The Viho is said to be an entry-level shoe, a budget-friendly option to get people into Altra. In my case it sure did! This shoe is near to perfect. It is the first shoe in decades in which I can run comfortably and it helped me find an efficient running technique, something even vibram five fingers and barefootshoes could not. I have just ordered a second pair, because I want to use them both casually and for running. I tend to seriously overpronate, but get sore knees in stability shoes. Natural shoes can be too soft and unstable. The Viho has enough cushion to be comfortable, yet is firm enough to provide some stability. I think it is quite responsive.I have always had trouble moving my legs fast and keeping ground contact short. With the Viho both are massively improved and running finally feels the way I think it should feel. I run on pavement and simple trail. The Viho does both very well. Only on wet asphalt it could be more grippy. I don't really slip, but it feels somewhat insecure. It is one of the more snug fitting models from Altra, just like the Timp 2.0 and unlike the Paradigm. This makes it look sporty enough for casual wear. In regular shoes I wear a size 41-41.5. In the Viho I wear a 42.5 just like in some other Altra´s and in the Hoka´s I tried (but did not buy, mainly because my big toe needs a straight fit and my toes in general need more room than most regular shoes provide, although I don't have a specific size in width). As a woman I am wearing the men´s version because my size wasn´t available. It could be a little more snug, but depends on the socks I wear. And luckily this model does have an extra hole for the heel lock lacing.

I own three other pairs of Altra's and these are my favorite. All 4 of my Altra's fit a little differently. I agree with other reviewers that this shoe feels a little more snug in the forefoot than the others but I'm not finding the snugness from a lack of width. I feel the snugness on the top of the big toe knuckle but with a few miles on this shoe, that snugness has broken in to fit just right. I only feel this while walking, not while running. While running, if feels more secure than the others I've run with. I like it a lot.Durability was an issue that I and others have consistently complained about in the past with Altra shoes and is something I think they are very aware of.They mention "durability" a lot in their shoe descriptions and as I look at the shoe, there is a much thicker rubber outsole than my other models. The fabric they used on this not only looks great but feels good to the touch, as odd as that sounds. For my foot, this shoe has the right amount of cushion, a great fit and one of the best designed Altras on the market. I'd recommend trying these on to see if it's right for your foot.

This is the best fitting Altra I've tried on in the quest to find a new Altra pair to replace my Lone Peak 2.5's. I tried on the escalante 2- not quite as solid of a foundation as I wanted. I tried the HIIT XT2- it didn't work with my orthotic ( I have exceptionally high arches). I tried the Solstice XT- way too tight, with the orthotic, across the top of my foot. I found out about the Viho from someone wearing a pair. I love the color- so many of Altra's color scheme's don't work for me (check out the multi-colored HIIT XT2). The grey with black cushion and red sole really looks great. The foundation is solid enough for lifting and doing crossfit type work while also having enough cushion for an occasional run.The price point is significantly lower than other Altra's - I felt lucky to find these. The only reason that this pair is not a 5-star shoe is because, with the orthotic, the heel slips on exercises like lunges or burpees. A little deeper heel to lock my foot in, like the original Instinct's, and these will be 5 star. I'll be watching to see if Altra makes a Viho2 with the improvements.

I use these for walking and running on limestone and dirt single track. Most Shoes I wear a 10.5, but in Altra I wear a 10. These were no different. I measured my foot and used their size chart. I also use lock-lacing.These are the best fitting Altra shoes I have bought. Period. What sets these shoes apart is the secure fit, grip and cushioning. First, the toe box is roomy, but narrower than most Altra shoes. This gives it a secure feel on my foot unlike some other models. I can take turns and move laterally with no slippage. Second, the full rubber grip on the bottom has not failed me yet. I was surprised on how well the shoes work in a trail setting. Finally, the cushioning is dialed in perfectly. It comfortably protects against the ground, yet still pops.My only complaints are the the round laces. I plan to replace the round ones with flat ones which are easier to secure.I will be buying another pair. Thank you Altra for continuing to make zero-drop shoes!

I am pretty excited about these shoes! They feel great while running and walking. They are definitely a bit narrower compared to older models but for me not so much that they are unwearable. I actually kinda like it. Makes my feet feel a bit more secure in the shoe. And really a lot wider than say Nike running shoes. If there was something to change I would either switch up the colors or add more color ways. One thing that has always been an issue with Altra for me is I don’t want to wear them outside of exercise due to color ways and general styling. Outside of that I don’t think I can buy another brand of running shoes for running. Altra is a game changer!

Great she to run distance in while still having a zero heel drop and wide toe box. I have recently been taking foot health seriously and started a barefoot life style trying to be conscious of the shoes I buy and wear. I have also started training for a half marathon and these have been crucial to my training. I normally wear the Prio Xero shoes but just wanted a little more cushion for my impact for long distances. These have been the answer. Feel is great, seem to be holding up on road runs, and still feel like my feet can splay while running.

Definitely a shoe that stands out. The space left for the big toes is also a bold solution in this shoe compared to all other brands. The Viho, like all the others, stands out and at the same time has nothing less than all the others of its level. I find it durable and widely usable for cross-country training, short, fast and repeated courses up to 3´30´´ / km on runners weighing around 60 kg, ensuring a harmonious run that works the muscles in an extremely symmetrical way.

These have been fantastic! Holding up to daily wear more than some of the other softer soled altras I’ve had. While not as cushiony as those, they’re plenty forgiving and exceptionally comfortable. I walk the dogs multiple times a day and wear them regularly for other daily activities. Have been great at minimizing my plantar fasciitis discomfort. Highly recommend

Excellent products especially in relation to the price. Good fit, the space between the fingers is really a lot. I had read that for an Altra model it was a bit tight at the tip ... I found it very comfortable right from the first exit. If it confirms over time, I think I will not change brands anymore. Bought 9.5 USA exactly the same as Brooks, Very satisfied !!

I love Altra running shoes and have many pairs of the Escalante model. This new model is great BUT I had to make a cut in the upper because the solid parts of the upper at the base of the tongue are too tight for a wide foot.....even though the shoe is (like all Atra) shaped like a foot.

Disclaimer: I am already accustomed to a zero drop, wide toe box shoe. I was looking for a good all around road running shoe but do not run high miles. This shoe is fantastic for said purpose. I have no info on how well they wear as I just received them.

Just the right amount of padding and support without going overboard. This is my second pair. The only negative I have is that they are not super durable, so expect to replace them within a year or less.

The Viho is my first Altra shoe and it is as described. Very good product fits perfectly and super comfortable will probably stay with Altro. The delivery was very quick. Al in a top.

Great running shoes, lightweight, just like my One V3 but these shoes have thicker inside sole & thicker outsole. I just hate the design & color but these make me run a little faster

7.11.2020

Very good for forefoot and metatarsal runners, due to the lack of an offset, natural running feeling, a front foot box is wider than other brands, also well cushioned in the forefoot
