I read all the reviews across the various sellers of the XA Pro 3D’s and saw a lot of reviewers experienced ‘sizing issues’.I went on the Salomon website and used their size guide to see what size I should buy. I usually get shoes in a UK size 8, my feet measure 25cm which according to Salomon is a UK size 7, having taken into consideration the other reviews, suggesting to buy a size larger, I purchased my usual UK size 8 and I’m glad to say the fit is spot on, so it’s worth measuring your feet and going from there.I work in concert touring and television so I’m constantly on and off my feet throughout my working day, regularly over 14 hours, these shoes, so far, have been very comfortable.I think the lace system is great and holds throughout. The tongue has a ‘pouch’ for the lace clip to be stored in so isn’t left flapping around. The inner sole is very comfortable, they didn’t need much “breaking in” which surprised me, and the added benefit of these having goretex meant my feet stayed dry whilst working outside in the wet weather recently.

First of all, as most reviewers have pointed out, get a half or full size larger than you need. I'm normally a size10 and ordered the 10.5 and they're perfect.I've had a couple of different Salomon shoes up to getting these. I've had the Salomon Men's X Ultra 2 GTX Low Rise Hiking Shoes as well as the high rise version. They were both excellent, one replacing the other as they wore out. My biggest and only complaint being I was less than impressed with the tread grip. They were pretty aweful in my opinion compared to others I've used. The good news is these shoes don't suffer from poor tread grip. They're much better by a long way. They're very comfortable, as all Salomon's are needing no break-in at all. They're (so far) water-proof, and have the same lace-up system I really like and works well. I think Salomon have learnt a lot over the years and continuously put effort into developing better shoes whereas other makes seem not to care and make the same mistakes and don't appear to listen to customers.

Super durable, and long lasting Shoe. Decent protection, good grip, super comfy to wear - I didn't always wear other shoes since I had my first XA Pro 3D 4 years ago ... More durable than common XA Pro 3D version. These shoes lasted for 2 years almost everyday use. Perfect for autumn / winter / spring, but warm to wear when the temperature is more than +20 degrees. But these GTX is perfect for winter, in minus ten degrees (-10) feet feels warm with common socks and with out any sport activity - in lazy walking! Paddles and rain truly not a problem - they keep your feet dry! Only 3 cons: 1. Lace system not lasts full shoe life. 2. All my 3 pairs or XA Pro started to rupture in one particular place - in front or where the lace system is attached!3. GTX model doesn't have inner rubber tire, that keeps shoe on feet even if lace system is not tied, compared to the common XA Pro 3D! I miss tahat thing because behind the wheel or in some short walk I had used them with thitening Lace system at all!

So these just landed. I'm 60 and walk a lot. I live in the UK and have been a size 8 since forever. Read all the reviews and since these things are particularly expensive I also watched a few YouTube vids on these too. Just about everybody saying to go a size or at least half a size up. What I was worried about though is that the length would then be longer than my foot so in the end pressed the button on my regular size. Soooooo! Do they fit? After almost surgically (I've never had to do this my entire life) inserting my feet like a transplant into these shoes they are......errrr........snug! I feel they will loosen up a bit when I get going with them on.The length is unsurprisingly spot on but these things are narrow and I DO NOT have broad feet. You get the feeling there's some wee Vietnamese guy in Ho Chi Min City who has a job as a foot model where everybody gets their measurements from and I just hope that when after a decent walk: I take them off; my feet don't remain inside the shoe.

These shoes are really good. They look great and feel great. There is a break in period. For me it was about 10 miles. The only negative I have is the shoes are expensive. I would not gripe about the price tag if I believed the shoes were worth it in terms of durability. So far the shoes are holding up well but showing some signs of wear on the tread. That being said my expectations may be unrealistic. I am a 290lb. power lifter and I walk a lot. I average anywhere from 6-12 miles a day and sometimes as much as 30. I walk on on asphalt and concrete. I have had the shoes for a couple weeks and probably put about 250 miles on them. Despite being an awesome shoe I'm not sure they will last more than 2-3 months at this rate. However, due to my walking and my size most shoes dont. That being said I will probably by them again. I believe under normal conditions these should would last average individual a very long time. Also I think the drawstring lace up system is awesome.

Super good fit, usually uses size 39 but uk 7 just fits perfectly around the foot, especially the butter is light and easily stored away, I have a flat foot, but they fit perfectly and there is plenty of room outside for the toes, which is important to me . Salomon has been thinking of those that also have size 39 for men and that is good as the size is a bit smaller in normal size 40, which is similar to size 39. I found it comfortable to wear so I can definitely recommend them. Runnerinn.com has also made it easy to find the shoe brand, and it is great to find the item, as well as the size you want. The pictures are good along with the description - which makes it active to shop.Super praise to the team, so I would definitely recommend this dealer I thank you for the trade and will clearly trade here in the future

I think I would like to give it 4.5 stars. The size is rather narrow for my foot and it is a tight fit, but maybe it is just more accurate than the other shoes and tried. I love the rugged, booty feel of them which maybe why they take a while to wear in. I be interested in trying a pari a half a size larger than what I normally get to compare. Side issues aside, they are truly a wicked shoe, I use it for jogging on concrete and sprinting on wet grass. On concrete they feel solid and bouncy, got a nice feel to them. On grass they keep my feet dry and work well on difficult terrain. I love the lacing system and there are loads of nice features, worth the price.

Avid Hiker Grand Canyon, Mount Washington in New Hampshire,Zion,Death Valley, Cascades in Washington state,Pikes Peak,Yellowstone,Grand Tetons.Fits like a glove and feel’s like shoe was made custom for my foot. The best thing is Excellent Shoelace system keeping foot firm in shoe from slipping as slippage causes blisters in the back country and could be detrimental to getting out of woods.Use both Salomon shoes and boots on hiking trips as it’s good to interchange/Rotate from shoe to boot and back to shoe.On my 4th pair of shoes and 2nd pair of boots.Been through all different Brands.Don’t use anything but the Salomon Brand now.Jeff From Connecticut

Did an amount of training with the she's on prior to taking part in the Round Island Walk in Jersey (48 miles). The shoes are sturdy, waterproof and really comfortable. The only one dissatisfaction was the toe caps. When walking down slopes and steps, I could feel the front of the shoe lifting my toe nails, I didn't think this was going to be too much of a problem, just uncomfortable, silly me. At 25 miles, my toe nails were lifted and there were blisters underneath, very uncomfortable but I managed to strap up and complete the walk.I'm not throwing them away, just strapping my toes together each time I go out for a walk as they are an expensive shoe.

I love this shoe. This is my second pair of XA Pro's, the first pair was worn until there was almost nothing left of the sole. They are very comfortable and are very long lasting. Towards the end of the life of the shoe, the outer shell splits where the shoe bends and the lacing system starts to break down, but I put a ton of miles and wear and tear on these shoes. I had no problems with the sole breaking down prematurely like I have with most other shoes in this category. I've also never had any problems with anything on the shoe delaminating and never had to use any shoegoo or other glue on the shoe. The water-proofing lasted a few seasons of hiking.

Having decided to embark on a “couch to 5k” regime, I wanted to try and avoid any niggling foot injuries that have dogged similar efforts in the past that I put down to using inferior footwear, such as that supplied by Karrimor and their ilk. These Salomon are perfect as far as I’m concerned. Fit well straight out of the box, waterproof and a sole of consistent density/thickness, something sadly lacking in the aforementioned brands. These were manufactured in Vietnam but the attention to quality control is apparent. For me there have been no cons with these shoes and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy again when the time comes.

What is not to like ?OK ...maybe they are "fairly expensive" .. but you get a lot more than you pay for. These shoes are certainly proof against wet grass and moderate rain. They fit well have good grip and are comfortable from the start.Brilliant Quick lace system. They also have very supportive soles which do not aggravate the soles my feet unlike some other brands I could mention. These are my first gortex pair, and I have 2 other non-gortex pairs. I simply would not look at any other running shoe.Great for running, walking, dog walking, light gardening, driving, mooching round town.

Most brands of shoes I wear a size 10. These 10 1/2 are a perfect fit. I have an older pair of this model that I have worn the soles smooth and the uppers are still in great shape. That is also how I knew to get a bigger size than normal.I don't use these for running, just every day general purpose wear. I find these to be very comfortable for all day wear. The soles are very grippy. They have more grip than any other brand that I have wore in the past. I also love the lace system. I don't have to worry about them untying. They stay at whatever tightness you put them at.

Only been on one hike with them so far but they're amazing. Comfy and supportive through the whole hike and had plenty of traction. The best part is that they are very waterproof but still breathable enough that my feet never got hot, I went through plenty of water and never have a drop of water in the shoe so if you're worried about them being only mildly waterproof then dont be. The quick laces are really nice too and they simply do not loosen on their own I hiked up and down a mountain and they never budged. This will probably be the only brand I ever buy from now on.

I use to work in Blacks the outdoor group and Salomon were and has always been my preferred choice for shoes/boots. Best in quality and the only company that fit my fit perfectly.I owned 2 pairs of 3D pro XDs which I wore everyday in winter/autumn months. Until I accidentally misplaced them and ever since been wanting to get another pair. Not until I broke my middle toe I decided to get a pair again. WHY didn't I get a another pair sooner!?!I don't use them as intended (cross fell running) but I do use them for my winter/autumn shoes. No other shoe compares ha!
