I have duck feet--a really narrow heel but a wide forefoot. Good fitting shoes are hard to come by. I normally have to buy Wide sized shoes and the art of lacing properly definitely helps with heel slippage. I am a textbook size 9W and purchased this shoe in a 10 to allow for all my special needs and it is a perfect fit. I learned this with a quality fitting at a shoe store. This is my fourth pair of speedcross style models from Salomon and I also own a pair of hikers in this brand that work for me. I have excruciating plantar fasciitis in both feet, and high arches. I walk at least 2 miles for fitness each day and do a lot of longer walking/hiking when I travel. This particular shoe is great for wet, muddy and slippery terrain and I've worn it for outdoor HIIT in bad weather too. The arch support and heel cup out of the box are quite supportive. I also add a Pedaq rigid arch support (mini) also available here on Amazon, underneath each of the factory provided insoles. This gives me rigid feedback in my arch which I very much need. This is not a "feels like a cloud shoe" with mushy cushioning. It is more rigid and highly supportive. The heavy lugs take getting used to but they provide excellent traction. It's a very stable shoe and surprisingly light considering the weatherproof materials and lug sole. I have a love-hate relationship with speedcross lacing. I love being able to cinch it down nice and tight around my skinny ankles and narrow heel but when I do the length of the leftover cord drags on the ground (yes that narrow). There is a ribbon on the top of the shoe to tuck the excess cord into but I struggle with keeping it there so I do have to knot up the cords to keep from tripping over them .I just purchased this particular model but my previous all weather versions have held up fantastically. As a point of comparison I bought a very expensive pair of Brooks this summer --and while they feel great the fabric elements are already falling apart long before they are actually worn out :( My Salomons always last and I'm hoping this model does the same.

Seriously my absolute favorite shoe I’ve ever owned. I love these!!! These fit true to size. I wear a 6 in every other shoe and bought a 6.They accidentally sent me a 6.5 so I returned and they immediately fixed it by sending a 6. Returning was so easy and I got my true size within 3 days. I bought them for running as I am an avid runner and they are the best running shoe I’ve ever owned!! And I’ve owned just about every running shoe out there.I also work as a courier and needed an all black tennis shoe for work. So I wear these daily! Let me just say, they are the most comfortable shoe for being on my feet all day. I have narrow feet as it is, so these fit me perfectly. But I would assume they would just hug the mid section of your foot for anyone else. If you ABSOLUTELY need a wide toe box, I would maybe recommend sizing up or going with a shoe that has a wider toe box, however you could always try these and return if they don’t work. (I just think everyone should give these a shot)I have high arches so I’d love more arch support but they still have plenty of support for regular arches. I’ve worn them in the rain and my socks and feet stayed bone dry. I also have to walk and run through sand, dirt, and mud constantly and these have held up through it all! I was so impressed! I’m absolutely obsessed with them and have gotten several compliments. 10000% recommended to anyone considering this shoe.

Having always bought Salomon for trail and hiking shoes, I know to half-size up as they fit slightly small. Salomon generally are a good brand for daintier, slimmer feet. They are not known for being wide-fitting shoes.I got my first pair of Speedcrosses in 2015/16, and had about two years of use from them, however, the soles do wear flat quite quickly I have found - this current pair (the ones bought here) managed less than 6 months (probably only 250 miles walked?) before the tread was worn on the outer ball. As such an aggressively treaded shoe, you generally will find tread wears unequally in the areas you are heaviest (i.e. heel or toe walker).I didn't expect them to wear so quick this time around - perhaps they have changed composition. Goretex seemed to be useful first few wears, but does eventually diminish. I do love this shoe for trail running and walking, and the grip is just great on scrambles / steep grassy or rocky inclines / sand and shale.Note: don't wear on wet pavements. They aren't designed for this and you will inevitably slip, particularly if running! They are best on looser terrain - trails, as the name dictates!

I got these to take up running. The trainer's I had been using got gunked up really quickly, and there's a steep down nearby that gets slimy after rain, so I needed something with a little more bite. These are narrower than I usually get, but actually, surprisingly comfy. I have as concerned that they seemed quite stiff and inflwxiblex but it really hasn't been a problem. The bottoms are grippy as anything, but don't make it heavy going. They're excellent for the chalk hill I n ed to go down on my runs, and excellent on the soft wood chip part of the run too. Basically, I don't notice them at all.The laces take some getting used to. I also usually tuck the booble under the lace bar closest the toe,to keep it out of the way.I've had them three weeks now and go out for a run several times a week. To be honest, they still.look new, if slightly dusty.I haven't worn them in the rain or when it's been wet out, but I have high hopes.

Although I had to return the shoes due to sizing, they were well made and comfortable. Unfortunately, I seem to be in between the sizes of 6.5 and 7. I own the non GTX pair in size 6.5 which fits perfect. However this GTX version appears just a little smaller making my toes touch the front. I have decided to buy a pair bigger, size 7. The shoes were good lengthways but with a bigger size they were also roomier overall and the heel was not supported enough. I do have narrow feet and the shoes at size 7 just did not enclose my foot well making my heels slide up with every step. Sadly, I will probably struggle to buy a GTX pair for this reason and might have to find a different version or brand. If your feet are standard width, do give these shoes a try. I have run almost 1,000 miles in my non GTX pair and they are still going strong.

This was the first time I had ever purchased running shoes from a more specialized brand than the major athletic brands and I was concerned they might not actually be worth it but I was greatly surprised. I live in a rural area on a dirt road and my regular Nikes rub huge blisters when I try to do longer walks, but these were very roomy and the tread felt great on the different surfaces (dirt road, yard, poorly paved road with a lot of loose gravel, and new asphalt) the only time it felt weird was on the new asphalt which felt a little like wearing baseball cleats. The shoes stayed comfortable throughout my 7 mile trek and I would have gone further but it began raining. The shoes felt fine in that but my shirt did not.Very happy with these shoes; will definitely buy again when necessary

I'm 60 with an ACL repair on one knee and a meniscus injury on the other. Slipping on a trail hike would be a disaster. Yesterday was the first time I used them to climb a rugged and steep mountain. We had to climb up muddy and rocky terrain sometimes using tree branches for stability...it was that steep.Halfway up we got hit with the mother of all Alaskan rainstorms. Scrambling down through the tundra and mud, over boulders and through alder thickets. The footing was precarious to say the least. These shoes held up to their promise. Not one slip. My regular athletic shoes would not have given near the traction that these did. These are my new hiking favorites.P.S. The shoes did get wet and are still wet this morning. But no ER visit last night due to an injury. Love them.

Took a while to break in and the shoes are pretty narrow. Not sure how they would work for a broad foot. But definitely made my hike a lot more enjoyable. No more sliding around on trails.Update: I have been very happy with my trail runners but had to use the warranty for a production flaw, which by the way, Salomon customer service handled amazingly!!A lot of people (including myself in my initial review) finds it hard to break in the shoe. My tip would be to actually measure your foot and look at the Salomon sizing chart to find your right size based on inches. I was surprised when I discovered that I needed a whole size bigger than I usually wear, but then again,European sizes are a tad smaller.

I was not familiar with this brand but found it when looking for the best shoes to wear when you are suffering from plantar fasciitis. I read a review that stated their plantar fasciitis went away simply by wearing these shoes. I was a bit suspicious, but found very positive reviews and gave it a try. I have zero regrets - these shoes are AMAZING! The support is fantastic, they are light and are well made. I have been wearing them every day since I purchased - including wearing with dresses and suits at work! (I switch into heels when its meeting time). I used to buy Nike Shox but I am a now a convert to Salomon! Do not wait - if you are considering these shoes, you will not be disappointed!

A fantastic pair of shoes! Really pleased with them! I bought them to trek around Laos and Cambodia having felt Walking Boots would have been too hot and having especially narrow feet and ankles find Walking Boots really uncomfortable! These were perfect, especially for narrow feet! (I had done some research and found that “Solomon” were recommended for a “narrow fit”). Super comfortable, even when trekking in hot, humid and wet conditions! The only issue was when walking on wet rocks...which happened a lot, due to my location, wasn’t ideal, but I guess that’s not really what they are made for! They’ve survived a summer of trekking and I can’t wait to use them again! A sound investment!

I love this shoe though I had to return 2 different sizes to get it right. I usually wear 8.5 medium, I ended up with 9 WIDE. That was frustrating but well worth it. It has about a week break in time. I wore it to the Spartan 10k trail in Asheville & it got me thru major mud pits, several tours straight up & down the mountain & thru major mud pits & the very rocky rivers going against the current & heavy rapids.. Where other people were slipping, the lugs on this shoe were gripping. Easy lace up system. But these shoes cleaned up from the mud almost like new. Drained & dried out quickly during the race & after the race. I will buy another pair in a different bright color.

I’m usually a size 4.5 so I ordered a 5 and they fit perfect.I am a busy dog walker who walks miles and miles every week. I’ve had mine for months now and from the day I got them I’ve worn them to death. They never ever rubbed me and are SO comfortable. The grip is fantastic and they look great on. I love the quick lace idea so I don’t have to faff with laces and they never come loose. My ONLY downside is that they aren’t waterproof (which it doesn’t say they are anyway so I won’t give any less stars). Now the grass is getting wet/dewy I can no longer wear them ( boo hoo)because my feet end up soaked. They will have to come back out next year or on very dry days.

Best shoes ever! I bought these for trail running in the desert. I’ve been on graveyard so it’s been too hot by the time I can get out. I thought it would be weird to wear them on the treadmill because the tread pattern is like a pair of cleats! Well....let me tell you, running on the treadmill was like running on a cloud. It’s like my feet never touch the ground! Felt like a champ!! It’s like going from a stock set of tires to mud terrains. I will never buy a different pair of shoes again! And...on leg day...your feet will grip like Spider-Man. Great stability for squats, lunges and especially the leg press. Super tacky! Love these shoes!!!!

I LOVED these shoes. I wore them to a moderate hiking trail in San Diego to break them in and they a world of a difference from the typical Nikes I wear on hikes or trail. The shoe was true to size which I loved considering this was my first time buying shoes online. I am a 7.5 and they fit like a glove. On the hike they had great grip against rocky, muddy & slipper terrain. They gave me the confidence to go up steep uneven terrain because of the amazing grip. This specific pair didn’t have the best ankle support but other than that I would say the shoe is amazing. I also liked that they offered it in all black.

I am a person who climbed, hikes a lot on wet, mountainous terrain, of stones, rivers and waterfalls. I wanted a comfortable shoe that did not get my feet wet and with this product I found exactly what I needed. Something comfortable, not tight, does not make my feet look big, is not heavy or even tight. I can only say that I do not usually give a review before using ot trying out the article for a long period of time, but after using this shoe for a day I was very happy and admired. 100% recommend it!Before I forget I loved how I don't have any shoelaces. I'm definitely in love with this product.
