I've been hiking/trail running for over 20 years. I decided to change up my usual brand this time around and am very pleased with that decision.The soles are great over all the terrain I've encountered, from the deserts in Southern California to the rainforest in Hawaii. The vibram grips everything when you need it and the tread doesn't catch when sliding your feet over rock.I love the quick lace system over the tradition laces, it makes it quick, easy, and snug.The fit is great and the shock absorption is pretty good.These are very well thought out and designed. I'm kind of sad I'm only just now venturing out of my old standards I've always worn.If you like to really get out in it and push

These are good sneakers. They are light, breathable, and the toe area has protection which is great if you live in an area with a lot of rocks. However, I am not sure if I just use them heavily, but after only 2-3 months they feel and look very used. The sole has become considerably malleable and there is significant stress creasing everywhere. I don't know how much longer they'll hold up but they are still my go to running, walking, or hiking shoe (when it's dry). I have other Salomon hiking shoes called the eskape aero, both the gtx and non-gtx, and they are still much stiffer than these and have way more mileage, but then again they are not trail-running specific. 4/5 overall.

I like these runners a lot however the pictures show them being darker than they actually are which is why i am knocking one star off. The ones I received have bright green detailing on them which was not what I expected.They fit well and are extremely comfortable. They are suitable for running and hill walking long distances and despite my feet getting soaked while on a long hill walk with them I got no blisters.The shoes themselves are well made and feel like they will last a long time while taking robust use.I would buy again but just in a plain dark colour.

These are my first pair of the non gtx. So far so good. Lightweight, extremely comfortable out of the box. If I actually laced or tightened my shoes the speed lace is convenient, plus it tucks away in the tongue. The ortholite insoles are some of the most comfortable insoles I've ever used. I had these shoes on while the floor blower in the truck was on and I could actually feel the a/c on my feet. So if your wondering, these are not the waterproof ones. The jury is still out on the shoe sole, but I usually wear them till the treads fall off.

These were not exactly as I'd expected - my use is for a lightweight trail hiking and jogging boot, so these are definitely more shoe-like having little ankle support. However, the quality is good and the quick-tie lace arrangement is very handy. I have found that these are really what I need and should have been looking for! One note of caution - for a UK size 9, I've found them quite tight. More faithful, I suspect, to the EU size..... Given that you'd want to wear, as a minimum, a sport sock with them, consider 9 and a half, if possible.

For those familiar with Salomon, and their older almost identical shoe to this XA Pro 3D; These can run a full size small. The older made in China size 12 fit. The newer made in Taiwan or Vietnam can run a half size to full size to small.Amazon is great with most returns and refunds, not with shoes. Prime members will pay return shipping. Your refund is issued as soon as they receive a tracking number. If your order comes direct from a supplier, good luck. Zappos's might be the better option for purchasing shoes.

I like the shoe once I got a proper fit. I wear a 10.5 in all of my shoes to include other Salomon brand shoes. But in the XA Pro 3D, the 10.5 is too small and I had to move up to an 11. I've tried two pair and had the same issue. But once I put on the 11 and started using it for daily wear, I have no further complaints. The shoes holds up well over rough terrain. It breathes extremely well and never feels heavy or too hot. These do not "choke my feet" like some other shoes I have tried.

I own these, the Speedcross Varios, and the Speedtraks. The Vario's are still my favorite for fit & comfort, but these are impressive as well. A little heavier than the Vario's, but more durable than the Vario's (mine fell apart after a year). With their fit system, it may take a few wears for them to start feeling comfortable. I'd suggest walking in them a few times first before running. Overall, another great Salomon trail running shoe. Highly recommend.

When I say fit as expected... I mean I ordered up half a size. Salomons are not true to size for many people. That said, they are super grippy, insanely comfortable trail running shoes. These were worth the money. I am a size 12 in mens, so I ordered a 12.5 size.My wife also bought this shoe in an 8.5... she is an 8.5-9 wide in womens. So this shoe fit better than the women's salomons. She works on her feet all day and loves these shoes.

These shoes even fit better than high-end road running shoes that I've purchased in the past. Also, there was zero need for a "break-In" phase. I buy a ton of items off of Amazon, so I don't have the time to review most of my purchases. When I saw the email asking for a review I hopped right on it! I also have Solomon hiking boots but for the Hot Summer days there's no better way to walk through the woods than these Salomon Trail Runners !

I bought these shoes to travel in so I could have a decent pair of shoes to wear on the plane and then hit the gym with them when we land. Save on extra shoe weight. They seem very sturdy and I've used them at the gym all week. The shoe lace systems is different but seems to work ok. You just pull the laces and slide the lock down. Then press the lock and slide the lock back up to loosen. 4 stars is just cuz I haven't fully used them yet.

Great shoe. Only 4 stars because I don't like how the tongue lace holder thing sticks way out when the tightener and extra lace is shoved in there. I've only done about 5 miles on the AT since receiving these and would say they are great. Very stiff soles with adequate flex in the toes. Will buy again. Regarding sizing, I'm between 10.5 and 11 with most shoes. Went with 11, wish I had tried 10.5 first, but not a knock on the shoe at all.

Bought these to replace my worn but wonderful Salomon XA 3D Ultra 2’s. I’ve been buying those for several years and each pair always fit perfect no breakin required. Unfortunately they are no longer available. I have always purchased Salomons in US size 10m. Well, this new shoe seems to run a bit small. I had to return the US 10m’s and replace them with US 10.5 m’s. I just received the replacement shoes today and so far they fit great.

These are maybe the fourth or fifth pair of this shoe that I get for my husband. He wears them ALL the time! He has a weird foot and is quite bow-legged so he does wear the outer heel down after constant wear. He finds these very comfortable and would wear his old shoes until they are beyond wearing again but for the sake of his feet I insist on new shoes periodically. There isn’t anything about this shoe he doesn’t like.

We'll made, no break in and light weight. The lacing system is awesome. Simply put, best pair of shoes I've ever owned. I've worn a lot of different brands and this really is the most comfortable and featured packed for the money. Bad shoes equal sore feet which equals sore body which equals baaaaddd interactions with other human beings. This isn't the the case with the Salomans. Best period. Looks good too.
