent back the 9/43 and settled for the next size up from my usual shoe. I've done 10 miles in them today and for new boots they were surprisingly comfortable. It rained hard for about 10mins - no ingress of water so far. They are slightly higher necked than I am used to - but the softness of the leather meant they didn't chafe. There is memory foam in the lining so the boot moulds well to the foot.I was not looking forward to getting new boots - after a few short walks and a longer one today - I am more relaxed. Will they last ten years??

I ordered the Berghaus Supalite II Gtx on Feb 1, 2017. It was used sparingly at first and it had a very soft squeak. As time went on, it started to get louder and louder. It is now between 80-100 miles old and it sounds like the bullfrog in the BUD-light beer ad. The automated 30 day return/replace policy caused there to be no online return options. I contacted Berghaus, but they referred me back to Amazon. I eventually found a customer services phone number: 0800 279 7234. In less than 10 minutes, I was sorted out with a returns label and a replacement on its way. About the boot: This model is the equivalent of the Brasher Supalite. It is a fantastic boot and Berghaus has improved on it by adding a Vibram sole.I sincerely hope that the replacement is silent and that it will last more than the 1000 miles the Brashers did, which for a Supalite boot is exceptional.

Been walking the dog for an hour every day, for the last 8 years. Through my local woods.Previously bought big brand gortex boots around the same price. But none all leather!Every pair have given has given up the ghost between 7 and 14 months. With replacement pairs (some under warranty failing over the same period). They normally go around the toe reinforcement and down the outer edge of the boot where your toes bend. These new boots fitted well (size 9) and took about two weeks of walking, to bed in.After which they have been extremely comfortable, completely water proof and 7 months on, show little wear.I have regularly cleaned and treated with natural beeswax. These are without question thebest boots I've ever bought and look forward to many more comfortable miles and years of walking in them.Couldn't recommend these enough.

I have worn Berghaus / Brasher Supalite II boots for many years (these are my third pair) and have trekked around Annapurna and the Himalayas in them very successfully, with no problems, as well as using them on several long distance walks carrying a reasonably heavy rucksack in the UK. One must be aware that they are quite a narrow fit compared with the Hillmaster Boots, which I have also used for many years, but they are lovely and light, soft and very flexible. Very comfortable. If you are carrying a heavy rucksack and need good angle support then you will probably be better purchasing Berghaus Hillmaster II boots, but for lightweight trekking these are superb.I found that the heels and soles of the earlier Brasher Supalite boots used to wear very quickly but these now have improved Vibram soles. Wonderful boots.

Ever since Brasher Supalites came onto the market decades ago, I wore nothing else. They were brilliant, if short-lived. Comfortable from the first minute, waterproof and perfect for rough mountain terrain. Then they were bought out by Berghaus and disaster struck. They stopped making my favourite boot. I searched vainly for anything in the same league - in vain. Italian Goretex boots leaked from day one, others weighed like lead and the Berghaus alternative was like wearing clogs. Then I discovered that Berghaus had seen the light, no doubt due to dwindling customers for their flashy looking but uncomfortable replacement, and brought back MY boots - with Vibram soles as well!So I'm back smiling. It's too early to comment on their lifetime but I'm keeping my fingers crossed .......

These are the most comfortable boots I have ever found and I have been wearing them for about 10 years. However they were never particularly durable. They used to fall apart and start leaking water (when e.g. walking in wet grass; I am not talking about rivers!) after a couple of years. The last two pairs I have had lasted under a year, and on the very last one, one of the soles came right off, with only about 1/3 wear on the sole. Obviously it was not glued on properly. Also one recently purchased pair had a defect inside which gave me a blister. The company was non-responsive so I just sent them back via Amazon and that seems to be the best way.I will from now on be sending back to Amazon any of these boots that fall apart within a year without much wear on them.

I have been using Brasher Superlites for many many years. The design of the lacing has had a small small change over the years, but apart from that, they remain constant to the original design. I admit to worrying that the change from Brasher to Berghaus might result in an unnecessary "Upgrading" of the boots, but Berghause have obviously realised perfection can't be improved upon and kept the status quo. These boots remain the most comfortable I have ever worn. However I do like to hedge my bets and stay a pair in front, so this latest purchase will now go into cold staorage until required...I'm afraid I can't give less than five stars and I do admit to a bias.JC

Without doubt these are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn.I have endless problems with my feet which seem to ache daily no matter what I wear or what I do.These boots are an absolute dream. The comfort is off the chart. Buttery soft leather tongue, beautiful soft liner with top quality leather outer.I cannot believe how incredibly light they are, the sole is grippy.I have not put the GORTEX fully to the test yet but given the obvious quality I have confidence they will keep my feet dry.

I have had these boots for nearly two weeks and have used them every day for walking the dogs.I have found them to be very comfortable and light they also look good and keep my feet dry.One of the best points for me is the ease you can lace and unlace the boots using the hooks which makes it so easy to slip them on and off.Ordered size 10 and they were spot on.I previously purchased and wore cheaper boots but feel these boots are the best I have ever had and are excellent value for money.

These are only just arrived. I was not expecting them to be the same quality as the old brasher boots i also have that are wearing out. Not only are the y looking as good, they look very well made and so i will use and test them and remark again once i have a full review, so far though, i can say that i am impressed with the build quality and fit, and the grip is astounding, as i do rock and hill work walking i know i will feel comfortable in these

I first bought a pair of Brasher GTX goretex approximately 10 years ago and they are just starting to crack on the fold above the toes, the soles are still with lots of grip and the are still 100 % waterproof, I wear them now in the garden, they are like an old friend ...4 years ago I bought some Scarpa boots but almost double the price , similar boot but heavier on the long walks , yesterday I purchased another pair of Brasher / Berghaus GTX

I bought a pair of these for three weeks walking around Peru, including hiking the four day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, up/down Montana Huayna Picchu and around a few islands on Lake Titicaca. Very light and an extremely comfortable fit with two pairs of Sorbothane Full Strike insoles and a pair of OdorEaters Super Tuff insoles and 1000 Mile Fusion walking socks with built-in liner - no blisters! Vibram soles worked well on slippery wet rock.

After owning several pairs of walking boots which had deteriorated within 12-18 months through normal wear I wanted a pair of good quality, long-lasting and waterproof (very important) walking boots that would be worn every day in all weather. I contacted Berghaus who recommended these boots for their durability and waterproofness. So far during all weather in late Autumn and early Winter these boots have been fantastic, highly recommended.
