Firstly I am not a seasoned hiker or anything but getting close to retirement age I am planning to do some walking in the future. I have had my eye on these for a while and remained undecided whether to purchase or not until on passing I noticed these had been discounted and more affordable for my budget. I am a Berghaus fan having owned several waterproof coats that have faired very well in terms of remaining resistant to water and have worn well.I expect the same from these but during the current dry spell haven’t yet had the opportunity to confirm?If they don’t do the job as intended I will come back and let you know?I am 5ft 11 ins tall and the inside leg measurement I have chosen is 31 ins.

This is my third pair of waterproof overtrousers. The first pair, mountain hardware, were excellent, bout wore out around the crotch after two years of regular use, the second pair were lightweight marmot gear, probably ideal if you are up a mountain with a heavy pack every so often, but too wimpy for regular use (they failed after a little over a year of reglar use walking dogs for about an hour a day, when wet, which is about half the time here, and tore at the sight of a gorse bush).Consequently I was on the lookout for something that was either very hardwearing but breathable, or cheap and easily replaceable. So far these have proved to be tough, breathable and modestly priced.

After previously purchasing a Berghaus Spectrum fleece that was fine to start with but then started pilling quickly, I decided to wait a few months before writing a review on this. Too many reviews are written very soon after purchase and don't give you an accurate idea of how well something will last.So now, 12 months after purchase I can safely say that this has worn very well indeed. It's had almost daily wear since then, but I don't live in it. It's light, warm and comfortable and is my go-to jacket for everyday wear. At its best in spring and autumn, or under a waterproof in winter. Only when things warm up in summer would I not wear it.I think the lynchpin of its success is the fact that they have used proper Polartec fleece in this jacket.

I have just finished walking a very wet West Highland Way in these Berghaus Deluge waterproof over trousers, and they are appropriately named because it rained a Deluge for the most part of our 6 day adventure and I remained completely dry underneath. I was also wearing the Berghaus Deluge waterproof shell jacket which I would also recommend for all the same reasons. These products are made to a very high quality, are comfortable yet feel fairly rugged. Just remember, these are only waterproofs, so you may need some extra layers underneath for warmth, but I found a simple tracksuit bottom and a double layer of long sleeve T shirts was more than enough to keep me warm during early October in Scotland.

I bought it mostly for city wear, to keep the rain out and also as a wind-shielding and jeans-protecting layer when cycling in the cold of night.I find it easy to get the pants on and off over shoes. I like the matt polyester finish on the outer, made possible because the waterproofing is from a gortex membrane bonded to the polyester. This is much better than my old waterproof garments that used a DWR finish which can rub off with friction (e.g. from cycling), look shinier, and need maintenance with special hand-washing liquids and renewal sprays.Loses a star for a combintion of the following: They are overtrousers, so expect some bagginess. These are a performance item, not a fashion item,

I use reviews to help me decide on purchases and in the past many of the reviews have not been so acurate so i was not confident how these would perform in reality.First test i used them over a pair of chinos so you can see if they leak. I went outside in one of the many typhoons we have in japan. after 10 minutes i came back in and completely dry. passed first test!Second test i rode my motorcycle in the rain, which is the same as being sprayed with a hose pipe. once again after 30 minutes no leaks or water penetration. passed second test.Third test up in the mountains in heavy rain hiking, had boots with spats on and these trousers over the top. Dry as a bone!

Purchased the Large-33.They pack down fairly well; the side zip comes up from the ankle to mid hip so it is possible to access pockets in the trousers/shorts underneath. Second to keeping you dry they are very easy to remove/put-on without the need to take off walking boots, with more than enough space to avoid covering the inside of them in mud from the boots as well.All in all excellent value for money. If I could change anything on them I'd probably have included a stuff sock for it, side pockets as well... but at sub £50 they do their job well.While I fit smack in the middle of a 32-34 waist, I had to chose between medium & large; given it is an over trouser and some comments had suggested ensure you go up in size rather than down if borderline I went for the large,

My second pair of these Berghaus waterproof trousers, the first pair lasting for over 8 years of quite heavy use which is recommendation in its own right, so I had no qualms about buying then again.Made of fairly lightweight and importantly waterproof material they easily slip on over jeans or walking trousers and are not that restrictive in movement. They have a full length leg zip with poppers which allows them to be put on quickly over walking boots which saves a lot of angst in sudden inclement weather. The waist is elasticated and the quoted sizing seems fairly accurate but there is one or two inches of leeway either side of your waist measurement.

Initially bought the medium after trying some on over my jeans in a local outdoor shop. Ordered from amazon as a very good price (£50 on the high street). After receiving them I tried them over my winter line outdoor trousers and found them very snug, so I ordered a large pair and these were much better. If I was just using them for walking the medium would have been okay, however I found with the slightly larger size I had more freedom of movement, I am training to become a forest school leader and these are perfect and comfortable to wear, they look hard-wearing to. I'm 6ft and the regular length was perfect, fit nicely over my walking boots to keep everything protected from the wet.

I bought these for my bicycle commute and have found them to live up to their claims. I have worn them several times in very heavy rain, and have remained bone dry. They are highly breathable, as in the past, using my old Trespass waterproof over trousers, my cycle tights would be quite wet from condensation, even though they were rated at 5,000 for breathability, but this has not been a problem with the Berghaus. They are easy to put on and take off, due to the side zips, and they are quite light. The only criticism I have is that a dedicated storage bag was not provided with them, which I found a bit stingy considering the relatively high cost. However, I can live with this,

Very pleased with these waterproof trousers. I have already braved the howling winds, sleet, hail, rain and snow in them and they've done their job well. The fit is just right and they are very comfortable to wear. They feature a 3/4 length side leg zip, which opens from top and bottom. Making it easy to put the on over large boots. There's also a venting system in the leg to make them very breathable and a standard elasticated waist with draw cord. The only downside to these trousers is the lack of pockets or a front zipper. However that's not a huge issue with waterproof trousers due to the elasticated waist.If you're wondering about sizes then do what I did and visit berghaus.com and search for the deluge over trousers.

I really like these rain trousers.Mine arrived when expected and with no packaging problems.They feel good quality and fit well. The zip on the legs covered by poppered flap runs from the ankle all the way up to the top of the thigh and is zippered top and bottom. This makes them very easy to get over walking boots and means you have great access to the pockets of the trousers you have on underneath.I have had the misfortune of having to walk in a very heavy storm and thankfully these trousers remained waterproof ( unlike my very expensive jacket not from the same manufacturer that leaked like a sieve ) and didn't get sweaty and stayed comfortable.

I purchased this item on 23/09/2015. This is a very good jacket. Unfortunately the seams have started to come apart on the left hand raglansleeve.Try as I may I cannot contact Amazon to ask for a replacement because it outwith their returns period.There doesn't seem to be a mechanism in place to deal with faulty merchandise after this return period.Surely an item such as this should last longer than 3-4 months.Is this deliberate I wonder!!!OOPS I WAS TOO QUICK WRITING THE ABOVE!!I continued searching and found a telephone service that connected me to Amazons Customer Services who allowed me to print off a Returns Label and sanctioned a refund. I will be reordering the jacket as it is a very good item.

I bought these as motorcycle overtrousers. I've ridden once in the rain with them on and no damp patches so I'd say that they are waterproof.They are noisy to walk in but that doesn't bother me.I'd say that they are a little on the short side though. I am normally a 32 leg so I selected 34" from the dropdown as I noted that the knees were not articulated and I knew that the trousers would ride up when seated on the bike. Unfortunately however the bottom of my 32 leg jeans do sit below the leg of the overtrousers so I can only assume that they are a little on the short side.If it helps anyone, I am a 34 waist and ordered XL and they are a comfortably loose fit when what over fairly thick motorbike jeans.To summarise,

I am confident in Berghaus as you would expect and these overtrousers do not disappoint. They kept out the rain, splashes from the becks and biting cold wind. I sweated a lot in places (I can sweat for Britain) and the breathable fabric seemed to be just that, no damp patches from condensation inside the Deluges.These are replacing overtrousers from another well known manufacturer that was so mean with the side zips that I had to take off my boots to put them on - not recommended in a downpour. The generous zip on the Deluges means that they have no such problems.I was in two minds when I ordered these because of the low price, but now am considering buying a spare pair before they raise the price to nearer what the trousers are worth.
