Berghaus Men's Hillwalker Interactive Gore-Tex Waterproof JacketBlack Gents Size LThere is no such thing as “bad weather” - there is only “Inappropriate clothing” !You dress according to what the weather will throw at you and when you need protection from the elements what better that a Gore-Tex jacket from the well regarded supplier Berghaus. This is a lightweight jacket with the following features....- Waterproof even in heavy rain whilst remaining comfortable to wear thanks to the breath-ability of the Gore-Tex construction of the main fabric.- Windproof, with sufficient velcro closures on the front zip fly and at the cuff.- Lightweight both to wear and to fold away when not required.-Versatile both in the flexibility to shape the very useful hood and carries internal zips to accommodate a Berghaus liner when extra warmth is needed. (If considering this jacket, take account of your intended use and whether you will want to add the liner and make sure the fit is sufficient to take the extra layers).- Two secure outside zip pockets and another internal zip pocket.- Great hood (when required) in that it can be adjusted in two ways, at the front edge and at the back. Anyone caught on the hill in windy conditions know that there are good hoods and not so good hoods – this is one of the better ones in that it can be fitted to the shape of your face and secondly to the shape of your head. This makes it both comfortable to use and it won't blow off.Being a lightweight jacket, the internal lining is the usual mesh that is used with light Gore-Tex garments. To retain the freedom of fit you need to consider whether you intend multi layers underneath (inc. the above mentioned Berghaus warm liner) or whether you will keep it with just the mesh lining as sizing and fit may become an issue. It can be used over a suit jacket (although it won't keep the bottom half dry) or for leisure use – just take into account the issue of layers. This jacket was a gents L – to fit a 42” chest. The flat measure is 46” so a +4” over body – OK but not generous. The length from back neck to hem is 31”, again OK for a lightweight comfortable jacket but it will not give much protection to the lower half unless you invest in waterproof trousers or over trousers. Again it comes down to what you want. This is a very well made quality lightweight jacket that is perfect for low level walking all year round and high level on the tops in summer.Clothing for the hills is very much “you get what you pay for” and this is a good jacket so long as you don't expect it to cover for all conditions however extreme. If you want a jacket for high level winter walking it won't be this one but to be fair I don't think it is intended for those high level conditions in winter on the big hills (Berghaus have other jackets that are suitable for the extremes but their price reflects this.)A really nice quality jacket, smart with useful features, perfect for urban use and low level walking.

I have been wearing Berghaus interactive waterproof jackets for over 25 years. They have always offered superb protection against rain and wind, whilst remaining breathable due to the GoreTex lining. This jacket is one of their more affordable GoreTex interactive jackets. Some compromises have been therefore been made to keep the cost down. Compared with my Cornice interactive jacket, this has a printed rather than an embroided logo on the sleeve and a main zip that does not open upward from the bottom. It also has Velcro on the front flap covering the zip rather than press studs.Walking the in the wind and rain, the Hillwalker kept me just as warm and dry as the Cornice and works equally well with my Berghaus Fleeces for warmth in winter. The hood is excellent. It rolls away to form a neat colour when not in use and when it is unfurled, can be attached to press-studs on either side of the colour. In black, it is smart enough to wear over a suit to ensure that you arrive at work dry without the need to carry an umbrella. However, for me, the only downside of this jacket is that it is relatively short in the body and doesn’t cover my suit in the same way that my Cornice does. This is not a problem when wearing it over base layers or other clothes. Berhgaus do make a Long Version of the Hillwalker so this is worth considering if you plan to use it for this purpose.

Cracking jacket. The quality speaks highly for itself, beautifully sewn and fabulous textiles. The jacket is cool and light yet very warm and roomy, with a Velcro opening (which is double layered for security so it doesn’t open accidentally);to reveal a brilliant high quality zip inside - the Velcro is a nice touch as it’s easy to throw on and get off fast if you can’t be bothered with zips and fasteners. It has a zip inside te lining area that doesn’t fasten to anything...according to the attached card, this is for an additional lining that can be bought and fastened to make the jacket warmer. It’s warm enough as is for this cold damp weather but I don’t think it’d suffice in snow or high winds. It’s thin enough that you could easily wear layers under it and bundle up pretty well. It’s very smart and quite versatile, good for travelling, hiking or daily wear. As it’s very plain and black it’s quitr wearable to MST things without standing out too much.A pricey item, you are paying for quality but at this cost I’d expect there to be the additional liner that the zip inside is meant to attach to. Saying that, it’s a great brand, I’ve had items by this one before and their stuff lasts years.

When the chill hits the air and the sky gets grey I open the cupboard and get out my coats, but often they are just too thick. I am not a cold person, so unless it is a very cold day a light jacket that keeps the elements off me is all I need. I also like to be able to scrunch said coat up and carry it in a bag should the day get warmer and dry. Enter 'Berghaus Men's Hillwalker Interactive Gore-Tex Waterproof Jacket', easily the best type of this jacket I have had to date. The Berghaus is lightweight and packs away easily with material that springs back into life when you open it up. It also looks very nice with a smart black look so that you can easily wear it for most occasions and not just walking. This particular jacket also comes with a Gore-Tex coating meaning that it the water simply slips off if you should get wet. You get a zip and velcro so that you get a very tight seal when closing your jacket. Your sleeves also have velcro so that you can make them more airtight. The entire thing is designed to keep you dry on the top of a hill, but I think works great just as an everyday rain proof.

This is such a quality, well-designed coat for those interested in outdoor pursuits in all weathers. Needless to say, this is a waterproof hooded coat, but with some great attention to detail. The main zip is hidden behind two fabric flaps, so even in driving rain, there is little chance water will penetrate. Similarly, the zipped pockets are tucked behind fabric flaps, keeping the contents of your pockets dry. The hood incorporates a toggled cord so you can constrict or slacken the opening depending on requirement (or desire to look like that Kenny character from South Park). There is also a sort of pouch stitched into the collar so the hood can be rolled up and tucked away for those sunnier, drier days out. The cuffs also have a velcro-based way of tightening them to your wrists for those really wet and/or windy moments. Lastly, the manufacturer sells additional warm layers that can be zipped into this coat to increase the warmth and cosiness. A fantastic coat, guaranteed to be an essential piece of kit for walkers, anglers and general outdoorsy-types.

I was originally going to get the paclite 2, as I was after a gore-tex lightweight and wind / waterproof jacket, but some of the reviews on the paclite said it had let water in after some time, so after some research I chose this one.I was a bit worried from the photos that this jacket would be too bulky as I wanted something light enough for bike riding, but was surprised how light it is. I only received it today but tried it outside a couple of times in freezing weather with just a shirt on underneath and it's very warm and completely blocks the wind.I haven't tried it in the rain yet but I'm actually looking forward to it raining now to see how well it performs, which I'm sure will be great. The side pockets are a decent size and comfortable to put your hands in, and it has a single pocket inside again of decent size for most stuff you'd use it for (could fit a phone and power bank + cable in etc).Would recommend it to anyone looking for a light warm weatherproof jacket.

I have been looking for a good waterproof jacket. Not one for bright garish colours or logos this all black Berghaus Jacket is perfect. I went for a large and the size was fine more. I often find sleeves are too short but they are just right. I particularly wanted a roll away hood as I generally wear a waxed hat or Tilley hat. Wore it out in a major downpour and was really impressed with the way the water just beads up and drops off. Only thing is that means the water drops straight onto your trousers. I feel a purchase of matching hillwalker trousers coming soon. Wore it again today and was really impressed with the wind proof performance too. For this price I don’t think you can go wrong. It will be interesting to see how long it lasts but very happy with my purchase. I also ordered a Berghaus Gilet with the same interactive zip as an extra layer for colder days. There is a full zip fleece or the filet and both seem to work really well inside this jacket.

This is the usual Berghaus excellent quality , made from a nice lightweight but highily durable fabric . Well thought out for pockets , storage and for warmth, with added zips for adding layers . Size wise it’s spot on and fits well for arms and body length . Ido think it would have been better to have included the warmer insulate with this jacket to rather than making it a separate purchase .What I would say is warmth wise this is more designed to be breathable for walking rather than everyday use and really definitely more fitting for hillwalking and mid season use than winter .For a hillwalker I think it’s ideal for insulation and protecting against the elements . Also easily cleaned .

This is a very good quality jacket. In addition to Gore-Tex, it has a double zip down the front where the zips are offset i.e. one is a few centimetres to the side of the other. This is presumably to reduce the risk of water penetrating through a single outer zip.You need to be aware that there is no thermal lining. This has the advantage that the jacket is small when packed away e.g. inside a small backpack. You obtain warmth by layering up e.g. with a fleece. Some might not like this but if it were thermally lined then it would take up extra space and add weight unnecessarily. The jacket has a hood. The jacket is clearly well made – I really, really like it. 5 stars.

I bought this jacket for hill walking and fishing, predominantly in the spring and summer months. I live in the north of Scotland so it certainly gets put through its paces and really does stand up to the elements. The gore tex fabric does what it says on the tin and protects you from the wet and heavy showers. Not the warmest of jackets however that's what the inner fleece attachment is for so I guess it would also work as an all season rig even though I just use it for the warmer seasons. Another great product from Berghaus!

Fit is very traditional and conservative - slightly long and baggy on the arms, slightly loose around the body - a modern fitted cut, it is not. However the jacket is comfortable and well designed with all the features you might expect. Given the price it is certain hard to be disappointed with it.Most importantly, it keeps you dry. I've owned a fair number of Gore-Tex products (hike, bike and ski). None of them have let me down and from the look and feel of this jacket, I expect it to perform well into the future.

This is a great product for keeping you dry with reasonable breathability - the price was excellent when I purchased it - xl fits well with fleece and jumper underneath - only thing I would say is if you regularly walk in torrential rain - I would go for a longer jacket - as this sheds directly onto the thigh. My favourite aspect of the jack is the way the rain drops form on the outer layer - lovely droplets easily shaken off before the jacket is put in the car or you go into a store

Loved the Price. It was my bargain purchase of the year. Great fit. And it was the Interactive version so it had the inner zip for a fleece. Really liked the colour, would not have been my preferred colour but this was the cheap colour but I really like it. It is a bit like a Khaki. So, I can camouflage myself when I go hill walking....not great if I have a fall and need to flag down someone but hey you cannot have everything and I do have an emergency whistle.

A nice waterproof jacket but not warm by itself. In temperatures below 10/15 C you will need a fleece layer or warm pullover. The only problem I found was with the hood - when the adjustment cords are tightened the hood doesn’t sit close enough to the side of the face and if quite windy they pull the sides of the hood away from your face which allows rain to enter. My Paramo Helki jacket has a much better hood and only needs a base layer in cold temperatures.

A good fit, looks smart and is comfortable to wear. This is a good make so the finish is definitely quality and is a great lightweight but zipped up provides plenty of warmth. There are several handy pockets, adjustable velcro on the sleeves and a roll out/away hood for when the wind/rain make it necessary.Very happy with protection from showers/wind and it packs away easily in the rucksack.
