This is a pair of men's orthopedic walking shoes in "carbon and lime" (very, very dark grey with a few lime green accents on the uppers and the sole - why do they bother doing the latter...?) by Berghaus. They are nominally for men but I cannot see why they aren't unisex tbh. They have an RRP of £120 (in Size 8) as of October 2018. I was sent a pair in Size 9.5. In the name of full disclosure, my feet are really 8-8.5, but I like a wide fit around the toes so I often wear 8.5 so these fit me perfectly to be honest. I usually use 'ergonomic' insoles but I didn't bother with these during my trial of them. I was wearing thin marathon socks which I used for vascular support, so it's not like I was wearing bulky socks, but they still fit my 8-8.5 feet perfectly well and didn't feel loose or like they were slipping. They are packaged in a cardboard box and are stuffed with paper, so they get 5/5 for sustainability of packaging from me as all of the packaging was recyclable. They are mostly made of synthetic material, however, so they get 0/5 for sustainability and recyclability of product. They are suitable for vegans.I wore them for the first time during a busy day where I was on my feet for 8h - I normally wear walking boots with a bit of ankle support, but I found these really very comfortable and roomy. The interior is already shaped with their Ortholite technology and acts as well as any of the various insoles I've tried over the years. Under jeans they look like trainers and not like walking shoes at all, which is great for those of us who need to wear such products day to day. My feet weren't sweaty when I got home and they are, indeed, as they say, waterproof. The soles are very sturdy and have excellent grip even on wet slate paving. On the whole, I'm going to give them 4/5 because other reviews have found sizing issues, and my 8-8.5 feet should not really fit a 9.5 so well tbh.

If you are a small size 10, rather than a 9.5, these will fit you, providing you don’t have very wide feet. They aren’t the widest of walking shoes, but they are very well-made, very sturdy and very comfortable. The internal padding ensures comfort, with plenty of cushioning. These will be good for road walking and walking over ground that isn’t too rough, where ankle support isn’t essential. The sole is really textured and grippy, making them ideal for winter wear.If you are worried about slipping over on icy winter pavements, these will provide a stylish solution that won’t look out of place on a commute, unlike clunky hiking boots. They are designed for fast progress, and quick walking, providing a decent grip, with a flexible upper, and plenty of comfort. The grey shades are nicely unisex, the waterproofing will protect you. They aren’t designed for wear in snow, the cutaway on the ankle, will give you cold wet feet in snow that’s deeper than a couple of inches. If harsh winter weather restricts you to road walking, then these will be absolutely perfect. They are quite high at the back, but so that they don’t irritate the Achilles tendon. The tread is well textured, and should last for several seasons before wearing out.I’d trust these on ice.As mentioned at the start of the review, these are quite generously sized for 9.5 (size 44 European). If you get a 10 you may need to wear thick socks with them. They aren’t that wide, they are on the slim side of a standard fitting, so if you have wide feet, they will not be suitable.

My Husband is wearing these and really likes them. He advises they are extremely comfortable, very light and compared them to wearing a comfortable pair of running shoes as unlike other walking shoes he has worn in the past these didn't need any breaking in.One thing I would point out is that the shoe advises it is a 9.5UK size/44 EU size however all the shoe charts I can find advise that a 44EU would normally be a size 10UK and my Husband advises all the shoes he buys also usually advise size 10UK/44EU. My Husband intentionally got these on the basis they would be a UK size 10 and they are and do fit him perfectly. The sole is rubber and has really good grip with decent tread. The shoe outer is a waterproof gore-tex material and my Husband advises it is breathable and hasn't left his feet feeling sweaty. The inside of the shoe is really comfortable with a padded inner and it is a really nicely designed walking shoe which to be honest is what you would expect from Berghaus.

We are big Berghaus fans in our family and my dad tested these for us.The model seems a bit narrower at the front than Berghaus usually is or maybe it's a bit longer than the usual boots, in any case, they were a bit too long for him, but fit otherwise. He is usually 43.5 EU and the ones he tested were 44EU, and they should not have been quite as long as they were on him. This can be rectified by wearing thicker socks in the shoes and that is what he will be doing as he is otherwise very happy with the comfort and quality and the Goretex ensures that they will be useful for his field work even in bad weather conditions.High quality work/walking shoes from a trusted brand, but do maybe make note of the slightly different sizing if you have had Berghaus before.

These shoes have already proved their worth following the first winter snow fall.We are lucky enough to live in a national park surrounded by beautiful country side - and as you know there is no such thing as bad weather only bad clothing! We have lots of wet days and you need good waterproof shoes to ensure your walk is not spoiled.Berghaus is a welcome brand in our family - as we find they have quality, durability with great design. These shoes are so well made - all seams are protected ensuring their water tightness. The design is very smart too.Comfortable from first wearing.Tested over a very wet, snowy and icy weekend and they didn’t disappoint.Highly recommended shoes.

Firstly, I have large flat feet - so although the length was correct, they are a tight fit. If you've got normal/narrow feed, you'll love them. They are quite rigid, with almost no flex between heel and sole. This is a good thing, of course, for fast walking over variable terrain. They are clearly well designed, excellent grip, smart, robust and well made.Very comfortable and padded, with the super grip on the soles should be better than trainers on ice and snow - e.g. for commuting. The colours are restrained, ideal for both men and women.

Nice for everyday wear for walking to and from work. They are comfortable but supportive, and the soles are tough and hard wearing. After a few months of regular wear, they still smell fairly fresh. The laces are tough and long enough to tie securely.

Slightly large length wise. Width perfect. I am sure size 6.5 might have been slightly tight.
