I was sent the Carbon/Rubber model for testing. While not a colour combination I would have made my first choice, I have grown to quite like it. It will prove noticeable on the hill, which is important should you get into trouble, as well as on the road whilst on dog walking duty. This colour combination also has the added advantage of being the cheapest in the range. Something worth bearing in mind. The Gore Tex material is excellent for keeping the water out and the stitching and finish of the seams is well up to the usual Berghaus high standards. The material also makes little noise as you move about; a bonus if you are a nature watcher. It has a good hood which is not designed to fold away.As well as a good sized, zipped inside pocket, it has two external hand-warmer pockets. These are also zipped and covered to keep the rain out. They are also nice and cosy for your hands. The sleeves are quite long, but this is intentional as this offers greater hand protection in inclement weather. The cuffs can be adjusted as required. I find the additional seams at the elbows offer a better fit and greater freedom of arm movement. The overall design is minimal and trending towards a slimmer fit which gives greater control when exposed to strong winds on the hill. You can combine it with an internal fleece lining. The fleece is an optional extra which zips inside the outer Gore Tex shell. If you intend using such a combination, I would advise that you go up one size as far as the jacket is concerned. Otherwise the combination might prove too snug. Only small niggle is that the main zip is not two-way. Given that the jacket is shorter than some and is styled to reach the hips, again for ease of hill movement, this is not major issue. While designed for the hill, it will give great service in town too.

I have worn Berghaus Goretex jackets for 25 years since the original Cornice Interactive Jacket first came out. This new jacket is blend of dark grey and brown that looks very smart as well as being extremely practical.It is designed to be worn in conditions where rain is likely and features a “full time” hood that doesn’t roll away under a collar. This has an advantage that there is no compromise in the design of the hood, which works superbly, creating a protection from the elements and shielding my glasses from the worst of the weather. However, this does mean that it is very much a dedicated jacket for outdoors activities whereas I can wear my black Berghaus Cornice over a suit and it stilllooks relatively smart.The outside pockets are capacious and ideal for keeping small items or your hands warm. The jacket also has a highly protected “map” pocket, which is large enough to keep an iPhone X inside an aquapac waterproof housing and still have room for a portable charger. Ideal when using downloaded OS maps and GPS navigation.The jacket is a real pleasure to wear. It is really comfortable, breathable and warm enough by itself for mild autumn days. The interactive system means that a choice of either Polartec classic or Polartec thermal pro fleeces can be added for greater warmth in winter months.The only slight downside of this jacket compared to my Cornice is that the zip on this jacket does not open up at the bottom. However, I found it perfectly comfortable when sitting down on a chair or driving and didn’t miss this feature.

Berghaus jackets are pretty much the gold standard for outdoor walking jackets. They may come at a premium price, but you can't do better if you want to walk the British countryside and be protected from whatever the weather might throw at you.I think the Carbon/Rubber version which I have is very smart looking. Of the available colour combinations, it's certainly my favourite. I have the version without the liner, and it is very lightweight and sufficiently roomy to allow you to wear a fleece underneath. It has a number of zipped pockets. The collar comes right up under your chin, and with the hood in place you're very well protected from the elements. Waterproofing is fantastic.Sizing and cut is something to consider.The "Large" is just that; not huge if you're wearing layers underneath. I found it cut quite tight under the arms, and the arms themselves were quite long. As this coat is quite an investment, you'd ideally want to try it before you buy. Or be prepared to return it for a replacement if the fit isn't quite to your liking.However, with that one caveat over the fit, this is a fantastic outdoor coat that will be ideal for anyone who likes to walk in all weathers.

Good value is not a term I’m used to using when it comes to Berghaus. I always used to think there was a significant premium associated with Berghaus gear. And maybe there still is to some extent. But it’s not apparent with this particular jacket.It’s clearly towards the cheaper end of their range - there are no underarm zips for ventilation, and the hood is a single piece with no extra poppers to close it up more. But it is still a 3-in-1 compatible jacket, so you can zip a compatible fleece into it for extra warmth. And it has two nice deep side pockets, plus a zipped inside pocket, so there’s decent carrying capacity.Having been caught in a pretty heavy downpour already while wearing it,I can confirm it’s waterproof, and the vast majority of the rain made satisfying beads and ran off it while I wore it.It seems like a good fit too - not too baggy, not too skinny, and pretty true to size.So, yes, this really is a decent value Berghaus, comfortable to wear, versatile, and waterproof. Recommended.

Purchased this coat along with a Northface one, this was the one I kept.It is very water proof without feeling plasticy being made of gortex the coat is breathable stopping you from getting damp under the coat.The coat offers fantastic protection from the wind and rain with the hood covering the face and when zipped up even the strongest wind doesn't blow the hood down.Another plus of this coat is the sleeve length is long as I usually struggle to find coats with sufficient length in the sleeve.The only thing I will mention is that the coat is a lot warmer with the berghaus fleece, the fleece zips inside the coat so fits really well.The only downside to the fleece is when it's attached to the jacket I find it's very hard to get the coat on when wearing a shirt as it pulls the fleece out the end of the sleeves as I put it on. Tad frustrating but not a deal breaker for such a warm dry coat.The coat is also machine washable at 30 degrees.

This is a second purchase of the Berghaus Fellmaster Jacket from Amazon, I originally bought one back in 2017 time, but this year's model has a bonus - there is an interactive zip to fit an inner fleece in colder weather added on the 2019 model. This jacket fits me very well, and is Waterproof and Breathable. It is fully lined with silky soft satin, and NOT with cheap looking net as some other lesser jackets are, and has two very deep satin-lined hand pockets high up on the chest for a more fashionable look. There is a deep A5 sized satin-lined zipped internal map pocket too. All three pockets are much deeper than on my old Berghaus 2005 Gore-Tex jacket. The smooth pocket linings give a Hygienic finish,with nothing to trap dirt and bacteria off the hands, therefore a better product all round. I strongly recommend this jacket, and it is well worth ordering one for yourself too.

It's a great jacket, completely waterproof and sweat proof. I wear it on pretty much every wall I do unless it's a warm day which is highly unlikely in Wales. It even keeps me warm too, but my hikes are walking up big mountains, if doing a slow walk along a canal with your granny it might not. Got the 2 shade blue one as it was on offer, probably due to an unpopular colour, but I could give a crap about how I look, I care about staying dry, plus it don't look bad tbh. Ps the pockets are nice and deep, and a big inside pocket for os map. Hood allows for adjusting when up too, a nice feature for whwn it's windy

This is absolutely just what i was looking for: I know it's described as for hill-walking, but it's absolutely perfect for dog-walking too! Love the colour, and the finish and feel is top-notch. On the pricey side, perhaps, but you do get what you pay for and the integrated zipped pockets are both roomy and beautifully hidden. The integrated hood is, for me, perfect: it protects both from wind AND from rain. A fantastic jacket that comes with a life-time guarantee: what's not to like?

I decided to buy this jacket from Amazon after trying it on in a shop due to the lower price and larger selection of colours available. In my opinion, I think the black / grey option looks a lot smarter than the red / blue option that I had seen in stores. I like the fact that it is waterproof and is compatible with interactive layers. I would recommend buying the Berghaus Prism Polartec fleece jacket that can zip into this jacket to make it warmer during winter months.

Received really fast delivery ! Jacket looks amazing and is well made. Needed a new jacket as i go on dog walks and need to stay dry off rain. The jacket is perfect as a singular jacket for windproof an rain use an also can be really warm thanks to and interactive fleece. Bought as a discount. Really pleased with the jacket as it keeps me bone dry and warm with a fleece. The hood is perfect as it snugs onto you're neck. Highly recommend this jacket !! Quality !

This jacket has a nice comfortable fit, although I found the sleeves rather long. I am 5ft 11in and I bought a large size. This is not a particular problem for me but may be something to consider when buying. My value for money rating is 4 , and perhaps justifies 5 stars, but as I have not given it a hard workout on the hills I do not know how it will stand up to a Highland hill storm. I suspect it will work perfectly.

A superb brand that always comes up trumps in quality. I was very pleased to be offered this coat to review, coming just at the time I needed for the coming winter, and daily dog-walking. I really can’t fault this coat at all. I do particularly like the length of the coat at the back. Certainly this jacket is built to cope with any wintry conditions. 100% recommended - stylish yet also durable and rugged.

I have purchased Berghaus coats before and have always been impressed, this coat is no different. It feels quality material and is completely waterproof, I've been out in heavy rain and I came home completely dry. I had an old Berghaus fleece that fitted perfectly to the inside zips keeping me warm aswell as dry. Lovely fit too, overall a great coat and worth the price.

This coat is perfect for every day use and superb in stormy rainy conditions. Living in the UK means it's WET but not always cold. I advise buying a size where you have room to where a fleece underneath on colder days, but for the majority this coat is ideal.Looks good, not heavy and you don't get to warm but the waterproofness is 100%I love mine!
