i purchased these after moving to a slightly different area and also increasing my weekly mileage so i needed something slightly more substantial than the merrell vapor glove 3's that i had before. the shoes are extremely comfortable, and build quality looks good, i've currently run roughly 80 miles and can see no wear at all. the sole provides ample grip on trails and gravel tracks alike, without being so lumpy as to feel squishy when running any road or pavement sections. the zero drop ,promotes a natural neutral running style and would take some getting used to if you're transitioning from a more classic style shoe, but has been a lovely and forgiving shoe for me as i had sometimes suffered from lower calf pain with my previous shoes.

amazing shoe with zero drop, but forgiving for new barefoot runner / hiker. the cushioning is only noticable by mean stones but not bouncy / noticeable on flat. i use them as everyday shoes or for dinner hikes in addition to my merrell trail gloves with which i am really barefoot ... and sometimes too unprotected or get tenderness on some spots. not the case by these. the grip is good, the material is breathable, although not so sturdy as other trail shoes but maybe average for light minimalist ones. i would have enjoyed a lower reaching lacing toward the toes and more stability for side torsion. i took the size eu 46, but feels to me like a eu 46.5 and i will order my next pair of altra in eu 45.

good shoes ! i don't want to buy another one, because of these are wery light weight, comfortable and have enough space for my toe ( i had injury). zero drop ,absolutely perfect, it's good compromise between cushion and "barefoot" feeling . i didn't use stone guard yet and i was running on rock surface, everything was good, only mebay one issue, sole is slippery on wet rocks, but i felt it only by running up hill. could by mebay stronger upper (cordura ets.) for longer durability on hard trail runs but overall i'm satisfied with the shoes.

The shoe is very light. With a very thin sole. It comes with an additional insole (which adds some weight) to guard against sharp rocks. I find the shoes comfortable but rather firm. The sole is very grippy. There is lots of room in the toe box for wider feet. The heel and mid foot locks in nicely but I find I have to re-tie the shoes after 10k or so. The laces are super long for some reason (I double knot them). Overall a good shoe. 4.5 stars.

I already had a Superior 3.5 and I no longer plan to change brands or models. I have a wide foot and it is the only shoe that fits these characteristics, and the guardstone gives it a plus for my type of trail running. Today the Superior 4 have arrived, but due to Cov19 I can only use them to go up and down stairs. At the moment they look good, fit more than 3.5 and are more beautiful. We'll see how it is in the mountains when we can.

I am from Japan. It is cheaper than purchasing in Japan even considering the shipping cost. I finished the race with the Superior 4 on 60K at the Fair Trail, held on 199.6 / 30. I challenged the race in a brand new condition. It was a race in the rain, but there wasn't anything that would drain well and make the shoes heavy. The grip was good even in the rain. Next time I want to wear Superior 4 comfortably on a sunny day!

Lightweight and comfortable shoe, responsive but at the same time soft. Suitable for any type of foot, if I really have to find a possible improvement is the position of the holes to allow the laces to pass, I would add one towards the tip of the foot to make the feeling even safer. Grip not too aggressive but good especially in the dry. With good running technique and a featherweight I can also carry over long distances.

I just received these sneakers, I opened the package, I came across some sneakers more beautiful than those in the image. I take off my shoes and put my feet inside them ... first contact ... hummm cute, wide, space for the fingers to feel at ease, just one thing missing: Running with them to guarantee what I felt when I put them on I expect them on the tracks! Ahhhh came earlier than expected, good service!

This shoe I find really well made and finished. The wearing and running experience is so comfortable. Once I found my correct size I look forward to wearing and running in these shoes. It's the level of comfort that most strikes me I think, which for me includes things like great traction, stability, easy lacing, perfect hold on my foot, plush ride, the wide toe box of course and of course the zero drop.

They maintain the Altra standards of confort. Very flexible and light providing a feel of speed. It provides good grounding and I mean by that a good perception of the trail one is running on. I would be a bit sceptical about grip and I am affraid it is not great even on dry ground and dry rocks. Haven't tried yet but would feel very confident wearing those on soft and wet ground.

Runs a lot and had many different shoes. Alta is definitely the best shoes I have had! Especially because they allow a natural running step which is fantastic. It will be a correct running step with great speed. The shoes are comfortable and soft and the entire forefoot fits without squeezing. Ran a trail race of 51 km with new shoes without getting any abrasions. Fantastic shoes!

These are a great, light and above all - black. Very comfortable and responsive. With lightness comes reduced features, however. The midsole seems to be holding up ok compared to the lone peak the outer sole is also holding up well given the materials. No unreasonable wear with about 400km in them now. Very surprised by the durability given the weight.

Shoes received promptly as indicated during the purchase. Shoes conform to the description. Very satisfied with the service and the quality. The price is top. The Altra superior 4 are ideal for the practice of the minimalist Trail on medium distance. To recommend. Top cushioning while keeping an ultra light and flexible floor. A great product.

after improving my running form into pose running my mileage has gone considerably up and since i usually run in minimal shoes it has put extra strain on my feet. Hence, I have been looking for a light shoe with a large toe box, zero drop, and just a little more cushioning than minimal shoes, and the altra superior 4 fits the bill perfectly.

Love the altra’s and the 4.0s are no exception! Was very happy with the service and delivery of the shoes! Had read a lot of reviews about things not getting delivered on time or facing issues with service. So I was a bit reluctant to order but seeing the price I budged and honestly no regrets what so ever!!
