Initial impression of this jacket are extremely positive. It’s described as a carbon colour and it’s akin to a charcoal grey colour with the Berghaus logo on front and gore-tex on one sleeve. The inside layer is a lighter grey colouring.Initial observations are that it’s very lightweight and can fold down into something that can easily be held within the palm of one hand, so very compact and easy to store when either not in use or being carried about. No loop for hanging though.Secondly observation is that it’s made of gore-tex, meaning it’s construction is such that it’s supposed to be 100% waterproof whilst remaining incredibly breathable. Also, the gore-tex does have a soft and premium feel to it.It’s a big jacket, with room for thermals underneath. The sleeves are a tad large and baggy, but an accepted sacrifice when wearing this jacket, especially as they’re probably designed so that they do not ride up when you raise your arms. The cuffs can be sealed tighter using the Velcro cuffs. It has only 2 pockets - external zipped pull fastening pockets that are indeed waterproof. No inside pockets whatsoever. The waist can be tightened via the drawstring, as can the hood as it’s adjustable at both the back (adjusting the hood volume) and the sides, also via drawstring.Performance in wet weather - excellent. It performed extremely well, holding the rain at bay, which is its sole job. Given that it’s gore-tex, this is no surprise.Fit is good and allows for layers underneath. It’s a tad longer than an average length coat but not too long.Build quality is outstanding and I understand why Berghaus back this jacket with a lifetime guarantee. You will not want for a different shell jacket ?

I have been using this jacket on the way to work on these windy winter cold days on the way to and from work. I must say that for a jacket that is so lightweight, it certainly provides unrivalled protection from the elements such as large gusts of wind and light rain! Although it isn’t the warmest of jackets, so if it’s cold I’d suggest wearing a few warm layers of clothing.I usually order M/L and decided to grab this beautiful jacket in Large. It fits me perfectly, no issues here! Whilst you’re fighting the elements, you will be doing this in style too! I took the Black colour variation and have had nothing but compliments both on the streets and at work whilst wearing it.It is both simple yet elegant and fits my frame perfectly well. It is also versatile and can be worn with many different styles of outfits, whether that be casual wear or smart/causal!This jacket also has an adjustable hoodie (and wrist straps) as well as 2 pockets that zip up well. When this jacket is zipped all the way up, it provides good protection to the neck from the weather, and this helps to keep a regulated warmth whilst you are outside. Whether this jacket is for exploring the wild or going to work, it has you covered! I personally would certainly recommend! The quality of every attribute of this jacket will be sure to last you a lifetime, if not longer! :) although I would say that this jacket is more suitable for Autumn/Spring wear than Winter.Thank you for reading my honest review, I hope you found it helpful! :)

This is a perfect jacket for keeping dry in. Being Gore-Tex it offers superior waterproof abilities. There is "waterproof" and then there is Gore-Tex. This jacket is just impenetrable to water ingress. And I have been testing that in the November weather along the South East Cornish coastline.Wearing this jacket has been good for me as not only is the waterproofing exceptional , I have found that whilst climbing steep inclines and getting warmer that it still breathable making it quite comfortable to wear in practical use.It is also very lightweight so it feels like you're not even wearing it. Despite it's minimal weight, it is very windproof and makes a wonderful wind cheater.I like how secure it is.The sleeves are adjustable with velcro straps. Along with the drawstrings at the waist and on the hood. It really makes it become very snug. The zip line is protected beneath it with extra waterproof material, this hampers and slows down doing up the zip as you need to be careful not to catch it in the zipper, but overall the extra protection is welcome.Inside, I noticed how all the seams have extra reinforced material. I miss the coat hook and I have to rely on using the hood on a peg which is worrying. The pockets are deep, my Galaxy S20 Ultra, which is a huge smartphone fits in it easily. Zipped up. And they're waterproof too.Sizing is good and realistic. I got a Large and it is plenty big enough for me, even to wear numerous layers beneath. I am six foot and 14 stone, with broad shoulders.

Berghaus, like Rohan, has a deserved reputation for producing some technically superb outdoor clothing and this latest incarnation of their Packlite jacket is no exception. This jacket is almost unbelievably light and folds up very small, so it won't take up much space in even a modestly sized day-pack.The XL was a good fit for my 6ft 3" frame, with perfect arm length and is generously enough cut to allow a wicking base layer and a micro-fleece in colder weather. The Velcro cinches at the cuffs do their job very well, as does the drawstring one at the waist to pull it snugly tight for wind proofing. The hood is a generous size and can be tightened slightly by a drawstring cinch at the rear (see photo 3).Not worn yet in any substantial rain but, given the properties of Gore-Tex, I would expect it to behave very well.Only points of criticism are the absence of any interior security pockets (something that Rohan always provide in abundance), there is no loop to hang the jacket up and the hood cannot be folded or zipped away, so it is likely to flap around on windy days. You do pay something of a premium for Berghaus products, but you always feel reassured that you're buying quality gear, designed to enhance your enjoyment of the great outdoors. This Paclite 2.0 is, undeniably a very good shell jacket. With a couple of minor enhancements, it could have been a truly great jacket.Despite a couple of minor criticisms, I'm still very pleased with my Paclite 2.0 jacket and am happy to recommend it.

An excellent lightweight waterproof jacket by Berghaus!I really like the fit of this jacket, fits closely to the body and looks very smart as a smart casual jacket with jeans. But will also keep you nice and dry up in the hills on a camp or hike with its incredible waterproof Gore-tex fabric.I really like the hood on this jacket, it's adjustable and doesn't fall over your eyes like some hooded jackets, so you have adequate water protection plus good visibility out of the hood.I've owned a lot of Berghaus jackets over the years, I like the neck guard you get on some of the larger jackets that have the zip flap too, this doesn't have that ,but there is some protection near your chin so it still does the job. It's a double layer Gore-tex jacket with fully taped seams, the build quality is superb, there are no inner pockets though which is a shame, I always like to have at least one.But the pockets on this coat are quite spacious and the zippers are solid and work really well. This is a perfect jacket to take wild camping or hiking, it's under 400g in weight so very lightweight and extremely packable the aptly named paclite 2.0.It would be no hardship to take this on a hike or camp packed away in your rucksack incase of an unsuspected downpour and it's very much up to the job of keeping you nice and dry.Would definitely recommend this jacket it's a belter, superb quality from Berghaus!

This is a good and extremely lightweight waterproof jacket that folds down to a nicely compact size to allow it to be transported. In addition to the waterproof outer the jacket has been waterproofed on the inside, with all of the seams backed so that they don’t allow moisture through. There’s a decent overlap of fabric beneath the zip, and the top of the pull slides into a fabric cover. The sleeves are on the wide side, but at the cuffs can be adjusted with hook and loop tape to tighten them at the wrists to help exclude water. The hood has drawstring adjusters to tighten it around the wearer. The roomy pockets have zip pull fastenings and the seams for these are waterproof-backed like the rest of the coat.Unlike other coats and jackets I have seen from this brand, this one doesn’t have any pockets in the lining – presumably to preserve the integrity of the waterproofing. The jacket is extremely lightweight, but quite warm with it – it’s so successfully waterproof that it’s not the most breathable of garments. Branding is present, but generally reasonably subtle. The fit, on my XL wearing brother, is pretty good. Not too wide, but generous enough to allow for fairly chunky layers underneath. This is a smidgeon long in both body and sleeves on my 5’10” bro (the tall one of my family), but not enough to impede him when he’s wearing it.

I have been using this coat for the past month in some quite harsh rain and it’s yet to let any water in. It’s made of 100% polyester with ePTFE membrane. While this coat is great at keeping water out, if you sweat like I do while out walking it also keeps moisture in so you can still get clammy if your doing anything strenuous. This is a good shell for throwing on in those sudden downpours. It’s very light at 339 grams. The zips and hood is very good, also the hood can be tightened to fit most heads. Under the logo at the back of the hood there’s an extra bit of adjustment for those that may need it. The two pockets on the sides are actually big enough to fit OS explorer maps in so there’s plenty of room in them.I’m 5ft 8 and weigh about 15 stone and the large fits perfectly there’s still plenty of room for extra layers underneath if needed. The cuffs are probably the one part I don’t like on it. Although they are adjustable and can tighten up, they just seem to be way to big to begin with . I guess if you have a padded jacket under the coat this would be good for that. Wash at 30 degrees with a non-biological washing powder. Do not use fabric softener. Rinse with cold water I let it air dry and you should be good to go again.Overall I like this coat and it’s replaced an aged one I had for about 15 years!

This jacket is incredibly lightweight - taking it out of the box it just felt light, and that was confirmed by my scales - 378g for the XL version, compared to 572g for my Mountain Equipment 3 layer Goretex technical jacket. Some of that is down to the minimalist feature set; there is no map pocket, inside pocket, storm flap, double main zip, or wiring in the peak, and a minimal beard guard (careful!!).However, the build quality & fit is still what you'd expect from Burhaus - fantastic. All the seams are taped. The cut is great, which helps reduce bellowing of your nice warm dry air out of the jacket. The arms are cut high, which means the jacket doesn't ride up when you raise your arms, and there is full freedom of movement. The wrists have velcro adjustment tabs. The hand pocket zippers both have covered recesses, all the zippers have tabs for gloved operation, and they're all YKK, so they'll last. The hood has volume adjustment, which is nicely hidden by a flap, as well as elastic to cinch around your face, which makes for a good fit, even if there isn't a wired peak. For the majority of people for the majority of the time, this is all the jacket you'll need out and about or on the hills, and it weighs absolutely nothing.

This is a very well made jacket but I was initially shocked that is so thin. There is no padded lining or even a thin lining - it is purely an outer jacket.Fit was as expected for a Large and I liked the overall design aesthetic. There is no breast or internal pocket which was a bit of a shame but you do get two zipped side pockets.I can confirm that it is definitely waterproof though.I wore it out on a walk in what started as steady rain and then ended up as torrential rain and no water permeated the jacket at all. I even wore a grey T-shirt underneath to highlight any leaks and when I removed the jacket at home, the T-shirt was dry as a bone.I've included a number of photos as well as a video of it out in the rain and that highlights how the water just beads up and runs off the fabric. The only downside to this fantastic waterproofing is that if you are wearing jeans or other non waterproof trousers then all this water just runs off the jacket and onto your legs! My jeans were soaked at the end of our walk.Little Tip - put the hood up before you do the zip all the way up as I couldn't get the hood up over my head without undoing the zip.A fantastic waterproof jacket.

My first impressions of the jacket was how light it was, the Berghaus Men's Paclite 2.0 Gore-tex is very light weighing only 347g in a large size. The material is very soft with a premium feel to it, its 100% polyester shell (no lining) it feels comfy on with plenty of room for layering. The Jacket is a standard fit not an active fit, the sleeves are a tad on the large side with plenty of room on the shoulders and the length and are adjusted with Velcro cuffs. The jacket is super packable for day trips you wont know its there. The jacket has 2 zipped front pockets and a fixed hood that is adjustable at the sides and at the back, the waist can be adjusted with a drawstring also.Branding to the front chest and at the back of the hood with Gore-Tex detail to the bottom of the sleeve.Ensure the front zip baffle is behind the zip when doing the jacket up or you may get a bit of leakage.I have tested this jacket over the past few weeks in abysmal weather and it has performed really well, overall I'm very happy as to be expected with the quality of Berghaus, thank you.

So far I am quite happy about this Jacket. Been out with it for a few walks and a bicycle ride through the shower rains , and one quite strong one. And it kept me dry, although on a stronger rains you can feel it the humidity going through the material. And making a second layer a bit wet. Plus it does not protect you from really strong wind, as it goes through easily, so need to wear something warm underneath. Nevertheless, on lower strength wind and rain it should be perfectly fine, and it will protect you sufficiently. The jacket size is quite good. As I got XL, it fitted me perfectly and I even have some extra space, for then wearing a flees underneath, and it does not feel tight which is really great and makes it very comfortable for long walks. Moreover, it is really light and compatible as folded neatly it can be in the size of a notebook. It has two pockets with zips for your valuables. Overall, it is not a bad jacket which will protect you from showers and a bit of wind on short walks. However, for this price, i would have expected a bit more from this jacket.

I cannot recommend this highly enough! It is lightweight, easy to pack into the smallest of backpacks and will save the day should you be caught in a downpour unexpectedly! It will most certainly keep you dry and you will not be sweating on the inside! It is also windproof and will keep you warm, despite its delicate and almost weightless nature! Highly recommended! This is not our first Berghaus and if initially I was always asking why on Earth it was so expensive, now I know that it is not the type of garment that is just comfy, sporty, well-made, functional as can be, but it is literally the garment that is designed to last a lifetime...or longer!I actually still have a jacket that used to belong to my older sister and is literally older than I am! Literally!Just click BUY NOW!Sizewise - we normally go for medium, this is large and it fits perfectly well, still abit of room for a T-shirt and maybe a vest, if you wanted to layer up.Definitely a jacket to invest in! This is not just for one season - Berghaus is for life! Guaranteed!

This is just a rain proofing coat, so thermally it doesn't offer much warmth, but it isn't meant to. This is designed to be kept in your backpack, or even pocket if you are good at folding to give you quick waterproofing as required. The waterproofing on the jacket is excellent with full water repellence but as with any coat, the more its folded and crushed, this will worsen over time and will need regular applications of waterproofing to keep performance up. The seams and seals are spot on and out the box water performance was excellent. I like the fact its so light weight as it is ideal for lightweight walking where you are expecting poor weather and its warm enough with normal thermal layer precautions. The breathability is ok, but I would only be wearing this during the rain, as you may find it uncomfortable to wear once its ceased if your core temperature is elevated or you are high physical exertion. A good addition to any walkers kit and great weight means that it won't bulk you out in you lightweight bag.

Berghaus are a big name when it comes to outdoor wear so I was interested to see what they could do when it came to gore-tex jackets. This promises to be ultra light weight and waterproof for those times when you don’t want to carry too much.Size wise, this comes up larger than others I’ve tried - particularly with longer sleeves, more room round the chest and longer than expected. The latter is appreciated when wearing it in the rain as some that come up short just move the water onto your trousers. The jacket is lightweight, to the point where there is no hanging hook on the inside and only the two external pockets - though both are large. Quality wise, the zips look good as do all of the seams and the hood is attached in a way that you can use it to cover you effectively. I didn’t try it over an extended period of time in the wet but it was successful in keeping me dry.Overall then it is a good quality jacket that will keep you dry - it’s a little large but compensate for that and you’ll be fine.

Berghaus is a high-quality premium brand, and so you end up paying a bit more for their products. This jacket is no different, it's a fantastic rain-jacket but at £85 is very pricey, so is it worth it?For me, yes. It's very comfortable, though the arms and hood seem a little on the big side, but there's no harm in having a bit more protection in the rain. It's extremely thin and lightweight so a great choice to have stuffed into your bad should the heavens open.So far as I can tell, from four trips out in heavy rain, it's 100% waterproof. Not once did I get wet and I could see the rain actually beading on the fabric. The zips are good as nothing got into the pockets or down the chest - I had a grey T-shirt on so would've seen.My only gripe is that it's not very warm. There's no internal lining, but then again it's not billed as a winter jacket just a waterproof one.
