I bought this jacket to use on the run because I wanted something a bit thicker than a usual running jacket for running when it is icy cold. The jacket label actually said it was designed with runners in mind as well as moutaineering etc although I must admit to having a few doubts when I opened up my wallet.Certainly it has functioned perfectly well for the purpose I bought it for. I wear it under a merino wool underlayer and it keeps me dry and warm but without getting overheated when the temperature has been close to zero. It's comfy to run in, (no painful seams or sticky-outy bits) the pockets are much much bigger than most running jackets (partly the reason I chose it).It doesnt have as many reflective strips as a typical runners jacket but that doesn't affect me.I think given the price it's a really good buy, and looks like it will be hard wearing.

To be honest I have not put this jacket to the ultimate test, ie: Fell walking in the lake district in cold weather. It fits, looks good and certainly feels warm when walking in the locality, the design is impressive and well thought out, it weighs almost nothing and packs into a small ball.Labels attached to the Jacket are Primaloft and Pertex Microlight so if you are interested in this jacket look these 2 things up on the internet. The coat is described as shower proof but will get wet in heavy rain, it is claimed that should it get wet it will still retain the warmth and is quick to dry. This claim will soon be put to the test and if it is not up to the high rating other reviewers give it Iwill be back !

I was looking for a down jacket and my brother suggested this. Read reviews and info about permaloft but was sceptical so went to have a look at one at my local go outdoors shop. Spoke to a member of staff who said it was one of the best jackets he had ever owned and far better than down, it was £100. Found this one on Amazon fro £63 so bought. Amazing, everyone is right. So light and incredibly warm, wind doesn't penetrate at all, it's hardto believe until you try it. Since losing 8 stone 2 years ago I really feel the cold now and this jacket is awesome, I will be buying anther one in a different colour. This electric blue one is really nice.

Early days and will provide an update review but first impressions are that this is a great jacket for the price (I paid £75) and fills in a gap in my wardrobe for a light weight but warm jacket which has performed well in wet weather. I already have a Montane jacket with down which cost around £200 and that is fantastic in very cold weather but this is more practical for temps around 10 degrees and up (UK weather year round in that case). Looking forward to trying it out camping in spring.

A very simple functional quality jacket from montane you can expect nothing less. Perfect as a mid layer when it's freezing but very good by itself when it's cold. Very light and keeps you very warm. The materials are highest quality. And the hood is just perfect. I wish I'd heard of these before buying lots of fleeces. They now feel bulky and cumbersome compared to a pertex primaloft jacket. I'm. Now adding more of these to my collection and getting rid of ALL my fleeces.

Not bad, a touch on the small side at the belly, compared to other XL jackets. My fleece is bigger and it's only an L. Also it's a bit tight at the shoulders if you put both arms up or forward. So if you are borderline or want to be able to wear stuff underneath maybe go up a size. I'm not planning to wear much underneath and I need to lose weight so I'll stick with this. I think I'm about 44 inches round the belly which is where is is a bit tight.

I needed a new jacket for Hillwalking and didn't have the spare cash to opt for a good quality Goretex jacket. I liked the look of the Montane Prism and thought I would give it a go, but didn't expect much out of it. I went up the Highlands at the weekend and the jacket was excellent against high winds and dried very quickly when it got wet. I would recommend the Montane Prism to anyone who is looking for a good outdoor jacket at a great price.

Generous fit. I'm 5'5", about 9 stone 8 lbs, 37" chest, plenty room in a size small with or without layers beneath. Gigantic pockets, easy to stuff away and take just in case, light, comfortable, fully windproof and warm with a fantastic hood. I use this for everything including running in cold weather. This and a base layer is enough for me on all but the chilliest days.

A great lightweight insulation layer. Good as a mid layer in autumn/winter walking or as a layer in the day sack ready to use when needed. Great feature is it also folds into a pocket that can be used as a pillow. Very well made with windproof seams and outer pertex fabric that dries quickly. Not fully waterproof but will resist light rain or damp mist.

I bought this as an insulator for really cold weather or a skiing mid-layer. It is so effective I would only recommend buying it if you're going to use it in really cold conditions, ie below 0c. From 0 to -10 it is an excellent jacket in dry conditions and an excellent mid-layer below -10. Wear it at above 1c and you will be boiling up.

I ripped my favourite, but no longer produced jacket on a barbed wire fence. Needing to replace it, i decided on the Montane Prism. delivery was uber quick and first impressions look good. The jacket fits to a tee.. Warm, easy to wear and whilst not important, looks good. I'll post an update later on in the year as the weather turns.

It's warm. Very warm. It's light, comfortable, and will be my go-to travel jacket. It stays warm when it's wet, which is good as it isn't waterproof. Which is really the only thing wrong with it. It arrived on time, decently packed, and the price is good for a high end walking jacket which packs down small.

This jacket uses the same quality materials as more expensive Haglofs and Mammut jackets, namely Pertex and Primaloft, has an excellent finish, feels great, looks great and costs half the price. Performs amazingly well in the cold and packs down to a comfy pillow. This is the one you want.

First time I've seen the Montane brand and I'll definitely be buying more products. Fits well, is really light and passed its first test keeping me warm and dry on a photography assignment on the Scilly Isles including sea safaris between the islands in very choppy waters

Great jacket for colder days on the British hills and mountains. Very light and warm. Fits perfectly and packs down to a reasonable size.I mainly use it to keep warm when stopped or when it gets windy. The only thing missing is an inside pocket.Highly recommended.
